Good luck mate, looking forward to future devlogs. Remember to enjoy the process and not get burnt out :)
I feel like what these games really need is songs that have a unique beat pattern, more than just a 4/4 beat and shooting at one monotone speed. I think it's important to be forced to skip some beats when no notes are played, and to have interesting weapon reload patterns.
This looks really good already though! I have similar feelings about game dev.. though I am currently unable to live off of savings. So it's a pretty slow grind sacrificing a weekend here and there as you watch the months pass you by. Maybe in a couple years I can make the jump as well.
You dream is beautiful, I really proud of you and that I was your lead. I believe in you and support your decisions! You are awesome!
2:58 I was laughing out loud xD
I feel really proud of you second hand just seeing that you are on 769 subscribers now. You are so close to getting your first pay out from UA-cam! Congratulations
a solid base idea that can easily be expanded on, and a simple demo that showcases it easily. it's a good start, there's not many action rhythm games out there. good luck
Marketing is super important for gamedev
As I already told you the project has a lot of potential. Great idea to start making devlogs.
Keep it up and the results will come! 🔥
bruh im doing almost the same, good luck, good work, stay strong, you are not alone. im starting game dev and i want to make my own game..
I could see this game becoming really popular if you make satisfying to get the rhythm down add a juicy visual style
Looks good so far! Good luck, you got this :]
the idea along with the black, grey, white and red style of visuals looks absaloutley sick!
Looks awesome, this black and red design, reminded me times when i played painkiller and music did a lot of job there
Good luck on your journey! I'm really looking forward to play your game(s) :)
For now there are just gray cubes so not much of a visual beauty. But спасибо for the compliments. P.S. Keep practicing and with each attempt your projects will look better and better.
I wish you the best of luck. Keep on fighting. One thing that i think would make this stand out from the other few rhythm shooters would be modding support for custom songs (not limited by bpm) (easy to import songs etc...). Maybe also a scaling system based on the Bpm because more Bpm = more damage and more apm. But that will obviously be much later on. And also im only a naive young lad so do what you feel is best. Again good luck and fight on... its a long journey
Freeform rhythm games where only a few mechanics are linked to the beat are easier to make than a classic rhythm game, but it's still a lot of work. Good luck!
~a rhythm game dev
Bro don't loose hope
You can do it ❤
Don't rush ❤️❤️
Cool prototype! Best of luck to you, from a fellow gamedev.
THIS GAME LOOKS SO FUN I CANT WAIT TO PLAY IT OMG i love fps rogue lites and i love rythm games this is a genius idea
i wish you all the best and surely follow your progress
Good luck bro looks awesome
The "also" in the title is what made me click on the video, real funny. Starting to watch it right now
Can't wait to follow the advancement of the project, keep it up I'm subscribing
This is pretty damn cool! Im not quitting my dayjob just yet
Im also starting my Dev journey, good luck! 👍🏼
I'm excited to see the game progress, got a subscriber and I'll keep following your progress! :)
Honestly a really interesting idea! I wish you the best! I just started really getting into game dev recently as a 3rd year CS student. Can't wait to see your progress!
Good luck friend, as someone that has the same dream, i wish you success.
This looks sick Mate. If anything tho, do yourself the favour of keeping the accents in the weapons on the music's 2 & 4 beats. It's normal practice in modern music, and frankly alot of musicians (myself included) and musical people in general, cringes like crazy when accents are on 1 & 3. (Just cause in my 20 years of being a musician I have never heard anybody say anything bad about 2 & 4. 1 & 3 tho. Whooo. That's another story.)
guns switching automatically based off the beat (or part of the track you're currently listening to) would help with that monotony it makes me feel
super cool keep going I really like your game idea
This is so cool man, I wish you luck brother! It may be hard, but nothing is impossible, remember that!
dopamine about to go wild with this one🗣🔥🔥🔥
Honestly, this is really good for a first video. Keep up the good work! :)
Good luck there man! Looking forward to your new journey 😄
This game actually looks cool, I can see you working on a different kind of game as well. Good luck on your journey 🫡🫡
I also felt the need to go all in as the opportunity seemed to be passing by...that was 3 years ago. BUT it has been the best 3 years of my life even tho i work a part time job and do game dev for 24-32 hours a week. My abilities have improved drastically and yet somehow financially my wife and i have be doing well. Even just bought a house. I worked in a stressful and unfullfilling job for over 5 years because i felt the need to make more and more money and provide for my family, but the truth is that was the biggest mistake. My health was on the decline. I was smoking all the time and the future was bleak. I hope this decision for you does you as well or better as it did for me. Cheers 🎉
Thank you, mate! Foremost don't lose hope!
Business wise I can’t agree with you, but gameplay wise it looks neat!
Best of luck bro, don't stress yourself too much! :D
Awesome video! Best of luck in your journey :) The game is looking super awesome by the way and am looking forward to see where it goes. Keep it up! :)
ok i'm not even kidding your game is gonna be amazing
Good luck on your jorney, man. I like your game idea, hope to see more about it soon
I’m rooting for you. I also want this path
this is a very cool idea and im not really trying to discourage you, but there is a game like this called Bullets Per Minute
UI literally looks the same, he also mentions that near the end of the video.
Probably just took it from them
maan this looks great and it's a great idea keep going ^^
yooooo my reddit boy! i just quit my job to do the same hahaha, well done for being so brave. I’m excited to do this journey alongside you!
I'm hyped!
I love rythm based first person shooters (I played "a bit" of B.P.M and Metal : Hellsinger) and your project already really solid despite being in the early stages. Also, I want some sort of explaination/tutorial on how you made the rythm system for the game (I'm not using Unreal Engine currently but it could be valuable information nonetheless).
Hi, thank you! I don't have plans to make a tutorial on rhythm systems yet because those systems are pretty straight forward and uses Unreal Engine features. You can contact me in discord and I'll answer all your questions.
A couple of things that would be cool for this game would be:
A melee weapon - Could be like a katana that could impulse you forward, maybe you could charge it
A good soundtrack - Make sure one song isnt looping for too long. I dont know wether the gameplay is on a floor or just rooms but having a playlist of different songs for different levels would be good
Community songs - Allow a editor for people to import their owns songs or something along the lines
Interesting upgrades - Make sure that the upgrades are actually fun
I think a Melee Weapon could potentially risk making it a little too similar to Metal hellsinger, just a thought
@@rabidhorde Despite not knowing what that is, I think having a melee would mix up the gameplay and provide more diverse game styles. The concept of a melee weapon itself is also not original to any game, so I don.t personally see why not.
@@SmellyRio True the concept of a Melee ability isn't unique. But, the current combat is essentially, rough copy of metal hellsinger's, adding the Melee Weapon would further identicalise the combat of the two, I don't mean any hate at all to the dev, I love metal hellsinger and am stoked to see more games like it, I just don't want to see this new project criticised by gatekeepers as I'm really looking forward to more development
Game looks amazing, a tip to make the game more interactive is to make the character "wall run" in the pillars so that if it is in a pinch, it could just run on the pillars and escape to the other side and continue with the shooting.
I like how it went from 0 to 100 in last 2 seconds of the clip hahahaha also good job game is looking sick!
That looks like a great game!
nyanpasu but it's AHOY is based. I would fund a game in that genre.
Ever since I first saw your game I've been amazed and hoping for more!! As a game student myself I am impressed you took this jump, goodluck on this journey :)
I thought no one would pay attention, but you are already supporting me at the start of my journey. Thank you! It means a lot to me!
I am also working on a rhythm game (or trying at least). This looks interesting; I think your the first dev on yt I've seen working on a rhythm game it seems to be a rarity for some reason...
Yeah, I think I know the reason. It is really hard to make rhythm games, with all restrictions that default audio systems of game engines has. Besides rhythm games are niche, so it's almost always a very big risk, you're putting in a lot of effort for a small audience. But that’s why we’re indie developers, right?
No dying from starvation here! Keep it up! :D
Good luck, i loved the unentheusiastic ending, reminds me of some other youtubers!!
This game reminds me of hellsinger. Looking forward to your take on this genre
I would definitely play something like this
Cool game idea. Good luck
we need nyan-pasu music in the official game
Great idea! Keep it up bro
This will do very well imo
I like the game.
Keep this updated
This game looks so amazing.
your game looks fun, there are not many rhythm-based fps out there.
I want to play this game right now !! Haha it looks so good
broooooooo good work keep it up and it will be better if you can maake a proper video on then game loop and features it offers it will be good for people like me so we can give ideas to improve it
Great idea! I'll definitely do such video later. Thank you!
Very Cool i like it.
Wow, I can’t believe UA-camrs like you have such low views and subs you should totally have more subs than even me (my vids are deleted). You’re editing style fits perfect for your Chanel and logging I hop you go for and make a huge career out of this. Probs to you my brother!
enemys look sick
goodluck man
This one looks promising
Good luck ;)
The game seems really cool tough
Good luck with ur journey, btw why tf u have so little subs u deserve more i think
Так же посмотри на скины для оружия Ion из игры Valorant. Я думаю, что ты можешь получить немного вдохновения с них.
I seriously considered quitting my job to do game development but simply can't afford it.
Best i can do is a part-time job while working on games
I know this feeling and I do understand you. I think the best thing you can do it keep working towards your goal and gain motivation out of this situation.
@@VoidHeat Thank you. That sounds like a good path to follow
Goodluck
I love it
I love your comment
Буду тут, чтобы посмотреть, что получится.
Hi (I beg your pardon for my insufficient mastery of the English language.)
It's ok mate, my English isn't perfect too 😉
So similar to BPM but as you said.
You want to make it different.
Uhhhh good luck?
Gl bro
Interesting concept - and it looks like you are quite far in as well. A crucial element of any rhythm action game is the quality of the music. Are you doing this yourself, or licensing in from elsewhere?
I'm not doing it by myself, I hope I'll find some talented musicians that will write music for the game.
good luck
Great video man, i dont plan to quit my job but im 17 and starting my game dev journey. I'm currently following unitys free course and watching some tutorials on the basics but im unsure of how to move forward with learning c# and a bit more of unity in a faster or more meaningful pace. I plan to make 3D games so im focusing more on that aspect early. Any tips on what i should do or watch out for?
Actually everything is good! Keep it up. Watch tutorials and other learning materials and don't forget to practice. You might make small game first or implement a prototype of some game mechanic but either way it will move you forward.
Oh okay great! Thank you very much, and keep up the good work dude wish you best of luck and dont starve :)
You got something
Игра напомнила аниме "История ран".
good luck not dying from starvation
Sexy, maybe give buffs/debuffs when you follow the rhythm or not
The rhythmic cross hair is too wide
Make enemies have weak timings on hard timings (between beats)
i think i should hop into it, wasit they already kicked me out so.. what should i do now?
I don't think quitting your job to focus on your indie game is a bad move. I think it's a bad move when you do it without having some kind of basic prototype already created. If you don't know your game is going to be fun to play then there is no point as you are just going to be running around in circles at best, and at worst you will waste your time working on a game that is just not fun.
Luckily it looks like you have a prototype down so it's fine to go for it in your case, but for others I recommend you stay at your job and work on your game part time till you have something that is fun to play and looks nice visually to gather interest.
(Also, for anyone wanting to get into game dev. Unless you are terrible at learning by yourself, don't go to uni to study game dev. I did a BA(hons) in game dev and everything they "taught" us were glorified youtube tutorials. Everything they teach you on a game dev course can be learned from youtube if you just put in some time and effort. Another reason not to do it is because the AAA industry is dog shit. Our tutors and even guest lecturers from indie and big studios all told us that in the AAA industry you are lucky if you get to keep your job for more than 3-4 years. Indie is the way to go!)
you should consider focusing on VR platforms. It's just too good a fit!
I used to work with VR for 3 years. Pretty tired of this. I want to focus on desktop platform.
@@VoidHeat ok -and also, now why I thought it would work on VR kinda makes sense!
Good luck! The game looks great. I'm just curious, how old are you? And aren't you from Russia?
I'm 24. Russia? Nah, flag of my country a bit different.

Guess it, you have 3 attempts 😉
@@VoidHeat eastern Europe
@@reosin2536 yes, pretty close
is this just Bullets Per Minute? U got the same reticule and have described the same game.
if so hope u dont fall into the same pitfalls that game did
This question I get every time I show off my game. I'm not going to answer your question here because literally in the video, I said where you can find additional information and comparisons that might give you a clue about the differences between my game and 'Bullets Per Minute'. This video is an introduction, and within a minute, it's hard to describe what the game will actually be. So, I guess I will do a separate video telling more about the game.
It is pretty interesting that a lot of people notes the crosshair, but Metal Hellsinger has similar crosshair and nobody cares. I find this crosshair type the most comfortable for rhythm shooters.
@@VoidHeat Fair enough, not saying its bad to be similar to it to be clear, I'm just hoping this game improves on the formular as BPM doesnt do that much with it and I'd be quite happy to have a good fps rhythm game. Crosshair just reminded me of it, but again not a bad thing, people dont get mad at FPS games for all having the same + reticule xD
Aye I pray that you find The Lord Jesus, I know it’s out of the blue but the path where we have to face adversity and fear is where we find him and he makes us strengthen to trust in the *path!*. Much love from someone who’s also taking a leap of faith!
