The only situation I can think of for using stock is when, for some reason, you're exclusively using it for its melee properties but will get metal and build something. In that case, any stock reskin would slightly hide the fact that you're an Engineer to anyone looking at the scoreboard. (Even then, it's an extremely niche and unlikely situation that may not ever be able to happen and you're not even technically using stock.)
Hey, Uncle Dane! I have a quick question. What settings are you using to have your HUD look like that, (health and ammunition right beside each other, and the removed team background from your player model)?
The stock wrench is exactly what a stock weapon is: good in all situations, yet unspecialized for any one situation. The strange difference is that the wrench happens to have specialized options for EVERY situation. In addition, the wrench is one of the only weapons which you can easily predict when you should switch to a different specialization. A soldier can't predict if THIS LIFE they will run into a scout and need a shotgun, but an engineer can always predict when they are about to be pushed to the last control point.

Slow repair speed is negligible when the damage is small too. If your sentry is about to die, you’d rather want to use canteen in order to save your metal anyways so… Pretty much only upside of the stock Wrench is removing sapper for 2 hits, not 3 hits I think. The only thing the stock Wrench has over others Engineer melee weapons is the ability to score random crits. If random crits are turned off, every other melee can be considered a direct upgrade in some aspect (+25 Health and a guaranteed crit on the 3rd consecutive hit for the Gunslinger, Bleed damage for the Southern Hospitality, teleporting with the Eureka Effect, construction and attack speed with the Jag).
Disagree, try defending with the gunslinger, less metal with the eureka effect can bad for holding your nest togheter, jag is about setting up and somewhat attacking. Sourthen hospitability is probably a direct upgrade though
honestly dude great work on these videos. obviously the work you did on them shows, with the pretty and accessible graphics and the quips scattered throughout with the typical TF2 eccentricity. i hope publishing these things when all is said and done is as satisfying as watching them is (and seeing that new ones came out) because it kind of feels like you put some heart into them.
Finally someone that mentioned the stock wrenchs usefulness in MvM. I haven't really heard anyone talk about it previously, and I see way too many people using the jag in MvM over the stock wrench because they assume its better there as well as in casual (which isn't true)
The bad stock weapon problem seems to mainly happen with melees, since basically everyone except demoman and debatably soldier can easily deal damage with their primary and secondary, often to much better results than when they use their melee. So any melee that gives utility at the cost of melee dps is immediately better than the stock melee, for basically every class
@@barbarosbozkurt758 I would much rather see another video about the Eureka Effect, cause the review he made 4 years ago is really boring and that quirky haha funny ninjaneer video made almost everybody see the Eureka as a joke weapon which i don't like
Ill always use the stock wrench NO MATTER WHAT (besides attack engie) due to the fact that it always random crits. No seriously, its almost like i got a inf crit canteen
I feel weirdly nostalgic everytime I hear your intro, I say weirdly cuz only recently have I gotten into tf2. Yet you can *feel* the years of good content in that intro... and I like that
In mvm I prefer eureka. It's incredibly useful to be able to pop straight back to spawn even if you have the upgrade. Given you can go it anywhere at anytime without a charge, upgrade, and get right back no matter where you are. The fact that it doesn't use a change is especially helpful on later waves when your teleporter may be more crowded. It may not seem like much given how fast a level 3 teleporter charges but given how chaotic later mvm waves can be, every second doesn't not doing damage can be detrimental to your team so the more that teleporter is charged the better. Then there's the case of being your teams second engie, which is when I like to run the disposable exit playstyle, basically treating my teleporter like the disposable sentry. Leaving it in a super dangerous spot like right next to your sentry knowing it won't cost you much, if anything, if destroyed so you can more effectively tank it.
I would argue that stock is a good one to use in cases where you have been alive with your buildings a long time mainly on maps which involve CTF, PL or 5 CP where points do not change that often due to respawn time/distance. While it does not have any upsides to give it an advantage, it also does not impede you with any negatives either. If you are already in the position of having a good nest with minimal threats pouring in it's not having either matters. It also gives some good random crits for any spy getting close to you or anyone trying to sneak around sentry. The damage you deal with sentry and your own shotgun/pistol help add to them which quickly allow you to end those fights fast and repair for next person.
About gunslinger in mvm: yeah, it's not good if you're the only engie, but pair it with extra reserve metal, the Frontier Justice + clip size, and disposable mini, and you become a permanently crit-boosted scout. I use it sometimes in Boot Camp if I want to play Engie, but there's have one already.
Yes, Uncle Dane, we know you like the engineer. It’s not always about the engineer though, sometimes, it’s about drive, it’s about power, we stay hungry, we devour.
I would say there is another scenario where the stock wrench shines over the rest: After using the Jag to fully upgrade your stuff at spawn of a koth map, the stock wrench shines for Level 3 wrenches, since it overall the most well rounded. Pyros are most common on koth maps, so the Southern Hospitality is out. The buildings are Level 3, so the Jag is out. And while spawn is some distance away, most koth maps don't have enough places to use the teleport to spawn feature of the Eureka Effect, so that's out. So, using the Stock Wrench is the preferred Level 3 wrench, though it's kinda outshined by the Gunslinger on koth. But, if you want to use a Level 3 Sentry, Stock Wrench is the best option.

The jag also has random crits
Disagree, try defending with the gunslinger, less metal with the eureka effect can bad for holding your nest togheter, jag is about setting up and somewhat attacking.
Sourthen hospitability is probably a direct upgrade though
Can’t the eureka effect also crit?
honestly dude great work on these videos. obviously the work you did on them shows, with the pretty and accessible graphics and the quips scattered throughout with the typical TF2 eccentricity. i hope publishing these things when all is said and done is as satisfying as watching them is (and seeing that new ones came out) because it kind of feels like you put some heart into them.
Wtf am I high? 3 uploads in a row
I am
cant wait for the PDA tomorrow
I prefer stock wrench because I dislike switching wrenches constantly in game, so it’s efficient all around.
"The longer he's left alone with his devices, the more powerful he becomes" Basically every 8-year-old
I prefer the souther hospitality or the gunslinger but the stock is a classic to use :)
Hol’ up, how is Dane gonna do a stock load out with his cosmetics?
The description makes me realize a little more why you picked halo music.
I can't wait for what Dane has to say about the stock PDA and destruction PDA.
look at the pinned comment.
Uncle Dane posting 3 days in a row? I didn't know Christmas was in summer
Dane has definitely played halo recently cause this background music be slappin
Tomislav definitely doesn't negate the stock minigun, it's practically the definition of a sidegrade.
nah, tomislav is pretty much a direct upgrade
@@Liam_The_Great I prefer stock to the tomi any day of the week, it's much more of a preferenc.
I like how you included the pan in the "better than stock" category
Finally someone that mentioned the stock wrenchs usefulness in MvM. I haven't really heard anyone talk about it previously, and I see way too many people using the jag in MvM over the stock wrench because they assume its better there as well as in casual (which isn't true)
The bad stock weapon problem seems to mainly happen with melees, since basically everyone except demoman and debatably soldier can easily deal damage with their primary and secondary, often to much better results than when they use their melee. So any melee that gives utility at the cost of melee dps is immediately better than the stock melee, for basically every class
Uncle Dan blessed us with his presence once agan
I love how the pan is in the "better item most of the time" catagory
When are we going to have a Battle Engi: Gunslinger?
He already made a review on the Gunslinger
@@waffles9733 I know I've already watched it but it would be nice to see a new serie called Battle Engi
@@barbarosbozkurt758
I would much rather see another video about the Eureka Effect, cause the review he made 4 years ago is really boring and that quirky haha funny ninjaneer video made almost everybody see the Eureka as a joke weapon which i don't like
@@waffles9733 haha Ninja go brrrrr,
That would be great as well
@@barbarosbozkurt758 dude, that's not funny
Can’t wait to see Stock engineer: Small height
He said he’s using the stock wrench but all I see is an Australium one, literally unwatchable
Clickbait
He said he would be using stock but he is using other wrenches in some points SMH clickbait
and its pumpkin bombs soooo multiply the price by 3
I can't believe he forgot that using an Australium automatically triples your skill level
Litterally unwrenchable
Ill always use the stock wrench NO MATTER WHAT (besides attack engie) due to the fact that it always random crits. No seriously, its almost like i got a inf crit canteen
I love how his Medic's weapons are all named after Pokemon moves
I feel weirdly nostalgic everytime I hear your intro, I say weirdly cuz only recently have I gotten into tf2. Yet you can *feel* the years of good content in that intro... and I like that
You forgot that Machete is an upgrade over everything else in any situation.
I love the pan at 0:50. "some weapons are just so powerful that..."
The stock wrench is the item with the highest random crit chance in the game. When there are a lot of spies in a game, it's better than other options.
You forgetting medic melees
Vitasaw, Ubersaw and Scotmans skullcutter:
Alright guys, let’s get ready for Stock Engineer: the Taunts
Southern Hospitality is the best wrench
Uhh I just use mine because it looks cool and has a strange…
It suffers from being the "jack of all trades, master of none."
