Thank you for your honnest reaction in comparring Angelina to Elvis in performing the same songs. It's nice to see the younger generation finding his music. And Angelina always follows her own talent. Elvis did so too. There is only one Elvis. And there is only one Angelina. And Elvis always appreciated other talents. One day they will meet each other and talk about music.
The queen of rock an roll the next generation of Elvis in her own voice it’s beautiful.
So many covers by Angelina meet or exceed the originals who were great stars but Elvis was, is, and always be King! Elvis didn't go to schools that had recording studios and special music teachers; he came to us fully formed. Another gift from God. None of this detracts from Angelina's versatility and ability to emotionally move the listener and she is also a gift from God and I will not compare her to Elvis.
Statement of truth!
Love me Tender is awesome by Angelina 👍👼💚🥀😊🕊️💐
I agree that Angelina could stand on any stage with anybody.🤠
Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!
The King Lives On!
👩🏻🎤🎵🌎⭐️🇳🇴❤️ Long live the King and the Queen!
I Love Angelina
Angelina jordan is definitely very special. I mean you are probably never going to get another Michael Jackson King of pop . Or Elvis Presley King of rock n roll. BUT Angelina is definitely right up there with all the greats. When you get someone so young singing songs as good as the original artists and sometimes even better especially a young girl singing songs that men have sung well that's something special. Not only can she do cover versions and sound like the original singers if she wants to but she has her own original unbelievable voice. I've watched and listened to a lot of her videos and singing coach reaction videos and I've read a lot of comments and I don't think I've read a single negative comment about her. She's truly amazing. Thank you for sharing your video. 👍
The actual truth is much more complex and beautiful than either of those. It was majic. Elvis never tried to be anything other than Elvis. In all the complexity that implies. There was not just one Elvis. We’ve all seen the many iterations. When the music played, he became 💥ELVIS. There WAS a majic in Elvis. With that said, than young woman, miss Jordan, is astounding. What a treasure.
Elvis and Angelina in the same sentence. I'm not surprised. Wonderful as always Alan.
Thank you Alan for another sincere and heartfelt reaction. It was awesome. Thank you!
Your reactions, Alan, are getting better and better. I hope that Angelina watches your video clips with a smile and joy as we do. Thank you.
Elvis expressed his love for his family and honored his mother for the encouragement she gave him. Similar to Angelina's support from her mother and fondness for her family. Their passionalte feelings about those who have loved them unconditionally flow from their voices.
That intangible thing that they both have is their total ease and comfort in front of an audience and their love of music. It shines through in every performance. Elvis tugged at my heartstrings as a teenager. I wore out my 45’s of his songs and never missed a TV performance. Even today love to hear his gospel songs. I believe Angelina covered one-How Great Thou Art (?). Love her version.
And, I enjoyed that very much. Thank you for your time and hard work.
We will have to wait until Angelina reaches the age Elvis was in each of his performances to do a real comparison. With the way she covered these songs at such a young age he may have more than met his match. Time will tell.
Great reaction Alan! I enjoy your detailed analysis. Looking forward to Ivan's interview too.
Great reaction yet again. I like the way you weave history and reaction together.
Thank you for not rushing into a reaction to Angelina's newest song. It's respectful to give the artist the time, it's her song and not ours to rush into and "make a buck on", so thank you:)
I love, love, love what you do with Angelina’s music, and anxiously await your next videos. I’m also a huge Elvis fan, so this was a “two-fer” for me. I was a teenager in the fifties and was listening to R&B which is the root of R&R, and to R&R also. I watched Elvis “live” on the Ed Sullivan show on a 12” B&W TV. Elvis is known as “The King of Rock n’ Roll” but not the one who introduced it. Little Richard is known as “The Architect of Rock n’ Roll” and Chuck Berry is known as “The Father of Rock n’ Roll.” The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame considers Chuck Berry to have been particularly significant in the origins of the genre when they said, "While no individual can be said to have invented rock and roll ... Chuck Berry came the closest of any single figure to being the one who put all the essential pieces together.” All that said, Elvis had one of the greatest voices in pop music, and I agree that Angelina is his equal on the female side. Who knows, the way Angie is enhancing her vocals with each passing year, someday she might just surpass “The King.”
Angelina is now, and has been for the history of music, the most versatile
singer of multi-genres.........bar none! Even Elvis, as great as he was, didn't
invade all the genres Angelina has, and you may want to say he could have,
which is possible, but 'did' is a descriptive word that Angelina owns, not
'The Big E' !
Hi, though, I was very young when Elvis brought out those songs,, it still gives me goose
pimples just listening to it again...The only competition he had was Cliff Richard... But as for
now,,,where ever he is, he must be smiling ear to ear hearing Angelina bringing those songs
back to life in such a perfect way... There"s no stopping her......Thanks for very pleasant
down load...enjoyed every bit of it... chow....
There is a great music radio station in Tampa that just plays oldies. Every big city should have one. If so, then Angelina would become famous for singing oldies also.
Excellent analysis yet again. Pointing out the obvious, the comparison is Angelina from ages 10/11 - 13 to Elvis Pressley from early 20s - 30s(?). That is not to say that Angelina will be better than Elvis, Whitney, or any other of the great icons when she reaches the same age. They have unique voices. As you say, Angelina will always hold her own singing their songs in her own style. We're just beginning the Angelina era as she compiles her portfolio of originals. And when she's done, a descendant of Alan Papier will be comparing the artists of their day to the great Angelina Jordan.
The King meets The Queen ❤
This reaction is super informative and I thank you for it. I remember my mom driving to school with Elvis crooning on the radio. She would scream and virtually lose her mind over this man. I don't do that with Angelina mainly because unfortunately she is not yet on the airwaves 😃. Btw I wondered if Fats Dominoe would ever make it to a reaction channel and surprisingly here he is. Thanks for all you are doing and stay safe.
Great job, Alan. Enjoyed it!
I just have to say this .... I've seen so many comments in many reaction videos that Angelina is the girl with the "Mona Lisa smile" or the "Mona Lisa face." Don't get me wrong -- I love the works of Leonardo da Vinci and the "Mona Lisa" is timeless. But I've never connected Mona Lisa to Angelina Jordan. Angelina is far more stunning than Mona Lisa (whoever she was) and is "Elvis-esque" in a feminine way. The cover picture on her recent 7th Heaven song confirms this in my opinion. Her face, her eyes, the beauty of her hair, her friendliness and love for people, her charm, charisma, and stage presence are so reminiscent, IMO, of Elvis Presley's facial features and personality. She's become as stunningly beautiful as Elvis was unearthly handsome. And when she smiles or laughs big, it's like I'm looking at Elvis smiling or laughing! Then, if that were not enough, her voice is growing into a beautiful powerhouse of flawlessness, with range, vibrato, richness, and versatility to die for -- just as Elvis' voice was. To me, she is becoming the female version of Elvis Presley -- Megastar -- of this generation!
My teenage years were lived in the path that Elvis drove as he traversed between the Louisiana Hayride on Saturday nights and Friday night performances in Texarkana. In those days, locals visited with him as he bought gas for his car, etc. He was always nice, polite and friendly--a genuinely unique soul.
@@genevapriest6190 , wow, that's so awesome!
Perhaps if Elvis sang at 9 years old we would say "Elvis who?"
Angelina at 21 maybe more than anyone can handle.
Actually, at the age of 10, Elvis did sing in a talent contest at the 1945 Mississippi-Alabama State Fair. He nervously sang "Ol' Shep", a sad song about a pet dog. Did he win? Well, not exactly ..... He came in 5th place! But just ten or eleven years later, practically everyone in the USA knew who he was! :-)
@@johnbattles1002 LOL, nuff said
Thank you for very informative presentation. Some Angels (Fans) of Angelina affectionately refer to her as “Female Elvis”; for me she is a unique artist, and the Barefoot Angel is Angelina period, no comparison to anyone else. By the way, I saw the smaller picture on your back wall which reminded me of Angelina’s grandma, Mery Zamani.
How about singers have their own special place and we not compare them to Elvis. No one compares to Elvis no one ever will and we can leave it at that.
My favorite of your comparative analysis videos yet, Alan. Excellent. Watching again now.
Hi Alan, I always enjoy your Angelina reactions and the debate you raise with Angelina Jordan meets Elvis Presley I've raised this many times in my head and verbally to my family but I have also raised the same question with Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston, John Legend, Queen, Elton John, Amy and Adelle etc. Okay, could Elvis do this? Could any of the above I've mentioned? Could they even compose, write and sing What Is Life, Oslo, Shield, Million Miles and 7th Heaven? I have respect for all the wonderful artist that I have mentioned but they never made cry the way Angelina does and in my humble opinion and this is what I explain to my family (who haven't understood it yet), she is The Greatest Of All Time x and she is only 15 years old.
Well said, Ian. In a nut shell, most singers are - singers. Some of the ones you mentioned are wonderful - singers. Angelina is more than a singer - much more. She can stand somewhere (or, sit somewhere) getting ready to sing a song and she can bring tears to your eyes. It's remarkable and evidence she is much more than a singer.
The first RR song I remember in '55 is Bill Haley and the Comets with 'Rock Around the Clock". And again you've done a great review. I'm looking forward for your next one.
You're quite right. Bill Haley was very much past of the story
And a shout out to Chuck Berry for 1955s Maybellene.
@Reg Dewitt Thank you. I vaguely remember the time period but I was only 6yo.
Angelina has no equal. She should be a superstar right now. Reactors are still racking up thousands of views for 7th Heaven as we speak. Woefully, that means they are ignoring requests by her management team to just do one view on U Tube, and then do major streaming on Spotify for repeated viewing (listening) plus contacting radio stations. I hope and pray she is getting streaming on Spotify we are unaware about.
Thanks Alan, this is a beautiful time frame and style to analyze one of the sources of inspiration of Angelina and her fantastic covers 😊❤️
Now Angelina is a little younger, isn't she? :-)
Angelina Jordan my opinion she’s one of the best vocalist I am completely humble funny example for young people today her thing abilities is beyond beyond she has everything a good thing her head but he has more unique things If not, I’m on other things maybe. Idell and Amy Winehouse read in my top three Angelina my number one one
so funny how AJA is even lower "sounding" tone (relatively) than Elvis here on LONELY TONIGHT.. what a tone. She reminds me of Kathleen Turner's (actress) voice. I think she sang in ROMANCING THE STONE, or the other movie...........
DOOWOP is still great... classic fun and romance
Another well done video, Alan. If I'm going to be honest, I have to say that Elvis was better on all of those songs. Angelina came close when she did "It's Now Or Never" at Allsang på Grensen in 2017. That said, I think this is another case of Angelina honing her craft and adding another artist to her catalog of styles.
Really looking forward to next week. Angelina and Ivan seem to have terrific musical chemistry and work so well together that should be a good one.
Some people say Bill Haley & the Comets with rock around the clock invented rock and roll others say the crew cuts with Shaboom Shaboom invented rock and roll
Your videos, Alan, are, by their cleverness in conception and execution, templates for our reactors to follow and copycat.
If I were in the Third Heaven to visit Elvis in his new body form and to ask him what was, and still is, the most enduring genre of music that procured him the ultimate joy to sing, when he was on Earth, the king of rock and roll would instantly say, and I have no doubt about it, my Christian songs and my spirituals.
And if I had the audacity to follow through and ask him why, most certainly he would declare in his heavenly tone of voice: assuredly I say to you, because they, and only them, always filled to the rim my agape love tank.
Hi Jacques, Here is this week's sneak preview

@@thealanpapier Oh, thank you so much, Alan, sincerely!
That video with my two favorite reactors, la crème de la crème in video reaction on YT, will be woth watching.
I'm sure that we will learn precious thoughts and info concerning Angelina.
By giving me that link, everybody will do just like me and sneak in.
It reminds me of my father. We were 8 children, and when he wanted to reward me, he would give "me" something that all my brothers and sisters could enjoy with "me".
Just teasing, as always.
@@jacquespicotte8886 High praise indeed if I remind you of your father
@@thealanpapier Oh no, Alan, you do not remind me of my father: your spirit of fairness and generosity brought me back to him.
For the rest of all your other qualities, I would say that you remind me of the father of the prodigal son: goodness and gracefulness.
See, there's a nuance.
Just kidding, again.
Too bad we can't see Elvis as a child singing songs of Angelina when she becomes an adult. I don't think Elvis would stand a chance.
Elvis, on October 3, 1945, at ten years old, sang in a children's music contest at the Alabama-Mississippi State Fair in Tupelo, Mississipp (his birthplace). The song was a sad song about a boy and his faithful dog; it was called "Old Shep." He came in FIFTH place -- no trophy, but did get $5.00 for the rides at the fair! Who could have possibly known just-ten-years-later that he would be number one!? :O
@@johnbattles1002 nice tidbit of info, John. It just goes to show how incredible it is that Angelina was already an accomplished singer as a 10 year old.
@@jerrylarocque9600 , yes, indeed, she was and is! Thanks!
Alan, the one thing which separates the two is the soulfulness and sincerity in their voices. Angelina lives the song while Elvis had fun with the song. Although his voice was sensational I never believed a word of what he was singing. Angelina's version of the same song can bring tears to my eyes. I would describe that as a significant difference.
I was 12 years old when Elvis became famous in 1956. For the next few years most teenage girls in America would have disagreed with you. All my male friend and I, also agreed that Elvis sang his songs with great emotion. He was as good at that as any other male singer of his time. Before he overdosed at age 42, he had become a little jaded, and probably wasn't as consistent with the emotion he brought to his songs.
In particular Angelina's version of "always on my mind" takes my heart, while Elvis's version touches me less. This is not a criticism of Elvis, I think all his performances shown here were outstanding. I love his deep voice colour when he sings the word "you". But somehow Angelina's voice works like a magnet: pulling me closer all the time.
Nice that you point out that most of the music as it's origins in Black American culture. Elvis being white obviously helped these artists ultimately.
Hi Alan :) Maybe you could react to "A song for A", very few has reacted to this song. I really like this song.
Well Rock Around The Clock from 1952 and a hit with Bill Haley & His Comets 1954 is earlier and are widely regarded as THE start for Rock´n Roll it was the first real hit. Ballads there are lots of earlier, always harder to place them in music categories. At least worth mentioning if you talk of the history of Rock. Then we have Chuck Berry etc, Ike Turner was early too 1951. BUT you forgot the BEST Elvisversion by Angelina; Welcome To My World!!! (5) Angelina Jordan 'Welcome To My World' (Elvis cover/lyrics) RC Alas - UA-cam
You're quite right. If I were to redo this video, I would incorporate all these points
I think you are right, her voice needs to grow...but it seems to be headed in the right direction ?
I enjoyed your presentation, but I want to add a couple thoughts. The birth of rock n roll surely does not have a specific moment or person who should get the credit, but I don’t think one can exclude Little Richard, who was recording in the early and mid-50’s (before Elvis) with full-on rock n roll vibes. It’s fair to say that Elvis brought it mainstream in a way no one else did, but that’s surely because he was white-and that made the music acceptable to a much larger base of listeners. And, of course, he was absolutely great.
But I thought it was curious that you chose to highlight rock n roll in these recordings because I don’t consider any of them actually rock n roll. Some, I think, are much closer to Elvis’s gospel background, and all are ballads. I think it’s very hard to “compare” Elvis and Angelina, even when they sing the same songs. Especially when we have a twelve year old vs. the King. There’s no question in my mind that Angelina is the best singer I’ve ever heard. She covers much more musical territory than Elvis did, and she’s in her early teens. The comparison we saw today is taking place in Elvis’s home playing field, and I think what is overlooked with Angelina is that she takes on the greatest singers singing their best songs-and many, many times, I like Angelina’s version better. She covers such an incredible range so beautifully: Adele, Frank Sinatra, James Brown, Billie Holiday, Screamin Jay, Elton, Etta James, Queen, ... I don’t take anything away from Elvis and his monumental contributions to music, but I’ve lived through the careers of both Elvis and Angelina-and I don’t think there’s been a day in the past three years when I haven’t listened to Angelina sing. No one else comes close to that.
Well said John. We're in agreement.
Yes, rock & roll was an idea whose time had come. In hindsight, the story would have been more complete with Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bill Haley, etc
And I am not close to doing an exclusive Elvis channel. These past 6 months I only highlight the total wonder of AJ. Today's video is #25
@Alan Yes, I believe I’ve seen most, if not all, of your postings about Angelina. I appreciate the time and preparation you put into reviews and reactions. It’s interesting to try to put Angelina into context within the music scene. I just don’t believe I’ve heard anyone comparable.
@@johnvasi Sometimes I am in a precarious position. I am walking a delicate tightrope.
I often have contrasted AJ with a legend. To say she is not better can offend the AJ purists. To say she is better would sometimes be dishonest. So I have o choose my words very carefully.
Having said all that, it is not enough to say AJ is in a category by herself. What I am really trying to communicate is that AJ is redefining the nature of art in front of our eyes
I think you might have mention their age difference at the time each sang the same song. Elvis's voice was much more developed than Angelina's. Just wait until Angelina is as old as Elvis was in those clips. First how old was he in 1956, for example?
The guitar man let her down a bit on always on my mind.
Hmm - did you forget “How great thou art”?
Why use the 1977 Elvis version of Its now or never ? The year he died ,?
I do not think the influence Chuck Berry had on rocknroll can be underestimated.
Quite right. He is definitely part of the story
Elvis introduced rock and roll to white people :)
Mike, 😊 I also believe Elvis introduced White soul to Black folk.
Alan, have you reacted to AJ new song ? 7th Heaven? Been waiting for you and is now over a week. I appreciate your reactions.
Hi I go out of my way not to rush immediate reactions to AJ's new videos.
1 There's such a rush of other reactors to do the same
2 When I make the videos, I try and weave a story into the video- maybe something about the history or some context.
3 I'm not a very good immediate reactor. I like to hear a good song over a period of time- like allowing a good wine to improve with age.
Having said all that, her new single is excellent!!
@@thealanpapier Good enough Alan. Is good to know. That explains your inept comments. Thank you and will look forward to hear it when you present it.
Thanks for sharing! If you have a second, I uploaded a cover of Jason Isbell. As a fellow music fan, I'd love if you'd take a listen. It's on my page. Hope you like it!
Alan, here is a new release of an Adele cover sung by Angelina. ua-cam.com/video/8gJuprckBxI/v-deo.html
For me, hearing Angelina sing this song was a profoundly moving experience. Forget trying to intellectualize what you hear. Just close your eyes and listen to it with your heart and soul.
I actually heard it live an hour ago. Everything she touches turns divine
@@thealanpapier At fifteen years of age she joins the short list of uniquely gifted people that were genetically endowed with the Midas Touch. I like to say that her aura is so bright that we need sunglasses to be in her presence. She is a once-in-a-generation talent whom, when you look at all of her accomplishments, happens to also be a genius level talent.
@@TheBlaster54 I believe we need to describe her in an even more spectacular way.
She redefines the nature of art. She asks of her listener, "What's the maximum you can feel?" And it's not just a one off experience. It's every time- even with repeat performances. No other artist in any other field asks that question every time.
@@thealanpapier I agree about the question of feel. However, IMO, it goes beyond our capacity to feel. Based on my own experiences, the most visceral aspect of watching and listening to an Angelina performance for me is the all consuming feeling that her beautiful soul is reaching out and caressing my soul via my visual and auditory systems. That, unique Angelina Affect produces an experience that for me is a key element of our becoming hopelessly and uncontrollably smitten, mesmerized and hypnotized by the immensity of her other worldly talent. We may have to create a separate reactor’s guide to describing their experiences. This guide will house all of the known and newly created adjectives and platitudes we can conjure up that they can be appropriately attributed to Angelina’s immense talent.
@@TheBlaster54 Well said.
Sometimes it's difficult to know when an emotional experience ends and a spiritual experience begins
the volume is unequal on most of the comparisons.. it is a REALLy bad idea to do that. hope you fix that. there was plenty of rock and roll around before elvis.. just that it was called race music or blues.. elmore james rocked more than elvis ever did... elvis was a pop singer of his time. much like angelina is becoming ,, well, i hope not, but it looks pretty grim
Is it really the moment ? Don't you have anything to say about "7th Heaven", the incedibly talentful last song of Angelina ???
