@Grandpa Reacts "Is she singing about the actual animal or something else?" You caught on! Not too many do, actually.
Fact#1: The sound engineer on set was having trouble with getting the pre- recorded song track to play so Elvis offered to sing this live during filming. The director, Michael Curtiz, wasn't so sure that Elvis could pull it off. But after some back and forth, Mr. Curtiz, said to Elvis, "Only if Miss White agrees to sing it live also." So Elvis went to Miss Kitty White and explained the situation and asked her if she'd be willing to sing it live on set. She said yes. So those on set that day got a live show. Talk about lucky.
Kitty White's daughter revealed in an interview years later (for a magazine) that her mother admired Elvis and said, "He was one of the nicest and finest gentlemen I'd ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with." Miss Kitty White held nothing but the highest regard for Elvis- according to her daughter.
Fact#2: Jessie Mae Robinson was both Miss Kitty White's best friend and a songwriter in her own right. She wrote a lot of songs that Miss Kitty White recorded during her career. But there is one song she wrote for Elvis specifically called "Let's Have A Party" (it's in his movie "Loving You").
"King Creole" has one heck of a movie soundtrack. From beginning to end, it has everything you could possibly want.
It's my favorite Elvis movie soundtrack (thus far; I'm hardly an expert).

Above is a link to "Blue New Orleans": TSOE (The Spirit Of Elvis). About 33 minutes long but oh- so- worth it (maybe you could break it up a couple of songs a- piece if you want some Elvis reaction material). The songs in this independently put together soundtrack are amazing. I love it.
    Sorry for the lengthy post.
Blessings to you & yours 💕

Thank you for the info! This opening scene is my first real memory of seeing a movie in a theater. I was 4 years old & transfixed by those two bluesy voices blending together so well. And of course, Elvis's face.
Jump ahead to the early 70's & I got to see just how beautiful that face really was. I saw him in concert twice & the second time got a good close look. In person he was so pretty it was hard to believe he was real. And that voice, just as beautiful. I was about 18 & into Zeppelin & all the Rock bands of the day. But Elvis was special to me...all the way back to being a little child looking up at that movie screen.
And isn't it wonderful that everyone who ever met Elvis or worked with him only has positive things to say about him.
Thank you again for posting such an interesting & informative comment.

Love her voice! Elvis was the first white artist to duet with a black woman in music and movie history. But they never talk about that. Go figure.

@Mike Mikesell She has a lovely voice. However, I think that distinction goes to Bing Crosby. He & Frances Langford & Louis Armstrong recorded "Pennies From Heaven" on Decca Records in 1936.
Bing Crosby & Louis Armstrong would record & perform together many times, on radio & in movies. One such movie is "High Society" released in 1956.
Now Bing Crosby was actually an admirer of Elvis and when asked what he thought of Elvis shortly after Elvis had died, Bing Crosby said, "Oh, I think he was wonderful. He did so much for so many. His death is a great loss, a tragedy, that will be felt for years after. He was to rock 'n' roll what Al Jolson was to jazz. People like Mr. Elvis Presley only come along once in a lifetime."
Elvis may have been one of the first white entertainers to do duet with a black singer/ entertainer in a major motion picture.
I watched AMC & TCM movies growing up but since you brought that up, the only other two white performers I can recall performing with a black singer/ actor/ dancer with in a major motion picture are Shirley Temple & Bing Crosby.
Which is really weird when you think about it.
