This ending was amazing!! I can't wait to see more about next X-men stories. The ones that I'm eager to see are Sword (I'm still waiting to see Wiccan and Hulking in this story), Excalibur (I want to see a Betsy vs Saturnyne event), X-men (The return of Laura and the others from the Vault), Marauders (My guess is that this story will be linked to The new seat in the Quiet Council with Sebastian maybe trying to put his son in Jean's place) and Hellions (The cover for next issue is just hillarious and I can't wait to see Mister Sinister new plans). Also I'm glad Isca is confirmed as an Omega, I was suspicious she was an Omega and I was right.
Thank you for all your analysis! It has been so helpful! I’ve enjoyed the series. I was fearful that it may become a dud after last week, but I truly enjoyed the ending and what may be next for Krakoa and mutantdom.
That Storm looking to the stars bit is just a reference to the very next arc, her Jean and Cyclops teaming up with the Shi’Ar. Notice the Shi’Ar pop up every few months at this point...something brewing there. Also Storm will be in the returning Black Panther comic CAN’T WAIT FOR THAT!
Definitely do the video. There is a lot to unpack in that solicit image. I could nit pick a few things from x of swords, like characters acting out of character, but overall the ending was fantastic. Honestly I wasn't a fan of Excalibur after HoX & PoX but with Apocalypse's arc I definitely need to revisit it and try again. Its rare for an event to have even a satisfactory ending but XoS was a solid B+. What really made it even more enjoyable was reading it along with you guys. I love the positivity of this channel which is really rare these days. If I wasn't already waist deep in reading every X book since Uncanny 94 I would definitely be reading along with your podcast. Looking forward to the future!
I loved this issue. The art was amazing and reread the Cyclops cavalry scene with the animated X-Men theme which was so much fun. The characterization and world building made me care more about the things spiraling from this event. I want to see what happens with all the players in Otherworld. The X-Men shined and gave me a hell of stand up and cheer moment. Great finish!
Correct me if I'm wrong (I haven't bought these 3 new issues yet so I may not be 100%) but Betsy has the starlight sword and Genesis has/had the twilight sword
@@voodoomamajuju1654 The Starlight sword was among the pieces, Saturnyne used in her mosaic spell to resurrect the Capt. Britain Corps, while the Twilight Sword is suppose to be "missing in action"...like Betsy.
If you do a 'reign of x' preview examination video, would also be cool to pull up the equivilent dawn of x teaser and review just how much it showed of what's played out over the last year.
The art! Holy freaking cow! So good. I feel bad for Red Root, I hope she is saved :( Isca on Arakko means she's gonna be showing up on a X team sometime I hope. Stoked for everything I see in RoX and more of Otherworld.
I loved this event, from beginning to end, all 22 chapters of it ( I know some people weren't thrilled with 22 chapters, but compare that with Death Metal, which has only 7 chapters and went an entire 2 months only releasing weekly One-Shots between chapters 4&5 and 22 chapters in 2.5 months don't seem that bad..!). I loved the conversation between Cyclops and the Quiet Council and Scott's refusal to back down from what he felt was right and the scene ending with Magneto giving him a good ol' "atta boy" with Xavier busting out a proud, knowing smile. A couple of videos back when you proposed the SWORD station being wielded by Magneto against the forces of Amenth I said something to the effect of " I'll lose my shit if this happens"....well it did happen, although slightly different, and I did indeed lose my shit!! I am very excited for the Reign of X and what's to come...The Vault story finally picks back up in issue #18 of X-Men...the teaser page for Reign of X shows Maverick, The Shadow King and Arcade and I am interested in what's happening with all of those characters ( ok, not so much with Maverick but everyone else sure!). The new SWORD ongoing, the marriage of Bei & Cypher, what's going on with Captain Britain Betsy Braddock? How fucked up will Gorgon be because of Resurrection corruption? And your idea of having one major X-title event a year and having the next wave of stories flow from that is a great idea and would not at all be surprised if that's what they do. Great video as always, looking forward to the livestream post-X of Swords breakdown and analysis!!
I would surely enjoy expanded coverage on the released reign of x teaser. Good to see that Hickman remembered warren and monet exist. As for this concluding issue, while I wasn't enamored with the expansion of xos from it's original dozen or so books to the 22 that readers got, in addition to the tonal shift to benny hill satire in the middle of this story, I love the seeds that were planted throughout in relation to the future of the x line.
This event ended strong. Only the middle was weak, issues 14-8 roughly. When the weird contests were going on basically. When things were serious this event was awesome. I can't wait for more.
@Comic Book Herald you did predict quite a bit of this story, but as I predicted they spent a lot of time setting up Jamie Braddock, an omega-level reality warper, as the king of Avalon for absolutely no payoff. I learned more about the antagonist characters in 9 issues of X-tinction Agenda than I learned about Apocalypse's entire family in 22 issues of this story. We were supposed to get this epic final duel between Apocalypse and his wife wielding their legendary blades, but instead what did we get? A battle where not only did neither side use their mutant powers, but they didn't display any unique abilities of their supposedly legendary swords. They went out of their way to show that Moira helped Apocalypse rescue his Horsemen in a previous life, but she played absolutely no role in this story despite having invaluable knowledge she could've contributed. There have been some terrible X-crossovers in the past, but X of Swords is unquestionably the worst. I felt like I was reading someone's plot point checklist rather than an actual story with weight and meaning. As far as I'm concerned, Jonathan Hickman is a half-talented hack who doesn't understand his own story. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Storm almost caused an international incident to claim a sword whose purpose was, ultimately, to be used in a manner no different than any other polished, reflective sword by any idiot who's watched Clash of the Titans. Doug Ramsey is now in love with and married to someone he hadn't known until five minutes ago just because he can't understand her? And how exactly did refusing to yield in a one-on-one duel turn into an all-out war? Apocalypse's children were supposed to be his most powerful Horsemen ever, yet two of them were defeated by mutants who didn't even have their powers at the time? I didn't have high expectations for this event, but I expected better than this.
The event was ok, it had some weird turns but the conclusion was good. Dawn of X titles have had an almost shocking different vibe from Hox/Pox and while I have enjoyed Dawn of X and I don't mind humor, I would love to see Reign of X take itself a bit more seriously. Also, I wonder how much longer I will keep Excalibur on my pull list with Apocalypse out of it. As always incredible coverage that increases my enjoyment of the comics I read.
I binge-read the whole event after a recent death in the family. It was exciting & a great piece of escapism to take my mind off things. Almost couldn't put it down.
I'm also curious about the dead Hellions that everyone seems to have forgotten (in story as well, sadly). Assuming Empath barely made it through the gate... Nanny, Orphan Maker, Wild Child, and the Sinister Who Lost the Cape would probably have warped resurrections as well. I wonder how resurrecting a Sinister clone that died on Otherworld would pan out. So many questions. Certainly something to speculate on til the next issue.
They didn't die in Otherworld though. They died after crossing over into Amenth. Theoretically, they can be resurrected fine, as it was the conflux of all realities in Otherworld that was causing the issues.
@@kriskramer1969 Oh, true. Had to closely re-examine the issue. I assumed they were in Dryador trying to get at the Swords. But it still isn't clear to me. All these dimensional shenanigans are confusing.
So, they did stick the landing !!! Please do a krakin' Krakoa on this teaser picture ! :) Really surprised to see Nimrod from Rachel Summers future ! I really love the Krakoa nation and I hope there will be a lot of stories before it starts to fall apart.
From what I heard in the press release, C.B. told us to use this teaser which shows upcoming hints that will be mentioned in the ongoing and (possibly) upcoming series runs starting in December and throughout 2021. Also, if Marvel Made reaches its goal for the DOFP Paragon Collection set, we need to study how the new Prequel issue to Days of Future Past (by Claremont himself) and the X-Men Legends series will impact into the continuity of the X-Men timeline as a whole, Reign of X of course. I hope everybody (if all 1,200) pre-ordered it! Btw, seeing Saturnyne using magnesis to turn the helm into a staff, Magneto hasn’t even seen this, but surely she already knows.
I was just as excited seeing the X-Men go to war with Doop present. Good to know he’s on Krakoa. I’d like to believe they went back to Amenth to help with Arrako’s (land and people) transition to earth. Will they be Okkara again or renamed something completely different when united?
I agree that the 3 X of Swords issues (Creation, Stasis, and Destruction) are all masterpieces. I'm still needing an explanation of how Saturnyne got THIS powerful. It's crazy. How did the formerly powerless, second-in-command to Roma character become this unshakable, nigh-omnipotent 'White Witch'?
I would not have enjoyed this event nearly as much without your commentary. Excellent work.

Isca will join the Council (i guess)... Maybe Beast too?
@@nathansalim I think it'd be better for Isca to be the new Captain to replace Gorgon
Loved it! Satisfying for me, LOVE that ending. I'm curious what you think about that teaser tho lol
I admit the leading up to this was kinda underwhelming, but all these 3 issues wrapping things up where spectacular
Would love love love to see a Reign theory vid and also still waiting on that otherworld break down! Love your videos dude!
Thank you for all your analysis! It has been so helpful! I’ve enjoyed the series. I was fearful that it may become a dud after last week, but I truly enjoyed the ending and what may be next for Krakoa and mutantdom.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the poster! It's cool to see Laura and Darwin there...
Very satisfying ending! Would definitely like a vid on the teaser, precog it up!
The event was dope, wasn’t what I thought it would be but epic and pushed the envelope enough.
The ending of this is what I expected for the entire run.
Sign me up for that Reign of X video.
Saturnyne defines a whole new level for a “slave of love”
I really amaze how she pulls everything for one man.
People like her are the reason things go to absolute shit. She needs to be humbled.
Reign of X video for suuuuure
The issue felt like the X-Men's Endgame (the last 1/3 at least). So great to watch the X-Men answer Cyclops's call and rain hell on Amenth
Yes! Krakin Teaser breakdown please!!!!
Betsy has the Twilight sword.
@@avburns Gotcha thanks man!
If you do a 'reign of x' preview examination video, would also be cool to pull up the equivilent dawn of x teaser and review just how much it showed of what's played out over the last year.
I loved this event. It is definitely the best x event in a long time.
The art! Holy freaking cow! So good. I feel bad for Red Root, I hope she is saved :( Isca on Arakko means she's gonna be showing up on a X team sometime I hope. Stoked for everything I see in RoX and more of Otherworld.
Reign of X video for sure!!!
Just imagine the dialogue perfection we would read in an Apocalypse vs. Thanos standoff!
So did I miss something or was captain avalan deal with Saturn never addressed. She made him ask for help but was that it?
The fights were all disappointing, no exception, and also all that drama for the swords and they were just "keys to the Otherworld"...
What happened to those who died? Gorgon? What happened to those killed by Sinister?
To be continued
I suspect we're gonna hear about every one of them again in the near future.
Is that Arcade in the Reign teaser?
The panel with Isca changing sides (and colors)...I think that was Pyro that she killed right before that.
I think it was Banshee.
@@alejandromilici7763 I thought so too at first, but the red tanks on his back were a pretty big indicator.
Its the Explodey Boy, from EMPYRE: X-MEN tie-in.
Pleaseee do a Krakin Krakoa on the teaser 👏🏽✨
Hear hear ! @comicbookherald
Question for the Saturday panel, could you say that is was a O.L Saturnyne event just as much as this was an Apocalypse event?
Need that reign speculation vid
I admire your work ethic!!🔥👌
Is that Nimrod?
Do the teaser for reign!!!!!!! Also I love the fact you and blerd tap in with each other 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I do like the outcome of X of Swords, the introduction of lots of Mutants from Arakko is a great. Idea.
That teaser plus the end of this event....oh my frackin glob
What is your favourite event since 2012? I’d like to see a vid on the teaser I’m sure you’ve probably got a few good ones about Arcade.
A teaser vid would be nice
Yes yes do the teaser 🥺
Event ended well!! Is Storm doing the whole galactic wakanda thing with Black Panther?
Well I would imagine intergalactic trip is a superheroes version of couples counseling so I hope so
I'm also curious about the dead Hellions that everyone seems to have forgotten (in story as well, sadly).
They can ressurrect everybody, only Empath stays dead, please
So, they did stick the landing !!!
I'm still kind of not sure what to think of Apocalypse as a Family Man instead of preparing Mutantkind to fight some Celestial Scheme, but I can't complain about the ambition, the world-building and the deep knowledge of X-Men lore from the writers !
Please do a krakin' Krakoa on this teaser picture ! :)
Really surprised to see Nimrod from Rachel Summers future !
I really love the Krakoa nation and I hope there will be a lot of stories before it starts to fall apart.
Ok this was epic just wow
Please no Vita on a Storm ongoing
Their Marauders issue wasn't perfect but they captured Storm and her powers very well.
I nominate Doop and Broo for the Quiet Council. Pls make it happen lol
I nominate Gabby Kinney and Gwenpool
yeah hard to tell if isca is now with the x-men since it only says her sword is in arakko, which didn't say if it was in earth or amenth.
She’s with them as long as they’re ‘winning’
I can't wait to see arakki mutants hanging out on Krakoa. Most hyped for Nightcrawler's mutant religion it looks like he is starting in the reign of X
I wanna see a vid on the Reign of X
Dave! We made it!😭
Do the teaser!
20 and 22 are fantastic. It's really too bad that some of the middle issues were awful.
