One thing I never understand in character creators is why the developers don't just add a color palette with RGB values. Just let me pick any color from the visible range, no need for a list of 69420 colors, just a simple multicolored square with a slider
I really appreciate the passion people have for the game, but it's criminal nobody adds support for the shortstack races and tall body options. Half-orcs and short people are played too, you know.
They knew what they were doing. They locked out decent options some NPCs got, and left you with like ONE decent preset to pick from. One of the people working there has too much power and they gutted the original character customization to spite people.
Can you elaborate on that last part? Isn't it the case that when a studio is developing a game, there are more than just one person involved with creating a feature (in this case character customization) and finalizing it? How is it even possible for just _one_ person to screw over the character creation because they're... mad at people? For what?
Wasn't that a rumor on v? I thought it was more the case that since they didn't have robust software to give you the options you would have in a Black Dessert Online or BGS games, they had to limit the faces so companion or unique models maintained their uniqueness. Otherwise the player might select that model and it would break immersion when they met their doppelganger in-game.
@@GothaBillsAndDeath that probably is a rumor, yeah. But the justification is just silly, since you already meet your doppelganger in-game. Just in the grove alone you can find like 3 models with Alfira's face, which is a preset available to the player. Might as well make more presets availble to the player if you're already gonna find those faces in random npcs.
Mate great work and good luck with the channel! I'm currently trying to sift through the gameplay, equipment, and balance mods to find things that enhance the experience without being purely there to provide an overpowered option. If you ever did a video on mods of that type that can integrate into the experience I'd be super keen to watch. Sifting through 500 dick mods on Nexus is soul-destroying. Perhaps we need to wait until the mod tools are out and in full force.
Look up my collection on Nexus "Difficulty, Immersion, Quality" or just sort BG3 collections by endorsements I'm 4th. Or join the Discord link in there. I've been in the process of doing the same thing, I've put off making videos for too long I've been so far down the mod rabbit hole now though. I'll update my "9. Featured mods by category" section with the recent changelogs, you can skim through that. Mods I really dig are: - Vanilla Equipment Overhaul with Arsenal Overhaul and the patches. - Mobility Overhaul with Equipment Library dependancy. (get load order from Vanilla Equipment) - Spell Rebalance series of mods by Syrchalis (basically all their mods are great, I'm still sifting through and conflict testing them.) - Honour Feature Unlocker (also included in Stronger Bosses and Enemies now) for much needed nerfs. Edit: Elven weaponry series of mods is pretty balanced too.
Exact same thing here man, watching MXR back in 2014 bricking my Skyrim because I had no idea what I was doing. The good days! lol Edit: I'm basically obliged to put an MXR reference in every video haha
It gets worse/better? Imagine being into Zork as a child and now modding all applicable games while fast-approaching your 50's. Upside, I've always been a technologist so I embraced modding as soon as it was possible to do so, downside, time is the only resource that isn't renewable. 😂
@@Cyromantik Modding is such a mammoth of a time sink. I'd get more videos out or even play the game, if I didn't spend most of my spare time maintaining a giant list 😂
10:04 I may or may not have created a custom tattoo for my monk of the Raven Queen, which has the sheet music for the first 4 bars of "Welcome to the Black Parade". 🤣
As someone who has dabbled in modding for a good few years now, i STILL have no idea how you guys keep up with this much shit. It makes my brain hurt so much
Maybe it’s not available for all races? Also some mods were made for early release and still have things in them that the full release opened up for CC.
@@grymmoire I checked a bunch of races and they had it. And the mod is pretty new, so I guess the author pulled it from the NPC files without checking and I just went with it lol.
I really just want a mod that lets me have abs on the normal female body type. Haven't been able to find one yet. I found one that just takes the large body and shrinks it down to normal size, but it looks off. I just want the toned stomach.
Everyone recommends mods and they're great. But a thing no one tells you: Mods can break if there's a patch. I heard there's problems with mods after patch especially. How bad is it really?
TLDR; Mods should be added very intentionally, they should be tested for compatibility, all of the available information should be read, avoid too many changes mid playthrough, removing mods can cause problems, update the game once your mods are updated. Depends on the mod, and it's all about good modding practice. For the most part people with problems didn't read enough. Patches will break stuff, but that's why you turn off auto updates and wait for updates, even so I've never had a patch be too explosive. I've still got a save from Patch 2 where I've added and removed mods, intentionally not followed good modding practice, and done most of the testing for my collection on it with no major issues. People will ruin things when removing mods too, I do it very sparingly. Some mods are going to bake into your save in a way where removing them is destructive, though some have uninstallers in the optional files. Before updating class/spell mods you should respec your characters to level 1 martial classes, people not doing this is probably the most common issue with users of my collection.
@@BaldursGoonsack Sounds good. I'm planning to finish my current play through before i start to patch and update my mods. I may not be one of the first who post their epilogues here and may not get all the attention fast. :P But at least my game won't break that way. So i'll do as you say and better not patch or update mods in the middle of act 3. Thanks a lot, was very helpful :)
Honestly the best way to prevent this is to make a copy of your entire local game files (I have my folder named BG3 Modded) and play it as a standalone executable. This prevents it from auto updating so you can test the waters slowly to see what breaks. Plus, it keeps your Steam download clean so you can do multiplayer without any concern
@@TheKeybladeKeeper I did that, they still causes issues. I was a special case of files not downlaoding and what not. So i had to reinstall the game completely
For the most part mods will work in multiplayer so long as you and the people you are playing with have the exact same mods, mod versions, and load order. With some exceptions. Some mods are client side and won't cause problems, others only the host needs, a handful of mods won't work in multiplayer. If you're wanting to do a playthrough with buddies I recommend using a Nexus collection or making your own so it's easy to keep track of the modlist you'll be sharing.
@@xxertz164 Copied from the Larian Discord: For MP that cant join each other: Screenshare with each other Check you have same mods Check its the same versions Check its the same mod load order If that does not work, do this: Remove all mods from your mods folder (or purge if its in vortex) Add one mod or mods in batches Deploy if in vortex, save order or export order if its in bg3mm Open game, see if you can join If you cant, you have found your problem mod If you can, keep going by adding the mods and rinse and repeat the steps above
Not that I'm aware of. I do use Native Camera Tweaks and Remove Camera Move though. First person in BG3 would probably be janky as all hell without official modding tools, a lot of stuff would have to be reworked.
does anybody else have an issue with some costume heads just not being heads (as in like floating stiffly over the default head) and how did you fix it?
Don't hold your breath ahah. We don't have official modding tools on PC yet, later on they may add some mods into the game officially, like they did with DOSII. But that won't be until they get around to the 'Definitive Edition' release.
First time trying mods and alreay it broke my game. Luckily i had a save that was unaffected close to where i was. I only have native mods such as wasd installed, and then 1 single pak file mod which is Better hotbar 2. For some reason that mod made enemies not react at all to attacks out of their sightline. they just sott there doing nothing, and so did enemies around them :/
Actually Better Hotbar 2 shouldn't require it. Could just be a vanilla bug you experienced honestly, that being an issue caused from those mods sounds wild.
i also tried wrapping my head around how a hotbar altering mod could cause something like that, but everything was fine 10 minutes before installing those mods. @@BaldursGoonsack
Most mods will work with multiplayer, however you and the people you are playing with must have the same mods, mod versions, and load order. Very few exceptions to the rule.
Possibly, but there are mods to bypass that. The old one, "Achievement Enabler," still works but may have some compatability issues with some mods... I think BG3 script extender also has the same feature built in but I may be wrong on that. Basically, modding and unlocking achievements are not mutually exclusive.
Yeah Script Extender can do it, just gotta make sure the line for it is included in the config file. The "Norbyte's Script Extender" on Nexus makes that easy to have set up. Unsure of compatibility issues with Achievement Enabler myself, I never had an issue using it. Get more out of script extender though, might as well use it.
I am very sad, because there are so little customisation options for strong males. We truly live in society... Society likes to play anime girls more than strong and handsome men.
I find it kind of upsetting that all mod videos are focused in female appearance. I understand dudes want to make their perfect gal or whatever, but there are women who play the game too and women who also like to create beautiful male Tavs. It is kinda disappointing
NOTE: Mods which use the beard slot for elves can cause selecting "Randomise Appearance" to crash the game. They will be marked with !!!

There weren't any good heads for Gith. So I took it upon myself and learned blender. Worked like a charm 10/10, will always create my own heads now
I have a sinking feeling this is going to be like my sims 4 mod folder 😶
As a player new to modding BG3, I'm so excited for this video! You are the real MVP here! Thank you so much!
Giggling your way through the phrase "strong mommy energy" merits a sub
can't wait to see what people make when the modding tools are released
🙏 I am patiently awaiting the ability to have more than 1 face tattoo/makeup mod.
omg now that I know there’s customization mods like this, I definitely will be playing this!
They knew what they were doing. They locked out decent options some NPCs got, and left you with like ONE decent preset to pick from. One of the people working there has too much power and they gutted the original character customization to spite people.
Dang, you really think that’s what went down? BG3 is fantastic but the character creator left me a lil disappointed.
Yeah I heard about that but didn't dig into it, I cringed and just didn't want what I was hearing to be true lmao
Mollymock’s horns or even Jester’s, they both had jewelry in some artwork 😂 no surprise they’re popular.
I WISH i could mod on PS5. As much hair options as they added to BG3, I really wish to have seen more.
Got so many customisation mods installed right now that the character creator is basically its own game. I feel for you.
In a few months Larian is going to give us access to a few Mods!!

No problemo, more to come! Just been chewing up all my spare time building up my mod collection lol
Cheers for highlighting these man, keep up the great work ❤
Thanks! Will do!
FINALLY!! TRUE DWARF BEARDS! ROCK AND FUCKING STONEEE!!!
Amen! Dwarves are playable now lol
@@BaldursGoonsack Aye! The default beards looked miserable on the Dwarves
Maaaan I love those Dwarf beards but I’ve never installed mods before. 😅
Kinda disturbed by all of the prideless bald Dwarf npcs.
Thanks. Most of the stuff in the video I didn’t even know about, so I’m excited to go mod shopping again. I hope you reach your sub* goal soon.
Thanks! Here's hoping lol
This helped me so much, thank you man, this video deserves more views!!
Thank you for this video! Such a great oversight of all the great customisation mods
Glad you enjoyed it!
PROPER DWARVEN BEARDS! GOOD, ONE GRUDGE TO REMOVE FROM THE DAMMAZ KRON
planning on getting a pc soon mainly to play bg3, def gonna plan on downloading some of these :))
Just finished your essential mods needed and at the end thought..... hope he covered cosmetic ones too then boom haha amazing content brother!
I'll have to remake all my videos here soon, modding scene is ever evolving lol! Thanks!
Mods I really dig are:
- Vanilla Equipment Overhaul with Arsenal Overhaul and the patches.
- Mobility Overhaul with Equipment Library dependancy. (get load order from Vanilla Equipment)
- Spell Rebalance series of mods by Syrchalis (basically all their mods are great, I'm still sifting through and conflict testing them.)
- Honour Feature Unlocker (also included in Stronger Bosses and Enemies now) for much needed nerfs.
Edit: Elven weaponry series of mods is pretty balanced too.
Brings me back to mmoxreviews skyrim modding videos, fuck I feel old. i would have been about 15~ ish. Im in my mid 20's now lol.
Exact same thing here man, watching MXR back in 2014 bricking my Skyrim because I had no idea what I was doing. The good days! lol
Edit: I'm basically obliged to put an MXR reference in every video haha
@@BaldursGoonsack how the mighty has fallen. i wanna go back, i was happier then.

Cool, thanks for this treasure of useful info
Now i can build the ultimate eshays thanks to these hair style options
Need a mod to replace Durge's favourite knife with a pair of scissors or just a big ciggi model.
10:04 I may or may not have created a custom tattoo for my monk of the Raven Queen, which has the sheet music for the first 4 bars of "Welcome to the Black Parade". 🤣
It’s so funny cause one of the human male faces is literally me irl so I don’t need any mods 😭😭
Lmao
As someone who has dabbled in modding for a good few years now, i STILL have no idea how you guys keep up with this much shit. It makes my brain hurt so much

I recognize that song that is playing is from Baldur's Gate 1 Enhanced Edition main menu theme song. I was completed that game 0:58
I love the BG1/2 soundtracks!
great video bro
Appreciate it!
You're doing the lords work brother
Thanks!
So many options that could look good. Don't know if I have the motivation to pick through them all and install them...
I'm confused to why the mod author added the "Voss Hairstyle" its already in the game for you to choose
Oh yeah you're right haha
Maybe it’s not available for all races? Also some mods were made for early release and still have things in them that the full release opened up for CC.
@@grymmoire I checked a bunch of races and they had it. And the mod is pretty new, so I guess the author pulled it from the NPC files without checking and I just went with it lol.
modders doing my female dwarf/halflings dirty
It's been a good while since I saw some cool mods for the shorties. A man can dream though, a man can dream.
Right? I'm getting tired of the treatment, I just want to make my female dwarf cute but most mods don't care 'bout the shorties :(

@@BaldursGoonsack Oh many thanks! I'll have to check that once I'm done with my current playthrough, and thank you for providing the link as well :>
I really just want a mod that lets me have abs on the normal female body type. Haven't been able to find one yet. I found one that just takes the large body and shrinks it down to normal size, but it looks off. I just want the toned stomach.
"XS Sporty Sexy Map - fit muscle body texture" could give this a try.
you need only one apperance mod: make up removal for NPCs.
Strong mommy energy made me subscribe
But at least my game won't break that way.

Hope we get console mods soon cuz I can’t be bothered to get the game and play on pc. Prefer to chill on the couch
Could just use a controller with the PC, console modding will not be as robust.
trying to do a Bloodborne look, any mod that adds the Bandanas npcs have? i havent had any luck looking for them myself
What does VFX support mean? And what does this do to a head that does or does not have it?

@@BaldursGoonsack ah I see, thank you very much
I know what im gonna do when I get a new cpu and motherboard.
Thaaaaanks ♥
I wish there where mods that added body types. Its so stupid to have only 2 presets for each gender.
That requires a lot of work, all head presets/hair/horns would need to be edited to fit, all clothing and armour would need to be edited to fit.
i love this video
has anyone had trouble playing multiplayer with mods ? i'm new to modding and i can't really find any reasons online on why i wouldn't be able to.
@BaldursGoonsack yeah ive been using nexus and used the same mods and load order and such but it just hasn't worked
@@xxertz164 Copied from the Larian Discord:
For MP that cant join each other:
Screenshare with each other
Check you have same mods
Check its the same versions
Check its the same mod load order
If that does not work, do this:
Remove all mods from your mods folder (or purge if its in vortex)
Add one mod or mods in batches
Deploy if in vortex, save order or export order if its in bg3mm
Open game, see if you can join
If you cant, you have found your problem mod
If you can, keep going by adding the mods and rinse and repeat the steps above
Heads and hair. Whooppee! Any 1st peson mods?
Not that I'm aware of. I do use Native Camera Tweaks and Remove Camera Move though. First person in BG3 would probably be janky as all hell without official modding tools, a lot of stuff would have to be reworked.

In short; this is a face/head/hair model video.
I have big problems with the Eyeballz mods they just don’t working and my Tav ist completely blind
They're not intended to be used together, at least from what I remember. I don't personally use Eyes of the Beholder, it does more than just add eyes.
does anybody else have an issue with some costume heads just not being heads (as in like floating stiffly over the default head) and how did you fix it?
Costume heads? Mean custom? Set Animation Level of Detail to High in your game's video settings.

For some reason that mod made enemies not react at all to attacks out of their sightline. they just sott there doing nothing, and so did enemies around them :/
You need Mod Fixer
I do have mod fixer. tried to post you a clip of what was happening, the comment got deleted tho@@BaldursGoonsack
Actually Better Hotbar 2 shouldn't require it. Could just be a vanilla bug you experienced honestly, that being an issue caused from those mods sounds wild.

Can you still play multiplayer with any mods?
Most mods will work with multiplayer, however you and the people you are playing with must have the same mods, mod versions, and load order. Very few exceptions to the rule.
What does it mean when it doesn’t support VFX
Glowing eyes and what not, e.g. glowing eyes when using Speak with Dead.
When we getting mods on console?
Don't hold your breath lol
No body tatoos except for the face?
"Misc Mods" with the additional scars has a file for a body tattoo, most are for "Unique Tav" only though.
Does this turn off achievements? That's not a big deal for some, but I am trying to get all achievements eventually for this game.
Get more out of script extender though, might as well use it.
dumbass question but what does no vfx support mean? i have some presets but have no idea if they do/dont have it
Some of the speak with dead effects etc. showing up.
I am very sad, because there are so little customisation options for strong males. We truly live in society... Society likes to play anime girls more than strong and handsome men.
Yeah I tried to show off as many different options as I could. Always going to be more customisation for chicks though, I don't write the rules haha
Those Dragonborn ones are awful, I'm sorry but I do not see how anyone would want to use that.

I find it kind of upsetting that all mod videos are focused in female appearance. I understand dudes want to make their perfect gal or whatever, but there are women who play the game too and women who also like to create beautiful male Tavs. It is kinda disappointing
There's definitely more options for dudes now but there really wasn't at the time.
