Carol Bristow and Lu Moss both looking - and sounding - mighty,, mighty fine. Don Barnes and Jeff Carlisi both wailing guitarists, able to switch back and forth between lead and rhythm at the drop of a hat. Twin drummers give it extra oomph. Gotta be one of the best covers ever.
They need to stop inducting rappers and pop stars into the goddamned Rock n Roll hall of fame and start putting rockers in there again STARTING WITH .38 SPECIAL!! This was a great performance. Even the backup singers sound like a church full of hammond organs. I would have lost mind at this concert.
Absolutely...also Bad Company Styx Boston and Blackfoot just to name a couple. I would also love to see Steve Gaines in there as a solo artist but I'm sure that'll never happen
One of the Best Rock Bands ever !!! So underappreciated !!! Saw em the other night in Hiawassee! They were Great !!! Thanks Don for keeping 38 Special going !!! Saw em in 82 and they still got it ! Great Show !!!!
I didn't know this song existed. A M A Z I N G . 38 Special did very few covers over the years, TWO from CCR, the other being Traveling Band. Thanks for posting this classic!!!!!!!
Absolutely the best cover of this song that's ever been in my opinion . I don't even know anyone right now that could touch that. Man they rip it a new one.
Saw these guys in Binghamton N.Y. 1980 or so, Huey Lewis opened. I remember this song was tremendous live. Was one of the best concerts I've ever seen..great memories . Saw them later on at Lake Placid with Night Ranger, another great show, the boys were flying around the arena on wires, man what a great show .
Best cover of this song I`ve ever heard!! You can tell how long ago they did this song...aside from the players, you can tell because Don`s guitar still has the red finish on it that`s been worn/sweated off through the years..I`ve seen them 15 times, always a super show, hoping they can come through the Binghamton area next year.Keep rocking, Don..
.38 has never been "underrated" by anyone. They ruled the 1980's. They were everywhere, and played with everyone!! The late 70's and the 1980's were the best!
You'll probably miss it due to coronavirus, but I saw them with Kansas and if you have your choice of the two, get the Kansas tickets. Don is the only one left, and the guys in the band arent near what these guys were. Barnes puts on an OK show but just OK. Kansas on the other hand who had always been just another rock band, knocked my socks off They were great
yea that was a turbulent time in our county's history, lived in San Fran,in 67-69 Isaw it all anti war protest and our boys coming home mangled and wounded and some in caskets.
it was a sad time in our country a government(LBJ and McNamara) that led us into this conflict and the negative reporting by the press- Charlie(the Viet Cong )were no longer and effective fighting force after after The Tat Offence- the N.V.A. lost 40 to 60 thousand men. And then Marvin the Arvin threw dowtheir weapons and ran like hell to be evacuated by Uncle Sam"s Navy.I am so heartbroken at all the young American Lives wasted in that conflict. And the same thing is going On in Afghanistan their soldiers will not defend their own country the go AWOL by the thousands.NO MORE FORIENG ENTANGLEMENTS-the blood of our youth is to sacred. Thank you for listening God Bless.
michael allison This is not a Anti-War song. The song is about the draft system in Vietnam That only poo boys goto war . And Rich boys just cry to their rich daddy's to pay a doctor to get them out .
Creedence seemed to the one band from the 60s that all the Southern rockers identified most with, even though they were from California. I'm reminded of the fact that Skynyrd played "Proud Mary" in their early daze.
If you read the full information it is listing the band and their rolls with the band. This is not saying that Van Zant is the lead singer on this song. Right below it lists Don Barnes on Guitar and Lead vocal.
.38 Special is awesome - and so is this cover. Incredible. Jeff Carlisi and Don Barnes = one of the best guitar duos in rock history. And Don the triple - threat. Lead & rhythm guitar, at a high level.... and phenomenal vocals. What talent these guys were. Amazing Band. If you dig this.... go check out Bill Leverty's cover of Fortunate Son. A little more high octane. But still soulful - and magnificent, IMO. Bill Leverty is another of the all-time great rockers.
Don Barnes is .38 Special. Carlisi is a killer guitar player. One of the most underrated bands ever. This is what happens when Lynyrd Skynyrd himself teaches your band how to play. See also: Molly Hatchet
Ninguna interpretación de los diferentes grupos o cantantes solistas de acercan a la versión original de Creedence Clearwater Revival por favor no sueñen
I still think Donnie Van Zant...using his dead brothers look, is redundant in this band. Don and Jeff carry all the weight. But damn....those white girls sound black! They can sing!
Because they weren't, or didn't, want to be in "it". That's why the brother of one of them from another famous rock band was "murdered" in a plane crash that run out of fuel with the whole band in it! That's why! They were for real...not for Satan. Do your research. That's why!
By far the best cover of this song I've ever heard. ...38 Special rocks this one !
You havent heard BOB SEAGER COVER OF THIS SONG
Seagers is good, but this is better Imo.
Big Seger fan and his version is good, but this.....this is blistering@@sleboeu
I gotta get some backup singers. They make life so much better.....

Don Barnes is a triple threat: rhythm, lead, and vocals.
Absolutely, bad ass vocals!!!
One of the Best Rock Bands ever !!! So underappreciated !!! Saw em the other night in Hiawassee! They were Great !!! Thanks Don for keeping 38 Special going !!! Saw em in 82 and they still got it ! Great Show !!!!
I miss the 80s, I miss Southern Rock!! Good times. Yep, I saw all the cool bands.
Best time ever to grow up!
Blistering version here. They didn't come to cuddle! Thumbs up!
Some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Still today.
Great musicians story tellers 👍
One of the best covers of this classic.
i agree
Don Barnes nails it !!!
They rocked the s**t outta this!!!
I didn't know this song existed. A M A Z I N G . 38 Special did very few covers over the years, TWO from CCR, the other being Traveling Band. Thanks for posting this classic!!!!!!!
The best cover of this, ever.
Don .. killin' it!
Jeff Carlisi is the one who gave .38 their distinctive sound!
The Eddie Van Halen of southern rock.
Absolutely the best cover of this song that's ever been in my opinion . I don't even know anyone right now that could touch that. Man they rip it a new one.

Saw them later on at Lake Placid with Night Ranger, another great show, the boys were flying around the arena on wires, man what a great show .
I saw them in Birmingham, AL with Huey Lewis. Great show!

That bass player is layin' it down, dayum.
Very underrated band, man I loved growing up in this era, rock was out of site,, band after band could just tear it up!
You know it!
true me too
.38 has never been "underrated" by anyone. They ruled the 1980's. They were everywhere, and played with everyone!! The late 70's and the 1980's were the best!
NOPE,38 SPECIAL WAS NEVER UNDER RATED.THATS JUST YOU!!!!
@@scotabot7826 YUP SO TRUE,NEVER UNDERRATED AT ALL.WAS JUST MIKE PUSSYS,BAD OPINION.
Y'all... Y'all... Y'all... Haha! Great cover!
What a kick ass version !
Nice cover true to the original if not jacked up and shot from a cannon. Well balanced
Good description. They definitely poured some gasoline on a classic and made it a little hotter.
I always wondered how this band would sound if they just cut loose and rocked without all the high production records... I like this far better!
Best cover ever kicks ass!!!!
Dang... I just jammed my brains out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
very good song and great job on it.
love this version of the CCRcover
Larry Junstrom
one year gone :- (
RIP
Kick ass!!! I love watching these live shows just because of Donnie van zant dancing around. Love it going to see them in May
You'll probably miss it due to coronavirus, but I saw them with Kansas and if you have your choice of the two, get the Kansas tickets. Don is the only one left, and the guys in the band arent near what these guys were. Barnes puts on an OK show but just OK. They were great
Fantastic cover, glad they sped it up a bit to give it new energy. Also agree, Donnie brings a notable family name but little else.
Larry Junstrom was a monster.
Indeed. And,unfortunately, now he is gone and wil be missed.
Blistering ass cover of this CCR song!!🤘🏼🔥🔥🔥🔥
the best cover
love it reminds of the anti war movement in the late 60"s and 70"s. ROCK STEADY!!!
Right on!!!! Luv it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not a Anti-War song. The song is about the draft system in Vietnam That only poo boys goto war . And Rich boys just cry to their rich daddy's to pay a doctor to get them out .
Man they were tight...
Creedence seemed to the one band from the 60s that all the Southern rockers identified most with, even though they were from California. I'm reminded of the fact that Skynyrd played "Proud Mary" in their early daze.
Cause John studied and Honored Southern music.
Everyone wants to be southern rock!
Don Barnes’ vocals are insanely powerful!
Nice video except that's not Donnie van Zant on vocals and guitars. It's Don Barnes.
If you read the full information it is listing the band and their rolls with the band. This is not saying that Van Zant is the lead singer on this song. Right below it lists Don Barnes on Guitar and Lead vocal.
Love it
And with a vanzant brother too!!!!👍🔥
❤️
Cosi si suona il rock.....con questa intenzione..!! grande band.
.38 Special is awesome - and so is this cover. Incredible. Jeff Carlisi and Don Barnes = one of the best guitar duos in rock history. And Don the triple - threat. Whoa never heard this!
I like it y'all!
Them's the funkiest white girls,ever!
Damn good job!
a very nice southern rock band
Acredito que nessa fase, as vocalistas são Carol Bristow e Dale Krantz. Lu Moss entrou no 38 Special, no ano de 1981.
Awesome!!!
Jeff Carlisi playing lead guitar on the Gibson Explorer. Who's he channelling?
2018 bring southern rock back that speaks about God again.
Don Barnes is .38 Special. Carlisi is a killer guitar player. One of the most underrated bands ever. This is what happens when Lynyrd Skynyrd himself teaches your band how to play. See also: Molly Hatchet
The Jam sounds almost like the Jam in free-Bird?
Exactly what i thought. You can see/hear it even better on the recording in Germany 1981, here on YT
Have mercy!! 😁
Yes
NOT DONNIE VAN ZANT LEAD VOCALS,WAS DON BARNES LEAD VOCALS,LEAST FOR DAMN SAKE GET IT RIGHT!!!!
I think the listing was in general, not just this song
@@drewdixon5556 well the listing in general was not even right, donnie barley sang any songs,he mostly was back up.
the bass player along with the drumme rsnailed it
Get it Doug Huffman!!!
Awesome
SMOKIN!!
I like 38 Special, but nobody does this song better then CCR and John Forgerty
Sweet cover. So cool videos like these exist. You guys posting these ROCK.
Ninguna interpretación de los diferentes grupos o cantantes solistas de acercan a la versión original de Creedence Clearwater Revival por favor no sueñen
is Donny's guitar in the mix or just a a prop
U R AN ( )*( )
getting old is a bitch hay I did that!
Yeah I like It.
I still think Donnie Van Zant...using his dead brothers look, is redundant in this band. Don and Jeff carry all the weight. But damn....those white girls sound black! They can sing!
The who
Is it just Me...or is Donnie Van Zant pretty much a redundant member of this band?
you are right the first time ....it's just you!!!
+J Alan He's not on tour with them anymore.
J Alan, is your profile pic of an Akbash dog?
He's one of the founding members along with Don Barnes.
He seems to be just in the way of everything

Marissa brought me here
it is a shame what the mid/late '80's did to this band...
Because they weren't, or didn't, want to be in "it". That's why the brother of one of them from another famous rock band was "murdered" in a plane crash that run out of fuel with the whole band in it! That's why! They were for real...not for Satan. Do your research. That's why!
Well wasnt that exceptionally good.
Check out Kid Rock 99’ woodstock
This is Waysted grup song!
actually it is a CCR song ..
This would have sounded much better with it's slower original tempo..... CCR isn't speed rock.
Love this band, but this has zero point double zero added value, not even as a tribute. Thumbs down, and back to gems as Four Wheels.
Wow. Awesomeness!
