In this video we're going to review 2 of the best Live performances of "MR. CROWLEY Guitar Solo"
One performed by Zakk Wylde and another Performed by Randy Rhoads.
they are both greats guitarist of all time in the world of Heavy Metal.

I’ve always liked Zakks tone more but there wouldn’t be a Zakk without Randy. Zakk was hugely influenced by Randy and openly admits it. The fact that he honours Randy’s legacy by playing it the same is very respectful. He didn’t want to replace Randy, he wanted to honour his legacy. Not every day you get to step into your idols spot to fill the void and I think he was always humble about it. Much respect to Randy as he is my guitar hero and much respect to Zakk for paying tribute to him and remaining humble. Without Randy we wouldn’t have the Zakk we see.

Randy played more articulated, I can't tell if it's all about the tone, Zakk has so much more gain, and way more distortion. This could be a big factor

RR is legendary, he wrote it and many other incredible solos that guitar players are still trying to learn.

It's always going to be Randy, it seems like a ridiculous question! I knew he was my guitar teacher and neighbor, I was able to ask questions about the Blizzard Album, so I was lucky enough to ask questions about things with Randy when he came home to Burbank on breaks. Zakk loved Randy, and I talked with him when I used to live with him in Valencia CA. Back in 2005. Anyway, sorry about jumping on you, it just seems like a crazy question, but I guess one that could be an interesting question! But the answer is always Randy, even though Zakk does put his spin on things without ruining it!

They're all great. Each have their own styles. I like Jake Lee myself, i think hes the nost underrated between the three, but all are great.

I'm a HUGE Randy Rhoads fan.. he basically, IMHO, changed Hard Rock & 'Heavy Metal' forever. But, I really think Zakk holds his own here. I mean, Randy definitely wrote it, but Zakk stayed pretty true to it while making it his own. Kind of weird seeing Ozzy smack Zakk in the face or whatever during his solo at 1:40 ... pretty sure Zakk could have wiped the floor with him (before security came running in).
Not to take away from Zakk,but he is literally playing Randy’s song…..how can he do it better….?

When no rest for the wicked came out, I told my friend. Randy is not dead thats him right there, Zakk Wylde! He could play exactly like Randy!! Gave me chills when he played songs from the originals, you could tell he was playing from the heart and soul of Randy.

Zack is good but not to many guitarists who are speedsters are melodic that's why Randy was good , he had melody.
Randy. I usually give credence to the originator. Randy’s notes are more clear. Zakk is clear as well but he has a tendency to express his excitement and adds extra notes which makes the sound a little muddy.
Watch Ozzy in both sets of videos and there is your answer. He stares at Randy as if he has the best seat at the show.

Don't get me wrong Zakk is amazing and does a hell of a job playing the parts of Randy Rhodes but Randy Rhodes has much more finesse playing those lead runs.

You cant deny the original and this version seems toned down. Zakk has and always will do justice to who ever he's playing, Tony, Randy, or Jake. He definitely played his best in Moscow and Randy would have surely approved of his performance. I still remember when Blizzard came out and Randy was the top guitarist of that time. No one could touch his guitar wizardry. I had tickets for the Diary tour and sadly I missed my chance to see my idol due to a postponement of the concert due to bad weather. In that period they went to Florida and a guitar legend was tragically taken away too soon!!! 🎸 ✝️ RR

Live, they also sped it up back in the day. The vid of Ozzy shown here was more of a T.V. performance after getting right off of a flight. I saw Randy Feb 25, 1982 in Okc from the 10th row. U.F.O. was the opener. My first time seeing Zakk was in '88 on his first tour with Ozzy. Anthrax was on their State of Euphoria tour in Dallas.

Randy Rhoads created the solos and his sound. ZW merely copies it.
As a guitarist his technique is clear, clean, and articulate. He has so much feeling behind the music and solo. He was amazing player, only one IMHO that was better was Eddie. The thing about Randy is that he was classical trained and could read music and was a very good teacher. Eddie was not classical trained, but he was able to come up with his own style which was amazing. The only problem for Eddie was that he was a terrible teacher, even his son said so, and that is a big deal. So from my stand point he was was the best all arounder player of the time. Zakk, yeah....just never felt it, I prefer Jake E. Lee, he was amazing after Randy. No comparison for Zakk, good player but by no means the best.
how did Ed get into this but yes his son said he was a horrible teacher. Though Ed played piano when he was younger had some classical training.
Tony and Randy were the 2 most creative guitarists Ozzy ever played with, but Brad Gillis, Jake E Lee and Zakk Wilde are incredible players. The bottom line here is, if want to play with Ozzy, you better be good !!! Nuff said.

Randy's performance was more polished. It was the sign of the times. He didn't have a full decade of set precedence. He was setting the precedence.
Zach definitely added some improvements but Zach had the benefit of building on the original. Randy was the original.

I can't believe you even made this video. Didn't even give it a watch. Just want to leave you with this anecdote. As an older friend once told me when I said I didn't get all the hype over Clapton "You had to be there. Nobody played like him before and it blew everyone away. Now anybody has had the time to digest and learn his chops so yeah I can see why you would think that way. But you weren't there so you'll never truly understand".
Actually I believe the best version of this solo is the Original one on the record, which Randy has played. In this video I'm talking about live Performance and I believe Zakk played it live better here

I'm sorry to disappoint a lot of People here, but Jake E Lee was the Best of them all. Technically he played in a league of his own, somewhat like Jimi Hendrix. The Stage presence suited Ozzy like no other. I saw Jake E with Ozzy in 1983, they were magical.
I love all the Ozzy Guitarists and understand something about the Art of Music and have often asked myself who was the Best at Ozzy. Everyone has their own Charisma, but Jake E Lee is still a little ahead of everyone in the Metal Circus.

Let's say, Randy is the call on the field. Zakk would be the play review. There must be conclusive evidence to change the original penalty.
