    I think vert is extremely underrated. It's an entirely different skill set. I wish there was more focus on vert, but trends are trends and right now that's concrete skateparks that mimic street spots with a few bowls thrown in here and there. Gotta follow the money to stay relevant.

      I think for development of skating the different types/styles of skating are SO important. When all people that skate always do the same things, the only way to improve is going bigger and faster. The whole creative aspect gets forgotten...

    Vert skating sounds so fun, so I built a quarter pipe and put a piece of plywood at the bottom, my wheel caught, and the downward motion made me eat shit, it hurt like hell but I can’t wait to be able to roll away

    Dude I grew up skating this park. The only person I knew that skated that ramp back in the days was the homie Elliot Sloan. They forced pads and helmets and even made up pay to skate. Few things got moved around but it was chained up mostly. Grants tomb and riverbank are all in the loop. Nice vid! Takes me back.

    I'd take vert over street any day, way too many street / scooter parks popping up with zero bigger ramps being built.

    • @dennisthemenace5078
      @dennisthemenace5078 4 роки тому +2

      I'd also take vert over street as it's easier to find random ledges / benches than something resembling a vert ramp

    • @NeilHesterSkateboarding
      @NeilHesterSkateboarding 4 роки тому

      @@dennisthemenace5078 absolutely, street was always about "the streets" quite literally, as kids in the 80's we never had street skate parks, watch videos like Santa Cruz Speed Freaks or Powell Peralta's Ban This and Public Domain the whole world is a street skate spot you just have to use your eyes and imagination. unless you are lucky enough to have a 1960's/1970's backyard pool you need to have vert built for purpose which is money far better spent imho.

    I live in Memphis TN and I have 3 parks near me. the indoor one I go to most has a 13 ft vert ramp that Ive seen about 3 people in total ever skating. most people just like there 3 ft mini ramp, but they still don't take it out because there are some who do still like skating it with me included (tho I suck)

    In my town we only have very skaters. Not many skaters are nearby though. We have a lot of people with scooters who also onl6 do vert. As for me I don’t skate street. Perhaps the odd flat ground trick but I am new and have focused on building my way up to vert by dropping off of the blocks and soon the smaller ramps. I also go back and forth with the quarter pipes and end up about half way up.

    No offence to vert but if you had to choose just one: STREET > VERT

      @-boost- 5 років тому

      @@Souran123 Ok? He's a legendary skater. I was responding to John Hills question. The reason why you're getting so emotional is because vert is gradually becoming less popular than street over the years which is why more skateparks being made are moving towards street skating instead of vert.

    • @-boost-

      And I said "if I had to choose" obviously, as a skater I would enjoy both if being offered simultaneously when given the option

    Rip riverside. I'm a Blader who doesn't skate vert but I def appreciate a vert ramp and love to skate it whenever I'm at Woodward. I think it's cool to have the option, not everyone should skate curbs. I can see how the city would see it as a hazard since kids could hit their heads from 13ft trying to drop in. I dig your vids man, keep them coming

    I fell in love with vert skating a few years ago after years of not really skating. Vert made me get back into skating again! That street park looks amazing and I wouldn't complain about it. Why don't they just keep that already existing half pipe in the corner where it looks like there is going to be an area with trees in the top right side of that picture at 0:59?
