The biggest thing I've taken away from this series and the work done by Skinner is the true amount a preparation that has to be done before you can even think about putting welder to metal. Just like paint (which I'm sure is down the road) the quality of the final install is directly proportional to the amount of time prepping the work.
Mic, have been watching all the episodes. You couldn't be in better hands, Silverio is a Master. When I was a young engineer(40 years ago now retired) I was told " The difference between a good job and a great one is attention to detail".And your getting He is great. You are one lucky guy to have him work on your bus. Cant wait til it's done. Thanks, and stay safe and enjoy the ride.
been waiting for this ,.. KONA i really missed you...
😄👍🏼👍🏼
Kona is getting so close to be ready for paint! OMG crazyness that was interesting when he had to jack up the roof to make it fit perfect. stuff you never imagine.
Yeah I know!! I was like 😳🤯 haha
I know right, i would have cut it off at the bottom ;)
Really coming together now, looking good as far body, after that the real work begins with all the painting and sanding wiring and interior work lots of great videos coming up .
Silverio is just incredible! What a Master Craftsman!!!
Yeah so cool to watch him working on Kona!
@@MicBergsma By the way, I am a huge fan of yours....love the family support, love the way you keep it clean, and love watching this restoration of this bus! I get a little irritated when the videos don’t come as quickly as “I” think they should, but man, what a superb video when I finally get to watch. I’m home recuperating from total knee replacement, in the military, and don’t have much else to do.
Silverio is careful, clean, organized and pays attention to detail. Clearly loves what he does. It’s a rare thing these days.
Interesting what there is all. I never thought that you can glue body parts. I always thought that they would be welded. But nice to see how it goes on with the bus. I am looking forward to the painting. Especially the color he gets.
Another great episode, Mitch. Loved seeing you with your parents. And we especially love seeing Silverio, and (Claudio, too) at work. Mucho admiración a la raza para su mano de obra. And Robert....you da man!
You have a beautiful family you are blessed !
It looks to me, I think I seen all the video's for the Bus Restro; the people who perform the work
at this shop, I would have to say are at the top of the game. none better.. .
Very cool! That's a great project! My daughter and I are building a '69 bug, and seeing that rotisserie around the bus makes me wish I had something like that to flip the pan to work on it! haha! (but at least we're only 10 minutes away from Wolfsburg West, so we do have that!) Excited to see the next episode! :)
something about having right tools and metal working is so satisfying .... sense of accomplishment.
Well if I were doing a long panel that is exactly how I would do it but I would use the Pinch welder on the bottom lip. Some shops Like washburn use A huge pincher with a counter weight to weld in the long panel. Which works well too. Also he used TIg very hard to keep the metal clean. That panel will be really quiet. once the glue dries.
So funny that Mitch is excited enough to go to work in his pajamas, but then he has Silverio giving him breakfast too ! Most of us wish we were so excited to go to work all our lives.
Restoration progressing very nicely - but still so much to do ! Oh boy !!
Finally, a new video, it has been a long time to see the continuation of the restoration kona bus!!!
nice work again on the bus, mitch and silverio. at least you got some durty breakfast hahaha.
good to see there only using top glue off 3M.
untill the next episode mitch and stay safe.
grtz from belgium.
Another awesome video Mitch! Your videos are a testament to how long it takes and how extensive it is to restore our busses. Watching your videos motivates me to address some of my own unfinished projects on my 79 Campmobile.
Silverio might not smile much, but I can tell he enjoys his work. Looking great now, You must be pleased.
Yes very much 😄👍🏼
Hi I remember there was a description of a bomber plane in WW2 the Avro Shackleton. “30,000 Rivets flying in close formation”. I think the bus is 30,000 welds driving in close formation. Love the blue onesie by the way 😉.
Keep on going. Great work.
So much passion is going into making this vehicle great again. Love it!
wow nice restoration van.
and nice blue sun 👓
Enjoyed the show Mic on the details on what it takes to restore your bus or any bus for that matter. 👍
Thank you Steve!
I love watching this process, but I'd hate to see the bill
Thanks and haha yes not cheap restoration 😆
Yeah you must make lots more than I do. Lots of detail!
@@MicBergsma Hey! Please I need the constructive data of the decagonal "wheel" (10 sides) that you built as a tool to turn the vehicle (Wolkswagon bus) and have access to all sides to facilitate the repro work. What are the dimensions of the tubes, thickness, length of each section of the "wheel", etc., ???. Tanks from Brazil. Hugs to everyone in the garage.
What a nice episode!!
What a craftmanship you put into de bus!!!
After a period awaited , wonderful work carried, simply superb.
A great episode again Mitch - a nice balance of fine metalwork mixed with progress and family time. Keep on dubbin’ bro 🤙🏻
Silverados Shirts! xD This is awesome Mitch! can't wait for more!
Hahaha yeah, funny part is he doesn't have a daughter! Only two sons 😂 Thanks, looking forward to share next episode !
Came here for the bus build, fell in love with the channel and watched all the videos. Keep up the good work and living life. From the UK
I've been watching this build off and on for months always thought it was in a shop in Hawaii...Imazing how much time and detail is going into this.
Now I was remembering when you didn't know what to do with the restoration and I told you that it would be nice to let somebody else to make the work for you while you could be recordering all of the process. I guess that it was a good idea. You'll get the better job and you'll know while you are driving that marvellous VW Bus.
Nice panel install
Thnx Mic great filming&progress, greetings&blessings from Groningen Holland!

Great men
I love your videos, greetings from México
Lots of work looking good 👍
Yeah crazy hours of work, thanks man!
Can't get enough 👍
😄🤙🏼🤙🏼
What did you use to clean the metalwork with after doing the media blasting? I know you need to get the surface clean for painting but what do you use? Mineral spirits?
Yaay, another video...!!!
nice job bro..
Just curious as to why you cleaned the 3M adhesive up inside the sidewall. Wouldn’t the interior upholstery panels hide it? Or that is just the level of craftsmanship that this shop puts out the door? Perfect or do it again.
It was very cool vlog))) thx, hello from Russia.
Disculpa no sé cómo traducirlo e inglés..
Good keeping work on....👍❤️
Being rebuilt with a bit more detail than when built at the factory- with this much attention they would have built just a few per day! Enjoy watching the progress!
sensational work, I follow the videos from the first. the car will be show.
do you already know the color you will paint?
Ricardo from São Paulo - Brasil.
Bro you do great work but it’s taking long time since you started! 4 years 😨😨 please finish it as soon as possible
Ya quiero ver el siguiente video!
Super
Aaaaah how long do we have to wait for the new episode again... Mitch wen is your wife coming to visit you??
That's some strong glue!
Love you guys
❤️🤗
Great work Bro!
Thank you Andrea!
Quase pronto 👍🏽😊 legal 👌👍 arrumar 🚐🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🗜️🗜️🗜️
I must admit their pretty meticulous in their work which is the only way to do it, it will better than when they first built the bus with all the rust protection applied to all the work. And top products. In Canada for instance after paying tax you'll spend three hundred bucks just for the panel adhesive. I've used it now and then its incredible product, Great Job! Now folks can appreciate why some of these buses if done correctly with the proper paper work to back it up! cost a lot of mulla.
Silverio is the man 🤟
Супер ЛаЙк 👏👍👍👍
Está com e vai ficar top... funileiro caprichoso
Thought you would have two or three videos of the Kona by now. I wondered what happened to you.
super
hows the engine doing? 😊👍🏼
