What a beautiful job you all did,😂your parents place is a dream 💖,wish you all the best, 💞I'm praying for you 🙏 that you don't have anymore rust problems, have fun God bless 🙏
I think your flywheel teeth are chewed up, that could be the noise when it starting...look at 14:52
“Dad is very OCD”, as Mic buffs the bus quarter panel for the umpteenth time. 😂❤
Mitch and Lori, what an amazing journey and an amazing episode.
I’ve followed Kona’s build since Ep 1 and have shared your excitement, disappointments and frustrations during building this amazing bus.
Well done to you both and I can’t wait to see what happens on the next episode of Kona in Hawaii.
Definitely one of the most amazing and heartfelt VW builds I’ve ever seen.
41:16 Your rear brakes are installed upside down. You brake cylinder must be at the top so that the bleeder is at the highest point.
Mic gotta say even though you got the run around, you had excellent help with the interior, the finishing touches you and Lori with help from dad, mom and others put together as Dave Kindig would say One Bitchin’ Ride. Kona turned out super sweet and when I saw the two of you having a hard time saying goodbye at the Port of Seattle for her trip to Hawaii I thought “ I don’t blame you “ the blood , the sweat and the tears putting her back together I wouldn’t want to say goodbye either.
How did you end up so much cooler than your brothers? I mean, those Mustangs are super clean and I’m sure very cool in the Mustang world but come on, KONA! Are you kidding me? off the chart cool 😎
Wows, bro! FRIKKIN BEAUTIFUL CLEAN RESTORATION! And i love your SOUL! rock on, crazy diamond! Thanks especially for teaching your (wonderful) english w the subs!
Aww Kona is gonna travel alone without you Ha!.. You have a beautiful family.. Enjoy a new journey with Kona when land at Maui Hawaii!!
Mich is the most animated and nicest guy on the internet ❤
Why not put your Hockey cards and stuff in Kona to get it all home instead of having Mom ship it later?
Wow, #Konathebus looks so amazing all decked out. I even got emotional watching it get dropped off and saying goodbye to your parents. Can't wait to see the video of yall driving Kona around Hawaii!!! Congratulations from Texas!!
Boy! That breaks my heart when you say goodbye to your family at the airport!!! I hope Kona will be okay without any problems to Hawaii. I was at Hawaii three times. Love it! Looking forward to the next Episode. God blessed you and your beautiful family.
Fantastic video again, last jears i watch them al
The bus is chanced from rustbucket into an incredible piece of art!!!
I noticed you have a trailer hitch on Kona, it would be cool to find another bus and make it into a custom camper
I could feel the heaviness leaving Kona at the Port. Even heavier leaving Mom and Dad. Looking forward to seeing Kona in Hawaii and new adventures with it. Well done!!! My dream is to some day own a split window bus. You are an inspiration Lori and Mic. Much love
The most beautiful story I have ever seen here on UA-cam.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he arrives safely...!
Greetings from Germany...
Hope you built a garage for kona
What happens when you get kona to Hawaii and have to deal with the salt spray and salt in the air, and volcanic ash, all toxic substances in Hawaii. Ive heard cars rust out there more than anywhere.
Daddy is millioner!!!! Must spend somewhere....Godine law!!!!
Mitch, you should get cochlear implant on your ears,I have on one my left ear and it was fantastic, I was completely deaf for 3 years, I had wore hearing aid until I was 43 years old
That’s kind of thing you shouldn’t say this to deaf people who been deaf since birth.
that’s right, shouldn’t pushing them to get CI and let them decide. Me… I refused because I have reasons against CI. Friends told me good luck and no chance enter MRI.
Well after 80 episodes to restore and get running. Plus one more to get her shipped. It has been an adventure. Enjoy the VW bus to the fullest. Bring on 82
The cat will miss you.
Oh…what a wonderful, sweet journey it’s been; full of excitement, joy, happiness, stress, sadness, love, adventure, & fun. This is bittersweet here. I’m both happy and sad beautiful Lady Kona will be going home with you guys, &, I’m not the only one who would like to see continuation videos of you all over in Hawaii, and the continuing adventures of fabulous Lady Kona! I’m crying here, & it feels as if I’m saying goodbye to old friends. All my love & good wishes to you all. Please keep up the continuing adventures of Kona!! Much love
What a Journey! I feel blessed to have watched from the beginning. I couldn't wait for each video to come out. It is bitter sweet to see the restoration come to an end but I am so happy for you both. I can only imagine how much fun the two of you have had with Kona these last 2 years. Kona is a beauty.
Buy another bus Mick! I'm gonna miss my Kona fix!
I say he restore a VW Thing
So cool. This has been such a joy to watch. Plus I miss the Northwest. I lived in and around Seattle for 15 years. Can't wait for ep 82
you need a new flywheel , match starter gear to flywheel ,and you need a smaller belt on fan ,you must use 7 washers spacer on fan and generator .
Hello there. 🙂 I have been watching perhaps close to 70 of your kona episodes, plan to watch them all. Excellent details, excellent videos, and the bus turned out great. Congratulations. I have kept quiet, not been saying much if anything. Wanted to visit in Vacaville while you were there, but never did that (I live in Santa Rosa) and my wife likes Hobby Lobby in Vacaville.
Now, you had an issue in the last episode, the starter motor. It is a reason for why it happened, and I am sorry to say, I think it will happen again. A bendix gear does not get chewed up like that in just a few starts without a serious reason. I am not sure what it is, but I noticed something, it is just when you turn the camera towards the flywheel. Is the ring gear mounted the wrong way ? Because all the ring gears I have seen has more rounded teeth on the starter motor side where the bendix gear engage. To make a more smooth entrance. Or, does your ring gear not have a rounded side, if that is the case, I would say it is a fault in the production, or a very poor design.
I hope I am not offending you in my comment about the starter motor, that was not my intention.
Bill
Are you sure the rear brake is OK?
The bleeder valve is at the bottom. But since air rises up, it is not possible to bleed it properly
Andreas
at the time of up-lifting, silencer end touched the ground. Take Care
81 video's later.....wow wat a journey you guys had....Kona is beautifull.......
lots of greetz from Belgium 👋☺
Hard to catch the progression....when you are doing paint and finish...Are the brakes ok? Does the engine start? And not least the cogwheel on the other side..
You got Kona running flawlessly , at least you didn’t have to take your friends and family out for a push 😂
Hi Guys, follow you from the beginnin.
Looks awesome and respect for the result.
Greetz from the netherlands Issy Adjis
Also a splitbus owner.
Ps. Keep on going 👌🏽
Yes you spent 16 month and it did take your time. But the bus you will have forever. Never have to buy a vehicle again. It’s worth the pain.
your vw has turned out to be very beautiful and looks like it will fit in in Hawaii . good luck with shipping etc.
Wow, you pair are the luckiest ever, Kona looks fantastic!! The blue is awesome, such a shame you had to finish it off yourselves after been given a half finished piece back! I was emotional for you too when you left your dad, treasure that hug forever! Love to you both x
i'm french !! i mean is the best WV bus never see and you finish it so perfectly no existe and other like this in the world and i'm serious! bravo
Fantastic job migs and lori, i been watching your videos since day 1 (episode 1) and its very inspiring project, ive learned a lot watching your videos. Good luck to both of you and regards to your family, watching every minutes your vifeos from Muntinglupa City, Philippines, thanks

Very beautiful! I've watched all the episodes so far, congratulations!
Amazing to see this chapter of your lives coming to an end. I first started watching your videos when we were in vacation at the beach in 2019(?) and here we are about to go again this week, lol!! Kona is gorgeous, y’all did a great job… now it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor!
Enjoy ur journey from now and in future loved watching e rry minute of the bus journey yous have both been on wish yous both the best and for the future to come.
Doesn’t better take some cover on Kona when you want to move somewhere far with trailer?
Insanely for good this project had a lot of jobs done, congratulations for your gorgeous VW bus.
@1:04:00 to 1:04:05 hitch scratched the cement.
In the 1980s my FAA boss sent me with an interpreter to visit Seattle International Airport radar tower control.
It was amazed seeing beautiful snow cover the mountains around from the distance.
America did a lot of jobs done, building new international airports.
Hope you enjoy riding the Kona bus.
Surprise that you didn't get grey hair after all this
Папа у тебя молодец гараж у него классный везде такая чистота и природа у вас классная берегите своих родителей😊😊😊
Good time friend, thank you very much for sharing your videos.
You guys did an amazing job on Kona!! Your vision has come to life.
Wow, can't believe you got Kona on transport to home. Looks so good.
Family is everything!! Your family is amazing. the love and support is definitely very special. It must have been difficult to not only say goodbye to them, but to give up control over Kona for the shipping process. I'm looking forward to seeing video of her cruising the Maui roads.
I like the two V.W.,s (Kona and the singlecab) standing together!
He never gives up. I believe that all 81 episodes so far are references for anyone who wants to restore Volkswagen buses.
Good luck

Well, the Kona project is coming to an end in about a month it looks like. I wish you both all the best life has to offer you. It has been a real joy watching you build that beautiful little bus. Lotsa Love ❤ 🫶🏻🤟🏻
Congratulations you both have so hard work. Kona will be fine for delivery to your home in Hawaii. Be positive :)
Obviously this is two years old, but there was definitely some smoke that rose from what seemed to be behind the shroud! Hope she’s still okay!
Chorei junto com você , meu amigo! 🇧🇷❤️🇺🇲🤠👍🏻🌹
This has been an amazing journey. Thank you for taking us all along
Made my day to see the new episode!
Your parents place looks like a Dutch farm.
Enjoyed the whole series, and like the VW of that time, it was at times ugly but it got you there. One last Kona video in the series to go, Mic..
Yay!! Your bus looks so beautiful! Go Edmonton Oilers Go for tomorrow!!
I am so happy for you that you have successfully completed the KONA renovation project Excellent, with hard and tremendous work, as I have been following you since the first episode until now

Happy that Kona is finished congrats
Mitch, during all the videos I saw you and Lori nurturing the rebirth of Kona. It was a wonderful journey (didn't end yet) watching all the effort to make it happen and to look really nice. I want to congratulate you and Lori to the attention to details from the very beginning to say good-bye to Kona at the shipyard. Soon you will be home and enjoy the drive...with Kona.
Hey, it's been two months, are you going to finish this series??
When is episode 82??
we, I am hppy to be with you Mitch
!
Next time use an old break pad to push back the pistons. That way you are using even pressure.
Next time you tighten the Alternator Belt Pulley do it while it is rotaing so that the belt will center itself and NOT be bound up off center....!
expert?lol
you have 2 split the poelie
Have a safe trip, you two!
🤙🌺✨
you need some shims on that starter.
So... apparently in USA anyone can build his own vehicle and drive it without any plate on it and official technical inspection, in case of an accident what's going on then?
Insurance companies are accepting such kind of irresponsible behaviour? Unbelievable...
What the hell are you talking about? The bus has been restored and is registered in Hawaii. Before rego you can drive them on a temporary permit to ready for registration. 🤦♂️
@@DemopVWgarage Yeah, I am originally from Norway and over in Europe it is a lot more strict, can't do this' can't do that. Plates must be on, or hide the motor vehicle. Not like here, I even drove myself in my own car to the DMV to take the driving test for the drivers license. Would have had my head cut off if it was in Norway.
Beautifull Job God bless you
AHHHHH!!!!! I WANT TO SEE IT IN HAWAII!!!!!!!
I hate that this series is winding down, but so good to see it so close to being done at the same time. I was stressed watching you load it up and drop it off. Holy cow.
Job well done
Lori looks so darn cute in Kona
félicitations a toi pour tout les travaux de restorations amitiés a vous deux et bonne route et profite en bien un fidéle de vos vidéos de France
Be safe n Happy 🎉😊
So happy for the both of you and Kona

Whoo what a ride. Can't wait u driving around in Hawaii your dreams 👍👍
You need fun no more works. I'm stressed watch your work on VW Project
Hello MicBergsma, have you Next new Videos for Kona?
I'm working on it! Still filming some things ..
Wow! What a journey! I bet you thought this day would never happen. You and Lori should very proud, lots of hours and lots of hard work
best video yet imho
yeh guys great job, looks the best, now I know why you were asking about the roof rack height ;) Cant wait to see it in person one day .
When I finished my Westfalia restoration I got sad and depressed because I really really enjoyed the restoration. So I bought a 68 Double cab, let's just put it this way, it needs a lot of work and I am very happy :-)
Bad new starter. I've gotten those before.
