Her and Elliott Smith are my favorite singer songwriters, Fiona has so much anger in her music (a good thing coming from me) amd Elliott has a calming sad type of sound
This is simply beautiful... Fiona is so emotionally sensitive in her vocals, whether she needs to express acidic anger or soothing, healing love. I love her connection to the woman next to her, and the music is holding them in that special space even with the little interruptions. So beautiful.
i’m here on my 16th birthday because this is one of my favorite videos ever, so much comfort i get from her and her music. Thank you fiona apple for speaking to me in a way no one else could.
So much love between Fiona and the woman she was sitting with (her mom? aunt? grandma?). It was so sweet to see how they held hands, looked at each other and embraced at the end :) Also, I am consistently amazed how "in the zone" Fiona is every time she sings. It's like she's in her own beautiful world. I can't think of another artist that seems to be as emotionally invested in everything they sing.
Not here to judge, we all have shit going on in our lives. What matters is the music, and my god is Fiona's voice incredible. She's a grown woman, let her take care of herself and just enjoy this once in a generation talent.
I love this and I love Fiona. She's obviously going through something....but she's always been like that. She's always been dark and I love her for it. You're perfect Fiona, don't listen to the haters. You are so talented and special and I've followed you for almost 20 years.
I've been following her since she came out. I was 14. She's been with me through so much. If she held my hand and sang to me I'd probably die 😂 I feel like her music understands me to such depth that no one else does. And I bet she'd be so cool to just hang out with
please dont be upset with people concerned with her weight. shes struggled with eating disorders before (she said this herself) and people who have already been through it often relapse. much love to fiona and this amazing song, hope she was and is well 💜
She DID NOT say that she had an "eating disorder" and/or "anorexia" as primary diagnoses. You got your feeble-minded, glutenized "facts" from some fiction cooked up in your insignificant, disordered little mind. Fiona suffers from conditions of situational depression, generalized anxiety disorder (inc anxiety/panic attacks), & situational PTSD stemming from trauma as a child (which NO ONE on this or in ANY other public forum/social media BS site - anonymously or in any other fashion - should attempt to reference, as you have no fucking clue as to the myriad of ACTUAL facts & HER truths of HER PERSONAL LIFE - positive or negative - from birth to present, 1/31/24. So leave this great human being & brilliant vocalist, songwriter, & musician the fuck alone. Deal w/ your own, comparatively insignificant, life...
Who cares what she looks like people! She sings like a goddess. Her lyrics are poignant. This is such a beautiful performance and I for one think she's one of the most beautiful creatures in existence.
I love this so much. Rather than a huge multi-million dollar production, this video was recorded in someone's living room, unedited, the same as any "average" person would do. Except Fiona is light years past average. I'd love to say that she understands me, and only me, and I understand her more than anyone; but I can see that there are thousands of people who feel the same. Her music speaks to the souls of so many people. That is a beautiful thing. Blake Mills brings out a different side of her, and they compliment each other very nicely. This is such a wonderful experience (it's not just a video, or just a song... It is a full experience) As far as Fiona's health and image, obviously anyone who has been touched by her music wants her to be healthy enough to continue making music and giving us who love her a voice. That being said... Leave her alone! How is shaming her appearance supposed to help in any way? It's all speculation and if she were ever to see the things that people write about her in comments and blogs and whatnot, she would be devastated. She is a sensitive being, like us fans who love her for her music and her as a whole. She doesn't make music and videos and do live performances for us to judge her and speculate about her health and personal life. I'm sure she has people in her life who care for her and know her better than any of us do. So give the girl a break and enjoy her music as she pours her soul out to all of us who will listen. Enjoy her music and worry about your own health.
The people who comment about her health, at least me personally, do not want to see her die. Let's face it, she looks like she's knocking on death's door. Looking at her sing that song in such a famished, malnourished condition...you just wanna give her a hug. It's truly heartbreaking.
I’m 15 as of now and I’m just starting to get into Fiona Apple, I absolutely adore her music. I’ve such a deep respect for her, one of my favorite songs is shadowboxer right now :)
this just made me cry... and I really don't cry easily... Fiona just has the ability to do that with the unbelievable sentiment she brings to her music. I just loved the last show I was able to attend in October. It was extremely powerful. Love.
this is so pure... especially at the end after she sings, ''don't need to say it'' & her mother said, ''I know...'' please stop focusing on her ''wrongs'' because she *does* know... all too well how she's a product of those-deemed & her own inflictions. she's fighting for love ''all the time... give it time...''
this makes me cry. the guitar ... Fiona, the sweetest most genuine soul, and we get to hear it sung out ... the hands held ... the glowing room ... sharing it with us. thank you for the music
So lucky she's an artist of my generation and I'm here to witness and appreciate her talent and fascinating voice - You're magic Fiona! Beautiful as always♥♥♥
I remember downloading Get Gone dare I say it for free off of Napster before it went commercial way back before UA-cam etc was huge. After I heard that track I had to source all of the CD's I could find of her because the likes of iTunes etc wasn't even on the go. I'm from Scotland and, unfortunately Fiona isn't as widely known as I feel she should be in this Country which is a real shame. I remember ordering Extraordinary Machine which is a CD on one side and a DVD on the other which had some poor quality clips of her singing live at Club Largo. After seeing her perform live for the first time I can freely admit to crying my eyes out both because; I think she's beautiful and putting a moving picture to the voice (bear in mind internet speeds have never been to the same standard as America so getting footage like this was a real privilege). I truly hope and wish that Fiona will come to Scotland one day or if I can get the opportunity to go to America just to see her perform. I have nothing but adoration, respect and thanks to Fiona Apple for sharing her one of a kind talent for music writing a captivating voice. Nowadays we are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding videos of supreme talent and sometimes seeing raw footage of people perform out of the spotlight (off of stage) is all the better for those of us that appreciate Fiona Apple's talent. I found Fiona Apple purely by accident years ago and I don't think I've ever been so in Awe of somebody's voice since. Thank you Fiona and Please Come To Scotland, all supposing you even read this lol.
Fiona, I kneel down and praise your talent. It is so beautiful, you with this nice lady on that sofa, with that awfully talented guitarist! No glamour about it, just soul, soul, soul...
I read some of the comments, haven't any of you seen the 'Criminal' video? She probably weighs the same? Anyway, she's more beautiful and talented than ever. I love this song! So happy someone posted this!
Unique & amazing. True artists and professionals create within and through distracting conditions because their focus has been honed to sterling sharpness and Fiona is a musical silversmith.
Did anyone realize the interruptions were in sync with the lyrics. Like I will do my thing in the background, and then noise. And then by the backstage door and someone opened the door
This has become my favorite Fiona song especially cuz of her live performances she always sings it acoustic and not like the album version. It’s so stripped down and emotional just like how she must’ve felt writing it.
i just want a friend who listens to fiona apple and shares my love for her ...
Me.
Here!
SAME
Me tooooooooo hiiiiii🙋
It is I!
The original is angry and frustrated and heartbroken but this rendition is so... gentle and patient.
There’s an authenticity to Fiona that’s rare.
One of the best singer songwriters of our times
definitely
So true
done. truth. yes.
Her and Elliott Smith are my favorite singer songwriters, Fiona has so much anger in her music (a good thing coming from me) amd Elliott has a calming sad type of sound
my god, blake mills is just slaying the accompaniment
i want to learn this so bad but I cant get it by ear
Try again in 10 years.
This is simply beautiful... Fiona is so emotionally sensitive in her vocals, whether she needs to express acidic anger or soothing, healing love. I love her connection to the woman next to her, and the music is holding them in that special space even with the little interruptions. So beautiful.
“Acidic anger” I love that
i’m here on my 16th birthday because this is one of my favorite videos ever, so much comfort i get from her and her music. Thank you fiona apple for speaking to me in a way no one else could.
oh my goodness. i was your age listening to this song. years and years ago.. wow. what a warmth.
omg same 16th birthday and all
i hope you're okay now, valentina
i literally bursted into tears when the old lady sang too, idek why it just made me so emotional :(
perfect as always!
Whoi is the lovely sitting next
To Fiona
cool! calling her old would make her so emotional as well
same
You know one day you’ll be the old lady
So much love between Fiona and the woman she was sitting with (her mom? aunt? grandma?). It was so sweet to see how they held hands, looked at each other and embraced at the end :)

So odd, because I get the impression that they've just met, but have made this instant, sweetly sad bond.
Except while she was giggling with the interrupting background noise :)
What a voice! That vibrato she does, sounds like the classic jazz singers. Also great guitar playing on this.
She does a great version of 'After You've Gone'. It's somewhere here on UA-cam, but maybe you've come across it already...
The guitar arrangement is pretty amazing. Fiona is perfect as always.
Blake Mills is a high level guitarist, for sure.
Not here to judge, we all have shit going on in our lives. What matters is the music, and my god is Fiona's voice incredible. She's a grown woman, let her take care of herself and just enjoy this once in a generation talent.
Fiona singing in my living room is on my bucket list.
That arrangement. My god, how I wish there would be a studio version of this
Fiona is ALWAYS BEAUTIFUL.... Her soul is what i fell in love with .. Wish i could look into her eyes just once
That's very sweet.
I love this and I love Fiona. She's obviously going through something....but she's always been like that. She's always been dark and I love her for it. You're perfect Fiona, don't listen to the haters. You are so talented and special and I've followed you for almost 20 years.
If Fiona holds my hand and sings to my face I would explode.
I've been following her since she came out. I was 14. She's been with me through so much. If she held my hand and sang to me I'd probably die 😂 I feel like her music understands me to such depth that no one else does. And I bet she'd be so cool to just hang out with

this is so beautiful i cried a little
I CRIED BACK IN 2005 when she played at The Roseland! 💝 And, even now, no other artist has come close!
I TRANSCRIBED the whole guitar part in Tabs + Chords + Sheet Music + Lyrics :D
It's on my website now :)
Mate, you make wonderfully thorough transcriptions of really interesting music. Thank you!
@@MrJMooreable Thank you so much :D
I can't even express my gratitude for Fiona and her music she's just so rare
Raw and unfiltered talent
Unbelievable
Bless you dear hearted lady. Hope you read these comments and know how much you mean to us Fiona.
Who cares what she looks like people! She sings like a goddess. Her lyrics are poignant. This is such a beautiful performance and I for one think she's one of the most beautiful creatures in existence.
I care. She's obviously very unhealthy. Do you care?

I would be a perfect world where she knew the joy she brought to people with her voice.
I was distracted by the old rotary phone in the background! LOL!

Blake Mills is heavenly on guitar, too.
Truly one of my favorite videos on UA-cam right now. Love Fiona, love this song, love the accompaniment, love the silly moments. Just perfect.
I’m into punk rock and hardcore, but Fiona ranks up there with the bands I love. Fiona is fucking awesome.
💙
This is one of the most beautiful things i've ever watched here, but then again, it's Fiona, so it was bound to be...
I remember downloading Get Gone dare I say it for free off of Napster before it went commercial way back before UA-cam etc was huge.
