This is simply beautiful... Fiona is so emotionally sensitive in her vocals, whether she needs to express acidic anger or soothing, healing love. I love her connection to the woman next to her, and the music is holding them in that special space even with the little interruptions. So beautiful.

So much love between Fiona and the woman she was sitting with (her mom? aunt? grandma?). It was so sweet to see how they held hands, looked at each other and embraced at the end :)
Also, I am consistently amazed how "in the zone" Fiona is every time she sings. It's like she's in her own beautiful world. I can't think of another artist that seems to be as emotionally invested in everything they sing.
So odd, because I get the impression that they've just met, but have made this instant, sweetly sad bond.

Not here to judge, we all have shit going on in our lives. What matters is the music, and my god is Fiona's voice incredible. She's a grown woman, let her take care of herself and just enjoy this once in a generation talent.

Who cares what she looks like people! She sings like a goddess. Her lyrics are poignant. This is such a beautiful performance and I for one think she's one of the most beautiful creatures in existence.

I love this so much. Rather than a huge multi-million dollar production, this video was recorded in someone's living room, unedited, the same as any "average" person would do. Except Fiona is light years past average. I'd love to say that she understands me, and only me, and I understand her more than anyone; but I can see that there are thousands of people who feel the same. Her music speaks to the souls of so many people. That is a beautiful thing. Blake Mills brings out a different side of her, and they compliment each other very nicely. This is such a wonderful experience (it's not just a video, or just a song... It is a full experience)
As far as Fiona's health and image, obviously anyone who has been touched by her music wants her to be healthy enough to continue making music and giving us who love her a voice. That being said... Leave her alone! How is shaming her appearance supposed to help in any way? It's all speculation and if she were ever to see the things that people write about her in comments and blogs and whatnot, she would be devastated. She is a sensitive being, like us fans who love her for her music and her as a whole. She doesn't make music and videos and do live performances for us to judge her and speculate about her health and personal life. I'm sure she has people in her life who care for her and know her better than any of us do. So give the girl a break and enjoy her music as she pours her soul out to all of us who will listen. Enjoy her music and worry about your own health.
The people who comment about her health, at least me personally, do not want to see her die. Let's face it, she looks like she's knocking on death's door. Looking at her sing that song in such a famished, malnourished condition...you just wanna give her a hug. It's truly heartbreaking.
this just made me cry... and I really don't cry easily... Fiona just has the ability to do that with the unbelievable sentiment she brings to her music. I just loved the last show I was able to attend in October. It was extremely powerful. Love.

I remember downloading Get Gone dare I say it for free off of Napster before it went commercial way back before UA-cam etc was huge. After I heard that track I had to source all of the CD's I could find of her because the likes of iTunes etc wasn't even on the go. I'm from Scotland and, unfortunately Fiona isn't as widely known as I feel she should be in this Country which is a real shame. I remember ordering Extraordinary Machine which is a CD on one side and a DVD on the other which had some poor quality clips of her singing live at Club Largo. After seeing her perform live for the first time I can freely admit to crying my eyes out both because; I think she's beautiful and putting a moving picture to the voice (bear in mind internet speeds have never been to the same standard as America so getting footage like this was a real privilege). I truly hope and wish that Fiona will come to Scotland one day or if I can get the opportunity to go to America just to see her perform. I have nothing but adoration, respect and thanks to Fiona Apple for sharing her one of a kind talent for music writing a captivating voice.
Nowadays we are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding videos of supreme talent and sometimes seeing raw footage of people perform out of the spotlight (off of stage) is all the better for those of us that appreciate Fiona Apple's talent. I found Fiona Apple purely by accident years ago and I don't think I've ever been so in Awe of somebody's voice since. excuse me for people who are saying oh maybe she's that skinny. No. she's not that skinny because she wasn't even that skinny in the Criminal Video when she was 18 or 19. I think most of the people who are pointing out her weight are not doing it because they are judging her or being vain or critical or superficial. If they are true Fiona fans, its genuine concern. If I saw my sister walking around the house and she seemed to me to be unhealthy I wouldn't think, 'oh it's her life, let me leave her alone' I would say something. I actually could not finish watching this video because of how hurt I am seeing her like this, I even cried a little bit. I just wish her all the best and I hope she is back to her healthy self very soon because a world without Fiona would be that much less wonderful.
Dear MayI know that your comment was over five years ago. I am a gigantic Fiona Apple fan. I have been listening to her since 1996 .I 2 cried a little bit and felt so much compassion for her she is shrinking away or was. I know she's a very private person and I'm wondering if she's suffering from anorexia or bulimia. It doesn't matter though I will always be one of her biggest fans. And I hope she's doing better. And I think that I seen a video of her recently and she looks much more healthier and got the weight back on. She hit the scene as this waif with model good looks, who just happened to be incredibly talented. Well, now we've got her, not pretty, not glamorous, not ideal. Not commercial but more amazing than ever. I applaud that she keeps it real. But let's keep the 'real', shall we? There are children in United Way commercials who look healthier than this. They are starving to death, diseases eating away at them. Nobody says 'leave them alone, they're beautiful', because they are in dire need of medical attention. Fiona Apple is clearly engaged in some kind of self-destructive behavior. I can't imagine no one in her family or circle of friends hasn't staged some kind of intervention. But ultimately, she's an adult and no one can make her improve her health. She has to want it.
How could you possibly tell her family or friends haven't staged any interventions what-so-ever, from this video...?
She reminds me of my mom where if there's any sort of stress in her life she loses weight. It could simply be that Fiona's been dealing with stress. So it may be self-destruction or her body not dealing with external and internal stressors healthily.

I read somewhere that after she was raped, she was afraid of ever being hit on by guys and being that naturally she's quite a "curvy" girl she didn't want anyone to find her attractive. She lost weight in order for guys to not have anything to grab hold of...really really sad, but I think she's just a troubled lady. A very talented troubled lady. God bless her
