My future wife and I saw these guys in 1977. This was our wedding song. 44 years later, she’s still the Chick of My Dreams and we’re still moving and grooving slo beat style. My grandkids say, Papa and Memaw knew how to get down! We’re both 70 plus , still in love
Bless You Guys, You Found The RIGHT One!!!
❤ I love it
True Love is The Best Thing Going Today. Salute!!!
Ggh
Ralph...Met my soul mate in '75, finally married her in '83 and we are still together in '21...We've seen AWB a few times together and this song describes how we found a Love of our own and have been blessed by it...Stay up Friend!!!
The dislikes for this beautiful song have to be from people who never found a love of their own, so sad.
Or, don't want to wait until their own is ready to be found!
LOL
Haven't yet and still liked it
And!!!!! Some are not destined to find love at all.
Power to satan!!!! Bring your wrath and destruction on all mankind.
A
These guys, Tower Of Power, Hall Oats, Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Doobie Brothers just some of the greatest bands of my time. Real musicians. Still sound so good.
...and they just all happened to be white bands
And I'm guessing that Emilio Castillo even changed his name to make it seem like he was Oakland material.
I would not leave Incognito out of a list like this.
In those days, the standard (expectation) was very high for bands and the product they put out. You would be hard-pressed to name a band that wasn't great...regardless of the genre.
Movie American made
That saxophonist is playing the heck out of that sax! True talent!
Sadly, he is not with us now!😢
@@barrymccormick3911 I did not know. Do you know his name. I would like to see if there are more videos displaying his talent.
The sax!
This song!
The lyrics!
This song will never get old!!!
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 beautiful song 🎵
The sax player daaam just blew me away wow this plays every night at my house unsung my ass these boys were good musicians and all that in awe of the sax player all day long
Yep dam you feeling it too Chile chile
Tudo perfeito! All perfect!
Yep
Baddest white boys to do it!!! Even back then, when soul was at it's peak, they were right up there with the brothas!!! LOVE this song!!!
Take notes you young artists! Notice how they sound EXACTLY like they do on the album when they're on stage? No vocal processors, effects, etc. Just pure, raw TALENT!!!!
I couldn't agree with you more. Another great band, Tower of Power. 😎
Preach bro!
My guys😘🤗🥰
Man these guys did it. When I was young I didn’t realize they were white boys with soul.
Dia Akin this one is timeless
This song NEVER gets old.
Good music never does!
♥️
@@b.c.4854 why am I crying?? cause it was a great ride I don't want it to be over yet
Bad R,B White Bad out at that time with one Brother, they was straight

AWB is one of the greatest bands ever!! I've been listening to them since 1973.
This has got to be one of the best love songs ever recorded. These dudes killed it !!!
Could it get any better ?
Agreed ....
The intro ....
Flawless....
Yes indeed and one of my favorites by them

These talented gentlemen are so soulful. There is nothing average about them. Such a beautiful love song.

Precious Baby Doll facts!
The Greatest White Soul Band this World has ever known, and are ever likely to know?. And that is fact?..True Musicians in every sense of the word.xx.Pure Class.
Malcolm "Molly" Duncan 🎷
(24 August 1945 - 8 October 2019) was a Scottish tenor saxophonist and founding member of Average White Band.
Rest in peace 😢
He played d fuck out dat Sax!!!
@@jimangler984 yess he did!!I actually kept replaying his set.
5:36 This is pure unadulterated soul. That saxophone is simply beyond description. One of the best saxophonist I’ve ever heard. The harmony is spectacular. I can listen to this forever. This song is off the love charts.
I bet they call it pop today
100% agree, can listen to this for hours and would not get bored of this song or this performance
They don't make jams like this anymore!
For real Bro
No they don't
Check out Young Gun Silver Fox.
I agree now a bunch of rap crap
Silk sonic
That solo was outrageous, just blew my mind dude owned that solo
HomeRun Knocked It Out The Park
the most underrated band of the 70s am 63 and so glad i had music like this the real deal
Me, too, Paul.
I was so fortunate to have really cool parents who listened to the best music. I remember my mom dancing around our pool to this. God, I miss her. She's dancing in heaven now. 😔
Seen them at the Glasgow concert hall at the end of November still brilliant
There's Nothing Underrated About Average White Band!
All I can do is agree
Makes me think back to cold winter nights 77 as 19 yr old airman thinking of my girlfriend so far away. She later became my wife ending with us a parting 26 years later due to her passing.
I feel you ! Me a young army private on the border in west Germany 🇩🇪. Missing my girl back across the pond.
What a time in our lives.
OGEE 58
I was 16 yrs old when I listen to this band in the yearly 70's this song never dies, matter of fact it sounds better than before, the sax playing is just awesome, thank you so much for keeping this song alive. AWB still solid and awesome.👑🤙still one of my favorite bands of all time. God bless you brother's.
So was I. I bought the Soul Searchin album.
This is THE best version of this song I've heard to date. That bass guitar and sax are bangin' it out!
these was some baddazz white boyz !!!
For sure. I Love their midic.
Music
Here, Here!!!!
Nah they just an average white band ha
Awesome song. It takes me back when music was music!
hell yea hell yea, big fun in the clubs and skating rinks.🥰🥰
All day long
There were a lot of babies conceived to this song!!!!
+TheFYoung You think?!!
Yep! Unfortunately I am done and am waiting for grandchildren!
In highschool a girl once said to me that she would do anything while this song was playing!
As well as reefer smoked at the basketball court. There isn't anything like running full court 5 on 5, listening to AWB on the boom box in the park.
Love making slow motion baby
The first time I've seen this group perform live was in Landover MD at the Capital Centre in 1976 right after their Live album was released. There was 22,000 people packed in that joint that night. They came out on stage without all the pyrotechnics like Earth Wind & Fire or P-Funk, They just had a banner behind them with their logo on it. All they did was picked up their instruments and JAMMED THEIR ASSES OFF FOR TWO AND A HALF HOURS!! When they played their biggest hit off that album "T.L.C." It was one gigantic party!! Those guys remembered that night so much. They appreciate all their fans all over the world but I truly believe that night they developed a special bond with Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. I've seen them perform on more than 5 times when they come through the DC area and they NEVER EVER disappointed us. Flat out AWESOME BAND!!
Landover brings back memories blike Baltimore Civic center
Wow
Dude. AWB is a great band, no question. However, they are not even in the same league as Earth Wind and Fire or Funkadelic. Not even close. EWF and Funkadelic gave you a great performance because they could AND they were top notch musicians also. They did it all.
@@dr.gordongovens38 I'm only 34 so this was before my time. But my Uncle's went to all those concerts including AWB. When u ask them what was the best performance they all say the same thing..."Parliament Funkadelic When They Landed The Mothership!". They tell the story with so much detail, I feel like I was there 💯
@@dr.gordongovens38 Hear, hear Brother! As good as this song is, it is sheer blasphemy to even try to put AWB in the same league as P-Funk and EWF! Ludicrous!
Absolutely one of the top Soul and R&B groups ever! No question. They sounded as great LIVE as on record.!!
Blue Eyed Soul. Freddie V playing the fool out that Sax
that's his name Freddy v is a beast on the sax love it
Yesssssssss Lawd!!
One of the greatest era's in the history of American music.
+Abe Garcia ....THANK U...
They come from Scotland tho.......
ha ha ha yea they do americans ha ha ha
I would love to see them in concert💗
My era.
This song is the shit a classic
❤This is Soul. (Nothing else to add, just pure soul music. Excellently executed, played and sung with passion). ¥❤
Music and bands like this are timeless. Today’s music doesn’t compare.
Ned and Hamish created true magic here. I think one of the best ballad songs ever written.
Well Said!! 🤛
This is one of my favorite songs. I never tire of listening to it.
Alright Now !
The sax player smokin
Y'all young kids don't know nothing , bout!, this shit!!
There is nothing average about this group; they are the tops; I love this song; I'm still wanting a love of my own..
These Brothers ...have Blue Eyes. Strong Funk !
Who put the thumbs down?? You crazy this is the jam!
.
I know man , how the fuck could you not like this
Thumbs downers are probably demon squad trainee's. Do you see all the love in the audience, you know the enemy cain't stand that. All morning the news about impending war made me want to hear some music.Pulled up "walk on by" ..damn! Then this... I'm good.
These gentlemen are awesome. There is absolutely nothing average about them.
I always loved the band and I knew they were blue eyes soul bros .from across the water.
Never lied
There was on black man in the group. I dont know what happened to him
Never understood the name what are they trying to say
Their name worked for them one we couldn't believe they were white,2 they specifically did black music ,3 no other white Band came close doing black music only.
Eliot Lewis spent 13 years with AWB (1989-2002) as the bass player/vocals before joining up with Daryl Hall & John Oates in 2003. He is the keyboard player/backing vocals for H&O, and has appeared on every episode of the very popular internet/TV show "Live From Daryl's House". Lewis has also had a very successful solo career outside of H&O and LFDH, touring the east coast, midwest, and Vegas over the last several years.
I was born in Dec 1978. Average white band, Santana, Malo, Boz scaggs etc. made me who I am today.😊
My mom used to play this song every chance that she gets and I fell in love with it
Please. This was my band. Thank you for finding my feelings.
I got chills and I'm speechless.
AWB one of the Greatest
yessir
ONE OF THE GREATEST SOUL BANDS EVER. LISTEN TO THIS SONG WITH THE ORIGINAL BAND AND STUART HAMISH AND ALAN GOREE TOGETHER.
The sax player blew me away! Great band from my childhood. Still performing strong and bringing back memories from a time when life was easy.
this song gives me chills....
one of the best love song ever
One of my bucket list it's to take my wife to Average White Band concert. One of my favorite groups of all time.
Good music is not black or white everybody can enjoy it
Yes
Oh, but one must always acknowledge the source, don't get it twisted! Even they would tell you whom they are "mimicking" with all do respect to the musicians themselves of course.
Xulu Xac All those cats from the UK don't seem to have any qualms about giving props to the originators.
oRuTRa45
Indeed.
Steve Wayne we invented the Finkle piano but you wouldn't know anything about that because you sound white and you want to take credit for everything like you always have. The Average White Band just like white folks. Need black folks melanated people to even have a Groove. Why do you think they had one of us in their band because we made them and their music. Mimic at his best. I'm 59 years old and believe me I know the groove I played in high school band and concert band and we had our own band that we played at the nightclubs during the 70s...
REAL TALENT...REAL SOUL.......NOTHING beats those 70s bands
I'm 67yrs old. My closest sister 8 yrs older always loved soul music in the 60's &70's. I loved it and it became my choice in music. Back then it was very hard to find on vinyl or 8 tracks then cassette tapes. Only the hits would make it to the radio play lists. I respect this music and its makers. It gives you the best feeling if u just relax listen and enjoy. So much talent.! AWB NEVER GETS OLD. BRINGS BACK SO MANY MEMORIES. god Bless all of you. THANK YOU.
Freddie Vigdor on sax, Alan Gorrie on bass and vocals,...great combination of super talent! love these guys (and the whole band too)
One Hamish Stuart's missing...
@@contourbodyYes!!! The other lead singer 🤎
Where did the '70s go? This is so sexy, its part of my "2 a.m. song list."

I don't know, but I wish we could go back just for a month; hahahahaha

MAN! those were the days of great, great song writing, and bands! I'm 61yrs old, and those where the best time of good music
Always sung this song when I was little never knew they were white! I love this performance it gave me GOOSEBUMPS!
MzPolo Diva You never knew AWB was white? Did you knew the name of the group? Still, yes, white guys can have soul too. Great song, my fave from them.
No sir i was to young at the time lol hell I didn't know my favorite group was white til I was 13! Lol Hall & Oats, Michael McDonald, Wham! Just a few but that's my parents era Tower of Power I might have been conceived to this song I was born in 72 lol

One of the most beautiful songs of all times the lyrics, meanings that transends life in this world.
Feel so stupid that I never found this masterpiece. Heard it today on Pandora and I can’t stop playing it!! AWB, love you guys!!
I am blown away by this performance. It was in one word, 'AWESOME' I found myself grooving to the beat. Watching this video just put a smile on my face. 5 stars to Average White Band :-)

So much soul!!! I love this song!!!
I have been jamming these brothers since 1974. Finally got to see them in Atlanta at a club called Cotton Club in 1981. So close that the saxophone player spit could almost hit you. One of the best the shows I have ever seen !
Classic band. Soul music has no color. Keep on keeping on.
Almost 16 years later I still approve of this song ❤
Damn my heart almost flew out of my chest.
I love this song so much. It’s so timeless.
What a Beautiful blessing,GOD has surely. BLESSED this union AMEN
I needed this song Tonight. I been feeling lonely. I don't have anyone special
One of my favorites! I was blessed with a mother who loved music. This was one of her favorite bands. This was our Saturday morning cleaning the house music.
This performance just blessed my soul.
Ive never stopped singing with & loving this special group......
These brothers were, and still are, baaaad!!!!

God yes...I love this song. I came very late into the game with them (born in '82), but I have been in love with this song for years!!!
I'm a 1979 but thanks to my people who played this and others thru the 80's and who are now part of my childhood's memories
You got here. That's what matters.
This song conceives love in your heart until love is born into your life.
They are from my home country.Scotland
I still love this song...this group, just cool we thought they were black from how they sounded. I'm 61 yrs old & still listening in 2023...wow I miss music like this.
I'm 33 years old and I'm born and raised in Memphis.. I've literally heard this song my entire life - ive played this song on the bass twice a month on Beale street and didn't think twice about the group!! I NEVER KNEW THESE GUYS WERE WHITE - EVEN WITH THE NAME!!😂
I am perplexed!! i can't wait to blow my grandaddy mind when i tell him!! He was shocked when i told him about Bobby Caldwell wasn't black!!
This is one of my all-time favorite songs the harmonies and the sax player are off the charts AWB forever. I can listen to this song all day.
I seen them at the House of blues in the 90s. No disappointments at all. Beautiful!!
Words cannot express how much I LOVE this song and performance! Perfection...
IT PUTS YOU IN A ZONE THAT FELLS SO GOOD A REALLY SEXY SONG.
What a beautiful song that's never going to grow old I keep hoping for a Love of My own God bless to all the women of the world ✝️🤘🏼
One of my FAVORITE Songs. Love Love Love it 💝💝
Blue eyed soul! 2020 and still can't get enough.
I'm impressed that they could sound exactly the same after all these years. It was always my favorite AWB song.
There was nothing average about them being a White band. They were incredibly soulful. They were amazing!!!
So amazing

THE BADDEST WHITE BANK TO EVER DO IT! " A LOVE OF MY OWN" ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS EVER
Yes indeed one of my favorite bands I’m 67 yo now. I was a teenager back when we listened to them . They were a hit with all races. ❤
class of 74 when no one gave a sh*t about color,,, we all got along and tunes like this ruled the airwaves ..... dayum what the hell happened?
It's 2022. This jam will never grow old!👍👍👍😄
One of my absolute FAVORITE songs...OMG!!!😍😍🙌🙌
A few years ago my dad and I were chilling on my balcony listening to any artist he wanted to hear. He played this song asked me, "have you heard of this song before?" I said, "of course I have and I love it". He then asked me who the artist was and I was stuck, didn't know who the band was. The kicker was finding out it was a white band 😲😯😲😯😲🤣🤣🤣 with so much soul!
Wow, this is what is called , a sexy , love making song. These gentlemen are baddddddd.
AWB was, is & continues to be pure FIRE!!!
Dude killed that sax riff. Neither the song nor the band ever get old. Own all of their albums dropped in the U.S. Their music, guaranteed to make you “hit the flo”, was fun & felt in your core. They’re playing and vocals- funky as hell! Thought the lead vocalist SAF. Was obsessed with this song, played it to death. The harmony was so cool, full of paradox. Great writing. Showcased the band’s versatility. Loved AWB since 73!
Now, this here, this MUSIC, this is real music! I dedicate this to my mama, Mrs. Linda J. Albert. rih. I know about real music because of that woman! Thanks for the exposure and the journey...
wonderful memories
♡♡♡ for your mother. I miss mine.
It just doesn’t get any better than this. Love it when they show the audience dancing 😏👍
Eliot lewis is so talented he has a unique voice. Really enjoy this song!
Yes Sir❤. Love them and this song❤. That saxophone player is LIT❤❤. Amazing. Still listening to them in 2023❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m obsessed of this song, I probably listen to it 10872662 times a day !!!!
Love this music!!! All those HORN bands and all their great songs. Nothing but SOUL.
Timeless tune y'all...
You got that right.
This song has endured some 40 yrs or more as a standard of Soul love songs!!!
Sweet sound excellent harmony from just 3 singers. I really miss the 70's music
These dudes are Awesome 👍☺️👍.
569 thumbs down 👎🏿👎🏼👎🏻. WHAT A BUNCH OF HATERS!! These Brothers was & is still with the soul / funk.... this was one of the best hit song as a kid, listening to my older brothers play this. Fall back haters, you’ve must have lost your girlfriend to this some, O well, tooo dame bad
