I truly feel like i missed my era. Im 27, but my soul is rooted in the 70s. I'm too cool for these youngsters 😎 My dad graduated high school in 1974. Me and him are the best of friends.
I was born in 1970. I got to experience the end of the 60's, grades k thru 6 in the 70's then best of all. My teens in the 80's.. I graduated highschool in 1988. I got to experience it all. From hippies, to disco, to punk, to new wave, glam rock in 1984, break dancing and then the birth of hip-hop..I saw it all...and proud of it!!!!
I heard years ago Bob Marley got the inspiration for "Get Up, Stand Up" from hearing War perform this when they toured together. Here, War pays homage back to him.
I was 12 when I bought 'Ghetto. War, Steely Dan, early Rod & Elton, and many other artists in the late '60's/early 70's produced some of the greatest music ever. I am reminded that had it not been for FM's coming of age during this era, we might never have been blessed with this music due to the length of the songs. WABB FM Mobile AL.
Listening to this song, jam takes me back to the early 1970s, more than most! I'm unable to dream apparently due to a stroke, that left me prematurely retired as a pediatrician and permanently disabled, but if I was able to dream I would love to have one with me playing my sax in such a wonderful band, as I was a sax player prior to going into medicine.
My 1st dance on this song at a birthday in 1967. I was ten years old 5th grade. My 1st crush. This will always be our song. Michael just passed away about 2 months ago. This is our song. Rest in Peace❤
WAR and Tower of Power both my favorites from back in the day. I cant watch them anymore bc the original ban members pretty much all gone. Its like watching cover bands now. Is it really WAR when only Lonnie Jordan is the only member left? Alway remember them as they were, really miss them all, especially Charles Miller and his Sax! Hope we see them all in Paradise playing for us again.
True! But they're tight here. I aint mad. The World is a Ghetto... So... They Can't Take Away Our Music... cuz the... Cisco Kid... is still a... Low Rider... rollin down... Tobacco Road... in... City Country City... In Mazatlan... or on... Magic Mountain. Just... Spill the Wine... bang the... WAR Drums... and... Don't Let No One Get You Down. Son Oh Son... Why Can't We Be Friends? lol OK I know that was corny but I couldn't resist. 🙃
To all the WATTS babies, If this one didn't send chills down your arm and spine then you ain't no friend of mine! WATTS all the way UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew these guys well. I personally knew both Milton and Gary Blaylock. At that time they living on Oak Hill Ave. and was living on Cohasset drive. They helped our very young band called "Electrik Water" get our first "Reeds Arena" gig. I've never forgotten those brothers.
