    I hope someone makes better foglights to replace the ones on my 2023 Rock Creek Pathfinder

    Great seeing a Rav4 in the demos for once!
    These seem like the closest competitor to Diode Dynamics' Elite Series fogs - curious to see how they stack up.
    Also, wondering if the beam pattern shifts vertically or not when changing the colors.

      Beam distribution does not change between White and Yellow, it retains identical beam distribution. Elite is generally about 23% brighter at beam center Zone D but horizontal spread is limited at 80° vs XB Evo fog is about 100° and outer lower angle (35L/R 4.5D) intensity allocation is enhanced for driver field of view width comfort. Elite F2 however, is as wide 100° as XB Evo fog equivalent model 106° DD Elite F2 fog They also have backlight Elite Distribution character is bit off tho, e-max position is at lower end of zone D somehow, near field peakiness somewhat disrupt relative width strength to my preference. But it does its job at very high intensity, and it is wide. Elite is SAE F3 design, XB evo is SAE/ECE F3 About White light color, Elite is about 6000+K white with blue chromatic aberration, XB Evo is 5500~5700K white, blue is blend off, yellow is about same selective yellow range. Depend on what quality you are looking for in fog lamp determine which is better choice for you. Hope this information helps your decision!

      @@yoshiishida6577 Thanks for the comparison rundown, Yoshitaka.
      So you've decided to sacrifice a little bit of photometric intensity in favor of more width, I take it?

      @@contagiousingenuityagency5273 In short, you can say so but more like I didn't particularly worry about much of beam center zone D intensity. I had other objective far more valuable as fog function in my philosophy. I made good refined fog light , not to please selected singular point photometric intensity number nor wall shot picture impression. What I focused on was most refined distribution balance proper fog light. That satisfy both SAE and ECE F3. Zone D photometric intensity of fog light really isn't critical as fog lamp. Most of low beam distribution covers near field volume plenty adequate, what low beam cannot spare too much focus is near field width comfort. This is bit of challenge way of explain, but judging beam spread by horizontal degree is not sufficient. The reason I said enhanced intensity allocation to 35L/R 4.5D relative to zone D was because driver view width comfort does not linearly corresponds to on the wall width impression, or maximum H axis spread in degree numbers alone. There is very specific illumination mapping contribute to driver view comfort I pursued. How to allocate useful relative strength to where it matters was highlight of this optics I would say. 106° spread potency sound amazing as lamp, it's not bad thing to boast about, but reality is, bumper cutout could block some of beam spread in not too few application I believe. Then giving widest spread number also wasn't my priority either. Within driver view recognizable illumination field, how to allocate most effective illumination mapping as fog lamp was my strong first focus. And I also know it's likely hard for many to understand in depth concept, so I set "very wide beam, ample bright" in simplified front face term. I am very confident, distribution is great, and plenty/correctly bright for fog. Hope someone find value in this optical design!

    How do these compare to off road banger lights with wide beam patterns? These lights look super slick

    • @yoshiishida6577
      @yoshiishida6577 Місяць тому +6

      About 20° wider than Banger wide beam, intensity at beam center is about 85% of 2Banger NCS wide beam. But do not to get confused by e-max value comparison, what fog needs is outer lower angle intensity stretch, near beam center intensity numbers are really just for overly simplified showcasing method, not that important. It's about regulation upper limit of ECE F3, plenty strong and properly strong Banger wide beam is offroad wide beam that is OK to use as fog when aimed carefully, not ideal as fog lamp. (2 Banger NCS still meet SAE J583 F3 actually, so it's still very much decent/reasonable as fog, just not as refined as XB Evo fog.) XB Evo fog is designed as proper fog lamp to begin with. Different class. XB Evo fog Distribution is highly refined to the max

      LF092 - Evo Fogs (White)
      LF093 - Evo+ Fogs (White/Yellow)
