You’re not lying, have to go up to a Laramie trim to get the Mega Cab. Our 07 5.9 Cummins Dodge Ram 2500 SLT is a Mega Cab and it’s so roomy with plenty of space for tools and cargo. It’s like Stellantis is sabotaging Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, Jeep on purpose cutting options and jacking up prices.
All the manufacturers are doing this type of things with HD trucks. Been doing it at least the last 2 years. Ford called it "equipment shortage".. and only offered some items on specific trim levels. GMC as well. I don't follow Dodge.
Increasing prices, removing standard options on previous models, and the list keeps going. Even certain options, like heated seats and wheel or even LED lights on the Big Horn, were reasonable. I guess not anymore. You should be able to get the Mega Cab no matter what trim level you get. Manufacturers are out of touch with the average consumer. As I've said, people keep paying these ridiculous prices so they will continue to charge them!
This is really unfortunate. Honestly, people should be able to get a Megacab on a tradesman if they want. This really sucks as I was in the market for a 2023 bighorn Megacab and not a Laramie Megacab.
I know this wasn’t a big seller but because of how much pricing has increased, it’s hard to justify stepping up to higher trims when you’re already having sticker shock for lower trims… Tradesman can creep over $80k now 👍🏾
I have a 2018 Limited 3500 dually, HO 6.7, aisin trans with all options, none of the new Rams give me a reason to trade. Especially with mine being paid for with only 43k miles. I just pray that mine don't get totaled and I have to replace it!
Great review. I’ve been a Cummins mega cab owner for a long time. Because of recent changes and not updating the power train on the 2500 trucks, they lost a lifetime customer. I bought a (gasp) power stroke crew cab and love it. I will probably never go back to a Ram.
MSRP prices in America seem to be alot higher compared to Canada? Not sure the reason for this? I just bought a 2023 Ram 3500 DRW Tradesman with the Ho, black paint, 12inch screen, level 2 equipment group, 5th wheel prep, big tank, 7inch cluster, aux switches and more. For 62795 USD.
Ram has really screwed up the 23s. Have to go to a Laramie to get the Rambox, limited to get the digital mirror. My 22 BH has both with a 60k MSRP. To get the things I have on a well optioned BH would be 71k laramie, still no tow digital mirror. A BH without the rambox, it would be a 68k.
Thank you for showing the inner door sticker with the payload numbers! How much extra payload with the 6.4 hemi get compared to the 6.7 Cummins? I’m guessing about 500lbs to 700lbs more.
Do you have any recommandations for a SRW truck you would use for a raptor 423" toy hauler?... I know i need a dually lol but I was just curious if you HAD to pick out a SRW which would it be. hitch weight is 3,700LBS
“Just get a Laramie” lol. I have a Big Horn with group 2 package, and it would’ve still been another $4k (Canadian) to go up to a Laramie. There were other features I was wanting before all the extras inside that the Laramie has. Besides, if I want leather I can just get Katzkin leather to replace the cloth. Two other things it appears the BigHorn doesn’t offer for 2023 (at least in Canada) that I really like - Rambox and the tow tech package (with the surround cameras).
What are the latest rumors about the next gen Ram HD's? They are starting to get outclassed by GM & Ford with this now 13 yr old truck. Add in the fact that they now are the most expensive, and it's getting harder to stay with Ram.
I know the Ram fanboy in you can’t let you say it, but man Ram is going to fall off a cliff compared to the other guys if they don’t update their HD trucks. This truck has essentially been around since 2010! Same cab. Same bed. And I believe same engine power level. You can’t tout the HO Cummins when it’s not available in a 2500. I’ve never been a fan of the mega cab styling but if I were buying a Ram I’d want it just to get the extra room. I do say it’s completely stupid to have to option for extra room that the other guys are giving you standard. Mega cab duallies and their short bed are dumb! It’s a like a dually for guys that don’t need a dually!
Mega Cab duallys by far look the best. I’m also confused as to why you say this, some guys need the extra room and the stability of a dually but just don’t need the max towing option. I’d pick a 3500 mega cab dually to pull a fifth wheel camper over a 2500 all day. And that’s coming from a 2500 Mega Cab owner.
@@WalkerTatBlackBearCDJR it’s the short bed. I just think it makes them look even more goofy plus you still have to be extra careful towing a fifth wheel with tight turns. It can be done for sure but atleast with the crew cab long bed its easier. Just my opinion and everyone has a different one especially when it comes to styling. But I think even a hardcore Ram fan has to admit they are well past needing an update at this point.
Oh I said that ram will lose this year in the video and I believe that because of this ancient truck with higher price tag (💄 on a 🐷). The mega dually is the coolest truck on the market and quite honestly I would buy one over longbed so I can park it in the garage 😂
@@JB_WhoWork I have a friend that loves them too. He doesn’t like long bed trucks though either for the same reason I don’t like mega cab duallies. He thinks they look goofy lol. I wouldn’t care to get a long bed for my next truck honestly. I think with the new GMs and Fords they actually look pretty good. But man they would be a nightmare for parking. Which I say that and it’s not like my current truck and your truck is easy. Lol.
That’s same tire I run on my 05 Dodge 3500 5.9 6 speed manual dullay 4 door and 4x4 manual shifter and I get at least 60k out of a set of Trans Force but I run HT going to try a set of AT Trans Force but I rotate my tires twice a year put the two right rears to the front and take the two front tires to the right rear and when your steer tires start to round off your front tires that’s when I rotate my tires !!
I have a tradesman around me for 58k at one dealership and a big horn at another for 60k the only difference i see is the turn signals on mirrors. Same radios and everything Im just wondering of the real doffrences the tradesman msrp is 64k Big horn msrp is 67k
It also appears that they dropped the 50 gallon tank option for 2500 longbeds for '23, last time I looked. Forcing you into the highest option package to get the premium LED headlights is also stupid.
Was looking at rams but their price increase are insane. Worst of all 3. This same truck was 10k less 2 years ago. You can get pretty much the same stuff minus air ride on a Chevy for about 68k. That will be my route this summer when I buy my new truck.
One thing you can’t get in that Chevy is a strong engine brake or a solid front axle. Which ALL HD trucks SHOULD have. GMs HD trucks is like having a heavy halfton like Ram and Ford made back in the day.
@@WalkerTatBlackBearCDJR. Some people’s uses of a HD truck are different. Here in New England where the roads are a mess. The solid axle sucks. Our trucks are loaded with welding machines and tools so the engine brake is a non factor. Not everyone needs a diesel and the problems they come with. 🤷🏻♂️
Insane Checkout the Ford pricing That’s insane. I went from diesel to Gas. Ordered a 2023 heavy duty 2500 Hemi tradesman model Billet Silver with everything I needed to get job done posi, 410, Snow Plow prep , 8.4 w/NAV to name a few. I can always get leather installed and other plug & play options not on Tradesman. $62 K
@@josephpuchel6497 smart purchase. My Cummins’ warranty was up and didn’t want to delete it. Bought a 2500 6.4 and got 10k off msrp, and frankly love this truck. I miss my Cummins (mostly at red lights when I would see people look over at my truck) but this gas rig does everything I need, without all the environmental crap to worry about. 🤙🏼
I noticed this a couple months ago but figured it must’ve been a mistake in the code on the website or something since no one was talking about it. I guess it’s true. Mainly I was wanting the big horn so I could get a mega cab in one of the low volume colors

@@Radley97 I’ll have to look into that, thanks!
34 bucks and you can pop on the assisted tailgate struts. Easy peezy
Nice review JB. It is interesting that this '23 has really not changed much in terms of features from my 2014 Loaded Big Horn.
Thanks and you’re not kidding… I would personally wait to see what they do next year 👍🏾

I wonder how many sales ram is willing to lose until the figure out that they can't just keep pulling options and adding to the MSRP
Mega cabs are awesome, ram needs to keep what there famous for. Mega cab & Cummins.
But the 5th gen cab is bigger. They just need to make the HD's with the 5th gen cab already.
Pretty much every manufacturers 150/1500 cab is bigger than the HD crew cabs. That’s not just a Ram thing.
Yup, killing this cab was a bad idea…

that's a lot of money for not very many options. got my 22 bighorn for about that price. and it's almost loaded
Same
$75k is steep for sure… I think $65k is still a lot when you consider these were mid $50k range 3 years ago…

Mega cab to me looks way to big for the tiny box they put behind it.
ALL MEGA CABS need ATLEAST leveled if not lifted. Once that is completed they look like monsters.
I agree with this, needs a 7FT bed

I personally don’t want a Laramie because I hate leather! But love the megacab.. Sucks man.
And people thought the manuel transmission would be around forever, Ram is still selling a 2009 truck for 2023 prices, lol what a joke.

Stay away from air suspension. They are a pain. Add aftermarket air springs.

No such thing from the factory… That would be a custom build from a mom and pop shop..
Is it just me or did Ram make the 2023 2500 look like a 1500 with body lines and height?
also ram has now removed the vin look up on their website
Hopefully my dude got himself some serious discounts/ rebates because that sticker price ……. Yikes
