I had my xbox pluged in during a thunder storm nothing smell or looks burnt I switched the cord with my TV and the cord for the xbox power cord works on my TV do I need to send it in
Mine is making buzzing chirping sound and it’s never got water on it , it was working ish but would start lagging and closing games after playing for an hour n would b really hot and when I turn it off it starts the buzzing chirp sound louder I pulled out the power supply and plugged it in off the motherbonow and it was making the sound then I put it back together to test,and it doesn’t even get lights or a fan start up spin now
There should be a bleeding resistor to discharge the rectifying big cap when unplugged. Unfortunately many manufacturers ommit this part to cut costs..
No but I've fixed thousands of smps, they are mostly the same, I'm a TV technician from way back , faults can be found by checking volts rails to devices and bias , as well as low resistance measurement to find shorts, also when you can find individual data sheets on ics and transistors on line, did you see the video I did on the original xbox supply? . Also if you got another power supply the same working you can compare readings Thks Dave cassells
Wonderful video! But i have a question. Mine doesn't turn on at all, and it does not smell burnt. It smells okay. Is this a motherboard problem? Or do i just need a new power supply?

sounds like its the power supply you can but some on ebay for like $35 AUD

Hello there did you find a soluttion for that did you fix your xbox? Iam facing that trouble right now and I don’t know what to do
How do i know what failed in my xbox? My xbox immediatelly after the white light turns on turns itself off help.

You need to check the voltage comming out of the power supply , could be either faulty
