Except it's not crap. It's their best Pokemon game by far on the Switch as it brought close to what people wanted for a Pokemon game. SV just needed to tweak things of that game in theirs but they decided to change it entirely.
That's not the issue. The truth is the original ganefreak developers are no longer spearheading the development of pokemon games anymore. Gen 5 was their last push. T They started to let new, younger developers get their hands on developing the games onward. They've been a lot more hands off. It's easy to forget, but the original developers in gamefreak from 1999 are getting old now. And there are always younger talent who want to get their big shot at creating the next big thing.

Hearing about Mario Wonder having no deadlines should be the example Pokemon Company should apply to their games. Like have multiple teams working on the main title, another group doing side games and polish them to their absolute best. It’s not a matter of ‘IF’ but ‘SHOULD’ be a prime reason to sell under the Nintendo brand. I get it, unless Nintendo owns more shares of Pokémon they can’t really have a say on the game scheduling itself. But it shouldn’t take a ‘buyout’ to make a difference, if the investors are none the wiser.
That knowledge of knowing they had no deadlines proves how TPC can't get away with Pokemon. It's THE most beloved franchise in the world and to have games like SV as their current representation? It's not the same.

I cant even disagree, Pokemon used to be Awesome but with the way things have been I dont see things changing. After so long theyre just running out of ideas and settling for quantity over quality. I mean remember at one point we had to learn braille juat to get legendaries. Nowadays, theyre just wrapping mediocre storylines and post league gameplay in better graphics. Only sad thing is they know people will keep buying. And that upcoming DLC, will be the first time i wont be buying because im just tired of the same thing.
Gamefreak, Nintendo, the Pokemon Company has no excuse as to why their game can't be as engaging to as wide an audience as possible. "A kids' game" isn't an excuse. Kirby, Zelda,B and Mario are also made for kids and they are far more engaging and competent than anything Pokemon has put out in the last decade or so. They tricked us with S/V with selling us a dream. The dream of them taking what worked in Arceus and the features that people liked and combining them into the game. We held out hope that it would be fixed. We were not only burned but actively spat on. I hope that developers look at Pokemon and get emboldened to make their own monster capture game so that next gen of Pokemon flops. Gamefreak needs a brutal wake-up call and the only way for that to happen is for their bottom line to take a major hit. Good games take time to develop. There is no other way around it. You have to program it and you have to test it. If you want to actually retain your quality and fanbase, do that. Lord knows they are already doing enough to spurn their fanbase by shutting down free fan games other stuff the fans are doing to keep the love for the franchise alive.
We need more videos like this! we need more people with platforms discussing the issues with the pokemon company. We are consumers! we have the right to complain about a product that is not up to the standard that we paid for.
I think one of the best thing Pokemon can do is focus more in spin off games between games while making the time between main game bigger, that will allow more time to better the quality (and maybe start doing more animation for the poor pokemon) while also making sure that there's games to talk about, depending on the game they could even do more things like different toys and plushies about that odd pokemon or make a smaller but official competitions around the game. And, as a bonus, this probably would also help boost the selling of the spin off games if they do it for long enough
It's either the games are finished but mediocre in how the adventure is structured, or the structure is really good but they're unfinished with bugs. There's no winning with Pokemon because when they do something right, they do something very wrong and what they did right doesn't even matter because of how much the wrong thing stands out
Mine was Gen 1-3 and Gen 5 and that's it. After Gen 5, I don't bother with Pokemon for many, many years. And to be honest, I love Pokemon for the creatures itself, not really the mainline series games.

Older gens used to have more content, as well as spin-offs man (Hey You Pikachu, Pokemon Channel, Pokemon Stadium 1+2, Colosseum, XD Gale of Darkness, Battle Revolution, PokePark 1+2, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Trozei, Dash (DS), Pinball (Original & Ruby version), and My Pokemon Ranch comes to mind), but I can't say the same for generations 6 and onward. But yeah, ever since generation 5, Pokemon, much like Digimon, has been an on & off franchise for a good 15-20 years now since the mid 2000s.
They are too scared to change the formula so they make 1 or 2 changes every main game in the form of gimicks and then see where that goes XD And I will point out they tried to make mega evolution a continued thing but they obviously didnt know where to go with it so back to the gimick list Im hoping they next pokemon game is more like LOA and not like S&V they made the content too focused on raids that are just not fun
The Pokemon franchise has made most of its revenue through merchandise for a while now. They also know people will buy the mainline games en masse no matter what. Ultimately nothing's going to improve unless we the consumers start expressing our point of views with our wallets. But that's not gonna happen.
At this point, everyone that says Pokemon Unite is pay to win clearly did not play more than a few minutes. My guy, I played Unite for around 2 months in the Zacian season and had 2/3 Pokemon, missed only 4 items and had almost all my items at level 20 (you do not have to max them to 30). I spent no money on that game.
6 years for a mainline game! We have enough pokemon as it is and they dont even use them all for the merch etc. So why in arceus name do we need a new one every 3 years?! Let one generation of kids grow up with 1 mainline game and maybe a remake and then give us the next one! All my friends no longer buy the games but emulate them and when they see that the game runs or looks like crap they dont buy it and i can assure you more and more ppl will start doing this because who wants tp spend 70$ (or more and now there is even dlc involved) on a broken game?!
I love pokemon, but i didn't buy any pokemon game since Sun/Mon because, i hate how pokemon have become, now i bought Scarlett recently because i wanted to transfer and use my original Ruby/Sapphire pokemons that i have been transferring since then, even with the bug i liked the game, but it really piss me off when i saw there's lots of content of DLC because is a freakin $60 bucks incomplete game and already giving some money to them with pokemon home, but man i won't buy any dlc, unless i have a massive discount like Steam do, i guess Steam do what nintendon't (sorry haha)

So here's where Im at. I dont want to wait 7 years for a game, cause thats just way too long for a game, but I also want games that look and play good. Im actually a fan of the simpler scope of the older style, and I feel like they could get away with simpler scope games. Not every game needs to be this big open world game. I'd rather have a creatively diverse set of pokemon games than one "big" game with nothing of interest to do.
Pokemon Sun and Moon came out 8 years ago. Almost a decade. Which means Pokemon games have sucked for almost a decade.... "Oh it's just your opinion" some say. NO!! it's not "just my opinion"... The reason why pokemon sucks now is because of the consistent pandering of the gimmicks, the merchandise & the mediocrity excuse that children are their only target audience. X & Y had megas? They weren't shoved down our throats at every turn. You could still play pokemon like pokemon was meant to be. The merch? The reason why pokemon is rushed. They're treating the franchise like a brand now. "Shareholders" you say? Disney shareholders are pissed because of the lost investments. If the games aren't fixed by Gen 10, the same thing will happen to us Pokemon Fans. And sadly they don't get that their target audience isn't even children anymore. More adults play pokemon than kids do now. It's not E for everybody yet they continue to develop it as a Y7 game. I'm just sick of all the sucking. I seriously need to stop punishing myself saying I like this franchise.

Pokemon will never improve because they are making billions and are still the number one grossing franchise of all time. Pokemon fans have no standards and it shows with each release. When other games release in a buggy heap of shit of a state, they fail and get blasted by reviewers and fans alike. When Pokemon games release in a buggy heap of shit of a state, they go on to break sales numbers, make billions, game reviewers give it a 10/10 and the community calls anyone who criticizes it "toxic." Pokémon died off imo after gen 6 fully gen 6 pushed it but it was still good for what it was. Gen 7 wasnt all bad but not alot of good outweighed the bad and it continued into gen 9.

No. Pokemon is always a single player experience based on how they craft the story and world of each gen. You can take elements of it for multiplayer, but it's better to leave it be.
One thing about Pokemon Spin-Offs: they all sold poorly on the Switch in comparison to mainline games. While mainline games get 10s of millions of copies sold, and they sell more the worse they are, games such as New Snap, PMD remake, Pokken, the barely sold 2 million copies.
It's quite sad how much better quality spin-offs get shoved to the side in favor of the mainstream. It makes you wonder why people don't bother or care for these side games that would distract those loving pokemon while the main series is still being worked on. Personally I was always a side/spinoff type of Pokemon Person, not really a mainline series person. But since 2007/2010, I haven't bothered playing pokemon that much (except my older sister, she still buys it to this very day).
2023, and Heartgold (a game from 2010) is still better than any of the mainline switch games, but hey as long as the zombie consumer keeps purchasing this mediocre product and its dlc, why will Gf put any effort?? So the current consumer is part to blame.
Inti Creates, M2, Arika, and Code Mystics can probably make Pokémon games better-especially with anime graphics that would allow potential for the Regional PokéDex, National PokéDex, Abilities working in and out of battles, sex dimorphic characters, sex-locked clothes and hairstyles, overworld Pokémon, Loto-ID, rematches, Battle Frontier, reusable TMs, TRs, HMs, arcades, farming, and others.
Scarlet and Violet have their issues but the good far outpaces the bad in a game that has some excellent storytelling, some neat visuals in the right areas, an incredible soundtrack and features reasonable online gaming experiences together with a lot of masterful nods to the past of the franchise. I think the loudest voices in the fandom are maybe making Pokemon seem worse than it is. Gen 9 comes off the back of Gen 8 where TPC’s development of their gameplay has been getting bigger and bigger in scope whilst retaining their in-house expertise. I personally love S/V as games and whilst I’d like there to be better graphics, I’ve not gone looking for nor had the level of glitches throughout that others have absolutely homed in on. In short, I don’t see S/V as Pokemon in decline; on the contrary its success shows Pokemon on the rise. Gen 10 will likely nail the open world formula better but there is no denying that Paldea has been a good proper first introduction to this gameplay.

Personaly as a 13 year old knew pokemon for half my life i kearned some stuff everyone says gen 1-5 are the best gens because they played them gens as a kid I could see a world where in 7-10 years time gen 8 or gen 9 are regarded as the "best pokemon games" because people who played them as kids are now older and there expirience was different to say an adult playing however i still do belive game freak need to at least take 4 years on a main series game because the graphic and bugs in scarlet and violet are pretty bad good story tho
That's what I've been thinking too with Gens 5 - 9. Eventually people who grew up on those games will eventually be 20+ year old adults and see their children play the same games they played when they were younger. But unfortunately, the games our children get is much lower quality than those growing up in the 1990s and early 2000s. I'm glad to have lived in a generation when 3D and 2D games were released on the same console as each other (PS1, Sega Saturn, and N64 for example), before they went all out on 3D gaming in the 6th generation (Gamecube, Xbox, PS2). So yeah, I hope Pokemon gets better, but I'm not holding my breath. I like the monsters, just not the games sadly.
You are so right. RBY and GSC are good games. RSE is really bland but still good enough. DPPT are the worst games ever, boring as hell. Gen 5 sucks too, boring as hell with shitty Pokémon designs. I haven't played Gen 6. Gen 7 Alola was really good. Loved Alola so much. Gen 8 Sword and Shield was good but so disappointing as it was short but together with dlc it was a 6/10. Legends was the game that i loved for the first 40 hours but it got tedious and the other maps were very trashy. SV are super shitty with shitty cutscenes and bad storyline. Didn't enjoy much of it. 5/10. Pokémon had shitty games since Diamond and Pearl, its not new at all

I've accepted it all the way back in March 2020, it's just that I was more of an anime/movie/video game spinoff type of person. I've played Pokemon Yellow back in 1999/2000 and didn't find animals fighting eachother in battle appealing to me. It was one thing with Super Smash Bros. 64+Melee and I found those ALOOOT funnier than Pokemon battles, but what I am mentioning is that I feel bad for the children of today whom grew up with later generations that never experienced the pokemania as well as the 2000s much like the late 1980s to the late 1990s children did. I do think the ones who complain the most about it as those whom watched shows in the 1970s and 1980s that see a lot of content from the 1990s succeed wwaaayyy more compared to the content Generation X grew up on (so I can see their concerns and complaints much like the Pokemon fandom today, I am merely just a casual person that likes the creatures in the Pocket Monsters universe but that's about it, everything else is extra to me, but I do keep up with the generations to see what new monsters the artist have come up with in newer generations). So while I do think Generations 1-5 were the best, they're by no means perfect at all, and to be honest, Game Freak, unlike Namco & Nintendo (which is why I'm more of a Namco fan than a Pokemon fan, sorry Pokemon fans but Namco games play, sound, and work great, especially from the arcade boards and the PS1 Namco Museum Vols. themselves), are most likely devs whom have some experience in game development, but don't really know the other half of how to make the performance and compression size of the game done well. And plus, After Gen 5 they wanted to go off into other types of games they wish to do with no success. Also, Generations 1, 2, and 5 are my top picks, 3 and 4 are honorable mentions, and 6-9 are merely what I call the "modern day" versions of Pokemon compared to the 2000s and before. But again, I"m not the one to complain since the last Pokemon game I bought was My Pokemon Ranch all the way back in 2010/2011, and since then, I haven't bothered to play any nintendo or sony games ever since (not even microsoft's games either since the early 2010s). I used to be a console/video game fan back in the 1990s and 2000s, but since the 2010s, I haven't been a fan of it, more of just a casual that usually picks one game I like the most and stick with it. BUT, I kinda do see the problems with the games now, very clearly, and have made it to a point where I'd rather pick up a game like Astral Chain or Devil May Cry 5 where I would've bought another okay-ish Pokemon game.

I've been enjoying your content for a while, but after an unsubstantiated rant like this, I'm not sticking around. Temper your expectations and do your research.
The way that they are is Game Freak isn't giving time to develop proper games, Pokemon Company has severely merchandized the franchise, and hasn't given the spin off the same level of love that they used to before. It's not doom posting when despite enjoying the games regardless, everyone is literally feeling the same way. Legends needed time to breathe and we could've waited for another year on SV but TPC never saw that. It's the reality with the franchise right now. And I did explain my reasoning and did my research numerous times already in various videos no one seemed to care watching.
The Mystery Dungeon franchise was the biggest spin off for them during the 3rd to 6th gen. Explorers specifically was made with such care. Mystery Dungeon DX was amazing, but it didn't feel the same. New Pokemon Snap was great, but not much was promoted for it. You had the Colosseum games and Battle Revolution. Nowadays you have mobile games which get fun but they're all built with gacha elements and don't feel as innovative as the past spin off. The last time they did that was Pokemon Duel and they removed that game off the Play Store

I mean remember at one point we had to learn braille juat to get legendaries. Nowadays, theyre just wrapping mediocre storylines and post league gameplay in better graphics. Gamefreak, Nintendo, the Pokemon Company has no excuse as to why their game can't be as engaging to as wide an audience as possible. "A kids' game" isn't an excuse. Kirby, Zelda,B and Mario are also made for kids and they are far more engaging and competent than anything Pokemon has put out in the last decade or so. They tricked us with S/V with selling us a dream. The dream of them taking what worked in Arceus and the features that people liked and combining them into the game. We held out hope that it would be fixed. We were not only burned but actively spat on. I hope that developers look at Pokemon and get emboldened to make their own monster capture game so that next gen of Pokemon flops. Gamefreak needs a brutal wake-up call and the only way for that to happen is for their bottom line to take a major hit.
Good games take time to develop. There is no other way around it. You have to program it and you have to test it. If you want to actually retain your quality and fanbase, do that. Lord knows they are already doing enough to spurn their fanbase by shutting down free fan games other stuff the fans are doing to keep the love for the franchise alive.
The fans need to learn not to expect new games and content each year as well.

Pokemon rode the Switch and Go/Mobile crazy with a lot of success. It's not going to find that same level of success on a future console.

I think one of the best thing Pokemon can do is focus more in spin off games between games while making the time between main game bigger, that will allow more time to better the quality (and maybe start doing more animation for the poor pokemon) while also making sure that there's games to talk about, depending on the game they could even do more things like different toys and plushies about that odd pokemon or make a smaller but official competitions around the game. And, as a bonus, this probably would also help boost the selling of the spin off games if they do it for long enough

It's either the games are finished but mediocre in how the adventure is structured, or the structure is really good but they're unfinished with bugs. Last one I played was aloha was enough for me gen 3-7 happy with my run with Pokémon
Mine was Gen 1-3 and Gen 5 and that's it. After Gen 5, I don't bother with Pokemon for many, many years. And to be honest, I love Pokemon for the creatures itself, not really the mainline series games.

Older gens used to have more content, as well as spin-offs man (Hey You Pikachu, Pokemon Channel, Pokemon Stadium 1+2, Colosseum, XD Gale of Darkness, Battle Revolution, PokePark 1+2, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Trozei, Dash (DS), Pinball (Original & Ruby version), and My Pokemon Ranch comes to mind), but I can't say the same for generations 6 and onward.
But yeah, ever since generation 5, Pokemon, much like Digimon, has been an on & off franchise for a good 15-20 years now since the mid 2000s.
They are too scared to change the formula so they make 1 or 2 changes every main game in the form of gimicks and then see where that goes XD
And I will point out they tried to make mega evolution a continued thing but they obviously didnt know where to go with it so back to the gimick list

At this point, everyone that says Pokemon Unite is pay to win clearly did not play more than a few minutes. My guy, I played Unite for around 2 months in the Zacian season and had 2/3 Pokemon, missed only 4 items and had almost all my items at level 20 (you do not have to max them to 30). I spent no money on that game.

I love pokemon, but i didn't buy any pokemon game since Sun/Mon because, i hate how pokemon have become, now i bought Scarlett recently because i wanted to transfer and use my original Ruby/Sapphire pokemons that i have been transferring since then, even with the bug i liked the game, but it really piss me off when i saw there's lots of content of DLC because is a freakin $60 bucks incomplete game and already giving some money to them with pokemon home, but man i won't buy any dlc, unless i have a massive discount like Steam do, i guess Steam do what nintendon't (sorry haha)
Honestly, if something as simple as wanting all three mobs instead of just one could turn the entire Minecraft community against Mojang, then why can't we protest the laziness and greed of Game Freak? So here's where Im at. I dont want to wait 7 years for a game, cause thats just way too long for a game, but I also want games that look and play good. Im actually a fan of the simpler scope of the older style, and I feel like they could get away with simpler scope games. Not every game needs to be this big open world game. I'd rather have a creatively diverse set of pokemon games than one "big" game with nothing of interest to do.

The reason why pokemon sucks now is because of the consistent pandering of the gimmicks, the merchandise & the mediocrity excuse that children are their only target audience.

The merch? The reason why pokemon is rushed. They're treating the franchise like a brand now. "Shareholders" you say? Disney shareholders are pissed because of the lost investments. If the games aren't fixed by Gen 10, the same thing will happen to us Pokemon Fans.
And sadly they don't get that their target audience isn't even children anymore. More adults play pokemon than kids do now. It's not E for everybody yet they continue to develop it as a Y7 game.

Pokemon will never improve because they are making billions and are still the number one grossing franchise of all time. Pokemon fans have no standards and it shows with each release.

Pokémon died off imo after gen 6 fully gen 6 pushed it but it was still good for what it was. Gen 7 wasnt all bad but not alot of good outweighed the bad and it continued into gen 9.

No. Pokemon is always a single player experience based on how they craft the story and world of each gen. You can take elements of it for multiplayer, but it's better to leave it be.
One thing about Pokemon Spin-Offs: they all sold poorly on the Switch in comparison to mainline games. While mainline games get 10s of millions of copies sold, and they sell more the worse they are, games such as New Snap, PMD remake, Pokken, the barely sold 2 million copies.
It's quite sad how much better quality spin-offs get shoved to the side in favor of the mainstream. It makes you wonder why people don't bother or care for these side games that would distract those loving pokemon while the main series is still being worked on. Personally I was always a side/spinoff type of Pokemon Person, not really a mainline series person. But since 2007/2010, I haven't bothered playing pokemon that much (except my older sister, she still buys it to this very day).

2023, and Heartgold (a game from 2010) is still better than any of the mainline switch games, but hey as long as the zombie consumer keeps purchasing this mediocre product and its dlc, why will Gf put any effort?? So the current consumer is part to blame.
Inti Creates, M2, Arika, and Code Mystics can probably make Pokémon games better-especially with anime graphics that would allow potential for the Regional PokéDex, National PokéDex, Abilities working in and out of battles, sex dimorphic characters, sex-locked clothes and hairstyles, overworld Pokémon, Loto-ID, rematches, Battle Frontier, reusable TMs, TRs, HMs, arcades, farming, and others.
Scarlet and Violet have their issues but the good far outpaces the bad in a game that has some excellent storytelling, some neat visuals in the right areas, an incredible soundtrack and features reasonable online gaming experiences together with a lot of masterful nods to the past of the franchise. I think the loudest voices in the fandom are maybe making Pokemon seem worse than it is. Gen 9 comes off the back of Gen 8 where TPC’s development of their gameplay has been getting bigger and bigger in scope whilst retaining their in-house expertise. I personally love S/V as games and whilst I’d like there to be better graphics, I’ve not gone looking for nor had the level of glitches throughout that others have absolutely homed in on. In short, I don’t see S/V as Pokemon in decline; on the contrary its success shows Pokemon on the rise. Gen 10 will likely nail the open world formula better but there is no denying that Paldea has been a good proper first introduction to this gameplay.

That's what I've been thinking too with Gens 5 - 9. Eventually people who grew up on those games will eventually be 20+ year old adults and see their children play the same games they played when they were younger. But unfortunately, the games our children get is much lower quality than those growing up in the 1990s and early 2000s. I'm glad to have lived in a generation when 3D and 2D games were released on the same console as each other (PS1, Sega Saturn, and N64 for example), before they went all out on 3D gaming in the 6th generation (Gamecube, Xbox, PS2). So yeah, I hope Pokemon gets better, but I'm not holding my breath. I like the monsters, just not the games sadly.
You are so right. RBY and GSC are good games. RSE is really bland but still good enough. DPPT are the worst games ever, boring as hell. Gen 5 sucks too, boring as hell with shitty Pokémon designs. I haven't played Gen 6. Gen 7 Alola was really good. Loved Alola so much. Gen 8 Sword and Shield was good but so disappointing as it was short but together with dlc it was a 6/10. Legends was the game that i loved for the first 40 hours but it got tedious and the other maps were very trashy. SV are super shitty with shitty cutscenes and bad storyline. Didn't enjoy much of it. 5/10. Pokémon had shitty games since Diamond and Pearl, its not new at all

@@a.x.x8184 Here's the thing. I'm merely a casual when it comes to Pokemon, so I don't hate the new generations as much as other people. I've accepted it all the way back in March 2020, it's just that I was more of an anime/movie/video game spinoff type of person. I've played Pokemon Yellow back in 1999/2000 and didn't find animals fighting eachother in battle appealing to me. It was one thing with Super Smash Bros. 64+Melee and I found those ALOOOT funnier than Pokemon battles, but what I am mentioning is that I feel bad for the children of today whom grew up with later generations that never experienced the pokemania as well as the 2000s much like the late 1980s to the late 1990s children did. I do think the ones who complain the most about it as those whom watched shows in the 1970s and 1980s that see a lot of content from the 1990s succeed wwaaayyy more compared to the content Generation X grew up on (so I can see their concerns and complaints much like the Pokemon fandom today, I am merely just a casual person that likes the creatures in the Pocket Monsters universe but that's about it, everything else is extra to me, but I do keep up with the generations to see what new monsters the artist have come up with in newer generations).
So while I do think Generations 1-5 were the best, they're by no means perfect at all, and to be honest, Game Freak, unlike Namco & Nintendo (which is why I'm more of a Namco fan than a Pokemon fan, sorry Pokemon fans but Namco games play, sound, and work great, especially from the arcade boards and the PS1 Namco Museum Vols. themselves), are most likely devs whom have some experience in game development, but don't really know the other half of how to make the performance and compression size of the game done well. And plus, After Gen 5 they wanted to go off into other types of games they wish to do with no success.
Also, Generations 1, 2, and 5 are my top picks, 3 and 4 are honorable mentions, and 6-9 are merely what I call the "modern day" versions of Pokemon compared to the 2000s and before. But again, I"m not the one to complain since the last Pokemon game I bought was My Pokemon Ranch all the way back in 2010/2011, and since then, I haven't bothered to play any nintendo or sony games ever since (not even microsoft's games either since the early 2010s). I used to be a console/video game fan back in the 1990s and 2000s, but since the 2010s, I haven't been a fan of it, more of just a casual that usually picks one game I like the most and stick with it. I tend to have more fun with the Roller Coaster Tycoon series, Palworld, Call of Duty Black Ops 1 Zombies, Cities Skylines/SimCity, and 7 Days To Die more often than I do with Pokemon...Hope this helps.

realistically, people would more likely buy a game like pokemon (especially children) as it's a comfort game, Pokemon Diamond was my first game and up to recently I played every game as they came out, heck I got Legends as a gift seeing it released on my birthday. BUT, I kinda do see the problems with the games now, very clearly, and have made it to a point where I'd rather pick up a game like Astral Chain or Devil May Cry 5 where I would've bought another okay-ish Pokemon game.

The way that they are is Game Freak isn't giving time to develop proper games, Pokemon Company has severely merchandized the franchise, and hasn't given the spin off the same level of love that they used to before. It's not doom posting when despite enjoying the games regardless, everyone is literally feeling the same way. Legends needed time to breathe and we could've waited for another year on SV but TPC never saw that.
It's the reality with the franchise right now.

The Mystery Dungeon franchise was the biggest spin off for them during the 3rd to 6th gen. Explorers specifically was made with such care. Mystery Dungeon DX was amazing, but it didn't feel the same. New Pokemon Snap was great, but not much was promoted for it. You had the Colosseum games and Battle Revolution.
Nowadays you have mobile games which get fun but they're all built with gacha elements and don't feel as innovative as the past spin off. The last time they did that was Pokemon Duel and they removed that game off the Play Store
