    Thanks for posting. I had forgotten about the boot key lock!

    I will say this. DO NOT PUT YOUR KEY INTO THE IGNITION TO TRY AND START THE CAR AFTER OPENING THE CAR. The ignition lock mechanism is also electronic and will get your key stuck.

    Thanks Keli. I don't believe I knew about the boot key/lock. On a separate note, it seemed like my boot lid used to raise on its own when unlatch from the drivers seat. I replaced the gas pistons and lubed the hinge points but no improvement. Do you have any comments for me?

      I did not know that either until recently when I accidentally shut the boot after disconnecting the battery. I never paid attention to that lock.
      Your boot lid raised on its own? Is your car the estate variant?

      @@ThatAfricanGuy I don't know the answer to your question. My 2014 A6 boot lid raises on its own so I've assumed that my 2007 A6 operated similarly.

      @@dankenney5212 I meant do you have the A6 Avant as opposed to the A6 Sedan? 😅 Maybe that's just an option. Some cars are equipped with powerful latches that force the lid to open. Probably nothing to worry about... unless it annoys you.

      @@ThatAfricanGuy my car (2010 a6 sedan) also used to do open all the way up when it was new, but then it only opens partially , just like in the video, I guess the struts get weaker by age.

    I have the dead battery and locked out. I tried my key but my key won't turn. What do I do?

    • @ThatAfricanGuy

      Sorry about that. It is likely the lock cylinder is stuck because it hasn't been lubricated for a while. And if it is cold out there it will be even more difficult. You need to lubricate the lock cylinder. Watch this video to see how to do it and which lubricant to use: ua-cam.com/video/t4-_d799T3Q/v-deo.html

      This is for the C6 generation of Audi A6. Do you have a different vehicle?

    How should i open my audi s7 2020 hood if battery is dead

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  3 роки тому

      I don't know much about the 2020 Audi S7 but you should normally be able to use your key just like in this video to unlock the driver's door first. The lock cylinder could be covered by some plastic cover you may need to pop out to be able to insert the key.

    Lmao he said use the key and shows how to insert the key and open the door🤦‍♂️😂 no shit Sherlock... what if I don’t have that key..or the lock is broken or you don’t have the original key...ffs... o

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  2 роки тому

      Most people don't know they can use the key to unlock the driver's door and the trunk lid and they don't know they can also unlock the other doors from the inside with the battery dead. If you lost your original key and have no spare this video is not for you. Good luck.
