    🔥IMPORTANT UPDATE🔥 THE GH7 HAS NOT THE SAME SENSOR AS THE G9ii 🔥 MORE OBOUT THAT IN MY NEXT VIDEO🙌
    The GH7 is an awesome M43 camera! Maybe the best M43 camera available right now on the market! I even think it will be the M43 video centric camera of the year like it was the GH5 back in 2017! I'm just being a little picky for the reasons mentioned in this video. No hate, I actually love Lumix cameras and my GH5 ❤ Make sure to watch the whole review from Richard Wong on UA-cam! I also suggest you Gerald Undone and Geeky Nerdy Techy. Links to the related videos, in the description!

    I disregard the Arri Log C and 32 bit audio because those features are not even out of the box and cost extra or require extra device. I think this camera best serves those who want to upgrade from GH5 and require better autofocus or those looking for their first camera. I've been more into investing into other tools for better production like lights and some quality of life adapters and stands. I will most likely get the GH7 but most likely used when the price goes down. So probably 5-6 years from now 😁

    • @kenslyder
      @kenslyder  28 днів тому +3

      Yes I agree! This is very smart! I've bean investing in gears and more time in filming and learning instead of always trying to upgrade from camera to camera. This is why after the GH5 I was waiting before buying a new camera. And I'm still waiting while enjoying these camera releases every year on UA-cam and see how those hybrid cameras are getting better and better every year. 😊

    Hi from Spain, I am a filmmaker and journalist and I specialize in documentaries and reports for television and other platforms. Frankly, I am delighted with the GH5 and I am of the same opinion as you. It's a fantastic camera for this type of work. I complement the GH5 with the Blackmagic 4k and with the GH6 and excellent optics. I have more than twenty years of experience in the audiovisual world and autofocus has never been a problem for me. The culture of consumer capitalism is that you buy even if your equipment is still good. Enjoy the tools you have and take advantage of all their technical possibilities. The results with my cameras are incredible. Greetings.

      Thank you so much for providing me these information from an experienced film maker. Yes I believe that the GH5 is still overpowered for many people, even for myself after 7 years using it! And I'm sure I didn't even push this camera to the limit! The GH5 is fantastic when it comes to pure image quality!

    I'm using gh5 over 6 years. This is my first dslr camera, and first camera with rechangeble lenses. Last years and now my gh5 shooting medical content in other clinics and hospitals and MFT - best for it (for me)! - Low weight, - cheater focus distance, - quality of gh5 is very well for 2024. GH5s, GH5m2, Gh6 left too... And i was happy when OM-systems and lumix release MFT cameras with new AF systems (like Sony). And now, GH7.. m.b. we're waiting for.. more tests, more info.. New AF - top! More I.S. - nice! But, what about colors on gh5 vs gh7 - good fight? GH5m2 with new sensor win with new native ISO, but loose for gh5 with lovely colors of lumix. And.. "ARRI log", just new marketing for add money. I think after 1-2 years this profile will be like a gift on a sales and blackfridays. Thnx, fo reading and thnx for your videos! MFT - like metal.. life wiht fans and hasn't destroy! 📷
    P.S. Panasonic, come back to R.F., don't recive the politic games and wars. Photography and videography stay on highground with ART! 🐻

    I currently own the G85, GH5, and GH5s, and I use them for both professional and personal projects. The GH5 meets most of my needs, but I wish it had better autofocus. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the GH7 will address this issue. I rely on autofocus when I'm in front of the camera, and it's important that it doesn't hunt. I'm still exploring other reviews and options. I hope that one day Panasonic reaches out to you for a review, as I greatly value your opinion on GH5 cameras.

    Hey, my stance was similar, but I caved at g9m2. I’m thrilled about the g9m2, but I’m doubtful about the camera’s quality compared to the GH series. The materials are good, but there are moments when the camera lags! When you pressed the shutter on the GH5, it happened instantly, but not here!!! There’s a 1-3 second delay!!! I’m using an SD V90

    At first I'm interesting in G9II to be my next camera. But in my country the price is too high. And GH7 I think price will be more than G9II. But why they don't put “Dual Native ISO” like GH5s on GH7 that will be surprise more than this. 😂😂😂

    • @kenslyder
      @kenslyder  29 днів тому

      Yes right I didn't think about that. Dual Native ISO makes more sense on the M43 than RAW in my opinion. I mean, most people were asking for dual native ISO or build in ND. Who asked for internal RAW recording when you can do that externally with an external monitor. But you can't get dual native ISO?

    For many, the lack of record limits and no overheating the GH7 has will make it the choice over the G9II. I have not had a non-pocket Lumix camera fail, so you may wait a real long time for the GH5 to die. Thanks.

    • @kenslyder
      @kenslyder  28 днів тому +2

      Thank you too! It’s just sad that Lumix claims in their video: “with the GH7 we have improved the dynamic range” and not mention the G9ii that has the same. So it’s not really improved from the G9ii. They have improved over the GH6 but not over the G9ii. So most people owning the G9ii gets confused when they hear the GH7 has improved dynamic range all the times when in reality it’s equal. “marketing” If I have to choose between the G9ii and GH7 I would take the GH7 just to not have to deal with overheating.

    First you have to explain what you shoot and what you want from a camera. The G9II is targeted at photographers who hate fans, so this camera can not have unlimited recording. Hence they have the GH line of cameras targeting videographers who like unlimited recording without.
    I heard you want 14+ stops of dynamic range. This you will not find in cameras under the €6000. You have unrealistics expectation leading to frustration. 14"+ of stops are range of RED and ARRI.
    For instance RED Komodo X has
    SENSOR
    KOMODO-X™ 19.9MP Super 35mm Global Shutter CMOS
    EFFECTIVE PIXELS
    6144 × 3240
    SENSOR SIZE
    27.03mm x 14.26mm (Diagonal: 30.56mm)
    DYNAMIC RANGE
    16.5+ stops
    So what you need is a Komodo X costing above €6000.
    Lets be realistic here.
    Also the internal ND is not possible with current technology in mirrorless cameras that has a short flange range that is from 16mm (Nikon Z mount) to 20 mm (Canon RF and L-mount). Those cameras with internal ND are using longer flange ranges or have prices arount €10000.
    Lets be realistic here.

    • @kenslyder
      @kenslyder  28 днів тому

      Thank you very much for your professional input! Yes I know that that for a M43 system It's hard to get over 14+ stops of dynamic range... This is why I mentioned full frame cameras might be a better option for some people. You say that for a camera that is able to record 14+ stops you have to invest around 6000box when the Lumix S5ii FF cost around 1500 an it can handle 14+ stops. The Sony A7siii / FX3 handles 15+ stops at around 3500 - 4500 US dollars.

    I own the GH5 (bought in 2017), GH6 (bought in 2022) and G9II (bought in november). I was so impressed by the GH5 (and I'm still impressed today), but not really by the GH6 and G9II.
    The GH5 has still the best details in 4K, and even the Open Gate is the best on this camera, very organic look. The IBIS is still very good too.
    The DR is certainly not the best but I think 10/11 stop is still very good.
    I mostly use Cine-V and natural with this camera and while the shadows are noisy, the details are still excellent.
    The GH6 has brought better colors and tonality, USB charge, 5.7K and 4k120fps, but the 4K has some detail processing making the image rougher and the details softer in the same time. 5,7K is very close to the GH5 4K but the IBIS is worse than when using 4K, so what is the point ?
    Also something I have never understood is the people saying the AF of the GH6 is much better than the GH5, it is not true. First, the GH6 suffers for an out of focus bug in 4K/C4K/5,7K (with 95% of the lens I use) when using low frame rate (below 48fps) in AF-C. It makes the image so soft it looks worse than 1080P.
    Then, when using Open Gate, the GH6 pulses so much the footage is inuseable. The GH5 is much better, I use "1 zone" focus with speed at +5. I never had any issue when using this focus mode, the focus is very accurate and very fast, except in low contrast scene. The "tracking" mode of the GH6 is maybe faster than on the GH5, but I must prefer to use 1 zone and it always works much better than any focus mode on the GH6. The only modes where the GH6 AF-C is ok is when using 48/60/120fps, and yet, I sometimes have slightly focus accuracy issue when croping in my videos.
    The IBIS is sometimes better, sometimes worse than the GH5, depending of the lens I use.
    And some functions has been removed like I-dynamic, I-resolution etc.
    The DR is better than the GH5 only when using DR BOOST V-Log at ISO 2000 ...
    The G9II has in my opinion worse colors science than the GH6 (too bad the GH7 seems to have the same than the G9II), but the focus is faster than both the GH5 and GH6, but not so much faster than the GH5 when using 1 Zone, but I'd say it focus much more easily in low contrast scene or when using lenses producing very shallow DOF.
    However, I still have some focus accuracy issue on the G9II when using "old" lenses, sometimes nothing is in focus, even when using AF-S. Most lenses works very well though.
    The IBIS is the best of every cameras I have used (including S cameras, GH6 and GH5), I never use the EIS crop though, because image quality suffers too much. The DR is also very good most of the time.
    Image quality sometimes looks slightly worse than the GH6 in 5,7K when I pixel peep, sometimes some parts of the images seems not sharp while other parts looks very sharp. I suspect it is an issue with PDAF. But overall image quality and IBIS are very good in 5,7K.
    To come back to the GH7, for most people, it is more or less a G9II with better screen, a fan and Proresraw. I think the 4K quality will be to same level than the G9II. Proresraw will certainly remove the sharpness and NR processing but at what cost ? Huge files, more time to edit etc ... Sure Proresraw looks attractive, but I'm not sure most people will use it, by exemple on my GH6 I almost never use 5.7K Prores because H265 is as good most of the time.
    To compare, the OG S5 and S1 have no issue with sharpening and NR with their last firmware even in H264, they have the best details rendering I have seen.

      Hey bro,... How're you doing? Yesterday I looked into FUJIFILM and CANON cameras. Dude I was impressed when it comes to pure image quality! Skintones and everything just looked so crisp. I loved the FUJI more than canon from the colors. They have that film look straight ou of camera! The autofocus of FUJI isn't that great like canon though.... Look for the FUJI X-H2s and Canon R6m2 and let which you like the most if you can... The images looks much more organic. This isn't a good year for Lumix. greetings :)

    • @aiseurnae5976
      @aiseurnae5976 22 дні тому +1

      @@kenslyder You're right about Fuji colors, I also like them a lot.
      Back in 2014-2018 I was using Samsung NX with the NX1/NX500 and I just loved the colors (I still have these cameras). Nowadays the image is still so good and I prefer the output and colors compared to most of my Panasonic cameras (only my GH6 colors as almost as good). Also, some lenses like the tiny 45mm f.8 are still fantastic, the colors are out of this world, really.
      But these NX cameras have a lot, but I mean A LOT, of detail filtering, even at low ISO. They don't have IBIS and sadly Samsung stopped to produce NX products.
      I speak about NX because when I tried Fuji, I found the colors very similar to NX, much better than most Panasonic, Nikon or Sony products.
      But strangely, I found the same issue than on NX cameras with very high detail filtering, and the fact that the APS-C system was still a downgrade compared to my full frame cameras.
      And when I compared Fuji to M43 with my GH5, I found m43 had better IBIS, smaller lenses and much nicer detail rendering, and I was so much invested in M43 than I would'nt change to Fuji.
      But now, I sometimes think about Canon and Fuji, because since the GH6 I'm disappointed by Panasonic, sure the colors are great on the GH6, but the detail rendering is simply not as good as before in 4K, to get the same level of detail than the GH5, I must use 5,7K, the issue is the IBIS become worse than the GH5 in 4K in this mode.
      The G9II has better AF but the colors are worse than the GH6 ... And even if the IBIS is better than the GH6, there is still a drop in performance when using 5,7K and Open Gate.
      Same story with the S5II, in even worse, because even in 5,9K/6K/Open Gate the detail rendering is bad, too much sharpening and a very bad sharpening.
      And when I see the S9, with the same bad video engine, the same highlighted EIS function who destroy the image quality, I think Panasonic is really not what I search anymore.
      At the end of the day, I kept the GH5 because it has the best detail rendering in 4K and good IBIS, the GH6 for colors, the G9II for IBIS and AF, the S5 and S1 for the detail rendering and shallow DOF and the S5II for run and gun like the G9II but with more impressive output thanks to the shallow DOF.
      But I really think a camera like the Canon R5 could replace everything I have (maybe not my GH5 and GH6, I love them and I love some of my m43 lenses), because the colors are in my eyes slightly nicer than most Panasonic cameras, the IBIS seems almost as good and the internal raw must prevent any bad video processing.
      But I'm also heavily invested in Panasonic full frame, I have some lenses like the 24-70mm S Pro and 50mm S Pro that are just awesome, contrast, bokeh and sharpness are excellent. I'm not sure to find lenses as good on Canon.
      I didn't mention Sony, and yet I have the A7III and A7IV because while some lenses are great, I don't like them for video, the IBIS is ridiculous and Sony always used detail filtering and big sharpening (the sharpening not as bad as on the S5II though) in their cameras.

    GH7 is in fact a GH6ii or the camera the GH6 should have been.
    It's not really innovative, and at least they can have improved the body with two USB-c ports and 2 CF express card slot. Expecting Open Gate at 60p or something groundbraking.
