Now to the mystery of what to do about the screen that says "AF cannot be operated because [Custom Controls] is set"...
Where are you seeing this error? and at what point during the process?
Great video! Thanks. Do you have to save all the photos in your ipad? Can you use only previews?
The only time my images are saved on my ipad is if I click the download button on the image when viewing it, otherwise they are not stored on my device. Hope this helps.
@@NicoleBedardPhotography thanks! I will do that.
Hi, thank you for this video! I'm curious if the images save on camera as well, or just in the iPad? And then I'm also curious - usually I shoot tethered to Lightroom on my laptop, with a cord. Do you know if it's possible to also connect to the iPad simultaneously, for art directors/designers to handhold the iPad while styling, but still shoot into Lightroom/onto camera card/onto hard drive simultaneously? Thank you!
Hi thank you for your questions. The images save on your camera's memory card and are only being viewed via the app. So they are not being saved on the iPad (you can manually download an images if you like though) If you are tethered to Lightroom your camera will only be able to support that one connection. You wouldn't be able to have an art director view on the ipad while being tethered, but I love this idea :) Have a great future photo shoot!
That’s good to know. I was afraid of filling up my iPad memory.
Hello Nicole! Thanks for sharing this valuable information! Why does Canon Camera Connect require location access to use their app? Is it safe for the company to access my location, and why? 😊
Many times the location information can be part of your metadata on the image. You should be able go into settings for the app and remove the location.
Nice, Nicole. Did you experience any issues while recording a video?
At this time images are flowing to the iPad. The app need some upgrades but I'm happy to have the images flow
DO you know if this works in combination with using CaptureOne? With C1 I shoot directly on to my computer instead of to a memory card. But I would like to have an extra screen for clients to view during the shoot. I am on Canon R6 ;-)
Hi! The app capabilities are pretty limited. Are you tethering directly to your laptop? It could be worth a test to see if the app would still work while you are tethered.
It works resetting the set, my phone connects automatically which is the way it should with the iPad or laptop
Hi!! May I ask if you kept connected during the entire time, I have trouble with that. Usually the apps gets disconned after couple minutes and have to restart with the whole setting again and again. Do you have any recommendation please?
Hi! Most of the time the connection will stay but it's all dependent on other wifi's in the general area, if you turn off the camera to witch a lens, the connect will get lost. I have some sessions where it stays connected the entire time or others were it's just keep jumping off and just reconnect. The app definitely has flaws.
Hi Nicole, Great video, thank you. I still cannot connect though, my iPad keeps telling me it can't connect to the network (camera). It's showing my camera, but it says network unavailable. Any ideas?
Hi! My first step would be to check your firmware on your camera. Then try to connect to your iPad connection again. Let me know if it’s still an issue and I can troubleshoot again.
@@NicoleBedardPhotography Hi Nicole, Thank you for your response! The firmware is the latest version. My Ipad see's the camera, but it says no wifi?
@@nhrrman So I saw this yesterday when I was using this set up. For me, even though it was showing the "no connection" in yellow, I just went over to the app and it still worked. Have you tried going into the app regardless?
Hi Nicole, after much battle, I figured out my problem! It was my VPN! As soon as I disabled it, everything worked fine. I wasn’t even thinking about it. Thanks so much for your time and assistance. I’ve subbed to your channel, Best Regards, Craig
@@nhrrman3413 Hi! I'm so happy you figure it out and it's working. Thank you for the update
I got it to work one time, but after I shut off my camera and iPad I couldn’t get it to work again. Do we have to go through the whole process every time? It finally did say that it connected again, but it wouldn’t show the images on the camera, then I had to change my camera battery so lost it all again. I’d really like this to work. I had a mother with a daughter doing actor headshots and it would have been a great assist to that session.
Hi! The app can be finicky. If you turn your camera off or walk too far from the ipad the connection will be lost. You don't have to set everything up from scratch again, but you do have to establish the connection again. I had made this video to troubleshoot. I hope it helps! ua-cam.com/video/2CKaEKUVs9E/v-deo.htmlsi=CsPY5_-mpmb3B1rf
@@NicoleBedardPhotography thanks, I’ll watch it.
what about audio and video does it record and downlaod to you ipad?
Unfortunately the app only seems to support photos. No video or audio.
Thanks!
