Props to her for giving it a shot, have a feeling there ALOT of metal core bands she would actually like. metal head in the making for sure 🤘
Exactly, I don’t think any of us just jumped straight into deathcore. For me it was my parents music as a kid, like Van Halen and other 70s/80s rock, then I discovered Linkin Park in middle school, then in high school it was all the early 2000s post hardcore, and when I was in a bad mood it was Slipknot and BFMV. Then into my 20s was the 2010s metalcore, then eventually deathcore, and now I just listen to pretty much everything. It’s a journey to say the least! And everyone needs time to go on it.
Show her Nothing More and let her see the lyrics. That was kind of the step up for me from preferring clean vocals to really enjoying the screams, and the songs are emotionally packed. Once you get used to the higher screams mixed with the cleans, it's a lot easier to listen to the gutterals and the fries. At least that was my experience.
I can definitely see her as a metal fan in the future! Metal is an acquired taste for the majority of even the biggest fans. Bullet for my Valentine slipknot and arch enemy were my 3 main gateway bands. I still like all of those bands quite a bit
Post hardcore is a good shout. One post hard core band I could recommend would be Dream state and their early back catalogue is great for the gym got a good pace and vocals are mostly cleans and well placed heavys but not to heavy overall. And a little over 40 minutes to play it through, New stuff is slightly heavier though as they got a new singer from a more metal background that really leans into the heavys.

If you want to tech metal music to someone, I would recommend starting with symphonic metal or some metal genres close to it. For example, Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Apocalyptica. Then Metallica: Enter Sandman, Avenged Sevenfold: Hail to the King and Nightmare, Bee by Amorphis etc.
When I first heard some music with mostly screaming in it when I was 14 I hated it. I believe it was glass eater. I dipped my toes in with Chevelle, Silverstein, Senses Fail, Underoath, AFI etc… then I had some friends introduce me to random metal with breakdowns and it was so fun. From there I was able to get into deathcore/ death metal like As blood runs black, White Chapel, and suicide Silence. I always enjoyed pop punk the most as I was in high school in the late 2000’s so I ended settling on post hardcore/ metal core stuff as my favorite. Of Mice and Men, Beartooth, I See Stars, and Memphis Mayfire to name some. She just has to eased in slowly and shown a wide variety and she can pick what she really likes.

I'm a metalhead, but I don't even like AILD. Some people just have different tastes and preferences.
Well yeah no community is more divided haha. I don't even listen to them much anymore I'll listen to that album sometimes but for 2007 it was pretty great. I mean I was a freshman in high school. I was just surprised lol and for christian metal too@@I4Cofficial
Nothing Left is awesome
My go to for working out is malevolence, especially their self supremacy album, the lyrics and presentation makes you feel so strong
Nice! I'm a metalhead who loves country music as well. Also: Homegirl worked out more in that one week than I have in my entire life. 😳💪
Casey UK, Novelist (old vocal), oceans ate Alaska, dreamwake, parkway drive, currents... Raw metalcore
And it starts with Demon hunter 🤣. Good choice!
Going in hard with As I Lay Dying is a bold move. I usually start people out with Trivium or Bad Omens.
I'm a metal head who then developed chronic headaches so my taste within metal got a bit softer, but damn i miss how much a hard list would help me pump
Leg day pretty much demands a listen through Embodyment's Embrace the Eternal!
I love Morgan Wallen and Cody Johnson myself. I also love metal.
I wasn't officially a metalhead until hearing Demon Hunter. Awesome choice
Any form of workout or sport is better with metal. Lifelong Slayer fan here and it's on when I run and work out. Can't really listen to it in the gym when I'm at judo or muay thai class but everywhere else 🤘
I listen to a lot of country too...Never in the gym. Always metal. This also makes me want to go workout since I missed this morning's session.
A strong lady now got some strong tunes, as it should be! Good stuff💪
I used to be like her. I couldn’t understand metal until I forced myself to read the lyrics and give it a fair listen. But it wasn’t until I went to a show that I realized what I was missing. Get her to a Beartooth show.
I gladly listen this playlist forever. D
Much love for including Love and Death! ❤
Nothing beats "Tears 4 my gains" playlist.
Well thanks i found a new song out of this "misery by memphis may fire"
In my useless opinion Good gateway bands would be
Holding absence, as everything unfolds, electric callboy, dream state, sumo syco, soil, VUKOVI, I prevail most have some good well paced tracks good for the gym 😁
Primordial radio is good for a mixed bag of rock metal and beyond as its not all brutal but they do slip the heavy in as well its really broadened my listening.
Give her some While she sleeps, Architects and Imminence I bet she will like most of the songs. :-)
AS i Lay Dying Nothing Left is sooo fucking good. she will change her mind.
She"ll like blindspott from new Zealand 😊
The plan has been set in motion. Patience, my pretties. Patience...
I can’t go hard in the gym without metal. Everything else just doesn’t cut it.
