I’ve watched all these videos like 5 times within 2 weeks. This channel could be a TV show on television and I’d watch it all the time with you and Dylan
My dudes, that opening shot makes a Nat Geo documentary look like a messy pile of stock videos. I sincerely hope you two make it big one day because you consistently hit the perfect blend of relaxing nature, goofing around/fun, and serious challenges.
That transition around 14:40 was amazing. It brings in the stars & the universe, and a little rustic fire & shelter. If there's anything more natural than the stars at night, and a natural shelter, I'm not sure what that is.
When cutting dead branches from a living tree it should be done right at the point where the dead or dying branch forks off from the living branch or trunk. This is better for the tree's strength as it grows over the location of the cut. It also heals over more nicely.
Your vids are always so relaxing mate. I love how you incorporate the music but still have the natural sound of what your doing and the environment. This reminds me of my scouting days.. #Watching this at early 4 in the morning.
I love the contrast that this video has with your other solo trips, this one seemed so put together and you didn’t seem miserable the whole time. Definitely worth watching your development as a bushcraftsman
What fun! Haha, no doubt you're enjoying yourself! Doing things like this are the best. So calming. We've made lean-tos like this and tipis in the winter and slept in them at -20C, but haven't built a fire inside, just out in front. Birch bark works amazing for starting fires, and we have lots up here in snowy Northern Alberta. Lichen does seem to hold moisture, but's it's sure an incredible medicine! Thanks for the video!
Nice one Julius. I like that you showed some info about the lichen in a little textbox at the bottom. I say keep that in. Absolutely loved the opening shot. Great work ouwe, lekker gewerkt.
I enjoyed your video a lot. I am a bushcraft enthusiast at heart. I heard you say your feet were a bit cold throughout the night. One tip I use is, put your feet in cold river water for a couple of minutes. Then dry them off and put your footwear back on. They will stay warm all night.
Some advice from an old man who has built many fires in adverse conditions. When you first light it do not move it around or you will put it out. Get your match going and put it under your tinder and make sure your fire has both very small fuel like dry twigs as well as plenty of oxygen. Your videos are fantastic. I like the rustic ones especially your challenge vids.
It was nice relaxing , and I'm glad You got to build up the shelter a little more , any shelter with a fire inside it is good . Glad You talked about fire safety , Yeah I've seen those TV shows too :) Stay Safe Guys :)
This video is so needed I need it so much for my mental state of depression it's like the medicine I need I do appreciate your time and effort of doing the video going out camping editing is really nice thank you so much God bless you please keep up the good work. This is my medicine thank you
JM maybe it is trying to fill a void in you. We as human beings god created aren’t meant to love the lives we are. Hence why everyone is depressed. A lot of it is our phones and tv to begin with. Then pharma.
Hello Smooth! I really enjoy watching you guys and would love to join you on an adventure some time. Either here in Sweden or a location of your choice. I am a SERE survival instructor in the Swedish armed forces and also have a youtube outdoors channel. If you guys are interested in doing a collaboration trip or challenge let me know and we'll make it happen! 👊 Have a great weekend. //Adam
awesome! sweden is awesome and for sure wilder than ireland.. Might have to invite you over here tho and see can you stay a float with all the rain we are getting! hehe ;) Thanks alot Adam we'll be in touch;)
I did about 15 second of google fu and it looks like holly used to be protected in Ireland but now is only protected in certain circumstances. You can't cut it down near the roadside, for instance.
Juul, ouwe, did you do filmschool or something? That drone shot at the start was beautiful! As for fire safety, you could make an open-front version of that awesome oven in there man, for a long term scenario. Because it does kind of look like a tinderbundle.. Hell, scavenge some pipe from somewhere and give it a chimney:p
Julius, great video! You should work with SOL (Survive Outdoors Longer) to create an SOLL (SOL Longer) model of bivy for 2m tall people like yourself! ;)
@@Butane-lj6tr, this would make the fire safer inside the shelter, with far fewer sparks jumping about from a Dakota pit, setting the flames at a better distance from shelter walls, while warming the air and the ground inside well.
Nice video! Julius een tip: de kommentaren die je soms in een textblok tijdens de video laat zien, moeten langer verschijnen, want zo snel kan ik (en de meesten) niet lezen. Begrijp je?

You have to build one now!!!

love the nature they have access to, not to much where i am
Again a nice video

Always watch out with fire in your cabin. You do not smell fire in your sleep. And sometimes it may be too late to flee then.

This definitely gets into my top 5 vids. Excellent in every way. 😉😎😎

Great shelter but how do you keep from catching it on fire?
Ok! I'm really impressed with your efforts. A bit concerned about thefire but you managed it well. Tjanks Brian 79
Love the videos! Ireland looks beautiful it reminds me of here in Nova Scotia 🙂 keep the amazing content coming!!
this is a nice way of isolating from the coronavirus
Love your vids guys
The videos are really developing nicely! I've learned to be careful with fires in a closed shelter. How did I learn? The hard way.
Love the video! Nice to see you enjoying yourself :-)

Link to that cooking set?
Night sky at 14:50 is epic.
F yesss, I just love your videos !!
Great engineering
SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH gefixed jonge!!!
Great video, bro. 👍
How much did your titanium canteen set cost you Julius?
about 5 steel nalgene bottles hehe,... cheers. Dylan
Smooth Gefixt Dylan always has the best comments. On the solo trips Dylan should add voice over commentary.

Nice!
In welk bos is dit ? ziet er mooi uit daar
If using a paper match you can split it lengthwise and have two!
Have you ever had any problems with Bigfoot in the area? I hear they get pretty pissed when people encroach on their patch.
Great video. Too short. We want more😃

A Dakota fire pit inside the shelter could be much safer and more efficient.
But will it keep you warm?
@@Butane-lj6tr, this would make the fire safer inside the shelter, with far fewer sparks jumping about from a Dakota pit, setting the flames at a better distance from shelter walls, while warming the air and the ground inside well.
Intrestring! should really try out the dakota firepit! Thanks
Fire safety is important.
Noice video really enjoyed
Not too shabby
How did you avoid choking?
fire was next to opening and alot of little air gaps for smoke to escape;)
I like your beard julius but with it You Look like youve been siting in that shelter for weeks
When are you coming to the States?
Looks good with the beard

I thought you were going for a stone top to that fire pit...
well done man. How much has youtube helped you with your English? Because you seem to be getting better and better with it.
I had to screen shot some of the graphic for my screensaver on pc hope you dont mind 👍

Next - how to build a firepit inside a man size keg of gun poweder 😄👌
Great vid buddy 👍 what county are you in??
Ireland
Like them pants the full zipper really has to help putting them on and off when you dont need them
I like the beard julius
If you're in Ireland can you make that clearer? At least put it in the description, we could do with the promotion. Where in Ireland is that?
Fair point! Ireland, County Galway!
@@SmoothGefixt Nice great county, I live in the city. How many of your videos are set in Ireland?
