1/3 I remember in 1978 being a small boy (about 6) at a air show. We were standing as close to the runway as permitted. At that age Concorde was stuff every little boy dreamed of. We all wanted to grow up and be a Concorde pilot. Sitting on my dads shoulders i remember seeing her start the take off run, getting faster and closer to us with every second. Overwhelmed with excitement, pulse racing and fixated in magical wonder as she rotated right level of us. ......
I remember giving way to a Concorde at this very spot in the 90s. A real honour and not a waste of time at all. I don’t remember the tug though, I am probably mis remembering as I was so fixated with the majesty of the aeroplane.
@@mohammedrahman7921 I am afraid I don’t, I was parking but it has all changed now. I had a look on google earth and I didn’t recognise anything. Sorry.
It was Eastchurch Road - however it is now closed to the public. If you drop these coordinates into google maps you can see where I was standing, approximately: 51.473327, -0.427118
2/3 .....The noise was defining. I was yelling out but could not hear my voice. The air shook and the vibration went right through my body down to the bone. Memories of that childhood moment and the excitement it gave me has stayed with me always. Last year i was at Duxford looking at Concorde. Not far from me there was a father with a couple of kids about the age i was back in 1978. They were looking with.....
An airplane that never will be replace it, never forgot it and the only civil loved aircraft that fly inside our heart for more of two decades!, more important; never had mechanical fealure, the unique and only tragedy was caused by another airplane and the goverment that put the final mortal death to it, always in my memories; from Puerto Rico.
i wish this was still in service.i could not imagine being on a plane for over 10 hours to get somewhere when there was once a plane that could get you there in about 3..maybe one day it will be back in service and i will get to go to london...
Never. Because now thyve created the climate crisis thing. Its never coming back. If there is another such plane it will only be for politicians. Just watch.
The song is Aria by Yanni It was written for the British Airways ad (do a UA-cam search for 1989 British Airways Commercial to see it), and was inspired by French opera called Lakme by Leo Delibes. Album: Dare To Dream (1992)
No, not because it crashed at all - they spent a lot of money on an extensive successful return-to-service modification plan after the crash. The downturn in premium transatlantic business travel after 9/11 was the main reason, particularly fro Air France. BA may have got through that, but Airbus' withdrawal of the type certificate was the nail in the coffin.
You know what...my two greatest ambitions in life were: 1.) To meet Princess Diana in real life and 2.) Fly on Concorde. Sadly, those two dreams will never, ever come true for me now.
Anyone else spotted the registration code for the aircraft? Pity BA may not be with us much longer! (Just like the registration code!) I suspect someone with the initials RB is arranging finance to buy BA out!
Well the crash was because the tyre burst on take off and a large piece hit the fuel tank in simple terms so alot of money had to be done on basically redesigning the plane such as making it have thicker tyres stronger fuel tanks e.t.c. and it got to the stage of being far too expensive to maintain as passenger numbers were falluing aswell.
2 of them ... since forgot the tail numbers had them shortened by 6 inches perminantly for storage concerns its sad because its denied flight basically, like what you do to a bird ... yes ok exaggeration, but it probably deserves it
3/3 ...interest and it made me feel a little sad for them. They were just looking at a lifeless exhibit and I thought...your never going to see it alive, hear that noise, feel that vibration or experience for yourselves what it was that blew apart the mind of that little 6 year old boy all those years ago. Sod the expense of it. Few thing have captured the imagination like this aircraft. There were other options on the table that would have kept this dream alive. Instead they let it die.
You'd rather listen to buses rumbling past and wind blowing on the mic? Anyway, the music was British Airways' signature music for years - so don't you look a proper tool! ua-cam.com/video/RVi6GgQBkwE/v-deo.html
I remember clicking this video 11 years ago and have been looking for it since. Finally found it again
Funnily enough I've just done exactly the same. UA-cam was in its infancy back then.
Thank you both for coming back for another look!
Lovely...thank you...I had the pleasure of working on Concorde for 7 years.....many happy memories...

I LOVED THIS PLAIN, I WAS A VERY HAPPY PUSH OUT TUG DRIVER FOR THIS PLAIN. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN AND BEING PAID TO DO A JOB I LOVED, SHE WAS A GIFT.

I would have loved to have flown on and experienced this Aircraft!
It was great to fly on
BOAC - British Overseas Airways Corporation, as I remember it, was THE world's favourite airline!
Also happens to be why G-BOAC was the flagship, shes also known as alpha charlie
I saw this clip in 2008 loved it, have been searching since 2008 and finally today i found it lol :)

@hzhenrik Thanks for persevering! Glad you enjoyed it!
a BA Concorde and 747 side by side. Possibly the best image in the world
The death of this jet didn't have to happen
Yes it can taxi, but with the fuel consumption it is much cheaper to be towed to position.
thank you for putting this here

agree, same here....
Remember when we were lucky enough to get stopped by it's crossing I'd stick my head out the sunroof screaming "Concorde" ha!
I would have expected a 2 hour wait for concorde to get on the other side of the road. Still it is the fastest supersonic jet in the world.
nice video!!
Thanks for your memories
bommmmmmmm!
@Supersonic72 Wow; that's a remarkable coincidence! I bet you had a flight of a lifetime. I know I did when I flew G-BOAD.
Ver Cool - thanks for posting!
she's beautiful.
Like 285. Esse avião nunca deveria parar de voar. É o mais belo de todos aviões.
Wicked vid shame to see concsorde go. She was awsome..That looks pretty cool concorde driving down a road!
I miss them 😢

so pleased that i flew on the old girl once ... LHR-JFK BA001 in 1999 ... bye bye "rocket"
2 people disliked this video ! -_-' ?
Probably fans of Easy Jet and Ryan Air
😆
I went on BA001 in 1998 - my 40th birthday
several of the concorde that were shipped around to be turned into exhibits, had their wings clipped because of size issues
Thank you yobeakay!

It is shit that this machine don't fly anymore.

@SHUKLAPATELA To be fair, Air France flew Concordes as well.
what a lovley site
The company that used to make Concordes was Airbus
Art!

@applesky007 Thanks applesky007!

No it was british aerospace and aerospatle
Such a feet of enginering , Its beautiful......

It still happens, they have just closed that road off to traffic and pedestrians.
@roryj123ok That WAS after 9/11!

why is it being towed? cant it taxi
Can't across a road it would seem
SPECIAL. you're easily aroused. A "SPECIAL aircraft".
ok thanx
what is the name of the song on this vid
It's an arrangement of 'The Flower Duet' from "Lakme' " by Delibes
@WiiForever302 Well yeah
because it crashed.
In the last few seconds we see South African Airways in the corner.
dear santa..
Me too
Music is stolen from Lakmé (Delibes)
NOT STOLEN...borrowed...as did Yanni for his Acropolis video/show..
what's wrong with that?....
commercial aircraft
nice aircraft, but not a good airway!!!
yeah, just an aircraft. not a time machine, you dipstick.
а наши тушки 144 порезали все!
Why put music into such a beautiful video? Why did you ruin it? That music is DISGUSTING!
excuse me you rude man....THIS MUSIC OF YANNI'S IS MAGNIFICENT.....

Tilan123
Silly boy !! You should learn your history ,British Airways used this piece of Classical music for many years on their TV adverts
a bit overrated really. it's only an aircraft.
