    Thank you for a good tutorial. Vast majority of houdini tutorials dont even explain why they do anything so you dont actually end up learning anything.

    Very easy to follow tutorial, I'm a complete beginner in houdini. I've been learning 3D software for the past 3 years and Houdini is definitely one of the the worst for lack of good tutorials in my opinion. You have a good voice and pace for this, please keep making more. You'll get a larger following in no time.

    Thanks for fixing the audio man, It would be great if you can cover more of the new stuff that came with Houdini17. Thanks for putting your time and making free tutorials, really appreciate it.

    Thanks so much for the tutorial! Very much appreciated! But i noticed when i tried to kill the particles with POP Kill, it doesn't seem to work with a vellum solver, only a pop solver. Any way to kill the vellum particles? Thanks!

    Hey! Great tutorial! You mentioned default thickness having to be the same as grain size, did I hear correctly? for stability. I did that, but my particles are still unstable. I do other scene like this,but needing particles to be contained and released first in the container, then moving particles with other object. Please let me know if you ever had the solution! thank you! : Did you experience a stubborn flicker in Vellum grains? Even if it's a tiny bit of flicker, after instancing to more reflective shapes for glitter, it does go insane. I tried to do many things (including more release particles time (coming from RealFlow I understand this shall be the same since I want to start with stable released particles container then move particles from within out with an object, and the first stage is to apply gravity and allow particles to settle, let me know if you know a better way to do it (AND INITIAL STATE, is it possible in Houdini?) I made default thickness same as source grain size as I found info that sometimes makes things unstable, substeps ofc, then tried to apply sleeping but couldn't find proper settings so it either freezes up fully or still flicker a bit, but little do I know, going through some search I saw some notes of vellum being unstable compared to POP, so I feel like trying to do the same simulation in POP grains instead for stability, merely being afraid to waste time which I don't have much for this scene anymore. Did anyone solve that issue?

    How would i render this out in redshift in cinema 4d with motion blur?

    • @BloomGlare
      @BloomGlare  3 роки тому

      I believe you would simply export the points as an alembic file including vel and then use vel to drive the motion blur in c4d. If you need more help with that just shoot me an email at bloomandglare@gmail.com

  • @bhushankandalkar3104

    Great tutorial man!!! How do we export vellum grains to c4d? I did but cant see the grains in the render view window

    • @BloomGlare
      @BloomGlare  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the kind words. I believe you should be able to export the points via an alembic file and then you can instance geometry to points at roughly the same size as the grains in houdini. You should be able to access attributes such as Cd for your color and v for velocity for motion blur, etc. Let me know how you go!

    Thanks for the tutorial man. I tried importing an alembic animation and tried this with it but sadly it(the particle setup) wasn't interacting/colliding with the alembic geometry. Let me know what I'm doing wrong. lol

      try dropping a convert node just after your alembic import node.

    Hi, I had a problem with the sim. When I press play, grain become black boxes. Looking for some help, It can be fixed if you press D -> Geometry Tab -> Particles -> Uncheck Display Sprites. However, now I see little points, and cannot see the Grain Size in a correct way. Sometimes it works perfectly, but the grains are flickering, alterning black boxes and the right look. Does anybody knows something about that? =(

    • @BloomGlare
      @BloomGlare  2 роки тому +1

      Hey - are there a lot of particles in your setup? It's almost definitely a ram or viewport issue. You can change the settings for memory usage by hitting D as you mentioned for display settings. If it is a ram or graphics issue try to update drivers and restart or alternatively if the display memory settings don't work I'd just use the 'thickness' vellum visualizer to show what the pscale looks like.

    • @trololoxperience6942
      @trololoxperience6942 2 роки тому

      Thanks! I am learning vellum for very first time and I didn't come up with the 'thickness visualization' idea. Have no idea why it happens. I did rapid rivers on my last work and everything gone well with millions and millions of particles. Anyway I appreciate your help! If I know how to solve it I'll post it here!
