On my car you'd have a hard time pushing the button on the inner door face of the same door with a coat hanger. Easier to use a rod to push across to the other door.
They did that because that technique dont work.....think about it you are pulling the string on both ends trying to work that loop over the lock or what ever it's called well anyway as your setting it the loop is getting smaller by the time you get it in position the loop is probably to small and if you get it in place it's just going to slip up with out unlocking the door

No the video specifically states it's your own car, you obviously need to show the small strand of rope some sort of ownership document for it to cooperate and open your car
Daniel Laurentiu 100% sure. As I said most new modern cars don't have those buttons (my VW doesn't). Secondly the string won't unlock the steering lock. Thirdly the string does t have a chip embedded in it that has to match the one in the car. I'm not saying cars can't be stolen - even modern ones. But not like this. I'm guessing this is in the USA - where cars are not as modern as the rest of the world. Most car thefts on modern cars are done by cloning the signal when a car is opened and started. A simple thing to do - apart from the recording device has to be close to the chip embedded on the key - 10m (approx). However, many manufacturers have chips that auto flip the code at random and after a random number of lock/unlock cycles. So, in summary - the string don't work on well designed vehicles ;-)
I think professional car thieves generally use a "slim-jim" and an ignition punch to beat most car locks. As far as alarms, I'm not sure how they would do that. But, they obviously have a method that works because shitloads of cars get stolen in the U.S. every day. A good thief can get away with your wheels in a minute or less.
for a very well designed vehicle the thief wil have a lot of trouble trying to steal it, but what about a cheaper vehicle or if the thief is so damn good, what can you do? maybe install a gps tracker and just in case you can have it hidden.
At the end of the day, if someone wants you car, they would use physical means a car lift and truck - then worry about security devices fitted - similar to the way thieves steal whole ATM's, using plant equipment.
For those wondering. This does work as long as you have the knob on top of your door. I've used this method myself. One tip. Your not likely to have twine. Shoelaces work also.

I think the rubber seals in the door would give you a hard time doing this. Also I imagine it would hard to keep that loop in the string from closing while pulling the string down to the lock rod.
Ive used this method countless times and its easy. If you stand back and try to figure out all these reasons it wont work when you could have already done it and had your door unlocked.

Ok. Great idea but how do you unlock a vehical with automatic locks.
You take a bath towel and a pretty heavy rock, next you place the towel on a window of your car, and you break the glass with the rock
+Kwada If you ever have to break a car window use something closer to a sparkplug fragment or another type of hard ceramic by throwing it at the window as hard as you can. 1 gram of ceramic is better than a 1 lb stone. I wouldn't recommend it unless you a) own the car or b) are in the process of saving someone's life.

It's cool but only works if your door has these types of locks. All of mine are down by the door handle itself. Good method though

Well, a really stupid preroll ad blocked the rest of the video becaue that is just how well designed UA-cam is.
You might have to adjust the size of the loop depending on the thickness of the door so it catches the lock peg.
