Those are nice backpacks and if I didn't already have one I would be trying to buy one from that company since I am a retired veteran and like supporting other veterans.
I love you and your total ethics.... but I’m still going to say that my old long back, ... is still the best system that any Bush crafter/ survivalist could ever want/need ! I’ve been deployed and I honestly know what it’s like to have to use my kit under pressure!!! Not just in a camping situation !! ..... great video as always... best wishes all 👌🏽😎👍🏽👍🏽🏴🏴
I have the original Rucker in 20l, a GR-1 in 26l, and i got a Rucker 2.0 during their Christmas in July sale. Their products are built tough. I use either the GR-1 or the new Rucker as my edc along with a 30lb ruck plate.
I bought a 25L Rucker early this summer. I have a 30lb plat in the main pocket and a 10lb in the second pocket. It's been a solid pack so far. Money well spent.
Thank u very much for this video I love Go-Ruck bags. I have been dying to grab one of these. I'm a huge military grade backpack fan. I live in NYC and hike a lot. I think the GR2 would be perfect for me. I'm 6'4" and would grab the 40 liter. I still haven't been able to set aside money for one but I definitely will be next year. But I have been using the London bridge trading three day assault pack for about 3 years now and it's an affordable alternative. The black green and darker grey are made of 1000D nylon. And the bag is extremely comfortable. No laptop sleeve just two compartments no organization. I just use two pouches to organize and keep it moving. And use the same bag for day hikes or overnighter.
Look like some nice packs Dave. Thanks for sharing! I would like to see some heavy duty loops sewn onto the bottom for strapping a bedroll on though...
Sewing needle/stitching awl and thread can make that happen. Lol I've taken a 5 11 bail out bag and added pockets and a sleave for a ferro with clipped flap on it. Sewing is easy once you get the hang out it. And no pack is going to fit every person's needs.
Your right about upgrading over time. I started with Jansport and various off brands. Over the years, as I could afford it, I moved up to Duluth and Maxpedition. You don’t have to start with the latest and greatest. My first mess setup came from the second hand store. An old pressed steel frying pan and a small aluminum coffee percolater. $5
The GoRuck packs look like excellent gear. They appear to have all the qualities I look for simplicity, versatility, and ruggedness. Unfortunately, they are expensive enough, even with the military discount, that I can't justify spending the money without identifying a specific need. The equipment I already have is currently "good enough." But on the GoRuck site, they indicated that some of their production will be moving to Vietnam to reduce prices. For now, I'll do my rucking with an old Alice pack and dumbells.
I'll never get the "common man" excuse for not owning good gear in a world where folks regularly spend more money on one night buying drinks in a bar and not bat an eyelash, but if you talk about buying a pack that will last you for hundreds if not thousands of miles (or days) that will actually contribute to your health & well being and they pucker. #Priorities
This is something I love about dave he will purchase things and test it if he likes it then he will approach the company before ever bringing it to us. He test things throughly before he will ever recommend them. Thanks dave for putting in the work and spending your money so we don’t have too. I myself would like to see some options that are cheaper that are good maybe not the best top of the line but will last in time. I know you normally do this in the common man things. I mean when you show us a 300 dollar option in the same video so a 50 dollar that will work almost as well. Keep it up dave you alone got me back into the outdoors.
Just an FYI, Goruck is moving manufacturing to Vietnam. Doesn’t mean quality will go down, but if folks are looking to buy American, won’t be them anymore.
@@DavidCanterbury , Doesn't matter anyway... Vietnam is one of the few countries where they still teach "how to sew" in the schools. Nothing useful here, however... the Dems have gutted our school systems.
Some will be made overseas at a lower cost and then some will be made in the US at their normal price. Both the U.S. And Vietnam models will have life time SCARS warranty.
Thanks Dave for the wonderful review, made in the USA, Veteran owned company, looks like something I should save up for, have a awesome weekend, take care and God bless you and your Family always. 🇺🇸🔥☕️👼🏻
IMHO The packs are missing some important features. They need molle webbing from top to bottom on the front and sides as well as the bottom. And they have no compression straps.
If you have a 5.11 rush pack and it works for you, then stick with it. Personally I have packs from both Goruck and 5.11, and I prefer the Goruck, interestingly as I find it to be more versatile. The 5.11 Rush72 I have feels over specialized. It has a number of specialist pouches - like and admin pouch with places for maps and pens/pencils, and one for your sunglasses. That's great and all if that's what you need, but what if you don't need to carry maps/pens/pencils/sunglasses? Sure, they can be pressed into service for other things, but they feel a little odd when you do. They also have with MOLLE on top, which sucks as if you add pouches onto the MOLLE, you have pouches on top of pouches, which I find doesn't work as the whole lot becomes unstable. It feels like its there for looks. My 72 is also the older model, where you have to release the comressions straps to get into the pack, which makes the whole lot collapse open. The Goruck GR1 and GR2 I have have only the one pouch on the outside - that one with the slanted zip. It's very generic, as are all of the other pouches on the inside on the pack. Insead of pouches on the outside, you have the MOLLE platform to add whatever pouches you need. Want 4 nalgene bottles on there? Go for it. 2 nalgene's and 6 mags? Yep. Admin panel? Sure. Don't want pouches on the outside? You can do that too. The MOLLE panel on the inside gives you the ability to add extra pouches for internal gear management if required, such as when you carry lots of little things that like to end up in the bottom of the pack. This is where I find the Goruck to be more versatile. This is just my personal opinion
To bad their moving production to Vietnam according to their website, so much for American made, supporting local economy. as far as your comment of no American made pack being as good as this, Red Oxx bags, made in Montana, lifetime warranty no matter what, I have two bags from them going on 10+ years on the flying boxcar and about 8 years on their mini ruck, I would put Red Oxx's quality and guarantee against any bag.
Goruck did recently released a message saying that they feel that they've been branded an elitist backpack due to the price and that they are going to start making them overseas to reduce cost and then pass it on to the consumer
buy cheap, buy twice...with the cheap crap out there pulling the bottom dollar, a lot of people will purchase cheap and keep buying new ones when it fails.
It would be nice if their price wasn’t so premium after moving production overseas.
The Rucker is their only bag made overseas right now. It's about $90 cheaper than the Rucker I got that was US made.
Nothing beats an Army ALICE pack! I’ve owned many packs but I always circle back to my Alice packs.
Those are nice backpacks and if I didn't already have one I would be trying to buy one from that company since I am a retired veteran and like supporting other veterans.

Not ALL manufacuring
David Canterbury thank you for clearing that up for me. 🇺🇸🔥☕️ God bless you and your Family always.
Why would I ever need a weight plate, I just carry all my EDC and bushcraft stuff in the backpack. Weighs heaps. :)
IMHO The packs are missing some important features. They need molle webbing from top to bottom on the front and sides as well as the bottom. And they have no compression straps.
much easier to travel with than swags and (more suitcases).thanks heaps for coming to oz .your welcome back any time.
I love to travel with my GR2. Great product.
common man doesn't mean lack of common sense -David Canterbury I agree buy once cry once
I have a lot of Goruck gear - it's all first rate.
Good Review! I am Retired and travel, great info for this old guy👍🏼

The problem with Goruck for me, is it all looks so good, but I need to put it on my back before I shell out the $300.. IMHO

Can all these come with the waste belt and chest strap ?
Common man, Common sense! Well said Dave! Love me some GORUCK.
PROVISION Handmade Gear by cheap, by twice. 👍
Miss your long hair Dave!
You read my mind with this review
Great video man
Will prices go down for the foreign made stuff or am I now having to pay $400 for a pack from Asia?
The Rucker is their only bag made overseas right now. It's about $90 cheaper ($175) than the Rucker I got that was US made.

I read somewhere the prices will go down to the prices before the price jump awhile back.
Dave, you look fantastic!
