The GR1 was the bag started it all for GORUCK. They set out to build a rucksack with life or death quality standards that would thrive in Baghdad and NYC, and show people of all walks of life how to operate smartly and safely in some of the harshest environments. It quickly won the hearts and minds of Special Forces soldiers, rucking enthusiasts, and EDC gear heads alike with its infamously bombproof, made-in-USA construction.

I’ve used my GR1 every single day for the past 9 years. It’s been all over the world, in the ocean, on the beach, through multiple GORUCK events, and I still love to use it every single time. It functions as well as the day I got it. It’s got a bit more “character” now, but otherwise it’s the best bag I’ve ever owned.

My GR2 34L is still going strong, as well as my GR1 26L, and so many others. Solid bags. Simple, and just workhorses. Love the 210D backing and Quick Access Pockets on the newer gens.

I’ve had my GR1 for about 9 years. GORUCK events, EDC, work bag, international and domestic travel.. It’s done it all, very well. I’ve acquired several GORUCK products since then, including other backpacks. They’re all great, but there’s something about that first one…

i wish there was a small zip on the front of pack above the slanted zip and the velcro where you could just toss you keys or something you need to be able to access quickly and often. i have a 5.11 rush 12 and its got that and it is my favorite feature of that pack. i love the look of the gr1 but without something like i feel like ill stick with my rush 12.

My favorite thing about my GR1 is those shoulder straps.

Same, I have many and tried many packs, Goruck’s shoulder strap suits me the best, I can never get on with MR’s straps even though many loves it.

I really love goruck! I have a gr1 26l slick from you guys and I love it! I had the 21l but wanted to have more space and the 26l is perfect for everything to edc and travel! All I wish they changed for the gr1 is a better breathable back,, the front pocket so that you can access it when it’s packed out and of course a QAP!! STILL I really do love the bag and I’m really happy knowing the bags gonna last

I love my GR1, finally. I have the accessories I need for my everyday use (mostly a work bag). I wish the bag had an optional keyring lanyard. I would have paid the upcharge.

Love this brand. When are we going to see a return of heritage dark oak and slate? You have to know they are the highly sought after colorways!

Looks like we don't have any updates from our end for those color options, sadly. We'll put in a good word for ya to see if we can bring them back

I would prefer it opened from the back. Keeps the shoulder straps cleaner from mud, debris, etc. Would still function as you showcased. Nice product overall still 🙂

considering "Goruck would not exist without the GR1" it would be nice if they focused on actually stocking their core products (and in the original colorways) and focused less on the other rubbish!

Which GR1 has the top hidden pocket below the handle? Is it just the 26L or does the 21L have it as well?

I am 5'8 and have the bullet love it but the straps are to short. Is there a way to get longer straps? I would consider getting the GR1 26L so you can have longer straps.

Good question! The GR1 does not have the ruck plate pocket like the Rucker, but it does have an elastic sleeve capable of holding their ruck plates. It can definitely handle a 45 lb plate
