- Milkyway had some hair loss issue and was taken to see a vet. She was quite scared over anything during the visit. The procedure should be just slightly uncomfortable but doesn't hurt....

because I haven’t seen any comments about it yet; the vet seems to be collecting a skin scrape sample. they use a blade to scrape the skin to analyze under a microscope. it is uncomfortable, ends up a tiny bit bloody, but it’s necessary to diagnose skin conditions. it’s not exactly painful, but not comfortable either. this little piggie is just trying to communicate that she doesn’t like what’s going on, but now she’s on the road to recovery thanks to this vet! 😊
Piggie with skin condition needs different bedding. I never used store boughten bedding of any kind, it all itch my Bella so much. I used thick heavy fleece blankets in the winter. I made one layer for the whole bottom of the cage & made sleeping bags with the rest of the blanket. Thicker bags for winter & thinner for Summer. I took out the thin layer from the bottom of cage every two days & replaced with new layer. Every week I washed everything & started a new week with clean supplies. I had my Skinny pig, Bella for just short of 6 years. I took her out every morning & she scream at the top of her lungs until breakfast was in front of her. I cuddled her & held her a lot. When the weather was perfect I would take her with me in a pouch. She loved to go places with me. I miss her so much. Sorry guys, I’m just sad today.

So quick little story here. Ok so one time we were getting my guinea pig an mange shot at the vet. The vet was holding him on the other side of the table. When she gave him the shot he started freaking out, understandably. My arms were resting on the table and when the vet let my pig go, he ran over to me and wedged himself under my arms. And I was thinking wow you really do love me. This video just reminded me of that time.
Similar thing happened with my bunny, she got a shot and leapt into my step dads arms
My rat did the same thing after a vet gave him his ear infection meds for the first time lol

Very cute!!! They can scream much, MUCH louder. My neighbour's dog got into our yard when we had our beloved pet guinea pig on the grass in a wire pen with roof. The dog pushed the cage over and got the guinea pig. I was upstairs in the house when I heard the loud, high-pitched screaming. I actually said, "That's a bird in distress," and looked out the window. Seeing the dog and the upturned cage, I knew it wasn't a BIRD in distress and ran down, yelling at the dog, which ran off. I don't know what it did to our little fella, but I got to him just in time to see him take his last two breaths. My son was 12 at the time. I told him when he came home from school, and he BAWLED his eyes out.
Hopefully the neighbor was repentant. Worst thing about dogs is dog owners...

After having a guinea pig for a long time, I recognize the “I’m uncomfortable” squeaks vs the “gimme food” squeaks, so the video just puts me on edge.
Don't worry the desc says that the procedure was only slightly uncomfortable so I think maybe the pig could be over reacting
I grew up on my grandma’s ranch and she had hundreds of these cuties, they do tend to exaggerate and the noise is completely normal. Now of course as for this little one, he/she is obviously expressing his/her stress.
As a person who had multiple piggys as a kid I felt a need to save and coddle it until it stopped making that noise so it’s happy again
As a guinea pig owner, they make extremely loud noises to communicate at any time, not just if they are in pain. Using whistles they talk and even “dance” from happiness.

We used to have piggies about 4 years ago (we rescued them from a neglectful owner in our neigbbourhood who left them outside in a filthy hutch with no food or water during winter) and my very motherly dog grew very fond of them, treating them like they were her puppies. She loved those piggies so much and we never had to worry about her harming them. We no longer have any guinea pigs, but my dog apparently has not forgotten about them as she ran into my bedroom with the most worried expression when I played this on my phone without headphones. All she needs is the sound of their wheeking and she'll come running, ready to comfort her babies ♡

Our piggies don't like being held very much either. It's sad, but we love them just the same. Ours are rescues from someone who let her pigs breed out of control, so maybe they were not properly cared for before we got them.

My 4th grade teacher had two of these and they did this all the time. We’d be learning about Native Americans like good children and be interrupted by a duet of ungodly screeching.
That's actually pretty bad way to give a class. Kids could develop selective noise and can cause them to completely lose all focus and become very easily frustrated and emotionally sensitive.

@@townzgl7289 I've known guinea pigs to cuddle and be affectionate! It takes a lot of time spent together, patience and building up of trust. They're skiddish of people because we're so massive, but they can definitely be socialized to get over those nervous feelings.

Its true, that sometimes they don't know were helping them and they think that we are harming them because their normal response to pain is fear. But sometimes they do realize that we are helping them and they put up with the procedure

@Turquoise Cheetah i'm very Sorry to hear that but i can guarantee my vet truly loves Animals. He visited my Guinea pigs many times, gave me tips, cured them from small flus and he Is even cheap. He refuses Money if it's Just a routine control and the animal Is fine

Awe my little sisters piggy has gotten so used to us handling him that he usually just lets us do things like cut his nails and clean any messes on him without protest, he get little head scritches and runs away and come straight back for food lol

@Caesar Australis they’re slightly different. The scared/pain sound is loud and high pitched, and food wheeking sounds more like “OOO-WEE!”

@Reinhardt 's Dick Im pretty sure shes getting samples from a fungal infection and typically you do that by scraping bits of skin off with a blade, so yes there is pain.
@@griffin1182 No there isn't pain, literally says so in the description and that he was scared over anything.
@@RaoulRamsaran i use to work in a vet clinic, it's literally scraping fungal samples with a blade. The area of infection is usually tender and a bother for animals, hence the use of an e collar after treatment or ointment that deters them. In lots of cases like these you end up scraping so much it bleeds.

Yep. My baby is no longer with us, but whenever he was just terrible when it came to food. We could try and sneak by, but he'd always hear us. He'd come running out and sit by our feet, until we gave him something. He was just so cute

My mom's guinea pig actually never makes that sound. He's a quiet dude, only really makes a light squeak when he really wants some parsley. I'm so used to guinea pigs making quite a ruckus so it's different, but he seems pretty happy, and it's quieter so no one's really complaining about it :)
