That's great! The first tricks are always the hardest. I find that most guinea pigs seem to really love doing the spin trick too. 😂

Thank you to you and Ace for opening my eyes. I had no idea guinea pigs were so smart. The ones my family had long ago excelled in being cute, and enjoying sitting in Mom's lap while wrapped in a towel for the inevitable accidents, but that was about it. Who knows what they might have learned if they'd been given a chance?

Teach them to run up stairs or if you dont have stairs get a little ramp. I took a cucumber and my gp followed it up the stairs to teach him.
He/she is desperately hoping and waiting for you to create a challenge that he/she can learn and beat!
They are smart little fur balls. Take some time and see if you can figure out how to make it understand how to do one of the tricks in the video!

lilstarfishdude Thank you so much! My guinea pig is real old though. Whenever I get her out she does absolutely nothing. She won’t even walk around when she’s on the ground. Do you think she could be blind? I really want her to be more active.

She/he replied to someone's excited and happy comment about the Guinea pig and his/her comment was said in a way so as to take the wind out of her 'happy sails' so to speak. The kind of person who can't just sit back, keep their mouth shut, and let someone be happy about something. That's exactly what I meant when I said he or she was one of them.

Those are all great tricks but I'm more impressed that he did them without making one pellet. That's a lot of activity and exercise in a short time without pooping. Bravo!

They’re really not if you wanna keep them right. They don’t cost much when you get them(15-25 bucks), but all the stuff you need for the cage and eventual vet costs are really expensive in the long run. We spent far more money on our guinea pigs than on our dog who has severe allergies and needs special food. Also, you should keep at least two guinea pigs because they are social animals and don’t have the capacity to see a human as an adequate replacement like a dog would. Unlike with birds who usually work best in couples, for guinea pigs it’s better to get two females, as males even when neutered will be very demanding of the females’ attention which will get very tiring for the females if there aren’t enough of them to split the male’s attention. They also get way older than most people expect for such a small critter, five years was the average, but we also had one grow over seven years old(we didn’t have her exact age, but she was an adult when we got her and had her for seven years) and a guinea pig UA-camr I know had a female named Tiramisu who grew over ten years old. Guinea pigs are really adorable, but they’re not to be underestimated when it comes to the work you need to put into them.

Yes small animals are so smart, much smarter than people give them credit for or expect. My rabbit knows basic commands and is litter trained, and my friends rats are little genuises.
