I've used those basing kits before and was always a bit disappointed by how flat the details looked but that marbling MASSIVELY improves them. I think that the extra surface detail counteracts the flatter looking parts and makes them look much more interesting. Great job and good luck with getting the rest of the models painted up before the weekend, looking forward to seeing everything pull together.

Definitely looking forward to the tutorial version of painting marble. With particular reference to the marble floors in the Azyerite Townscape ruins. Thank you.
Have you considered lace? I've seen it used on cars in the past, they lay the lace over the surface to be painted and then airbrush over the top. Whatever pattern is on the lace gets transfered in silhouette onto the surface. You could get some amazing results on bases. I can't wait to get my airbrush, roll on my birthday on the 13th of next month 🥳
Wow, great new technique! You could also play around with the idea of having one metallic vein on each base, they also might do really well if you added something glowing for a cool lighting effect, and use the dark blue color of the base as an underpaint for the shadows on your army.
You could drybrush, apply wash with an airbrush then lift it back up with isopropyl to highlight. You have to be gentle because the isopropyl can eat through the base color too but it gives a mottled look that can add some tonal contrast into the highlights.
If you want to mix up a nice Lupercal Green substitute, you can make a mix of Kantor Blue and Caliban Green to get a slightly more muted, but more opaque color
Possible color suggestions for future marble tutorials: - Black base with green streaking - Red base with white streaking - Exploring how to control the level and detail of streaking
@@ArtisOpus Some of us never quite left the phase of liking the rocks we picked up at the park, and now I am burdened with rock knowledge. Also, crazy suggestion that bears no resemblance to reality, granite with a black field/patches, with full RGB streaks. Just think it might look neat.

Did you have any difficulty peeling the masking material off ? When I was experimenting, I had a case of it peeling the underlying paint off in one or two cases. Any idea how to prevent that from happening ?
Absolutely man, sounds like you maybe got them too 'wet', if there's enough moisture to cause a bond between the fibres and the base you'll get these issues, more, thin layers and you should be fine.
