  • The DIY Sprinter Van Conversion continues! We are plumbing for water in this video by installing a stainless steel sink in the van. This sink installation had one hiccup, that was the shallow depth of the countertop caused a slight interference with the frame of the cabinet. To solve this issue we simply added another layer of oak around the perimeter of the cut-out. Wood filler closed any small gaps and polyurethane sealed everything right up! The effect this created actually looks pretty neat, it makes it feel like the sink is deeper and the countertop is thicker.
We have been very happy with the functionality of this stainless steel sink. After Using it for about a year, it has held up well and been very easy to clean. The faucet is very convenient being able to swivel around and reach the far corner of the sink!

Appreciate the production quality of this video - refreshing to see a job complete without someone rambling on & on, and also that your music selection was neutral (aka, not death metal or country, haha).
How has the sink held up through bumps in the road?

The links for what you used either didn’t get there or aged out. I’m curious what size potable water tank you went with?

If I remember correctly it is a small 20 gallon tank.

may i ask what fittings you used. did you have to get a reducer fitting to match the faucet pipe to the pipes youve used throughout the van coming out of the pump/compressor? TIA!

We used PEX and PEX fittings throughout the van for water supply. If you go to your local big box store you can find all the fittings you would need. The drain was a flexible drain pipe we ran straight outside. I hope that helps.

I think we linked to the sink below the video... but I forget. I’m not sure what is cheap from your perspective but we were really happy looking at “bar sinks” or “prep sinks”. They tend to be smaller and cheaper... I believe ours was a Houzer CS-1307-1 purchased off amazon for $87. In my opinion not the cheapest sink but definitely nice and very functional. There are other options/sizes on amazon that are less pricey. I hope that helps and best of luck!
