  • *** I would like to point out two corrections:
3:20 - the braided vinyl tube was actually used directly before and after the pump. It goes from tank to pump and from pump to accumulator... the braided line allowed us to avoid using 90 degree elbows on the input and output of the pump which provides better flow!
4:50 - vent cap always stays off, a short section of clear braided tube was installed to allow venting/constant tank equalization
Sorry for the mistakes... this was filmed a long time ago right after we did the plumbing system!
Just talking over some of the details of the plumbing in our DIY Sprinter Van Conversion. We ultimately ended up using crimp on PEX tubing which is rated at 200 PSI and is the surest way to avoid any leaks whatsoever.
We initially tried using vinyl braided tubing but opted away from it because of the lack of parts available. We did wind up keeping the braided vinyl tubing in two places (the video says one); that is right before and right after the pump. It allowed us to install tubing to the pump without having a right angle connection on the input or output of the pump.
The plumbing system in the van conversion has operated exactly as expected and been very great to have on the road! Hopefully this helps put the plumbing system a little further into perspective should you choose to build out a van conversion!!!
