That blue on blue strap Seiko, wow. I'm not a watch aficionado, far from it. I used to be a wearable user (Fitbit, Pebble Classic, Asus Zenwatch, Samsung Gear S2) but I got fed up with decreasing battery life, confused industry path, and awfully expensive to replace the devices. I was browsing around and by accident I found out about Seiko 5 and I see a beautifully designed and made watch that costs a fraction of the wearables I bought, really something that threw me off. I'm going to buy that blue on blue combo, thanks for the video, you got a subscriber.

Well, I have to jump some hoops to buy it. That blue SNKL07 only available from Singapore and the Bradystrap is from US. I try to avoid importing stuff as our custom is notoriously bad... But that blue combo... Gosh... Probably worth the hassle. I'd probably go buy available Seiko 5 locally and order the blue combo for my Father's birthday gift.

I agree, it's beautiful, I really love that shade of blue and it's so nice when the color of the strap emphasizes and matches with the dial. I also love a bit brighter royal blue, saw a very nice one (2206-0490) on Ebay. My mother's Seiko 5 2206 (which became mine) is fully silver, even the dial), that's a nice one too.

This is what I learnt from this video. When playing with my nubby nub, I must stick it in the hole and tug it back, and when it gets sticky, give it a wipe of justice. Got it. 😁👍🏻

JaCk No the bracelets are actually cheaply made that’s why many get a leather strap and leather never needs to be replaced it looks better the older it gets

Curt, you should be doing more watches-straps combinations videos. I find this video an extremely good and useful reference especially when one may think about buying a watch and wonders what strap would best fit.

Don't feel bad about buying the same watch! I've done that too! Early in my watch collecting 'career', I developed a taste for Tag Heuer (and Heuer pre Tag ones too!). Fleabay before snipe programs was easy for many of us to buy things at a discount by manual sniping, and sometimes a price was just too good to pass up. I did the same; I put a different snazzy Monaco style band and rose gold bezel on my duplicate 2000 Exclusive black face series and it looked like a very different watch!

Was fortunate to get a SNKK11 for under 60 usd, tried on the default bracelet that came with it and it didn't feel great. Remembered this video and opted for a blue leather strap.

Wow, impressive. I am also a watch collector, and have several Seiko watches. But I don't have any Seiko 5's because I never liked their cheap metal bands. Now that I know how good the Seiko 5's look on a nice leather strap, think I'll get me one soon. They're very affordable for an automatic watch. Good watch videos here, thanks for making them.

Seiko 5 has such a great value for money. Such a lot of bang per buck. Throw a couple hundred dollars on my seiko sarz003, and change its strap (due to cheap feel like bracelet), and it easily becomes my favorite watch. Forget the Swiss brand, this is the watch, you can mix and match and it will make you feel amazed on how many possibilities and good combination you can make, without breaking your piggy bank.

how to make seiko upgrade that old non handwinding movement would put a smile on my face. Even my $60 Vostok Amphibia handwind.
Well better is a matter of personal preference. I can understand wanting to mod a Seiko 5, especially replacing that Hardplex mineral glass crystal with a sapphire crystal but, if you're going to make it noticebly not a Seiko why not just build a bespoke watch from a Seiko NH35 or NH36 mechanism or even one of the Swiss ETA mechanisms. Suitable cases and crystals are easy to aquire and you can have dial faces custom printed. You could engrave your name and manufacture date on the caseback and give it a serial number of 1 or follow the old Seiko tradition of envofing the date of manufacture into the furst few characters of the serisl number and then have the last four numbers be the unique number for the month's production. Basically, if you're going to mod it, you might as well just custom build it altogether.
I agree with Michael, that blue strap Seiko is "wow". Does Hadley Roma make a blue leather strap and would you recommend it. The Bradley strap is gorgeous but like you I have a small wrist and the HR should fit me better.Thanks for your help!

There are all kinds of sizes. Short, Standard and XL. The actual sizes between the three fluctuate between manufacturers. There's no actual standard as far as I know. I get quite frustrated by this!
*that's why NATOs tend to be good, cause they're usually a fairly standard length and that's easily adjustable cause they have lots of holes. Leather NATOs look nice imo

Fantastic review! Quick question, regarding the Seiko SNKK87 (which I plan to get). I'd like to swap out the bracelet for a leather strap too, but just wanted to confirm the right size. The specs say it's got 18mm wide lugs, but it seems you put a 20mm leather strap on. Just want to confirm if a 20mm will fit it? Many thanks !

I always thought that Seiko 5s had crown at 4 o clock which I really didn't quite fancy. Crowns at 3 o clock really appeals more to me. Are those Seiko 5s still available ?

Oh man I love gas gas'. I have a KX125 with a 144 bore for my mixed gas smellin' addiction but alas, no two stroke motorcycles can be made street legal here. I've tried it. This is why I want to move to Utah where my Daisy Chain is :D
get a used gas gas with registartion from another state and transfer to your state
That doesn't work unless you know someone in the DMV and I don't besides I am going to do something better. I am going to move and you can probably guess where :p My WRR here at home is more than enough fun for me and gets 70mpg. I'll ship it up there to meet her sister and also build myself a sweet dual-sported two strokey.
