Well the cat technically still lies. There are multiple forms of lying with the most well known being when someone tells informed they know to be false. Another for of lying is lying by omission, leaving out important information a details in order to deceive.
I haven't been into RWBY for a while, but I love the Kyuubey vibes that the cat is giving. That simple "You didn't ask." That's a chef's kiss right there.
Yeah but the cat wasnt being outright malicious and seemed alittle saddened by the end of the episode when he realised he had possibly led louis to his death and the whole using people for their information and not liking being used for his information, i just hope he doesnt become a bad guy

There's so much to the story, take a look jaune becoming the rusted knight and how many years for him, curious cat knows what it is, but it's just asking the right questions
Honestly his Purpose(if I understand right) to guide those in the Ever-After to Ascension/The Tree, and with the whole you have to sacrifice someone to the tree to escape, it is technically fulfilling his purpose

The one who wrote it is Alyx's brother Lewis, He returned to remnant while his sister is trapped in ever after. The reason for it is that Lewis knows who he is and stays true to his desire all the while his sister isn't. Alyx was selfish, cunning and just literally a bad egg but it became worse when they met the herbalist, her desire didn't align with who she is and the tree didn't accept it. She became more petty when Lewis was taken and returned to remnant by the tree while she wasn't.
So you’re implying ascension means to leave the place. But those who fail to ascend become corrupted in a way. Example being alyx could very well be the jabberwalker or at least her desires incarnate? But I feel like that doesn’t make sense. Alyx left as the book implies but Alyx’s brother Lewis did not. Wouldn’t it make more sense for the tree to absorb the memories of Lewis turning him into the Jabberwalker because Alyx had to make a sacrifice to leave which was her brother. We know Alyx wasn’t exactly a good person throughout the story and judging from the reaction of people when humans are mentioned it would seem Alyx did some pretty horrible stuff to get her end goal.

The curious cat said it already, he doesn't know what happened to Alyx and Lewis when they were about to leave ever after due to the fact that Alyx betrayed him in the last minute of them leaving

Those weird pitched triplets notes that play after Blake says “Yea” really plays on the mysterious and ominous tone that start to be built when everyone just tries to understand what makes jaune so angry at the cat. Little musical details like these have always been my favorite things about atmosphere in both shows and gaming

I lost touch with the presentation of entertainment to audience (mwah) due to too much spoilers and reddit bashing and infighting among fans about this and that. Politics sux. I lost to my personal experience of the wonder and awe of the medium of episodes, due to bad friends. It's nice to be back in fantasy, and not have reality trolls nit-pick it wasn't real. Reality sux dude just enjoy the show for what it is worth.
