Okay…But have they even TRIED just bringing out a big ole steam roller and rolling the lava smooth before it cools all the way? Like, re-paving the whole lot without having to pay for asphalt.

I’m familiar with volcanic rock and the islands of the Bahamas.
My impression is it’s rather brittle, unstable so how do you build on top of it?
Never thought about cleaning it up……
What , just jack hammer and haul? How else could you …..
Not much grows on it in the Bahamas so I’d imagine it’s a permanent land change even Mother Nature struggles with.
If left alone is it just a barren wasteland for centuries?
      Teach me something.

The lava can actually cool and form water rivers, and the rivers that flow through that old lava End up being filtered by the rocks, and safe to drink. Hope you learned something!

At the end, it's steam, not smoke. But the compilation of the material is very good. For the first time, it gives a good overview of what is happening. It is crazy how short the days currently are in Iceland. I would live in depression for months...
