Timelapse decreasing Arctic Sea Ice Extent 1979-2024
The sea ice area for the Arctic shows near-record minimums since 2002. The timelapses show the areas for each month relative to the median extent (purple line). The median extent is based on the period 1981-2010. The recent years represent a unique event because they show a year-to-year persistence of minimum ice extents. Sea ice area is now significantly below the level of the 1980s and earlier.
There are two timelapses in the video. One is sequential in time with the end of the month as a the image included. It shows very well the natural flow in ice extent on the Northern Hemisphere.
The Second one shows from 1979 till 2024 every month. You can compare for yourself how every end of the month differs.
All images come from the NOAA and are public domain.

Wrap up (and mapping) of the 7th Sundhnúk Eruption in Iceland (Threatening the Blue Lagoon)
Переглядів 29921 день тому
Made a Wrap up (summary) of the 7th Eruption. I can do all 7 eruptions and more elaborate if there is interest for it. Please let me know. On the Night from the 20th November to 21st of November at 23:14 a fissure opened around the spot as earlier eruptions. The main lava flow was North-east and West. No indications of lava towards Grindavik These pictures from just after the start show the lin...

Last Night there was a wall collapse which made the lava flow turn towards the North. Still no danger for infrastructure. Made a drawing to show the growth of the Cone since the start. Deformation data show that there is a balance between the flow of magma into the collection area under Svartsengi and the flow of magma to the surface from the active crater. I will do some mappings on the lava flows the coming days. The eruption on the Sundhnúks crater series has continued with constant activity during the night, just like in the past few days, and there are little changes in the eruption turbulence. The lava flow from the active crater is now mostly southeast to Fagradalsfjall. Next movie i will do an map update and a compare between the 2021 erup...

A timelapse from de vedur.is webcam together with a map of the lava field. Also some Landsat (satellite) images showing the field. Probably the last timelapse of this 7th eruption. The eruption has continued with equal force for the last solar cycle. Gosórói (north vent) has remained stable for the past 24 hours and the lava flow from the crater is flowing east towards Fagradalsfjall. With decr...

The power has been lost in the eruption. These timelapses show the development of the 3 vents From yesterday evening, the eruption turbulence and visible activity of the eruption decreased further, but the activity then stabilized again after midnight. However, there is still considerable force in the eruption and the activity has not decreased as quickly as in previous eruptions in the Sundhnú...

Great webcam view from a hill south of the Blue Lagoon. Different pats compiled to one movie. The images of the car park being swallowed by the lava are in the movie. While the workers are building on the defences the lava is flowing some 30 meters from them. And the cooling of the lava is also visible. It should be noted that, despite the decreasing activity in the craters, lava flows can stil...

@@volcanotimelapses8311 I’m familiar with volcanic rock and the islands of the Bahamas. My impression is it’s rather brittle, unstable so how do you build on top of it? Never thought about cleaning it up…… What , just jack hammer and haul? How else could you ….. Not much grows on it in the Bahamas so I’d imagine it’s a permanent land change even Mother Nature struggles with. If left alone is it just a barren wasteland for centuries? Teach me something.

The lava can actually cool and form water rivers, and the rivers that flow through that old lava End up being filtered by the rocks, and safe to drink. Hope you learned something!
