Fantastic video Bruno. I'm just growing a beard for the first time at 60. I know..sounds odd but I've always had a job in the military and then Law Enforcement which restricted me from doing so. I'm at seven weeks now and am loving it. Your style of beard is exactly what I'm shooting for. Wish me luck, and I look forward to viewing all your posts. God Bless, Billy Mike

Oh I absolutely loved everything you’ve said, regarding cutting the sides of the beard to make it look sleek and long. I, with no prior knowledge, was always against the idea of cut-trimming it, so naturally I agree with you. Everything else you’ve said is equally great. Thanks for the tips and you have a great beard and mustache by the way.
I love the concept of long beards, and I support you for your goal of reaching the third button of the shirt 👍🏻

Hey man love the vid and the beard. I’ve been so tempted to just cut my beard back real short because it is so scraggly looking. I have a fairly long beard but the hair is thin. I’ve never fixed it shaped it or put anything in it. Mainly because I’m clueless but today I decided to check out some videos and your popped up. I wish there was away I could send you a photo and get some pointers but I will continue to watch the videos. Thx for taking the time to help us out

At 2:53.. loved that! I joke that that "this is my comb..." and raise my right hand, "and this is my brush!".. and raise my left. For real- I'm a 45-yr old woman, don't own a comb or brush, am super low-maintenance in the personal grooming department. I do all my hair styling with my fingers, rarely use product in my hair, wear makeup (above and beyond facial moisturizer and lip balm) maybe once/month and that's usually just eyeliner.

Thank you very much for this. I have developed my approach learning primarily from The Beard Baron, and Eric Bandholz, and you. I don't use a hair dryer, and for some months now have trimmed only the hairs growing into my upper lip. The past week or so I've used a bit of Castor Oil as you suggested for a thin spot, then Natural Man beard oil, Murray's Beeswax, and Layrite Cement. I had made the same mistakes you showed; now my beard is abour 4.5 inches and I think the 0.25 inch surface combing will help a lot. Should I work VO5 into this routine? Change it in any way?
Your information, advice, and demonstration is simple, clear, and useful. Greatly appreciated. Thank you for sharing your professionalism.

Dude, amazing. My beard is honestly quite messed up. My first several jobs when I was 17-24, they all required clean shaven daily. So, I had to shave daily and I had no clue how to do it properly. I used cappy shaving cream and terrible 5 bladed cartridge razors that just pulled and scrapped my skin and hair. My skin and beard hair got so messed up from it, along with a sleeping on my left side constantly haha. I grew it out and saw how messed up one side was vs the other. My mustache area looks weird and grows oddly. I've been practicing with a hollow ground straight razor when I need to shave. It's tough, but it doesn't mess up my face as bad at all. I also don't have to shave all the time now. I wish I knew all this stuff before haha

    • @ListenMySon
      @ListenMySon  8 років тому +2

I like them best to spread beard oil from root to end. The other great thing is that they create great tension when you want to straighten your beard. Remember HEAT + TENSION = STRAIGHT HAIR. Now that my heard is white, it is straight all by itself. But for darker curly hair, a boar bristle brush is invaluable for a straighter sleeker longer appearance. Hope that helps. Cheers!

Great video. I was wondering if I should trim the sides but I like your view on this matter. But I must say your beard is very nice even unplugged. Do you have advice to straighten a curly beard ? I try to straighten it a bit with my fingers gently while drying it with the hairdryer. I was thinking it would be more effective than after it is dry but I may be wrong. Anyway I think this problem will be solved with time and lenght. Also should I trim mustache hairs when they realy tend to go out of the shape ? Thank you, peace.

    Hi Bruno,
I really love your videos.I was wondering if you can give me advice on beard washing since I workout 5 times a week, and I just rince it with water and wash it with beard soap once a week.Should I wash my beard with soap more often since I have some beard dandruff and I take real good care of my beard and I use premium beard oil twice a day.
    Thanks in advance.

Do you have a video on how to deal with a wiry beard? I've wanted to grow my beard out but it is very wiry and kind of curly and not what I want. I don't know if it tends to straighten with age or what but any tips to help correct the issue would be greatly appreciated!

Any advice for someone like me? I have a majorly black beard . Fine hair with a bit of blonde, gray, & red. My stache though is mainly a firm course blonde that doesn't want to work with any product I use. Got any tips, or do I just learn to live it?

What I'd like to know is how to properly point a longer beard George. Say like Gandalf in Lord of the Rings as an example. How about a tutorial on that what cutting is needed etc etc if any.

Looks great, George! My husband's beard is curly. Have you done any videos addressing the care and grooming of a curly beard to which you can direct me? If not, will you do such a video? Pretty please? :D

Thanks for the tip! I wish I watched this yesterday. Last night I trimmed the sides/temples just as you described not to. Would these tips be any different for black men? While my chin hair is more straight, the hair on the sides are super curly and tends to make my beard more wide.

+Vaughn Sanders Mine do too. If it get longer than an inch it begins to remind me of a peyot.

+Vaughn Sanders I shape the beards of all hair types. I find that the s-curl can be tight or loose. If it's tight, then I tend to shape it like the great r&b singers of the 60's and 70's. Teddy Pendergrass or Marvin Gaye, who I think have magnificent tight curl beards. I will pick it out rather than comb or brush it out. I find it true that amongst older black men, like my beard, have straighter beard hair. It seems that the lack of pigment in grayer hair, makes it straighter.

Hi George, I was wondering if you have any recommendations for a beard trimmer in Northern NJ ? , I would really like to start to shape my beard, but I am reluctant to just walk in to an unknown shop. Do you ever have occasion to come to NNJ?Thanks

Beard oil is for the skin, not the whiskers. You need to apply it with your finger tips to the skin where your whiskers meet your face. Whiskers act like a wick in a lamp, they draw essential oils away from the skin out. This creates drying, flaking and itching. The beard oil lessens this. A good beard butter is added after, such as you applied the oil.

Man, if you were walking by the American Kennel Club dog show in NYC or Philadelphia or something, the people and the judges would probably stare, point, and follow you, and want to give you some kind of award.
