lol she didn't want him...everyone that knows about Calvin knows this...Calvin could have had it way better than most monkeys who got abandoned by their mother...but he like most infant monkeys got gluttonous and would not adjust to the rules. It's obvious he also is a few cards short of a full deck.
Calvin being a newborn that had no insight that he was abandoned by his birth mother and was picked up by Cassie…went with instinct to grab on and nurse. Calvin was hungry, wanted security and comfort. Calvin did not have an alternative. He went with instinct. Calvin was not provided with a rules list at birth.
@madisonjones0209 Actually they are expected to learn their place rather quickly. Rather we like it or not; understand it or not. Trying to make excuses doesn't excuse the rules. This is the animal kingdom. They don't have the luxury of time to learn like human babies.
This is one of the best showdowns between Casi and Calvin. This is how we know dumbo ears "knew better". Casi warns him to stop that annoying rooting. He stops and begins rooting again, and hone in on her back and shoulder, of all places. This launches Casi into outerspace and she tears into him, literally. That branch was both his thorn in his flesh, and his retreat from Casi's wrath. He doesnt care because he's hanging there requiring him to not be lazy and use his energy. So he throws a tantrum even though he just got reprimanded harshly, for his disobedience. He knew he just did not care. We all know where that led him, too.
Calvin not only wants milk, he wants to be the only child of Casi, even though he is an adoptee. He wants, and tries his hardest to drink all the milk that Casi makes and to keep Celine out of the loop. Calvin pushes Celine out of the way, even when she is sleeping. Calvin helps himself, and drinks all of Celine’s milk. Calvin is the worst of the worst as far as adoptees go. He fights really hard to stay on the teat, and thinks Celine is getting something he is not, so he never leaves.
@@teresacastro1263 and Casi was also a victim!!! It is not in her wild nature to care for what isn’t hers, so blaming her is toxic victim blaming behavior
What people don’t know is that Cassie had been feeding him the entire day before this video was taken. Celine had not eaten much at all. Calvin was on the nipple all day long. The way he’s acting you think he hadn’t had milk for three days straight. He was so greedy and aggressive with Celine. It was horrifying. She could not act like a baby monkey at all… She could not explore she could not have any fun. She was so worried about her mouth being stolen by that goblin… And she should have been because he was stealing it. Cassie finally got fed up and said no more and he couldn’t handle it. He was such a burden and pain in the ass. Thank God she finally smartened up and dumped him once and for all.
100% he was constantly nursing and not only nursing, but able to nurse in peace something he never allowed Celine to do but people only saw what they wanted to when it came to Calvin. It’s still frustrates me.
These baby monkeys are no bigger than a soda can. Their tummy’s are no bigger than a dime and is why they ALL suckle A LOT after birth. Calvin didn’t want anything more than what every other baby monkey wants/needs. Casi had no instinctual responsibility for Calvin whatsoever and he’s extremely lucky to of gotten the milk he did from her. She starved him since the day he was born… he never had food security nor enough food for growth (mentally nor physically). He was weak because of this reason too (him not walking, exploring etc). Calvin’s main objective, when he was with Casi and not Chiko, was to eat and he fought for every drop of milk he got. I despise the little gremlin but he was just trying to survive. . . Just like every other being on this planet.
I love these minute long beatens of Calvin. It just increases his stress and hunger. If he squeals and pulls for the milk bar he will get painful beatings, pulling and beatings. But, he can't override his milk bar cravings.
Throw him out of the tree already. A mother know when it's time to bow out especially when it's depriving her real good. She wasn't meant to save him. I don't think anyone was. Something is very wrong with him!!
Lol there has been interference thru the whole thing, Calvin was thrust onto that mom and then he had to fight for food, and lost while everyone hated him for a situation that was not his fault.
1:19 I always wondered what set her off in this video but if you look closely and it’s only for a split second, he jumps at her that’s what set her off And that was some of the problem. Most people failed to realize if they watched a little closer they may have just realized Casi’s actions were actually reactions to something. Calvin had done, but people only saw what they wanted to when it came to Calvin.
Casi was a good mom. Calvin's mom Crystal dropped him as a baby because mom macques can tell when the baby has issues and will not be able to develop in a way that allows them to maintain themselves after weaning. Casi was trying to save his life. Except male macaques are aggressive when nursing they push/pull at the mom and any natural baby equal to Celine. for the first day Calvin was glued to Casi's teet. celine could get in to nurse herself. so Casi took things in a different direction. That's nature in the wild.
Yep, they’re born with the instinct to grab automatically and terrified of everything, hence the fear of being abandoned. They’d literally rather be abused to death rather than be left alone. 🤣
No absolutely rubbish. What a dirty thing with no self respect unwanted rat, he is just forcing himself on life, but life don't want him. Casi not beaten him enough. Dee must took him instead of chikoo. That would be fun. Anyways, this is fun too watch him hanging, and his face dead afraid.
All the Calvin crazies that said he was starving.. And that Cassi was not feeding him. The actions of Calvin in this video ..Are not that of a starving Animal!!!
That's right. Calvin has tons of energy and of course for that you need food, nourishment, milk. There literally is physically no other way. He was getting something all along. I think because Casi gave birth to a female (Celine) and not a male, her milk did not produce the proper nutrients that is required for male babies. He would of needed twice as much. Casi physically had no way of giving Calvin what he needed. He needed a mother that gave birth to a male. However, Calvin was getting something, he had way too much energy. His downfall didn't begin until chiko started grabbing him for longer periods of time til Casi refused to take him back. That's what all these pro Calvin people wanted anyway. That's what caused his death.

You don't see this species of animal giving milk up freely to any of these monkeys, even ones that are babysitting, they don't sit there and get all the milk they want, so why is this situation about Calvin making CASI the sole evil?? She went above and BEYOND
From what part ,your so pathetic, these little one still had its umbilical cord attached, so why was it he,s fault ,he only saw her as his mother,GEEZ PEACE ARE HEARTLESS.
@@jimfox9951d no he was with Chico when he died, Cassi abandoned him after he started fighting her real baby to nurse and Cassi said no that's not the way it's going to happen, she left him in a field and Chico grabbed him. He never figured anything out because all he wanted to do was nurse Casi tried teaching him Casi constantly gave him warning shots now He just never learned know whether that’s because something was wrong with him or he just didn’t care I don’t know but either way the outcome is the same

I think Calvin was born with birth defects. He didn't freak out like the other babys. He doesn't freak out when Casi is beating him up. She smells him and looks away. She should of never of been given the burden of Calvin. Maybe he should of went to a real monkey sanctuary where he could of gotten the help he needed and possibly a foster momma
@@angelasmith3750 Tudom, csúnyán hangzik, de szerintem az embereknek ott kellett volna hagyni, ahol Calvint az anyja ledobta. Az anyja megérezte, hogy Calvin erőtlen, és nem életképes. @angelasmith3750 U must have forgotten this was at the start of a global pandemic. Thousands were severely affected. Sanctuaries were affected, too. In a third world country, an overpopulated animal isn't a priority on a good day. It's not as simple as making a call to come save the destitute animals.
@starblossom1370 come to think about it it was. Oh my bad. Still I felt sorry for baby Calvin! Especially with all the Calvin haters out there. They acted like Calvin was this diabolical lil monkey, who was plotting against Casi and her baby. When in actuality he just was trying to survive. The Vos should of left well enough alone. What that lil monkey had to endure because of his birth defects.
@@angelasmith3750 True..but let's be real.. not many people can just see a newly born infant on yhe ground abandoned and not do anything. To just let it lay there for certain demise seems cruel. They just tried to reunite him with mom thinking it was best. They didn't know that mom would reject him again & run away. Nor did they forsee Casi running up to take him a minute later. So they decided to just let it play out however. What else could they do? It's either be with his troupe in the wild (where he belongs). Or become a dependent pet that could possibly get dumped later when the " baby cuteness" wears off & wildlife kicks in. He needed his mom or a sanctuary. He was doomed without those options. I can't blame a vo for not taking in a wild & potentially dangerous animal. That's illegal and illogical. One has to be trained to deal with wildlife. And also have resources for the medical support, specialized diet, large enclosure for nature & safety, etc. Monkeys are unruly , untamed, ungrateful, unpredictable, time consuming, carrier of diseases, too much for most people. . It's not like bringing a puppy or kitten home.
OMG!! Calvin is just disgusting! Even after many warnings, he refused to mind Casi. He continued with his ROOTING around on Casi and poor Celine. He was determined to break their peaceful existence as much as possible! After that final ass whipping, Casi was DONE! And I don't blame her! Calvin new is place but he refused to accept it and he refused to respect Casi.
No. They DO NOT have to root. Celine didn't do it when it was Calvin's time to nurse. He surely DID NOT pull that crap on the old male monkey. He did not root around on Chiko. And other babies, if there mother feels that they have nursed enough, will remove them from the teet and they don't do that. And if they do, they get disciplined and stop. Calvin meant that baby Celine was not going to nurse in peace. He wanted ALL the milk ALL the time. He knew exactly 💯 what he was doing and didn't care. I am thankful 🙏 for ❤️ baby Celine's sake that Casi finally kicked him out and the nest. He was abusive to baby Celine and would even fight back with Casi. Casi tried to help him but he wanted Celine out of the way and that was absolutely NEVER going to happen.
There's nothing wrong he was a hybrid that's why the mom didn't want him. Now he did Saul from a high tree maybe hit his head that could have cost a lot of his problems maybe to vos didn't realize it
@@Nancy-qp6vq Oh for f*cks sake. 🤦🏻♀️ I am so over seeing certain people go on about how they're rejected by their mother because they're a hybrid and are therefore unrecognizable. That argument is legitimately one of the most ignorant, nonsensical arguments ever made about why a mother macaque rejects her offspring. I've seen the same thing be said about Rozy and her hybrid that she rejected as well and it's just so godd*mn asinine. Their physical appearance literally has NOTHING to do with it. Hybrids are regularly born and raised amongst these troops. There are even hybrids who have went on to have offspring of their own so no, whether or not it's a hybrid is totally irrelevant. Calvin was likely rejected for the same exact reason that Rozy's hybrid was rejected. Both were mentally impaired and these mother macaques know if they've birthed a defect or not. Rozy's hybrid couldn't even nurse do to the odd tongue movement it made whilst in contact with milk which is why it's lifespan was 16 to 17 days shorter than Calvin's. Nature is cruel, but it is what it is. Only the strong survive.
Nope, just an aggressive, greedy and demanding reject over a teat he has no right to touch. Cassie's biggest mistake was feeding Calvin alongside Celine. After that, he thought he was entitled to Celine's milk just as often as she was, which is why he threw incessant tantrums and screamed constantly while tearing at Celine's fur and flesh in a jealous rage... He knew exactly what he was doing, he wasn't developmentally delayed at all. I guess you missed the part where he was put on Cassie's back, looked up and down realizing where he was and then made the conscious decision to crawl up her back and over her head and then "fall" down onto her chest to get back to the teat he was just taken away from so he could steal more milk he wasn't allowed to have. That does not show a developmental delay, but careful planning, defiance, manipulation, a lack of respect and no boundaries. Cassie was the boss and no matter what she said or how she tried to discipline him, he constantly defied her. All this defiance led to his abandonment and subsequent death. Infant macaques must learn very quickly and Calvin refused to learn.
Calvin was his own worst enemy. If he had only sat back and waited his turn I Believe he could have lived a long healthy life. Instead he had to compete with Celine constantly and fight for the nipple. He was greedy and starved for it.
Listen Casi isn't Calvin's real mother if some one else's kid tried to hang all over me I would would get mad to especially in the wild were you can't go to the store and pick up what you need to survive....
If you feel too much clingy makes you mad. You won’t touch someone’s baby in first place. Will you kidnap the baby and feel this way. Since u gave example in ur place. Her own daughter too does the same. Bcz of 24hrs uninterrupted milk supply she is gaining strong. So she can go around. Calvin gets only left over and that won’t make him great progress for his age. How can you people be too biased about Calvin. He is a small baby. He needs milk to survive & he feels insecure Bcz of lack of love.

@@nadineveronica8145 biased comment. Everyone knows Calvin doesn’t belong to casi. No new theory with you. Also, do not forget he is a newborn and he too have survival instinct like Celine. As per him, casi is his mom. He doesn’t know he is taking milk from another mom. Can you show one single video Celine had milk or tried to nurse from another mom?
@@AmyPS-hz1mk take a few minutes to read through the comments. Apparently not everyone knows he is not biologically hers if you read the comments. Celine didn't need to go looking for milk from some other mother, she had Casi. Calvin probably should've taken advantage of the moments Casi left him to go search for milk. None of that even matters anymore. His biological mother probably sensed that he was defective & didn't retrieve him. He wasn't meant to survive & he didn't.
@@nadineveronica8145 There are multiple reasons that his mother could have abandoned him. Some babies are born with obvious defects and these mothers dont abandoned them. First time mothers are more likely to abandon infants than mothers who have given birth before. His mother may have failed to retrieve him because a higher ranking female had him. Casi may have kept him to prevent him from returning to his mother and to starve him to give her infant a better chance of survival. That is a strategy higher ranking members use to control the population of lower ranking members. That is just survival and instinctual. But the same was the older monkeys fight to survive that infant was fighting to survive. Those "tantrums" are how they communicate their needs. And unlike what is frequently said on here it does not lead to infants deaths by male and predators to the point that it does not have an adaptive value. Infants make those noise because it helps them survive more than puts them at risk. That is just how evolution works. Plus a starving infant is going to fight for food until they are too weak. And after two days of very little nutrition, he would not be developing normally.
At around 2:18 you can literally see a chunk of her fur being pulled off and flying away because he constantly pinched her and pulled her fur out like that. I'd get mad too.
👍🏾🎯He sure couldn’t walk or do anything else but he sure could crawl all over Casis back, do flips as Casi was on the move and was strong enough to pull handfuls of fur off Casi when she tried moving him. This isn’t the only video I’ve seen him do that in.
He wasn't pulling her fur. He has a strong grip and she was pulling away trying to removing it. That's when the fur came out. All Calvin was good at was clinging while starving to death. He could no longer reach the milk bar being weak and blocked by Celine. His desperate starvation behavior trying to feed made Cali mad.
Casi has a lot of anger in her and I think that's the only reason she has Calvin around she don't want to take it out on her baby so she takes it out on him
All he did was help himself to her infants food source, so much so her own infant started looking sickly. He was so used to nursing whenever he wanted that he became violent when he wasn't allowed to, which led to his many beatings as Cassie wasn't about to deal with that.

Casi isnt doing anything wrong. The Vos should be ashamed of themselves for what they did to this baby. When he fell at birth and his mom came to get him they stopped her and gave him to Casi knowing she would not feed him. Casi had just given birth herself. This was all so they could make money with people watching the vids. The bad thing is he thinks Casi is his mom. And she does take care of him but nature tells her that she must ensure the survival of her baby not some other monkeys. Survival of the fittest. He is clean and protected. She is just trying to teach him that the milk isnt for him. Monkeys do this by biting and pulling on their hair
Its almost like a social monkey experiment at this point. Abandoned baby treerat adopted by mother with newborn treerat of her own. Only the strong will survive.
You are very correct about that, its only the strong survive in the natural world, that is the way it runs, if it didnt kill you, you become a stronger survivor. calvin needed way too much assistance, there is no world where even his own monkey mom would eventually kick him off the milk for good and he would have to forage like the rest. Not Cassies fault at all, she actually put herself and daughter in danger caring for him. casi and chicko both have been penalized by the troop by his constant screaming.

Calvin is very different, something is very off with him, my curiosity is peaked!
Calvin thinks casi is his mom. True enough, he also thinks Celine is a interloper and doesn’t belong with Casi and wants Celine gone so he can have all the milk.
Honey, monkeys don’t have “moms.” These animals are driven by instinct. Not human terms. There was nothing about being with Casi that made him “instinctually sound.” She wasn’t feeding him. She wasn’t protecting him. She never gave him any positive survival encouragement. Have you not seen him reaching at other monkeys? Or calling at them? Or climbing on them? He’s trying to find “the one” that will care for him and his survival as Casi does Celine. Cesca does Colin etc..
I don’t know what happened to the mother but the ppl recording this video be poison in the mothers are you taking a baby or sit in the babies are to be attacked for food it’s a lot of videos of her abusing this baby and he starving cause she don’t let him nurse cause it’s not her baby the vos gave her this baby monkey in She abuse him in all videos he die a long time ago and they still making money off his videos

@@oomachiw111 That’s definitely true. These people somehow arrived at the conclusion it’s all lollipops out there in the Cambodian jungle. Abuse is a term only used to describe human behavior. It means that someone abusing is subject to punishment because they know the action is wrong. Monkeys aren’t like this. Monkeys don’t hate each other. They are spontaneous in nature and they do not plan their actions. The only rules monkeys are aware of are rules that loosely hold their troop together. They like to say really stupid things like this without even understanding what they’re talking about.
Although heartbreaking and distressing, I actually find the situation between Cassie and Calvin to be quite fascinating, and extremely educational. I believe it gives us greater insight into the cognitive function, and capacity for emotional intelligence, when it comes to macaques. The fact that Cassie initially took Calvin in, alongside her own baby, nursed him, and provided for him, yet clearly became very frustrated, overwhelmed, and uncomfortable enough with the situation to be able to, ultimately, abandon him, and look on, as he died a slow, and painful death, as a result of a combination of dehydration and starvation, truly speaks volumes. What I am seeing here, shows that these animals likely live, act, and react, in the present moment, and have little capacity for forethought, and premeditated planning, as well as afterthought, and self reflection. She, most likely, accepted Calvin, on a whim, due to a compelling sense of maternal instinct, yet had no capability to think the circumstances, and their potential implications, through, prior to that momentary action that she made. Once the added work of having a 2nd baby began to take its toll on her, in terms of exhaustion, the constant burden, etc, her frustration towards the situation became starkly apparent, as she began to, simultaneously, display an escalating amount of favoritism towards her own baby, while becoming increasingly hostile towards Calvin; surely, an act of venting her anger and frustration back to, what she felt, was the source, as she clearly lacked the ability to recognize that the position in which she had found herself, and the corresponding dissatisfaction felt towards it, had not been Calvin's fault, but, in fact, rather a product of her own choices, actions, and free will. Furthermore, the fact that after caring for him, on such an intimate level, she was perfectly fine to just abandon him, and ultimately sit idly by, as he suffered horribly, and died a slow and painful death, that, had she wanted, she could have absolutely intervened, to prevent, yet didn't, and, instead, felt no sense of obligation, guilt, or sorrow, really tells us how little empathy these animals are capable of, and speaks to the fact that they, likely, only possess the potential to formulate very shallow, superficial, and non-emotional bonds, with one another. Perhaps, this actually alludes to the fact that they are not nearly as "highly intelligent" as many believe them to be, and, on the contrary, actually have quite limited complex, rational, and analytical thinking capabilities. It is quite possible that her cognitive abilities might have limited her from ever truly embracing the full scope of the circumstances at hand; rendering her unable to recognize the role she played in influencing this trajectory of events, and incapable of comprehending the significance of her choices and actions, or lack thereof, in regard to the weight of their specific contributions to the tragic end result. Rather, it seems as if, once again, she were solely capable of acting upon impulse and frustration, when abandoning Calvin, and from that point on, she simply continued that pattern of only living in the moment, and therefore never having the potential to realize the impacts of her decisions, likely, never experiencing any sense of responsibility for his death, and the ultimate outcome, and having no capacity to reflect back, upon the circumstances, in such a way as a human might, where he or she would, commonly, keep repeating through the circumstances in his or her mind, wondering if he or she should have acted differently, made different choices, chosen different worlds, etc, and piecing together the possibile outcomes that could have arisen, had he or she acted according to such alternate decisions. Like I mentioned, previously, I believe this serves as a great example of how macaques seem to be nearly entirely devoid of the capacity for, both, forethought, and reflective afterthought, and also speaks to how much of a reduced perspective, they possess, in terms of understanding complex, and progressive circumstances, and maintaining an accurate sense of accountability, throughout.
In general, true But A) Casi began to reject Calvin because he did not let her eat or rest. What is a burden and the desire to remove the source of irritation B) macaques are capable of establishing deep connections. For Casi Calvin remained a stranger. I want to remind you that if you rely ONLY on the relationship between Casi and Calvin That part of your comment about emotional attachment is correct.
This is mostly correct but maquette do possess the ability to plan ahead to arrive at a positive outcome . Infant attacks also have the ability to manipulate their mothers, as you'll see Calvin always threw a tantrum when he was being disciplined or when he wanted more milk. He remembered the fact that every time he screamed she would stop disciplining him and pull over her hand away quickly. So every time in the future when he was disciplined as soon as she grabbed him he would scream and she would let go. Eventually it got to the point where she didn't care if he screamed because she was so sick of his shit by this point. Also, Calvin brought the negative reactions upon himself. Anytime she disciplines him it was because of something he did she wasn't just attacking the source of her negative emotions and frustration. If you watch closely he always did something first to elicit the response out of Cassie. He would grab onto her face, or literally place his body in front of her face To tell her he wanted to nurse, which in turn elicited a negative reaction. He would scream and whip his body around throwing a tantrum, which would cause Cassie to grab him by the hair to stop his screaming and tantrums. Cassie knew his screaming could get her attacked as macaques will kill a screaming infant as screaming infants alert predators to their location. He would stare in her eyes which isn't another no no in macaque society. She would place him on her back so Celine could eat in peace and he would look up and down and then climb up her back and fall over her head and land back on her chest to defy her, which would elicit a negative response from her. This shows planning on Calvin's part and shows us that baby macaques are capable of planning and manipulation. His jealous tantrums every time Celine was allowed to nurse, show us macaques are capable of envy. I think you need to watch a little more closely to understand which actions of Calvin's caused reactions from Cassie. Also, paragraphs are very helpful when you're going to leave a long response. The overuse of commas also made it a bit difficult to read... Your response was mostly correct except for the parts where you're missing the disciplinary dynamic between Calvin and Cassie.
This is valuable excellent footage that I have not seen before. Better quality video and better angle. Wow, you can really see the expression of despair in his face. He wined so much to be with his own kind and complaimed about being with humans and look what he gets. He had it made if he would have just been responsive to the humans.
@@Justice-ef9sk No, his birth mom rejected him right after he was born. Casi, the adult female seen here, had picked him up and long story short, he starved to death. These Macaques don’t normally care/nurse babies that’s not their own. He lived roughly 2.5-3 weeks.
this breaks my heart: it makes me weep for these babies. My mother abandoned me when I was 3 months old and though I'm not a monkey I know how it feels to crave a mother's love just to be pushed away and left behind. I pray for these babies
The longer Casi had possession of Calvin, the more aggressive she was getting with him. Had he scurried over and clung to her when Chiko had him, imo, Casi would’ve ended up killing Calvin.. it would’ve been another Rozy situation. When she was done, she was done. 9:28 he dare not grab on..
You are so wrong. Cassie fed Calvin more than her own daughter. It wasnt until he started to want to be on the nipple constantly that she started to complete ly cut him off. She couldn’t feed Celine ever because he was right there steeling the nip from her mouth. If you dont believe me watch the videos under “calvin nursing”. There are literally hundreds of videos of Calvin eating for hours at a time and Celine throwing a fit because she can’t get near a nipple. This went on for two weeks until cassie realized Celine was suffering literally starving. Every time he ate, she had to pull him off because he would not stop. If she didn’t leave him alone somewhere, Celine did not eat. Watch those videos you will be shocked I was. David owes only played the videos of Calvin getting mistreated and it wasn’t even mistreated. It was just her trying to let her own daughter eat once in a while.
@@carriesterling-ej3xz She starved Calvin from day 1-4 and started abandoning him daily from day 6-death. You’re the one that’s so wrong, sweetheart. These baby monkeys weigh less than a pound at birth and is why they need to nurse very, very frequently in order to grow, be strong and thrive. That’s why ALL baby monkeys are glued to moms chest their first few weeks of life. Celine was never starved, as you can clearly see, she’s walking, climbing all over Casi and curious with her surroundings. She’s thriving! If she was starved, she would be as weak as Calvin was and would be in constant “freak-out mode,” like Calvin was. Casi was a good mom to Celine. Malnutrition/dehydration causes immobility and weakness. A simple Google search will tell you this. Calvin never received the CONSISTENT nutrition he needed to grow, be strong and thrive, hence why he was so weak. EVERY living being needs a consistent food source to thrive. Every single one. You are basing your supposed “facts” off a 10 minute video, that’s been cut and edited and that’s out of a 24 hour day. There were brief moments that Calvin tried blocking Celine but again, they were brief and Celine NEVER went a substantial amount of time without nursing, like Calvin did. Ever. Casi, being the good mom she was to Celine, made sure of it. She wasn’t going to make her own baby do without, just to let one that wasn’t her baby, thrive off her. For evolution reasons, that makes absolutely no sense! Think about what you’re claiming. Did you know that Calvin is dead? Yep… Celine isn’t though. 💜 Please do some research and get to know what you’re talking about. Btw, who’s David?
Of course you have numbers to back that up? Of course you do, otherwise it’s just a comment originating from a place of emotional reaction due to just not having an understanding of what goes on in the wild. I set out to examine that very subject so that in cases such as yours, I could lay out exactly what I found. The only way to truly get an accurate measure of Calvin’s milk intake was to count the number of individual times I personally saw him nursing. Of course it’s been a long experiment but I began making a playlist of every video where Calvin gets to nurse. You can find that playlist on my homepage. As of now it has over 120 videos of different times Calvin got to nurse. Calvin was just a newborn that lived for 19 days total. The first day he did not nurse, nor did he on the last day either. He got milk just not from Casi. Anyway, at a very minimum of 120 different times he nursed in a 17 day period gives us an average of just about 7 times per day. Calvin wasn’t starving, he wasn’t even hungry for very long any stretch of his life and he didn’t die of starvation. The things you have seen that have led you to believe Calvin was starving was: 1. He was skinny. But he was also born very small and skinny and his frame never lost weight during his life. So being skinny is not an indicator of starvation. 2. He was constantly clawing and scratching and crying for milk from the first moment he got to taste it. It sure does appear to be the actions of a hungry monkey, except every single baby monkey acts like this when they get the forest taste of milk. Calvin’s position was unique because he was abandoned so he was forced to take a spot wherever he could get one and that was unfortunately in a second place role behind Celine. Calvin was just not as important as Celine. So Celine would be able to nurse to fill and then Calvin could nurse. He may have gotten less milk than Celine, but he still got a lot of milk. Any baby monkey put in a position of having to wait to nurse for another baby to be finished is going to act unruly and cry and scratch and claw. He had nothing better to do but try and fight for Celine’s spot constantly and he was trying to get Casi to choose him over Celine, without much success. Calvin was an unmotivated monkey that never moved out of Casi’s lap, he had terrible sense of direction and subsequently spent the majority of his time booping his head around in places that didn’t have a nipple. Calvin was most comfortable just sitting with a nipple in his mouth though, tucked up close to the warm body of an approving mother. So when he was not in that position he just constantly scratched and tried to get to that position. Not an indication of starvation, just normal monkey behavior. 3. Casi pulled Calvin off her nipples. She did this many times but for a very good reason. Since Calvin constantly fought to get to a nipple he wouldn’t voluntarily let it go. He would nurse all day and all night if he was allowed to. This put Casi into a position of either shaking him off her nipple when she went into a sprint, or grabbing Calvin’s head and forcibly removing him. Show me one video where Calvin voluntarily let’s go of Casi’s nipple. Celine would nurse for a bit and then head out to play, Calvin was so lazy and so uncoordinated that Casi was forced to try and put him into positions to make him walk and he would sit and cry for as long as she left him. So pulling Calvin from the nipple was a necessity. Try and do some critical thinking on the issue and reevaluate. Fact check all that I said. It took a lot of work to develop.
@@theariesexperiment4642 What I do love about you guys is when you know you’re wrong you have an ego the size of a dump truck so you double down on your previous statement by also including insults. It’s quite natural that when the truth goes against a person that they become bitter and start throwing insults in the hopes they can just plunge the conversation into chaos. I don’t know you so it doesn’t do much good to try and insult you. I do like backpacking though and I was looking for a good trail name. I think Hot Rod would be perfect. In reality, your original statement was probably much more true than you think. Half gallon of milk might be close to the amount an infant monkey would drink in 19 days. The thing is you weren’t computing something, probably thinking he was much older than he was. But your intent was clearly to say you don’t think he got to drink much milk. Fortunately the ones who read that first inadequate assessment have the details in my response to gleen some accurate information about Calvin. There are lots of American viewers that don’t have a good concept of what is happening in these videos and believe the comment section is a good place to dump all of their opinions they have formulated through misunderstanding. Finally someone Who is talking sense. She was pretty rough on him. The first couple of days, I think she was hoping that Christie may step up and claim him. She was calling out for her. At this point in Calvin‘s life, he was eating way more than Celine was. He was getting very aggressive every time he was not near the teat and Celine was. He never gave Celine one moment of peace when she was eating. Cassie knew at this point, It was Celine or Calvin and she made the choice.
Casi should never have picked him up. The responsibility was with his mother alone!
lol she didn't want him...everyone that knows about Calvin knows this...Calvin could have had it way better than most monkeys who got abandoned by their mother...but he like most infant monkeys got gluttonous and would not adjust to the rules.

@doreenkallukmcdonald My sentiments EXACTLY!

@Jennifer Arnold Very true, and it still irritates me, too.

Casi was a good mom. Calvin's mom Crystal dropped him as a baby because mom macques can tell when the baby has issues and will not be able to develop in a way that allows them to maintain themselves after weaning. Casi was trying to save his life. True..but let's be real.. not many people can just see a newly born infant on yhe ground abandoned and not do anything.
Lmfoa look at Calvin fighting back… what a cute little guy
Babies must root

Oh for f*cks sake.
@@daniellelee1997agreed 👍
That’s what happens when a living being doesn’t get the consistent nutrition they need to progress, grow and be strong. 🤷🏾♀️

Will you kidnap the baby and feel this way. Since u gave example in ur place.
Her own daughter too does the same. Bcz of 24hrs uninterrupted milk supply she is gaining strong. So she can go around. Calvin gets only left over and that won’t make him great progress for his age.

And again Casi leaves him and mom Christy could have gotten him.
At around 2:18 you can literally see a chunk of her fur being pulled off and flying away because he constantly pinched her and pulled her fur out like that. I'd get mad too.
Even when he was turning into tree rat jerky, he had a death grip

He wasn't pulling her fur. He has a strong grip and she was pulling away trying to removing it. That's when the fur came out. All Calvin was good at was clinging while starving to death.
In general, true
But
A) Casi began to reject Calvin because he did not let her eat or rest. What is a burden and the desire to remove the source of irritation
B) macaques are capable of establishing deep connections.
Your response was mostly correct except for the parts where you're missing the disciplinary dynamic between Calvin and Cassie.

this breaks my heart: it makes me weep for these babies. My mother abandoned me when I was 3 months old and though I'm not a monkey I know how it feels to crave a mother's love just to be pushed away and left behind. I pray for these babies

The camera idiots put this baby on this mother. 😊
I wonder if as he was getting older day by day, mom realized he would take more and more milk from her bio daughter.
@@Kris-fq9bi could be? 🤷🏾♀️
Please do some research and get to know what you’re talking about.
Btw, who’s David?
When she looks at him she gets real pissed off😮
I bet from the day he was abandoned to the day he died,.....he didn't drink more than a half gallon of milk.
Half a drop!!!
The things you have seen that have led you to believe Calvin was starving was:
@@adamlv1 Don't need'em hot rod. You wrote alot for absolutely no good reason. It's called an educated guess. Look it up turbo. Your welcome. 😏
@@theariesexperiment4642 What I do love about you guys is when you know you’re wrong you have an ego the size of a dump truck so you double down on your previous statement by also including insults. So my response was not written for you. You are just the person who commented without using their head thereby giving me an outlet to explain the truth to people who are interested.
The wild is not a place that we as American’s know a lot about so we tend to judge these monkeys and this setting from the worldview of the US, instead wild animals in a third world country.
Man she really shuffles him up
That was weak. Where is DeeDee when u need her? Smh. She would have really gotten in his ass and gave him a nice drag along the rocks by his tail...head smacking and bouncing off each rock as they went.

Calvin got it here and I enjoyed it. Thanks.
Does she enjoy hurting Calvin? I mean, if she hates him so much then why in the hell does she even carry him around with her? Why not just leave his ass alone? The VO's said, that they tried to help him a couple of more times, but when they would try to retrieve him while he was alone Casi would run and pick him up. She wouldn't let any one else near him. Monkeys are weird.
Eu não entendo. Ao mesmo tempo que ela não gosta dele, não o larga. Já que não gosta, deveria soltá-lo. Deixá-lo na árvore ou no chão e ir embora com seu filhote. 😮
I think Calvin got his butt kicked for trying to starve Celine to death.
