It had to be so stressful for Casi having to deal with Calvin's constant bullying her for more milk, while trying to leave him to scream for his mom so she could get rid of the thing and then having Chico constantly stalking her and getting in the way, forcing her to pick the screeching leach backup again. I would go nuts with a teenager constantly harassing me pretending she's trying to be my friend (grooming her) while I know she's really plotting on stealing a kid bc all she does is stare in my lap and keeps touching them and every time I put one down, there she is trying to steal it. This is exactly why Casi goes after Chico at 14:33 and pushes her away until Chico's completely away from her and no longer under her (where Chico's attempting to lurk) and by 15:00, Chico's right back on her again "grooming her". OMG, it would've driven me crazy.

There were so many missed opportunities to do away with that little screeching demon. So many, including from the VOs, the fact that they didn’t see that thing creepy crawling in the ground that way and not grab him by the tail and sling him of into space or the nearest tree bewilders me.

These animals really are so smart and so very socially integrated within their groups it is truly AMAZING! Once you know and are able to see and recognize the things they do to communicate it is really fascinating to watch them! Just a quick example in this video was at the VERY beginning.. like 0:6 seconds in or so you can see how Casi lifts her head and does a little "nod" in a certain direction, amd then you see how the other one next to her tur s her head to look at whatever Casi was signaling to, THAT is such a PERFECT and easy example of this!! While WE don't SEE or KNOW what it is she was signaling to, we DO KNOW it was SOMETHING significant enough for her to get the OTHER member to ALSO look at whatever it is she saw.. usually it is something to do with FOOD/water or aome kind of inter troop drama.. it wasn't a signal of "danger" or anything for then to "panic or worry" about but it WAS SOMETHING worth her acknowledging it AND getting someone ELSE to acknowledge it.. these animals truly are and have such COMPLEX.. they DO "talk" or have "communication" that is really VERY similar to our own.. while they don't talk with words.. they have super complex amd important "body language " and for this monkey species their FACIAL EXPRESSIONSare their MAIN and TOP communication tool.. ao while we don't always know or see or understand why Casi is disciplining Calvin, we DO KNOWshe is NOT just "doing it because she hates him" he IS ALWAYS doing SOMETHING that he should NOT be doing.. that COULD BE something as SIMPLE-yet as very important - as him making some kind of a FACIAL expression that SHE-as the same species of monkey as him- KNOWS is NOT OKAY for him to be making. . So when you see ANY adults doing that, where you think to yourself something like "aww the baby was just sitting there" you need to remember at that time how THESE animals communicate and remember they don't us VOCAL communication as we do, for THEM it is mostly all about their facial expressions- which can be something done that is as small as the lift of an eyebrow, and even THAT can be enough to make them mad or set them off in anger
I'm glad someone else noticed this as well. Babies ESPECIALLY newborn are always getting kidnapped by other monkeys. But NOBODY except, Chiko, wanted him! Something was definitely wrong with Calvin and the monkeys knew this.
I have been watching Calvin videos for a while , I've seen probably everyone on UA-cam and I have yet to figure that out. I've put considerable thought time into it too. She definitely does not "love" him as far as monkeys can love.

She had just had her first baby, Celine, the day before, and her instincts just wouldn't let her walk away without him. I think that was why she FIRST picked Calvin up, after that, it just became too much to keep him, especially with her own kid suffering.

Well they are animals, Einstein..wild animals. I can see you are having difficulty figuring out what's going on here. Many Macaque and pig tail monkey mother's will do this, they are trying to encourage the babies to be independent and walk. That's why she keeps scooting back And what does Calvin do? He tries to walk to her by any means possible. Her baby, 1 day older was already walking. Calvin only wanted to be carried, and Casi's instincts might be telling her that Calvin being a male, has not long in the troop before he must instinctively exile himself as all males do before they mature. This happens when they are juveniles and I don't think any of the big male monkeys are going to carry him around No monkey will care what Calvin's needs and wants are. So yes, these babies MUST learn from day 1 fast...monkey rules, hierarchy, way of life, males don't get to stay with mama. Females on the other hand are encouraged to stay close to their mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunt's . etc their whole lives. So Calvin has to get with the monkey program to survive. Casi is trying to teach him what it's gonna take to survive on his own without her or any other monkey. You snooze, you lose. Truth is, baby monkeys without their biological moms rarely survive in the jungle. So yeah, I know...mfckr's that slide into these comments that haven't a clue what their yaking about, irritate and annoy the people that have common sense and actually have reasoning skills, and know what they are talking about. I'd like to see how well you'd function as a newborn being beaten, starved, dehydrated and malnourished. A developing baby, human or otherwise, who receives the complete lack of care and nourishment that Calvin recieved is destined to have severe developmental, physical, and neurological problems just as Calvin did. Finally someone gets it! No amount of milk was ever going to help Calvin make it to adulthood! He was mentally and physically deformed and I believe partially blind. And one of those things equal a early death in the monkey world nevermind all 3! Because he looks like a zombie due to starvation, people react negatively. Calvin was a beautiful baby monkey. Some reactions say a lot about how one stands in life and also acts. This has nothing to do with wildlife, but with thinking.

I just chalked it up to a lack of coordination. But there is definitely stupidity in there too. No matter what, most baby monkeys will not start walking wrong and have to correct themselves. Calvin looks like one of those sand crabs that kind of stumbles along walking sideways. I tried to see if I could identify what he was doing and I saw him get on all fours but then he tries to stretch both his back legs out then he pulls them both forward at the same time. If you notice when he’s moving he’s always practically jumping his first step. It’s because he doesn’t know how to alternate his steps when he walks. You would never know he has issues with walking 90% of the time because he acts like a special needs kid who requires full time care.
His body and organs were shutting down that's why he moved weird. His muscles were stiffening up. He was slowly starving his body needed nutrients. He didn't get them properly from birth. That's why he looked and moved weird. He died a horrible death he didn't ask for it. It's sad to see the hate on Calvin. He was just hungry and desperate. I seen terror on his tiny face. He knew he was dying and be so young. Truly so sad R, I. P Calvin hope your belly stays full in heaven sweet boy. Yes, thank you very very true if people paid attention and stop seeing only what they wanted to when it came to Calvin they may just realize Casi’s actions were actually reactions to some thing. Calvin had done she was not torturing him. She was not abusing him. she was disciplining him. He showed no respect whatsoever. That’s a big deal and monkey world. All he had to do was learning follow a few monkey rules he wanted no part of that. He paid the consequences, plain and simple.
He didn't die. I swear people have truly made up so much about this while Calvin situation that is not true. I don't know how so much false information kept getting passed around by people but it is crazy. There are actual videos that show the truth of what happened and yet still people made up stories in their heads. The people never kidnapped him from his real mom, they did try to give him back to his real mom but she ran off and that was when casi went down from the tree and grabbed him, casi was not trying to kidnap him either, you can see this by the way she was constantly looking around and calling out during the forst 2 or 3 days that she had him. His real .other never came back around to get him. There are about 3 or 4 videos that shows his real mom around and she would look at him or sniff st him but by that time he was already over a week old and her milk would have been dried up anyways. A few times thT chiko had him she went over and was curious about him but she NEVER not ever once tried to grab for him. He was Chrisys first baby and she was still very young. Young moms do often abandon their forst babies, because they are unsure what to do or they are very weak and in pain or sometime they drop them from the tree and think they are dead and they run off. His mom Chrisy I believe ran off and was off on her own a while most likely trying to gain strength back after what was her first birth ever and she was obviously in a lot of pain, as ALL mothers are after giving birth. No meds and no assistance, any human women that has had a child of her own, with of without meds or should beable to understand how traumatic and difficult that could have been for her, would be similar to a young girl having a baby right after she got her first menstrual period, then has a baby so young and alone and confused.. so his real mom had likley ran off to heal on her own and by the time she was back with the troop it would have been far to late anyways, he was bonded with casi and chrisy's milk was dried up. Casi DID NURSE Calvin, he was NOT STARVING TO DEATH! babies that are starving do NOT have energy to fight the way he always did! Watch videos on Taylor or Krito and you will see how a starved newborn baby monkey acts. Calvin ALWAYS had enough milk to survive and grow on. I am sure he felt HUNGRY most of the time, but he was NOT STARVING, there is a HUGE difference there. Celine was casis own baby that she gave birth to only 12 hours before she took Calvin off the wall, she only took him off that wall to get him away from the humams, not to keep him, she was calling out and looking for his real mom but she was not coming around so casi was stuck with him. You can see that near the end when casi was very seriously done with Calvin that the reasons she was getting so angry and done with him was when he started to try and bully Celine and he was trying to block and steal milk directly from celines mouth! There are a few days that Calvin was getting more milk than Celine was and you could SEE IT. Celine was for a few days extremely skinny and Calvin was getting g bigger then she was a few videos. But he did not die. Once casi left him woth chiko amd refused to take him back, which is also on video how chiko DID TRY to give him back but everytime she got close to casi casi would run off or get mad at chiko. When the human saw that they did remove him from chiko, at great risk to themselves both legally and physically at risk as a monkey troop can KILL A HUMAN if they all attacked. But they got him from her and cared for him at a "sanctuary " for a few months and once he was big enough he was released into the sovana troop made up of yhe little abandoned pet monkeys, because his own troop NEVER would haveaccepted him back at that point. That is why they released him to that lottle "outcast troop" I have linked that video of him in the sovana troop in many comments, he is about 7 to 9 months old in those videos and while he looks older it IS CLEARLY HIM. They titled it with his name "Carvin" because as you can see in many of the videos when he was still with Casi, 3 different channels used slight name variations either due to typos or translation problems, or different people might just have preferred different names, he was always refered to either as "Calvin" or "Carvin" or "Carlvin" but the whole BS story of him being starved to death die to humans and/or Casi "kidnapping" him is TOTAL BS. people seriously just MADE THAT CRAP UP in theor heads or something because the actual video proof 100% shows that is not what actually happened! He was greedy and he was a brat and he did act like he was entitled to all the milk and he did bully and push and hurt Celine as if she was the one intruding on his mom or on his milk and place when reality was CALVIN was the interloper and he was stealing milk and attention that Celine RIGHTFULLY DISERVED TO HAVE. It was his own fault he was treated how he was, he never learned or did what casi was trying to teach him to do! Any mother who jas children knows that you would always do ANYTHING to protect your children, and you would not take food from your b ies to give to someone else's baby.. these are WILD animals, so that milk those moms make is the ONLY nutritional source those babies have, there is no formula or milk they can go get to help supplement, casi was low ranked and didn't get much food for herself, so she made less milk at times. And she was ALWAYS going to e sure Celine got enough forst, just like any mom would do, if you say you would seriously starve your own baby, or make your own baby go hungry so that some other baby would get it instead you are full of crap or you do not have any of your own children.
I could watch this video over and over. It’s so satisfying to see that little goblin finally get what he deserved. He had been abusing Celine for 10 day’s scratching and clawing at her trying to steal all her milk. His own Mother wanted nothing to do with him. His entitled behavior got him here. His laziness and greed was his downfall. He never tried to be social or showed no interest in normal behavior. All he cared about was the milk bar. He was fed plenty until this point but was just too much, too aggressive and greedy. Celine never showed aggression but he sure did. Cassie tried he best to save the demon but finally gave up. The physical fight and struggle Casi had with Calvin is impressive. This so called weak baby, could wrestle with her. Any other baby would have withdrawn, no not Calvon. He didn't want to be rejected at all. I believe that Calvin had a neurological disorder, It's prevalent when he walks, when he grasping at Casi, and when he's trying to distinguish items within reach. maybe this is why his birth mom didn't go back for him. She could sense he was defective. For a wild animal to have motor function concerns is the wild is a death sentence.

the problem really was that he was never able to develop well because he was never fed well. The villagers of the monkey reserve rescued him from his mother almost to give him milk and try to get him back. When they saw him better recovered, they showed him to Christie, his real mother, but she rejected him again and the worst thing was that after all the mistreatment and abuse of him, they almost gave him back and that was his death sentence. They should never have returned it to him and later when they recovered it again it was too late for him. That poor baby monkey suffered a lot.
That is his real mom sitting there next to them at the very start of this video... But she showed no interest at all in trying to get him.. those of you in the comments maybe will understand that now it was NOT the humans, it was his real mom who did not want him so Casi picked him up trying to get him away from the humans but I don't think she had any interest in keeping him. She just saw a baby with humans and she wanted to get him away from them until his mother came for him, but she clearly never did, and then Casi was stuck with this baby that she didn't want and had no way to produce enough milk for 2newborns, she never had enough food to eat so she didn't really make much milk and obviously she was going to ensure her real baby was getting enough first

So, the mother (Christy) definitely, wouldn't risk being, injured or killed trying to take her baby back! Well, it was obvious that she behaved well because being her real biological daughter gave her priority to feed herself and filled her full. On the other hand, Calvin moved more and got desperate because he did not feed him well because the monkeys practically could not feed two children at the same time.
For being a baby Macaque, Celine was VERY well behaved. Most monkey moms have to pry their offspring off the tit and learn to walk/explore etc.. Celine took the initiative all on her own. For having to deal with constantly being pushed, pulled, bitten, grabbed, yanked and sucked on by Calvin, she was very mild tempered. It goes to prove she was receiving adequate nutrition even though calvin had been nursing too though.

Yep, I agree Calvin was calling all the shots, even when he was told no and was disciplined for his awful behavior. His vile behavior alone which made all the monkeys around him miserable was the weapon he used to call all the shots. It worked for a while. But his instincts were not firing on all cylinders and he caused his own downfall. IMO of course.
Something was off with Calvin’s Medula Oblongata that day I swear. It was on this day that so many remarkable clashes take place between the two. Calvin is literally getting the snot pounded out of him on every tree branch and down in the leaves. But little dude just keeps at it all day as if Casi was just a giant walking nipple. Every time she would put space between herself and hell monkey he would completely flip out and he would try to tackle her just so he could put his lips anywhere on her. He was possessed. She had some major patience on this day because in every scene you watch Calvin he’s got those little duck lips and he gets this little bubble in his cheek on his lower jaw when he is sucking. And that’s all he does that day. It was absolutely epic when he chased her around that tree and she ended up running away from him completely. And he is just so lost. He hasn’t the first clue what to do and so we end up getting to see him look awkwardly at a tree and then run up to it and put his arms around it and howl at the tree. Calvin is as good as dead if he ever had made it outside the troop somehow. He would have been killed off instantly because of his tantrums and screaming.

I have come to the conclusion that I have been wrong about Casi and Calvin’s relationship. I did misunderstand what was happening. I was just one of the crowd that explained it as Casi abusing him, but it always troubled me because there is no explanation for that. If she wanted him dead she was just one swipe away from achieving that. So the fact that. Calvin stayed alive for almost 3 weeks with her tells me that there has to be something deeper to it. Monkeys don’t really have the ability for sustained periods of deviance. They are very disorganized in their thinking and you can tell their minds are just racing by the way that their eyes constantly dart around. So Casi wouldn’t have the ability to take Calvin because she wanted to “abuse” or torture him. If she wanted him dead she would have snatched him and killed him right away. So, although I don’t have all the pieces of the puzzle, it is clear to me that the term “abuse” was introduced by the American audience for the most part. They see Casi treating Calvin rough and call it abuse. But that is not a proper characterization of the situation because as I said, monkeys are not capable of sustained periods of deviance. So I got to thinking a bit more and I saw that we often throw the term “beat” around as though Casi beat on Calvin. But I came. To the conclusion that is not true. In fact, Casi never once struck Calvin at all. Examining all of the times she was rough with him, what those encounters consist of is hair pulling, yanking him up out of his seat, holding Calvin out away from her body and not allowing him to grab onto her, lots of very angry faces and she does this after she aligns his head so he is looking straight at her, and then you see her with her face as angry as can be she shows her teeth and ultimately pulls him up to her mouth to bite him. There were no punches and maybe a kick or two but that was not something she did. But examining the biting, I am sure all of you have felt it too when Casi brings Calvin to her mouth to bite him, you can totally tell that she does not clamp down very hard at all. She never left a discernible mark from biting Calvin, and the most telling thing to me is that when a monkey like Casi clamped down on a tiny object like Calvin, just imagine if she bit an apple and held it between her teeth. The moment that Apple is pulled out of her hand and it settles between her clamped jaw that Apple’s position will adjust only slightly to account for the new force exerted on it. If Casi bit Calvin you would see his whole body slightly move as it adjusts to this new force acting on it and although it’s not a big movement, it is clearly visible when something is bit and that object would then move in sync with Casi’s head. Sorry for all that explaining, but that is the conclusion I have come to. Casi never bit Calvin to harm him. They were all fake little bites and I am sure you have seen that too. This really changes a lot for me in their relationship. I cannot say that I feel comfortable with the assessment that Casi beat or abused Calvin. My new theory accounts for this as well. Casi did take. Alvin voluntarily and she began to get rough with him immediately. He constant redirecting his face so he was looking straight at her and only after that was aligned did she jump and try to rough handle him. This means that beating was never the goal or one of Casi’s intents. So my explanation for this has me feeling much more comfortable about it all. Casi holds a position in that troop of monkeys and part of that position is that lower monkeys respect her. I use the term respect loosely because it just really means they have to cower in fear of her if she ever wants them to. Monkeys do follow this system pretty close I have noticed. What Casi did with Calvin, with those big angry glares and mouth open threatening to bite him, her whole goal was only to scare him. She was trying to put the fear of God in him because that is how monkeys demand their respect. Of course, Calvin had just been born and he really couldn’t know anything about the hierarchy at this point, but that didn’t matter to Casi. To her, Calvin was a monkey and if he didn’t respect her then she was going to demand that respect by having him fear her. The look on little Calvin’s face was sheer terror. He had to of been absolutely frightened by Casi doing this to him. But by him being frightened, she was accomplishing what she was trying to do. She didn’t want to kill him, she was preparing him for life in a troop of wild monkeys. Generally a newborn will have its mother to cling to for safety and it can learn these things over a longer period of time with the protection of its mother. Being that Calvin was abandoned, his path was going to have to be crash course. A monkeys mother is the only one that’s going to give them that patience and understanding that comes with the love of a mother. Calvin had to go through a crash course on how things work in a wild troop. Casi did what any monkey was going to do. Calvin didn’t know how to play the game or respect any other monkey and Casi was just trying to right this wrong because it is a certain way in a troop and that is what they stick to. She was just trying to bring harmony back to the troop and what she was ultimately doing was trying to save Calvin’s life in the end because there are many many monkeys in a wild troop that don’t allow a baby monkey to disrespect them at all even if they are newborn. They will kill them. In Calvin’s case, he was a male monkey and his life would definitely be at risk from the alpha male of the troop. Because all male monkeys will one day reach an age when they feel frisky enough to challenge the alpha male. To avoid this whenever possible, the alpha male will kill male baby monkeys, or if they happen to live into their teenage years they will be put out of the troop and all the males that have been banished from the troop will assemble somewhere off in the distance where the alpha male will not feel threatened by them. The reality of this whole plan by Casi was that it was not successful. Every time Calvin bucked or threw a tantrum in Casi’s arms monkeys consider that a direct challenge to their superiority. Calvin got disciplined for this on so many occasions I feel like Casi’s hand probably hurt from pulling his hair so much. Little good did it do in the end, Calvin was a terrible monkey and he showed no respect. He was extremely demanding and incredibly obnoxious about everything when he didn’t get what he wanted right away. Casi did her best but ultimately walked away from him and let the troop deal with him. Dehydrating to death is just one of the many ways Calvin could have exited, but it was probably the most peaceful way he could have gone. If you consider what would have happened had Calvin been left out and he stared right into the eyes of the alpha male monkey as he walked by Calvin p’s head would have gotten disconnected from his body in a brutal death. A predator such as a wild boar could have grabbed him and that is a terrible way to die. The set the monkey down on the ground in front of them and as the monkey is terrified kicking and screaming that boar will chomp down and tear it’s face off and eat every bit of it. Then they will walk down while the monkey is seizing violently from shock and it will rip its hands off and eat them one by one so that there are two bloody stumps left. The boar will not stop until it has consumed the entire monkey alive, and that is probably as bad a way that a monkey could go. Yet that is how all wild boars eat and they regularly eat monkeys when they catch them. Life in the wild is brutal and every monkey that is born will not have what it takes to survive out there. Calvin had nothing to help his chances and he therefore succumbed to his circumstances in pretty quick order once Casi gave up on him.

I am in Agreement with your comment. But still for some REASON, there is no monkey, baby or adult that annoyed and irritated me more than Calvin. Still trying to get to the bottom of that. You know what I think is funny is Casi just couldn’t stand Calvin’s face and she would often times just look down at him and you can see the disgust I her response. If she didn’t beat on him she would often times just squish the babies against her and take off in a dead sprint, but going nowhere in particular. She often did that thing you just mentioned of bouncing up and down on the tree branch and I think it really is a half hearted attempt to just shake him loose and leave him. Calvin never fell off when she did it though. And his grip held true when she was vertically flying down trees and flipping directions and leaping across tiny tree limbs. Calvin was born with huge hands and the fur of Casi’s coat would often times rip completely out before Calvin lost his grip. However, Calvin did fall off Casi a few times and funny enough it was usually when she was standing still and in flat ground. He all of a sudden couldn’t hang on and would be dangling screaming and crying barely holding on with one hand. It’s apparent that Calvin had a skill. It was theater. Whenever he found himself in an unfavorable position stuck to Casi’s ass or upside down on her back leg he could just let go, if the conditions were favorable, and scream and cry like he couldn’t hold on. This would force Casi to coddle him and usually just pick him up and squish him to her chest. Conveniently, the milk bar was located much closer in the adjusted position so it worked well for him in many occasions.

Every day I read all about you and your friends thinking the comment section is a place where you go to tell the video creators what to do. Because they sure need to know from somebody that lives on a different continent and has never seen a damn monkey in their life before. I saw a wild boar grab a monkey in another video and with the monkey squirming that boar tore its face off and ate it. With the monkey violently seizing due to shock the boar walked down and pulled both of the monkeys hands and lower arms off and ate them. The monkey got torn to pieces alive and eaten. Then I realize that is how every single wild boar eats in the wild and they often times eat monkeys. If that is too much for you then go and bury your head in the sand again, because that is the real world. I laugh because monkeys don’t feel embarrassment. The probl isn’t the real world, the problem is you.
He was even trying to go to her and she STILL doesn't take him. So people really need to stop saying that it was anything that the humans did, Calvin's real mom never wanted him. That is so obvious in this video
I think he looks stunned. Like he is in a daze because he can't believe he is actually back with Casi. He is a traumatized infant clinging to the only parent he has even known. It is sad actually. She even makes him wait longer even though he is desperately hungry. I am not a Calvin fan by any means but occasionally I feel a speck of sympathy. As for the part where she is making him follow, when I first saw that clip I thought she was just forcing him to walk because he never wanted to walk on his own and he needed to practice. But now when I see this sequence of events, it looks more like she is punishing him. He wouldn't get off her and obey her so she got mad. The fact that he is frantic with hunger doesn't matter to her. Obey first then eat.
Calvin was born with and was rejected bc of birth defects. The mother (as all wild animals do) knew he wouldn’t survive and she left him. The VO’s took him and offered him to Casi. The mother monkeys are deathly afraid of humans taking their babies, so Casi took him as a way to protect him from “humans” but I think she expected the mom to come along after, and she was annoyed that he was never claimed. While her daughter and all the other babies began to walk, start to learn foraging skills, try different solids, Calvin rejected all training, rejected all solid foods, and wanted to be carried and nursed all day every day. Casi was not equipped to raise an orphan with developmental delays that was NOT her own. The VO’s should have left him to die when his mother left him, OR if they wanted to help, they should have put him in a sanctuary and most likely would have had to tube feed him (as he wouldn’t even latch on a milk bottle when he was starving) and kept him there for the remainder of his days bc it was clear from birth he wouldn’t be able to survive in the wild. She was never mean to him. If u watch, even when she tries to place him on a branch (seen more in other videos) yes she would look aggressive, but it’s bc he was hysterically clinging to her…but once he grabbed the branches, if u watch, she would keep her hand as a support under him so he wouldn’t fall. I think she just didn’t understand why he would not try or learn like the other babies and she just wasn’t equipped to deal with it. Casi was the only monkey who tried to help other than Chico. The VO’s as well as most of the audience keep applying human logic and emotions to a situation involving WILD ANIMALS. He wasn’t starved nor was he abused. He was never meant to grow or flourish.

I have stated in many of my own posts in other videos that Casi never hurt him and there is a truck load of people taking the WILD ANIMALS! angle to make their point so that is well known too. In the video Calvin just got back from being away from Casi a long time. Chiko had him first then Tachas had him so it was a long time he was away and he is very hungry. So hungry in fact that he might be in shock due to dehydration. Dehydration can cause hallucinations so it looks like he is not sure where he is when she first takes him back at the start. Also, all these monkey infants are traumatized when separated from their parents and Casi was the only parent Calvin knew even though she was only a foster parent. Even though Casi does take him back and proceeds to check him out she does not want to let him nurse right away. It has been stated by others and I agree with them that Casi was beginning the slow process of rejecting Calvin but Chiko's interference in the last segment of the event made her take him back and let him nurse. The juveniles that keep harassing Casi have overstepped themselves. She aggressively shakes up Chiko, who seems to be the ringleader, even when she is sitting right beside her mother. Cesca offers no protection to her daughter and so Chiko has to get away. Casi shakes the branch to show her aggression. I have seen videos of alpha monkey Tara do that to show the others that she is the boss. Casi is the daughter of Nina the previous alpha and when Nina lived Casi enjoyed the status of alpha as well which allowed her to be as aggressive as she wanted to. After her mothers death Casi's rank dropped but her capacity for aggression did not. Although she can be seen behaving herself when interacting with those who outrank her now when it comes to those who do not the fierce Casi is not afraid to let them know who is boss.
He could walk he could grab he could hold on he could relentlessly fight Casi and Celine and boy could he threw a temper tantrum, but everybody was swear he’s so weak in oh poor Calvin people only saw what they wanted to when it came to Calvin. it’s still frustrates me.

He would scratch at her eyes and her face he would suck on her face. He would try to physically move her out of his way relentlessly yet no one ever saw that if they paid attention, they might just realize Casi’s actions were actually reaction to something. That's one of my favorite parts! That's a thorn actually not a twig haha. If only it would've pierced through his cheek maybe he could've became stuck then when Casi went to pull him just ripped it a little more while making him feel the pain. My Gosh, he was relentless and downright demanding to the point of being grossly abusive to Casi, this day. He was going to have his way or no way at all. Ive never seen any monkey bouncing flopping, jumping like a flea, and crawling ground like Satan's spawn and springing like a bungee cord. What bàby monkey you know sucked on arms? And he thought Casi was a tree takes the cake. I dont understand why Casi allowed him to leech off of her after that point. It shoukd have been a wrap. He was just pure evil that day.
It's ludicrous the people who watch these videos and still say poor starving Calvin. They overlook the fact that no starving baby has that much energy.

this is the most i have seen calvin crawl or walk during any video. maybe if he had done like this he would have been accepted. he has been lazy until now. H hasnt moved this much his entire life
@@serenewhedon7359 you are correct. I watched videos and counted the minute and sometimes only seconds that Calvin spent suckling milk. Sometimes he spent as little as 8seconds b4 she pulled him off. Casi should have never touched calvin. she kept him from his mom. Once a baby monkey is with kidnappers long enough the mom will reject it because it smells like the kidnapper. Casi was an evil kidnapping alpha monkey who kidnapped other lower ranking monkeys babies and starved and beat them and their moms if they tried to get them back. Calvin was obsessed with eating because he hardly got to eat and the food was right in front of him. I have watched every video of calvin that i could find and you are absolutely right he was totally malnourished. Celene was born the day before calvin. you can see in the videos how she gets bigger than him The minute Casi stole calvin, he was doomed.
The way the other members of the troop help is so awesome to watch.. like at 5:19 Tana sees casi struggling with getting Calvin under control so she reaches in and grabs his tail and hamds it to casi.. its like she is trying to help saying something while givingher his tail, like "here use this, it will help." Lmao😂 they do help each other even during regular weaning if they see the mom having a hard time with the baby and not being able to get a grib to get it off often another female will help get the baby off like that... and of course little Chiko was a good babysitter for the troop.. all mo key troops have at least 1 younger adolescent female, who is the troops babysitter.. large troops have more than 1.. but this idea that chiko was kidnapping Calvin isn't true.. she wasn't taking him to keep she was trying to help.. in this video you see her trying to play woth Tanya also.. chiko had babysitting duty for all the babies not just calvin.. but due to Calvin not having a mom and casi always getting angry with him chiko just had babysitting duty for Calvin more than the others.. usually mother monkeys will have their troops babysitter take the baby's when mom is forging for food or wants to be groomed and rest in peace.. especially during times moms milk is out and baby is being impatient about waiting for it to refill again.. those are times the moms want them babysitters like chiko to take the baby from awhile.. but she wasnt just taking him as a toy and wasn't trying to keep him. Chiko actually tries in several videos to go near casi woth Calvin in attempting to return him so he can nurse but casi would either run off or get mad at chiko.. especially the last few days when casi left Calvin with chiko for good she was trying a lot to have casi take him back but casi was just done woth him by then. That's when the people took Calvin from chiko and sent him to an animals sanctuary.. but chiko was a very good caring babysitter.. everytime she heard Calvin cry she would go over near him to try and take him from casi so she would get a break and he would not get discipline anymore.. sometimes casi let chiko take him during those times, but often when she was in a discipline situation with him she would run chiko off.. but the fact that chiko even would recognize his cry and go there to try and help him and casi both shows she really was a sweet caring little monkey

Maybe it was because he was.. now, I'm totally going out on a limb here but maybe it was due to the fact that he was literally starving to death and so hungry that all he could do was try to eat whenever possible? Calvin was not starving to death. Have you ever seen a starving animal or human for that matter especially a baby have the energy to relentlessly fight and throw temper tantrums the way Calvin did that takes energy starving animals or humans don’t have energy like that he was not starving. Well, at least not up until the last three or four days Calvin was his own worst enemy. All he had to do was learning follow a few monkey rules and wait his turn. He wanted no part he showed no respect he paid the consequences.

Молоко у Каси вырабатывается только для одного. Селин растет. У нее растут зубы, кости, мышцы. Ей нужен кальций из молока матери. И то что она не дополучит сейчас даст знать во взрослом возрасте. А молока у Каси становиться меньше. По итогу вместо одного болезненного можен получить двух. 2. Благодаря Селин в организме Каси запустился процесс выработки молока. Как говорят англоизычные комментаторы молочный бар принадлежит Селин по праву рождения lol. Кельвин может угоститься, а не съедать все что мать на стол наметала. 3. Так она пишет, что состав молока макаки зависит от того какого полу дитеныша она родила. Для самцов молоко более калорийное. О вопросе выкармливания двоих это возможно при соблюдении двух условий: высокий статус матери и достаточное количество еды для выработки молока. В год рождения Селин и Кальвина уменьшился поток туристов, а значит уменьшилось количество еды. Год был ковидный, карантийный. Каси могла выкормить только одного. Своего родного дитеныша... В общем поищите и почитайте весьма занятые комментарии приматолога. У меня вызывают недоумение претензии к Каси. Жестокая могла выкормить двоих. Просто не захотела, она была такой несправедливой к Кальвину. Обижала крошку. Хорошо. Ради примера Первая половина XX в. СССР. Полным ходом идёт раскулачивание. @@neyliayumaeva9056 касси конечно нельзя было кормить Кэлвина. Есть много видео когда он воровал её молоко на первой неделе и Селин почти сдохла от голода. Если бы Каси не одумалась, то Селин сдохла бы. А вот какая самка...так родная,самка, родная мать, у которой операторы украли Кэлвина, она бы и выключила, но Кэлвину не повезло, из него операторы решили сделать источник денег , долго умирающий жуткий источник, выбор операторов пал на него
@@АннаМ-б4и на мой взгляд у Кальвина были задатки альфа-самца. Ещё как я упоминала выше в одном из комментариев для самца требуется молоко отличное по составу. В нем должно быть больше белков. Соответственно, чтобы насытиться Кальвин выпивал все молоко. И как новорождённый ему нужна теплая грудь и просто соска во рту. У него не было ни сантименров, ни угрызения совести. Только цель выжить. Селин как-то тихо протестовала, но упорно. В ней также сработал инстинкт самосохранения. И начался между ними Mortal Combat. Арбитром стала Каси. И, да я согласна с вами нельзя было Каси кормить Кальвина. Не стоило его подбирать. Думаю операторы нашли бы кому подсунуть макакашонка. Или на худой конец сняли эпичное видео под названием: "Жестокая обезьяна разрывает милого брошенного новорождённого крошку Кальвина". С другой стороны почему мама Кальвина не приходила за ним? Она же слышала его крики о помощи, истерики. Загадка.
Это его настоящая мама сидит там рядом с ними в самом начале этого видео ... Но она совершенно не проявляла интереса к попыткам заполучить его .. те из вас в комментариях, возможно, поймут, что сейчас это НЕ было люди, это была его настоящая мама, которая не хотела его, поэтому Каси взяла его, пытаясь увести подальше от людей, но я не думаю, что она была заинтересована в том, чтобы держать его. Calvin was the reject and should have been happy he was picked up at all and ever fed at all. Celine shared her food nicely and anytime it was her chance to nurse on HER OWN MOTHER'S MILK Calvin clawed at her face, ripped at her eyes, tore at her fur and tried to pull the tete from her nursing mouth. Thank God she grew stronger than the reject and could just shove his greedy ass aside and step on him like the discarded piece of trash he was. Calvin ended up with Chico because he was a greedy aggressive rejected leech and it was beautiful to watch him wither away eventually turning to dust.
most infant monkeys look malnourished, I've seen him get milk a good amount of times because I've watched a lot of his videos. He is strong as hell in most of them also. I think I saw a couple whee he looked sleepy but that was probably why, he was tired from all the wiggling around he does

At the beginning it allowed him to feed but later no longer, because the monkeys usually do not have enough milk to breastfeed two babies at the same time.

There are usually two alphas in a monkey troop. An alpha male and an alpha female. Although Casi's mother Nina was the previous alpha female, Casi herself is not the alpha although she does seem to hold a high position in the troop. That doesn't mean she is untouchable because it was Cesca the mother of Chiko who took Calvin from Casi and let Chiko have him for babysitting. Casi didn't like it but followed the rules of the troop and so Calvin's outings with Chiko began.
She tried to let him eat toward end of vid, when her real kid was on her back, but he was too stupid to find nipple, or just too out of it from starving to death for so long🤷🏻♂️
I wish that in the beginning of this video when his real mom was sitting there by him would have tried or wanted to take him...but she did not want him... It is super clear to see that... If she had wanted him there were SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES for her to get him if she wanted to, but she just didn't want a baby... She was still to young

It had to be so stressful for Casi having to deal with Calvin's constant bullying her for more milk, while trying to leave him to scream for his mom so she could get rid of the thing and then having Chico constantly stalking her and getting in the way, forcing her to pick the screeching leach backup again. I would go nuts with a teenager constantly harassing me pretending she's trying to be my friend (grooming her) while I know she's really plotting on stealing a kid bc all she does is stare in my lap and keeps touching them and every time I put one down, there she is trying to steal it.
This is exactly why Casi goes after Chico at 14:33 and pushes her away until Chico's completely away from her and no longer under her (where Chico's attempting to lurk) and by 15:00, Chico's right back on her again "grooming her".

These animals really are so smart and so very socially integrated within their groups it is truly AMAZING! Once you know and are able to see and recognize the things they do to communicate it is really fascinating to watch them! Just a quick example in this video was at the VERY beginning.. like 0:6 seconds in or so you can see how Casi lifts her head and does a little "nod" in a certain direction, amd then you see how the other one next to her tur s her head to look at whatever Casi was signaling to, THAT is such a PERFECT and easy example of this!! While WE don't SEE or KNOW what it is she was signaling to, we DO KNOW it was SOMETHING significant enough for her to get the OTHER member to ALSO look at whatever it is she saw.. usually it is something to do with FOOD/water or aome kind of inter troop drama.. it wasn't a signal of "danger" or anything for then to "panic or worry" about but it WAS SOMETHING worth her acknowledging it AND getting someone ELSE to acknowledge it.. these animals truly are and have such COMPLEX.. they DO "talk" or have "communication" that is really VERY similar to our own.. while they don't talk with words.. they have super complex amd important "body language " and for this monkey species their FACIAL EXPRESSIONSare their MAIN and TOP communication tool.. ao while we don't always know or see or understand why Casi is disciplining Calvin, we DO KNOWshe is NOT just "doing it because she hates him" he IS ALWAYS doing SOMETHING that he should NOT be doing.. that COULD BE something as SIMPLE-yet as very important - as him making some kind of a FACIAL expression that SHE-as the same species of monkey as him- KNOWS is NOT OKAY for him to be making. . So when you see ANY adults doing that, where you think to yourself something like "aww the baby was just sitting there" you need to remember at that time how THESE animals communicate and remember they don't us VOCAL communication as we do, for THEM it is mostly all about their facial expressions- which can be something done that is as small as the lift of an eyebrow, and even THAT can be enough to make them mad or set them off in anger

I have been watching Calvin videos for a while , I've seen probably everyone on UA-cam and I have yet to figure that out. I've put considerable thought time into it too. She definitely does not "love" him as far as monkeys can love.

She had just had her first baby, Celine, the day before, and her instincts just wouldn't let her walk away without him. I think that was why she FIRST picked Calvin up, after that, it just became too much to keep him, especially with her own kid suffering.

Well they are animals, Einstein..wild animals. I can see you are having difficulty figuring out what's going on here. Many Macaque and pig tail monkey mother's will do this, they are trying to encourage the babies to be independent and walk. That's why she keeps scooting back And what does Calvin do? He tries to walk to her by any means possible. Her baby, 1 day older was already walking. Calvin only wanted to be carried, and Casi's instincts might be telling her that Calvin being a male, has not long in the troop before he must instinctively exile himself as all males do before they mature. This happens when they are juveniles and I don't think any of the big male monkeys are going to carry him around No monkey will care what Calvin's needs and wants are. So yes, these babies MUST learn from day 1 fast...monkey rules, hierarchy, way of life, males don't get to stay with mama. Females on the other hand are encouraged to stay close to their mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunt's . etc their whole lives. So Calvin has to get with the monkey program to survive. Casi is trying to teach him what it's gonna take to survive on his own without her or any other monkey. You snooze, you lose. Truth is, baby monkeys without their biological moms rarely survive in the jungle. So yeah, I know...mfckr's that slide into these comments that haven't a clue what their yaking about, irritate and annoy the people that have common sense and actually have reasoning skills, and know what they are talking about. Yes I know Calvin had problems, however there are plenty of videos that show he could move FAST when he wanted or needed to. Not my fault he moved in a wierd creepy motion that gave me the creeps.

I'd like to see how well you'd function as a newborn being beaten, starved, dehydrated and malnourished. Finally someone gets it! No amount of milk was ever going to help Calvin make it to adulthood! He was mentally and physically deformed and I believe partially blind. And one of those things equal a early death in the monkey world nevermind all 3! I just chalked it up to a lack of coordination. But there is definitely stupidity in there too. No matter what, most baby monkeys will not start walking wrong and have to correct themselves. Calvin looks like one of those sand crabs that kind of stumbles along walking sideways. I tried to see if I could identify what he was doing and I saw him get on all fours but then he tries to stretch both his back legs out then he pulls them both forward at the same time. If you notice when he’s moving he’s always practically jumping his first step. It’s because he doesn’t know how to alternate his steps when he walks. You would never know he has issues with walking 90% of the time because he acts like a special needs kid who requires full time care.
His body and organs were shutting down that's why he moved weird. His muscles were stiffening up. He was slowly starving his body needed nutrients. He didn't get them properly from birth. That's why he looked and moved weird. He died a horrible death he didn't ask for it. It's sad to see the hate on Calvin. He was just hungry and desperate. I seen terror on his tiny face. He knew he was dying and be so young. Truly so sad R, I. P Calvin hope your belly stays full in heaven sweet boy. Yes, thank you very very true if people paid attention and stop seeing only what they wanted to when it came to Calvin they may just realize Casi’s actions were actually reactions to some thing. Calvin had done she was not torturing him. She was not abusing him. she was disciplining him. He showed no respect whatsoever. That’s a big deal and monkey world. All he had to do was learning follow a few monkey rules he wanted no part of that. He paid the consequences, plain and simple.
Calvin was irritatingly pathetic. Not once did he attempt to feed himsef.
He didn't die. I swear people have truly made up so much about this while Calvin situation that is not true. I don't know how so much false information kept getting passed around by people but it is crazy. There are actual videos that show the truth of what happened and yet still people made up stories in their heads. The people never kidnapped him from his real mom, they did try to give him back to his real mom but she ran off and that was when casi went down from the tree and grabbed him, casi was not trying to kidnap him either, you can see this by the way she was constantly looking around and calling out during the forst 2 or 3 days that she had him. His real .other never came back around to get him. There are about 3 or 4 videos that shows his real mom around and she would look at him or sniff st him but by that time he was already over a week old and her milk would have been dried up anyways. A few times thT chiko had him she went over and was curious about him but she NEVER not ever once tried to grab for him. He was Chrisys first baby and she was still very young. Young moms do often abandon their forst babies, because they are unsure what to do or they are very weak and in pain or sometime they drop them from the tree and think they are dead and they run off. His mom Chrisy I believe ran off and was off on her own a while most likely trying to gain strength back after what was her first birth ever and she was obviously in a lot of pain, as ALL mothers are after giving birth. No meds and no assistance, any human women that has had a child of her own, with of without meds or should beable to understand how traumatic and difficult that could have been for her, would be similar to a young girl having a baby right after she got her first menstrual period, then has a baby so young and alone and confused.. so his real mom had likley ran off to heal on her own and by the time she was back with the troop it would have been far to late anyways, he was bonded with casi and chrisy's milk was dried up. Casi DID NURSE Calvin, he was NOT STARVING TO DEATH! babies that are starving do NOT have energy to fight the way he always did! Watch videos on Taylor or Krito and you will see how a starved newborn baby monkey acts. Calvin ALWAYS had enough milk to survive and grow on. I am sure he felt HUNGRY most of the time, but he was NOT STARVING, there is a HUGE difference there. Celine was casis own baby that she gave birth to only 12 hours before she took Calvin off the wall, she only took him off that wall to get him away from the humams, not to keep him, she was calling out and looking for his real mom but she was not coming around so casi was stuck with him. You can see that near the end when casi was very seriously done with Calvin that the reasons she was getting so angry and done with him was when he started to try and bully Celine and he was trying to block and steal milk directly from celines mouth! There are a few days that Calvin was getting more milk than Celine was and you could SEE IT. Celine was for a few days extremely skinny and Calvin was getting g bigger then she was a few videos. But he did not die. Once casi left him woth chiko amd refused to take him back, which is also on video how chiko DID TRY to give him back but everytime she got close to casi casi would run off or get mad at chiko. When the human saw that they did remove him from chiko, at great risk to themselves both legally and physically at risk as a monkey troop can KILL A HUMAN if they all attacked. But they got him from her and cared for him at a "sanctuary " for a few months and once he was big enough he was released into the sovana troop made up of yhe little abandoned pet monkeys, because his own troop NEVER would haveaccepted him back at that point. That is why they released him to that lottle "outcast troop" I have linked that video of him in the sovana troop in many comments, he is about 7 to 9 months old in those videos and while he looks older it IS CLEARLY HIM. They titled it with his name "Carvin" because as you can see in many of the videos when he was still with Casi, 3 different channels used slight name variations either due to typos or translation problems, or different people might just have preferred different names, he was always refered to either as "Calvin" or "Carvin" or "Carlvin" but the whole BS story of him being starved to death die to humans and/or Casi "kidnapping" him is TOTAL BS. people seriously just MADE THAT CRAP UP in theor heads or something because the actual video proof 100% shows that is not what actually happened! He was greedy and he was a brat and he did act like he was entitled to all the milk and he did bully and push and hurt Celine as if she was the one intruding on his mom or on his milk and place when reality was CALVIN was the interloper and he was stealing milk and attention that Celine RIGHTFULLY DISERVED TO HAVE. Any mother who jas children knows that you would always do ANYTHING to protect your children, and you would not take food from your b ies to give to someone else's baby.. these are WILD animals, so that milk those moms make is the ONLY nutritional source those babies have, there is no formula or milk they can go get to help supplement, casi was low ranked and didn't get much food for herself, so she made less milk at times. And she was ALWAYS going to e sure Celine got enough forst, just like any mom would do, if you say you would seriously starve your own baby, or make your own baby go hungry so that some other baby would get it instead you are full of crap or you do not have any of your own children.
I could watch this video over and over. It’s so satisfying to see that little goblin finally get what he deserved. He had been abusing Celine for 10 day’s scratching and clawing at her trying to steal all her milk. His own Mother wanted nothing to do with him. His entitled behavior got him here. His laziness and greed was his downfall. He never tried to be social or showed no interest in normal behavior. All he cared about was the milk bar. The physical fight and struggle Casi had with Calvin is impressive. This so called weak baby, could wrestle with her. Any other baby would have withdrawn, no not Calvon. I believe that Calvin had a neurological disorder, It's prevalent when he walks, when he grasping at Casi, and when he's trying to distinguish items within reach. maybe this is why his birth mom didn't go back for him. the problem really was that he was never able to develop well because he was never fed well. The villagers of the monkey reserve rescued him from his mother almost to give him milk and try to get him back. When they saw him better recovered, they showed him to Christie, his real mother, but she rejected him again and the worst thing was that after all the mistreatment and abuse of him, they almost gave him back and that was his death sentence. They should never have returned it to him and later when they recovered it again it was too late for him. That poor baby monkey suffered a lot.

Well, it was obvious that she behaved well because being her real biological daughter gave her priority to feed herself and filled her full. On the other hand, Calvin moved more and got desperate because he did not feed him well because the monkeys practically could not feed two children at the same time.
For being a baby Macaque, Celine was VERY well behaved. Most monkey moms have to pry their offspring off the tit and learn to walk/explore etc.. Celine took the initiative all on her own. For having to deal with constantly being pushed, pulled, bitten, grabbed, yanked and sucked on by Calvin, she was very mild tempered. It goes to prove she was receiving adequate nutrition even though calvin had been nursing too though.

Something was off with Calvin’s Medula Oblongata that day I swear. It was on this day that so many remarkable clashes take place between the two. Calvin is literally getting the snot pounded out of him on every tree branch and down in the leaves. But little dude just keeps at it all day as if Casi was just a giant walking nipple. Every time she would put space between herself and hell monkey he would completely flip out and he would try to tackle her just so he could put his lips anywhere on her. He was possessed. She had some major patience on this day because in every scene you watch Calvin he’s got those little duck lips and he gets this little bubble in his cheek on his lower jaw when he is sucking. And that’s all he does that day. It was absolutely epic when he chased her around that tree and she ended up running away from him completely. And he is just so lost. He hasn’t the first clue what to do and so we end up getting to see him look awkwardly at a tree and then run up to it and put his arms around it and howl at the tree. Calvin is as good as dead if he ever had made it outside the troop somehow. He would have been killed off instantly because of his tantrums and screaming.

I have come to the conclusion that I have been wrong about Casi and Calvin’s relationship. I did misunderstand what was happening. I was just one of the crowd that explained it as Casi abusing him, but it always troubled me because there is no explanation for that. If she wanted him dead she was just one swipe away from achieving that. So the fact that. Calvin stayed alive for almost 3 weeks with her tells me that there has to be something deeper to it. Monkeys don’t really have the ability for sustained periods of deviance. They are very disorganized in their thinking and you can tell their minds are just racing by the way that their eyes constantly dart around. So Casi wouldn’t have the ability to take Calvin because she wanted to “abuse” or torture him. If she wanted him dead she would have snatched him and killed him right away.
So, although I don’t have all the pieces of the puzzle, it is clear to me that the term “abuse” was introduced by the American audience for the most part. They see Casi treating Calvin rough and call it abuse. But that is not a proper characterization of the situation because as I said, monkeys are not capable of sustained periods of deviance. So I got to thinking a bit more and I saw that we often throw the term “beat” around as though Casi beat on Calvin. But I came. To the conclusion that is not true. In fact, Casi never once struck Calvin at all. Examining all of the times she was rough with him, what those encounters consist of is hair pulling, yanking him up out of his seat, holding Calvin out away from her body and not allowing him to grab onto her, lots of very angry faces and she does this after she aligns his head so he is looking straight at her, and then you see her with her face as angry as can be she shows her teeth and ultimately pulls him up to her mouth to bite him.
There were no punches and maybe a kick or two but that was not something she did. But examining the biting, I am sure all of you have felt it too when Casi brings Calvin to her mouth to bite him, you can totally tell that she does not clamp down very hard at all. She never left a discernible mark from biting Calvin, and the most telling thing to me is that when a monkey like Casi clamped down on a tiny object like Calvin, just imagine if she bit an apple and held it between her teeth. The moment that Apple is pulled out of her hand and it settles between her clamped jaw that Apple’s position will adjust only slightly to account for the new force exerted on it. If Casi bit Calvin you would see his whole body slightly move as it adjusts to this new force acting on it and although it’s not a big movement, it is clearly visible when something is bit and that object would then move in sync with Casi’s head. Sorry for all that explaining, but that is the conclusion I have come to. Casi never bit Calvin to harm him. They were all fake little bites and I am sure you have seen that too. This really changes a lot for me in their relationship. I cannot say that I feel comfortable with the assessment that Casi beat or abused Calvin.
My new theory accounts for this as well. Casi did take. Alvin voluntarily and she began to get rough with him immediately. He constant redirecting his face so he was looking straight at her and only after that was aligned did she jump and try to rough handle him. This means that beating was never the goal or one of Casi’s intents. So my explanation for this has me feeling much more comfortable about it all.
Casi holds a position in that troop of monkeys and part of that position is that lower monkeys respect her. I use the term respect loosely because it just really means they have to cower in fear of her if she ever wants them to. Monkeys do follow this system pretty close I have noticed. What Casi did with Calvin, with those big angry glares and mouth open threatening to bite him, her whole goal was only to scare him. She was trying to put the fear of God in him because that is how monkeys demand their respect. Of course, Calvin had just been born and he really couldn’t know anything about the hierarchy at this point, but that didn’t matter to Casi. To her, Calvin was a monkey and if he didn’t respect her then she was going to demand that respect by having him fear her. The look on little Calvin’s face was sheer terror. He had to of been absolutely frightened by Casi doing this to him. But by him being frightened, she was accomplishing what she was trying to do. She didn’t want to kill him, she was preparing him for life in a troop of wild monkeys. Generally a newborn will have its mother to cling to for safety and it can learn these things over a longer period of time with the protection of its mother. Being that Calvin was abandoned, his path was going to have to be crash course. A monkeys mother is the only one that’s going to give them that patience and understanding that comes with the love of a mother. Calvin had to go through a crash course on how things work in a wild troop. Casi did what any monkey was going to do. Calvin didn’t know how to play the game or respect any other monkey and Casi was just trying to right this wrong because it is a certain way in a troop and that is what they stick to. She was just trying to bring harmony back to the troop and what she was ultimately doing was trying to save Calvin’s life in the end because there are many many monkeys in a wild troop that don’t allow a baby monkey to disrespect them at all even if they are newborn. They will kill them. In Calvin’s case, he was a male monkey and his life would definitely be at risk from the alpha male of the troop. Because all male monkeys will one day reach an age when they feel frisky enough to challenge the alpha male. To avoid this whenever possible, the alpha male will kill male baby monkeys, or if they happen to live into their teenage years they will be put out of the troop and all the males that have been banished from the troop will assemble somewhere off in the distance where the alpha male will not feel threatened by them.
The reality of this whole plan by Casi was that it was not successful. Every time Calvin bucked or threw a tantrum in Casi’s arms monkeys consider that a direct challenge to their superiority. Calvin got disciplined for this on so many occasions I feel like Casi’s hand probably hurt from pulling his hair so much. Little good did it do in the end, Calvin was a terrible monkey and he showed no respect. He was extremely demanding and incredibly obnoxious about everything when he didn’t get what he wanted right away. Casi did her best but ultimately walked away from him and let the troop deal with him. Dehydrating to death is just one of the many ways Calvin could have exited, but it was probably the most peaceful way he could have gone. If you consider what would have happened had Calvin been left out and he stared right into the eyes of the alpha male monkey as he walked by Calvin p’s head would have gotten disconnected from his body in a brutal death. A predator such as a wild boar could have grabbed him and that is a terrible way to die. The set the monkey down on the ground in front of them and as the monkey is terrified kicking and screaming that boar will chomp down and tear it’s face off and eat every bit of it. Then they will walk down while the monkey is seizing violently from shock and it will rip its hands off and eat them one by one so that there are two bloody stumps left. The boar will not stop until it has consumed the entire monkey alive, and that is probably as bad a way that a monkey could go. Yet that is how all wild boars eat and they regularly eat monkeys when they catch them. Life in the wild is brutal and every monkey that is born will not have what it takes to survive out there. Calvin had nothing to help his chances and he therefore succumbed to his circumstances in pretty quick order once Casi gave up on him.

You know what I think is funny is Casi just couldn’t stand Calvin’s face and she would often times just look down at him and you can see the disgust I her response. If she didn’t beat on him she would often times just squish the babies against her and take off in a dead sprint, but going nowhere in particular. She often did that thing you just mentioned of bouncing up and down on the tree branch and I think it really is a half hearted attempt to just shake him loose and leave him. Calvin never fell off when she did it though. And his grip held true when she was vertically flying down trees and flipping directions and leaping across tiny tree limbs. Calvin was born with huge hands and the fur of Casi’s coat would often times rip completely out before Calvin lost his grip. However, Calvin did fall off Casi a few times and funny enough it was usually when she was standing still and in flat ground. He all of a sudden couldn’t hang on and would be dangling screaming and crying barely holding on with one hand. It’s apparent that Calvin had a skill. It was theater. Whenever he found himself in an unfavorable position stuck to Casi’s ass or upside down on her back leg he could just let go, if the conditions were favorable, and scream and cry like he couldn’t hold on. This would force Casi to coddle him and usually just pick him up and squish him to her chest. Conveniently, the milk bar was located much closer in the adjusted position so it worked well for him in many occasions.

I saw a wild boar grab a monkey in another video and with the monkey squirming that boar tore its face off and ate it. With the monkey violently seizing due to shock the boar walked down and pulled both of the monkeys hands and lower arms off and ate them. The monkey got torn to pieces alive and eaten. Then I realize that is how every single wild boar eats in the wild and they often times eat monkeys. I think he looks stunned. Like he is in a daze because he can't believe he is actually back with Casi. He is a traumatized infant clinging to the only parent he has even known. It is sad actually.
She even makes him wait longer even though he is desperately hungry.
I am not a Calvin fan by any means but occasionally I feel a speck of sympathy.
As for the part where she is making him follow, when I first saw that clip I thought she was just forcing him to walk because he never wanted to walk on his own and he needed to practice.
But now when I see this sequence of events, it looks more like she is punishing him. He wouldn't get off her and obey her so she got mad. The fact that he is frantic with hunger doesn't matter to her. Obey first then eat.

Calvin was born with and was rejected bc of birth defects. The mother (as all wild animals do) knew he wouldn’t survive and she left him. The VO’s took him and offered him to Casi. The mother monkeys are deathly afraid of humans taking their babies, so Casi took him as a way to protect him from “humans” but I think she expected the mom to come along after, and she was annoyed that he was never claimed. While her daughter and all the other babies began to walk, start to learn foraging skills, try different solids, Calvin rejected all training, rejected all solid foods, and wanted to be carried and nursed all day every day. Casi was not equipped to raise an orphan with developmental delays that was NOT her own. The VO’s should have left him to die when his mother left him, OR if they wanted to help, they should have put him in a sanctuary and most likely would have had to tube feed him (as he wouldn’t even latch on a milk bottle when he was starving) and kept him there for the remainder of his days bc it was clear from birth he wouldn’t be able to survive in the wild. She was never mean to him. If u watch, even when she tries to place him on a branch (seen more in other videos) yes she would look aggressive, but it’s bc he was hysterically clinging to her…but once he grabbed the branches, if u watch, she would keep her hand as a support under him so he wouldn’t fall. I think she just didn’t understand why he would not try or learn like the other babies and she just wasn’t equipped to deal with it. Casi was the only monkey who tried to help other than Chico. The VO’s as well as most of the audience keep applying human logic and emotions to a situation involving WILD ANIMALS. He wasn’t starved nor was he abused. He was never meant to grow or flourish.

In the video Calvin just got back from being away from Casi a long time. Chiko had him first then Tachas had him so it was a long time he was away and he is very hungry. So hungry in fact that he might be in shock due to dehydration. Dehydration can cause hallucinations so it looks like he is not sure where he is when she first takes him back at the start.
Also, all these monkey infants are traumatized when separated from their parents and Casi was the only parent Calvin knew even though she was only a foster parent.
Even though Casi does take him back and proceeds to check him out she does not want to let him nurse right away. It has been stated by others and I agree with them that Casi was beginning the slow process of rejecting Calvin but Chiko's interference in the last segment of the event made her take him back and let him nurse.
The juveniles that keep harassing Casi have overstepped themselves. She aggressively shakes up Chiko, who seems to be the ringleader, even when she is sitting right beside her mother. Cesca offers no protection to her daughter and so Chiko has to get away. Casi shakes the branch to show her aggression. I have seen videos of alpha monkey Tara do that to show the others that she is the boss.
Casi is the daughter of Nina the previous alpha and when Nina lived Casi enjoyed the status of alpha as well which allowed her to be as aggressive as she wanted to. After her mothers death Casi's rank dropped but her capacity for aggression did not. Although she can be seen behaving herself when interacting with those who outrank her now when it comes to those who do not the fierce Casi is not afraid to let them know who is boss.

My Gosh, he was relentless and downright demanding to the point of being grossly abusive to Casi, this day. He was going to have his way or no way at all. Ive never seen any monkey bouncing flopping, jumping like a flea, and crawling ground like Satan's spawn and springing like a bungee cord. What bàby monkey you know sucked on arms? And he thought Casi was a tree takes the cake. I dont understand why Casi allowed him to leech off of her after that point. It shoukd have been a wrap. He was just pure evil that day.
It's ludicrous the people who watch these videos and still say poor starving Calvin. They overlook the fact that no starving baby has that much energy.

@@serenewhedon7359 you are correct. I watched videos and counted the minute and sometimes only seconds that Calvin spent suckling milk. Sometimes he spent as little as 8seconds b4 she pulled him off. Casi should have never touched calvin. she kept him from his mom. Once a baby monkey is with kidnappers long enough the mom will reject it because it smells like the kidnapper. Casi was an evil kidnapping alpha monkey who kidnapped other lower ranking monkeys babies and starved and beat them and their moms if they tried to get them back. Calvin was obsessed with eating because he hardly got to eat and the food was right in front of him. I have watched every video of calvin that i could find and you are absolutely right he was totally malnourished. Celene was born the day before calvin. you can see in the videos how she gets bigger than him The minute Casi stole calvin, he was doomed.
The way the other members of the troop help is so awesome to watch.. like at 5:19 Tana sees casi struggling with getting Calvin under control so she reaches in and grabs his tail and hamds it to casi.. its like she is trying to help saying something while givingher his tail, like "here use this, it will help." Lmao😂 they do help each other even during regular weaning if they see the mom having a hard time with the baby and not being able to get a grib to get it off often another female will help get the baby off like that... and of course little Chiko was a good babysitter for the troop.. all mo key troops have at least 1 younger adolescent female, who is the troops babysitter.. large troops have more than 1.. but this idea that chiko was kidnapping Calvin isn't true.. she wasn't taking him to keep she was trying to help.. in this video you see her trying to play woth Tanya also.. chiko had babysitting duty for all the babies not just calvin.. but due to Calvin not having a mom and casi always getting angry with him chiko just had babysitting duty for Calvin more than the others.. usually mother monkeys will have their troops babysitter take the baby's when mom is forging for food or wants to be groomed and rest in peace.. especially during times moms milk is out and baby is being impatient about waiting for it to refill again.. those are times the moms want them babysitters like chiko to take the baby from awhile.. but she wasnt just taking him as a toy and wasn't trying to keep him. Chiko actually tries in several videos to go near casi woth Calvin in attempting to return him so he can nurse but casi would either run off or get mad at chiko.. especially the last few days when casi left Calvin with chiko for good she was trying a lot to have casi take him back but casi was just done woth him by then. That's when the people took Calvin from chiko and sent him to an animals sanctuary.. but chiko was a very good caring babysitter.. everytime she heard Calvin cry she would go over near him to try and take him from casi so she would get a break and he would not get discipline anymore.. sometimes casi let chiko take him during those times, but often when she was in a discipline situation with him she would run chiko off.. but the fact that chiko even would recognize his cry and go there to try and help him and casi both shows she really was a sweet caring little monkey

Calvin was not starving to death. Have you ever seen a starving animal or human for that matter especially a baby have the energy to relentlessly fight and throw temper tantrums the way Calvin did that takes energy starving animals or humans don’t have energy like that he was not starving. Well, at least not up until the last three or four days Calvin was his own worst enemy. All he had to do was learning follow a few monkey rules and wait his turn. He wanted no part he showed no respect he paid the consequences.

1. Молоко у Каси вырабатывается только для одного. Селин растет. У нее растут зубы, кости, мышцы. Ей нужен кальций из молока матери. И то что она не дополучит сейчас даст знать во взрослом возрасте. А молока у Каси становиться меньше. По итогу вместо одного болезненного можен получить двух.
2. Благодаря Селин в организме Каси запустился процесс выработки молока. Как говорят англоизычные комментаторы молочный бар принадлежит Селин по праву рождения lol. Кельвин может угоститься, а не съедать все что мать на стол наметала.
3. Хорошо быть добрым и справедливым за чужой счет.

В год рождения Селин и Кальвина уменьшился поток туристов, а значит уменьшилось количество еды. Год был ковидный, карантийный. Каси могла выкормить только одного. Своего родного дитеныша...

Если бы Каси не одумалась, то Селин сдохла бы. А вот какая самка...так родная,самка, родная мать, у которой операторы украли Кэлвина, она бы и выключила, но Кэлвину не повезло, из него операторы решили сделать источник денег , долго умирающий жуткий источник, выбор операторов пал на него

Соответственно, чтобы насытиться Кальвин выпивал все молоко. И как новорождённый ему нужна теплая грудь и просто соска во рту. У него не было ни сантименров, ни угрызения совести. Только цель выжить.

That was NEVER going to happen. So let me get this straight, you're upset that the biological baby did what the biological baby was supposed to do? Calvin was the reject and should have been happy he was picked up at all and ever fed at all. Celine shared her food nicely and anytime it was her chance to nurse on HER OWN MOTHER'S MILK Calvin clawed at her face, ripped at her eyes, tore at her fur and tried to pull the tete from her nursing mouth. Thank God she grew stronger than the reject and could just shove his greedy ass aside and step on him like the discarded piece of trash he was. Calvin ended up with Chico because he was a greedy aggressive rejected leech and it was beautiful to watch him wither away eventually turning to dust.

most infant monkeys look malnourished, I've seen him get milk a good amount of times because I've watched a lot of his videos. He is strong as hell in most of them also. I think I saw a couple whee he looked sleepy but that was probably why, he was tired from all the wiggling around he does

At the beginning it allowed him to feed but later no longer, because the monkeys usually do not have enough milk to breastfeed two babies at the same time.

There are usually two alphas in a monkey troop. An alpha male and an alpha female. Although Casi's mother Nina was the previous alpha female, Casi herself is not the alpha although she does seem to hold a high position in the troop. That doesn't mean she is untouchable because it was Cesca the mother of Chiko who took Calvin from Casi and let Chiko have him for babysitting. Casi didn't like it but followed the rules of the troop and so Calvin's outings with Chiko began.
