Josh you should check out laconia state school in new hampshire. I've explored there for hours and there's some really cool spots on the campus like jail cells, a giant room with a pool, and a huge gymnasium
Josh is out here living the dream. Get that bus on the road!
Josh! Tour Halloween tshirts need to have all the Haunted locations listed on the back! Seriously, you’ve been to so many, list them and they will sell! ❤
Our Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights Michigan just closed this past 4th of July. So much of my teen memories were at Lakeside Mall. Please think about coming and checking it out. I'd love to see inside that mall again. I practically lived there in the 90s.
Josh why didn't you went back to Walmart to get propane and change with the empty propane
Honestly it's sad to see movie theaters and the malls closing being a kid growing up in the '90s we always went to the mall and always hung out it's so nostalgic to see things you grew up with going away That's just the progression of time at the end of the day we grow older and learn from all of our experiences.
I grew up going to this mall! Our family even had our photos taken at Sears. I knew so many people who worked there too. Thanks for making a video about it!
That's so cool That's why I like to make these videos so people can see their past and sort of relive it
Josh is documenting the past present and future and his videos are always filmed so lovely. Hi from Australia 😊
Same
Same!!!
Same bro
I own a clothing store in a strip mall. It's always so crazy seeing abandoned malls with so many fixtures left behind. Everything you find, even the mannequins and shopping carts, are so expensive. I scavenge for that stuff, repaint and refurbish it, then reuse it for displays. As a brick & mortar retailer, I can tell you shopping in person is making a resurgence. The next generation of shoppers wants to experience places like malls. We may start seeing a revival of them on the horizon :)
Wish you all luck! 🤘
Yes our malls in Nile’s Ohio are poppin fr fr
I’m afraid if operational costs aren’t alleviated soon, that resurgence won’t happen. Stores are closing at a higher rate than ever before, all over the US. It’s so sad to see, but I wish you and your business the very best ♥️
Hope you are right.Would love to see a resurgence.
That's only if the economy rebounds soon. Gonna be really bumpy first before it gets better.
The shock that washed over me when I opened UA-cam and this video popped up! Been watching you for awhile so to see you in my hometown is CRAZY! I’ve lived in The Berkshires my WHOLE life and this mall is home to some of my best memories as a kid. Would’ve loved to meet you while you were here, come back soon - there’s lots of haunted places around these parts!😉😂
I moved to Pittsfield a few years ago, I’d love to hear about more haunted places around here!
literally same!!
I grew up in Lenox! Went to this mall all the time!! ❤
This was my local mall. What a walk down memory lane. That one store you thought was Best Buy was Sears and next to that used to be an Old Navy before it closed. Best Buy and the bouncy house used to be Service Merchandise in the 90s. It's sad to see what it looks like now. I have many fond memories. Thank you guys for touring our abandoned mall and giving us some nostalgia.
@@aalcombright2996 and I remember a store where you could get photo portraits on coffee cups and t shirt at the Berkshire Mall.
Maybe I'm recalling incorrectly but didn't the recent bouncy house place used to be a GAP?
Also do you recall what major store used to be where Target is now located?
Remember getting free Popcorn there but I can't remember what chain it was!
@@raynbillson2601 it was an Ames before Target. I only remember it because I used to buy school clothes there.
@@raynbillson2601. It was a Hills dept store at one point.
Lol, Josh's is so excited to get on the road in his new bus that he forgets to fill up propane tank his only way of cooking and forgot his back pack then you want to make sure he filled up the gas tank 🤣🤣. Have an awesome trip😊
Damn, this video hit home with the nostalgia, I remember visiting this mall when I was a kid, seeing it all empty and abandoned is so surreal and sad.
Very surreal especially the video of the people walking through the mall years and years ago and him going through all the different stores gives me the chills
This is my childhood mall , I worked at this mall for 5 years until regal closed. I would’ve never believed Josh would explore a location near me !! Wow !!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤so happy Dave made it❤❤❤❤❤
Agree! ❤❤❤
I'm so excited for this series! Bummed that Dan couldn't be there but I support him in why couldn't get there.
Hi local here. I started working at the mall shortly after it opened in 1988. I worked at Arby's which closed in the early 90s
The place you thought used to be the cinema before you found it was actually 2 smaller stores and a hallway that had a cinabon . That store next to the huge space was a Sears . The Macy's was originally a Stigers. The place with the wrestling poster was an old navy for most of its life then was a huge collectable store then an independent wrestling venue.
The store with the camel sign was a CVS until about 95 or 96.
Down near the food court we had 2 computer stores (babages and electronics boutique) a A game stop and 2 book stores along with a lens crafters and a sabaros pizza.
right next to the doorway for target was a radio shack.
The place with the hockey player on the wall was an arcade right up until the mall closed but was never that great.
The target was a Hills department store until sometime in The late 90s.
Target owns the part of the building that houses it and the parking lot that abuts it and the regal cinema also bought the part of building it was housed in and I'm guessing they lost some dinero on that deal.
Btw Im pretty sure I actually saw your bus while you were in the area
As an addendum. The mall was literally choked with teenagers and young adults from opening until sometime in the later 90s. They used to come to hang out, hook up and smoke cigarettes away from their parents eyes and I'm pretty certain that there are a lot of people in their mid to late 30s whose parents met and fell in whatever passes for love in teenagers there.
@@galactic_socialistThat’s probably part of why malls are failing now, they don’t let kids or teens hang out. I remember they used to encourage it by having big midway arcades. And you could usually scrape together a bit for supper and maybe a pair of earrings or a t-shirt,but then you’d go to the mall to go holiday shopping, for special occasions, etc. Now that it’s not a hangout, there’s no reason for young people to want to shop there.
Filene's was there after Stigers and before Macey's and Ames was there after Hills
@@marlenealcombright2327 That's right! Filene's bought all the Steiger's locations when it closed, then Macy's bought Filene's. I worked at Steiger's. I wish I had known they were there... I would have shown them all the hiding spots.
My sister (who passed ) worked part time at Steiger's and Sears
I started watching you when I was 14 I'm now 20 and I still love ur vids😊
Wow that's awesome thank you so much for continuing to keep watching It means a lot
Berkshire resident here,
The mall closing is more complicated than online shopping. This area has a very high elderly population, so many elderly would go just to get out of the house. Anyways, the mall was sold in 2016 or 2017 to a new owner. He started to raise the rent to astronomical levels so many stores left because they didn't make enough to offset the rent. Target bought their store area outright as did regal. However, no one knew till later the new owner wasn't paying his taxes on the property. 3 years later, it was forcibly shut down because of the tax evasion. Dont know what happened to him after that. The state is in talks to potentially turn it into a Marijuana farm.
Was looking for a comment like this before I chimed in- this is exactly it. A lot of malls sold to private owners or smaller companies and they seriously jacked up rent and fell behind on taxes. Would be a lot different if not! The owner also tried to make additional $ on renting out some spaces to less conventional occupants toward the end (remember the wrestling club?) so strange.
Jersey resident here WITH THE ABANDONED MALLS by me ALL THEY ARE DOING IS KNOCKING IT DOWN and making fucking brand new apartments!!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Congratulations Josh your bus is awesome. ❤🇿🇦👌🫶🫶
I love this Mall 💓 so many great memories here. It's so sad to see it abandoned now.
That art in the middle gives me nostalgia I used to want to climb up on top
It’s so funny that you would say that I grew up going to the mall and that is exactly what I thought as a child!!
I’m so sorry your friends first time in a Walmart was in Pittsfield mass 😂😂 (born and raised here) so cool to see you making a video in my home town!
as someone who lives in berkshire county and hasn’t been in this mall for years, this is crazy to see you here and someone go inside !
If I ever end up in lanesborough again I'll have to keep an eye out for that sweet bus
I've worked all over that mall. I managed a few as well. So many memories. Christmas time was spectacular. It breaks my heart to see it in such disrepair
Hi josh,Steve, and Dave so pleased Dave made it, the bus looks outstanding, loved the first video, looking forward to more to come ❤🚐🇬🇧
This is going to be awsome especially with Steve and our very own world explorer
Cool. Bus is sharp. They did a nice job. Looks like a ghostbusters bus with those led lights.
There’s just something about this vlog!!! The vibes are immaculate 🎉 thank you so much Josh 😊
I have pictures of my son in that bounce house. I live in that town. So cool to see it empty now. Love watching you.
That's so cool. That's what I was saying in my video it's like I like seeing nostalgic stuff of people that had amazing time and places and then you see my videos and how dark and scary it kind of is now lol
The nostalgia🥺 The memories from the the old concessions stand!! So so cool x
Playing sad music when you were exploring the movie theater is really sad 😭 we’re all getting old..the fact that malls are slowly closing 😵💫
Interesting you came to my childhood mall. It’s so completely different than when it first opened. Sad malls have gone the way of the deserted towns.
Man i miss that place. The big open spot was where TIW held there wresting events. And the place you thought was a hockey store is the old arcade. The mall is still active with security. Due to target being active still the mall security walk the insode and outside once in a while to make sure people dont break in. But its so nostalgic its nice to take a stroll down memory lane.
What a absolute trip I grew up going here as a kid my parents met each other here they both worked in the mall I just have soooo many amazing memories here thank you for this video seeing this place again makes me feel like a kid again
This was so great & has got me excited for the rest of the road trip! I loved that the first 10 minutes was a bit of a bus life vlog. Perfect!
Hey Claire! 👋. It's been a while. How are you doing? I'm doing great and my summer was amazing. I did a lot of traveling over the summer. I hope everybody is well with you. Hugs. 🤗 💖
I'm so psyched that The Abandoned World Explorer Steve is here in the USA doing videos with you. Usually your tagging along with him. That was so funny you guys setting up the sleeping arrangements. This is going to be awesome.
The movie theater was fantastic and the arcade rocked 🎉
Time is flying man. I just turned 40 and it’s been the hardest age to accept. That in the next 10 years family will be passing away and the feeling that life is almost over and I still haven’t lived yet. Just be glad you aren’t stuck working at a call center bc it feels like jail. Keep living it up man. Time will keep flying and be over before you know it. Yeah that holister store I always felt like I wasn’t preppy or beautiful enough to go in it lol ironically now I buy the stuff online bc it’s great quality and usually on sale.
Damn this comment hits
Wow. You just put into words what I've been feeling but never Found the right words to describe it.
And so it begins. Truly looking forward to this US Tour. 🚌 Maybe Dan can join you all somewhere along the road. Good so see Dave, Steve and you breaking in the bus. Enjoy 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for exploring your hometown abandoned mall. Glad to see Steve back in 🇺🇸 and welcome Dave. Hopefully Dan (Exploring with Fighters) will meet you all in October. It is sad that our malls have closed down due to lack of visitors, not enough revenue, high prices and of course online shopping. Lots of employees lost their jobs or had to find a store that will accept their transfer. It was a nice getaway with family or friends to just check out shops and grab a bite to eat. We still have one but I am afraid it too will close down by 2025.
What was your favorite mall store? (Bath & Body works, Disney Store, K B Toys)
Favorite place to grab a bite to eat? (Cinnabon)
Across from the Payless shoes was Old Navy. To the left of Payless was a KB Toys (my childhood), down by the food court there was EB games which turned into GameStop (my teens). Then like Josh said as you become an adult you go for the food, clothes, movies, and whatever else. The arcade was dope as a kid as well. So many memories. Closest mall now is the Ingleside Mall and that is a good 1.5 hour drive.
The lights under the truck!! 😅😅 love it!
The Bus looks great. Awesome explore
Many thanks! 💯
as a kid from druggies in north adams it’s always cool seeing stuff going on round here seem like city’s just dying now
I’ve been watching you since 2017 and will never get tired of your explorations! Keep on growing Josh! ✊🏼
Peace Train Tees is a local business ran by some of my family! I remember always going here to visit my mom when she worked at The Children’s Place. I miss it so much
WOW Josh... that is THE COOLEST van E V E R!!! Great video. Sad to see these malls becoming memories. Malls have a vibe all their own.
I grew up for a while in that area, it's sad to see that mall finally closed!
ahhh i'm so happy that Steve is going with you~~
love this team and duo!!! can't wait for more content!!!
Bro!!! I'm telling you it's been awhile since I've been really excited seeing one of your vids starting!! It made me so happy seeing Dave there. Please let him know how extremely awesome it is seeing him make it!!! Also Steve and junior!!! Junior sticking around to explore man I was excited 💯 thank you guys for great entertainment!!!
Cool explore. Definitely spent some time at the local malls in the 90's. Safe travels. Much love from Buffalo NY 💕
damn bro watching this fills me with so much nostalgia n sadness in a way... especially seeing that mall-o-ween sign, i used to trick or treat at the mall when I was a kid lol.
but yea pretty much all malls in the US have the same layout so it was like u were walking thru my local mall, but abandoned. sad to know mall culture is dying out, but that's life i suppose.
thanks for the banger vid josh!
Grew up in this mall, hanging out with friends movie theaters family pictures at Sears clothes shopping first dates. Pure nostalgia. And with always miss the Berkshire mall
Had a thought, the reason you see so much Christmas decorations in abandoned malls is because Christmas is peak sale season, and most malls likely shut down after, making that last bit of profit before shutting their doors forever in mid Jan - mid Feb
Oh wow yeah this is very true
Josh, dude I love how enthusiastic and positive you are in all your videos, it seriously inspires me so much.. your attitude and thirst to live life and explore the world are so EXCELLENT and your channel is my go-to when I need to smile you're the real deal man sending you back all the positivity you've given to me!!!!
Thanks for that, Josh. Not only did I watch the concrete get poured for that mall in the eighties, but had two of my first retail jobs there in the nineties.
The 1st Store You Thought Was BestBuy Was Sears, I Have Been To This Location A Handful Of Times Have Not Lived In Massachusetts In Years So Didn’t Know It Closed Amazing VIDEO!
Such an amazing channel my dude! I love the enthusiasm and passion! Keep up the awesome content!
Thank you so much
DUDE NO WAY , I watch you all the time and when I was up there the other day going to target and I saw the van and I thought someone’s probably vining a video , HAD NO CLUE IT WAS YOU
he prefilmed this lol
And how do u know? @@angelsky9405
That was an awesome episode! The bus looks great! So cool how Dave came over for the roadtrip, looking forward to some crazy spooky content coming up for October!!
It's going to be for back to back ghost videos for October currently filming them as we speak
@@ExploringWithJosh Cannot wait!
there's just something about shopping in-person that you cannot get with online, meeting people, finding good bargains etc you can't get that online so easily.
i had the opportunity to meets josh awhile back he was such an amazing person , the odds of me meeting him at an old abandoned mansion in Liberty NY was unreal tbh. From watching you while i was a kid to watching you now and meeting you when i was a teenage is crazy to me!! Now bro got a whole bus been going at it for years grind dont stop congrats brother
I remember watching you as a kid now ima. Full grown adult and I still enjoy your videos they keep me up at night and that’s a good thing cuz it helps me fix my sleep schedule when it gets messed up one of these days I’m gonna start exploring abounded buildings again like I use to as a kid much love from Wisconsin 🙏💯.
This was so cool. Our Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights Michigan just closed this past 4th of July. So much of my teen memories were at Lakeside Mall. Please think about coming and checking it out. I'd love to see inside that mall again. I practically lived there in the 90s.
This is my hometown mall crazy to see you here great video.
Happy for you man!!! ❤
Hey, local to the area here! Used to go to this mall all the time as a kid! Tons of fun memories of this place. That place at 37:25 was the arcade. I remember in the early 2000s when DDR got popular that place had a machine and it was always packed :D tons of time spent in that place with friends lol
I am so glad you made this video. I went there all the time as a child. I remember working at a couple of stores at this mall. Just watching this video brought back so many memories.
I am now starting to explore more abandoned places myself because of you, I watched you when I was way younger! You are sooo close to my home town! Would love to tell you a place to explore it’s super cool!
So excited for you! Hope this van brings you so much more adventure and happiness 🎉
i grew up going to this mall back when they still had that bouncy house-park , i remember going to see jurrasic world with my father there and thinking that it was the best place ever lmao . its sad to see it in the state its in today .
thank you for immortalizing this in a proper form , not many people make videos on the berkshires it seems , and seeing one i connect to so closely is even rarer .
Lol Joshhhh how do you forget the propane tank 😂
You got to come to Florida the Abandoned is crazy, especially in Marion county District
Oh my God. When I was a younger adult we went to this mall and it was a big deal for us.
The fact that you would pick this place for your video is so surprising since we had actually gone there. It was either late 90's or early 2000's we visited. It looks so eerie now. Thanks for sharing.
We have a Berkshire Mall down here in PA. It's suffering the same fate
I'd suggest staying at RV camping places out in the middle of nowhere! That's a whole adventure in itself! Hope to see you in Iowa!!
Oh my god I grew up in this mall! So much of my childhood was spent here! The memories that came flooding back watching this! I used to get my first makeup in that dollar store!! The stores you didn’t know were old navy, Lindt, Best Buy, the arcade and a subway and the hotdog place that you went to was first a pretzel place that was honestly the best part of that mall that was the first thing I’d ask my mom for every time we went, a slushy and a pretzel with cheese and my sister would get the sugar and cinnamon ones with icing. It was so exciting! So crazy to see how many other people who watch you also came here as kids!! Didn’t know where I lived was so on the map!! Thought it was a small town! My mom still has pictures of me and my sister sitting on Santa’s lap at that mall!! We hated it! lol and I still have clothes I bought at the old Aeropostale probably 15 years ago now!! It’s crazy how we treated going to the mall back then my mom took us there as such a treat! My sister, my mom and I would go there for Christmas shopping and honestly just to hang out! When I got a little bit older, my friends and I would hang out there constantly! there was this amazing restaurant called Little Tokyo, which was the only place that people went to in that food court because it was the only place that had good food! I remember every time we went there my sister would always get bourbon chicken and I would always get barbecue spareribs with Mom and we’d always get a cherry vanilla Coke to share and then afterward we would go to that smoothie place on the corner and get a piña colada smoothie which was the most delicious thing ever! and sometimes if we had a lot of extra money, we go to that coffee shop near Best Buy which was way too pricey in my opinion, but honestly had the best stuff! wow, thank you for going here. Nostalgia for me. Amazing video and such a coincidence!!!! did you know about the prison that’s nearby? Also, I heard a big part of the reason why this place went under was the rent prices that they were charging.
God, I loved this mall so much when I was younger. It was so sad to see it shut down 😢
My church congregated in a old beauty parlor in a mall, & it was AWESOME. The church collapsed the old beauty parlor is a weird video games store. Nostalgia is real though just looking at the old mall.
OMG! I've only watched the first part of this video and you guys had me laughing so much, you made my day guys. I'm like you Josh I love going to the Mall to shop and sometimes just trying clothes on is a ball and finally going to the eatery and getting food with my friends is a blast. Okay back to the video. LOL
I love seeing long term friends like Steve ❤❤❤
First of all, STOKED for the van trip videos!!! Its been a long time coming. I'm sure it's been worth the wait. Second, I can't even imagine the feelings you experience exploring YOUR own mall, Just like YOUR old school. So freak cool, Josh. Living the life bother.
I just finished watching this video WOW! great video it's sad how malls are disappearing, there used to be one down the road from me they tore it down and built stand alone stores there. There's another mall about 15 mins. away and I was there the other day it's a two story mall and there are 19 stores closed on the upper level and 16 on the bottom level. I filmed some of it because I wanted to keep the memory for myself. Thank you Josh, Dave and Steve take care.
I am looking forward to this new journey with you.
Hi Josh and crew, I'm from Westfield Mass, and I've only been to that mall once. I used to go to the outlet mall in Lee and also the Holyoke mall. Those are my childhood malls.
My childhood mall was torn down. Makes me so sad. I love these videos, they always remind me of the mall in Silent Hill
The store with the star was an Old Navy then it closed. The local wrestling hosted their events there. The store you thought was Best Buy at first was actually sears. That was journeys where you question about. The sign where the camel cigarettes, that store was CVS. And yes that was Taco Bell! Great video this was the hang out in high school.
I grew up in Adams just 20 min away maybe. So many memories there. I remember so much. For sure I have over 20 years of memories. I rember going there during middle and high school. Used to be the local hangout for all the teens. Thanks as I have t seen it in years as I moved away to Springfield ma almost 10ish years ago now
My grandfather lived in Peru (I lived there for a short while, when I was younger). We would go to this mall, all the time. I watched it change, so much, throughout my life. I haven't been there, since 2011. Shortly after we visited there, the last time, I found out that they shut down the Best Buy. I had thought about transferring to that BBY and moving my family up to MA. I didn't realize that the Berkshire Mall had shut down, until today. Sad to see, but so many memories with my wife, my brothers, and my mom.
OMG I grew up going to that mall! I remember going to that mall all the time as a kid. I loved the food and drinks, and had lots of fun shopping for clothes, dolls, and even playing in the bounce house area they had for kids. I even remember doing the bam bozal challenge at one of the tables with my sister. It was great times back then. But to give people a little more context, the reason for the downfall is because of the owners. They didn't pay the taxes on the mall so it slowly went to ruin. I remember the stores going out too, one by one each store went out and then there was nothing left except lost dreams. Also, I think I remember there being talks of bringing the mall back few years ago but nothing came of it sadly.
Will forever miss all the places that shut down.
This is my childhood mall too! So sad to see it abandoned now. Lots of fond memories with my family and friends getting Christmas presents and just hanging out when we all got our licenses. So cool to see it like this though!
I love the old vids you throw in its fantastic.
Great stuff, so glad you got to see in the theater, wild they removed all the seats
The fact that you parked this IMMACULATELY!!!!!!!! 😮💨
So cool and very interesting ❤ living the dream, Josh...living the dream. Thank you for the inspiration 🙏
The big store with the two huge stars on the floor was Old Navy dude. Movie theater is by the food court. The place you thought was Best Buy was Sears.
Man, i have only been here once back in 2016. Its insane to see it like this
This mall was actually opened in 1988; I remember this mall when I was a kid in the early 90s. I remember Hills, radio shack, and the candy store: pinches and pounds. This mall was my childhood! I bought my Sega Genesis at service merchandise, and had coffee at the little coffee shop right outside that store! I went back to that mall like months before it closed in the late 2010s -I think- and that crazy curly cue 3D artwork was still hanging from the ceiling! That stuff has been there since the 80s!!! I miss that place!
wow this video brought back so many memories i cried when i was the thumbnail, the best childhood ever here
My local mall haven’t seen inside of this place for years thank you so much for making this‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️👏🏾
as someone who lives here target aint closing... it has its own contract and has no problem with business...
Yep, I know what you mean with Best Buy having a specific smell in store. Same goes for Target. Very distinct smell right as you walk in.
I’m super shocked at all the inflatable things in that place, why would the company not take them? Those are worth thousands of dollars! Even if company went out of business they could have sold them. That kind of waste just trips me out when I see these videos. Love the take along, thank you! We still have one regular mall here and several outdoor malls and they do a lot of business.
