super simple version - Labour has long refused to put forth a Gaza cease-fire motion, so Starmer was about to have over 100 of his MP's vote for a cease-fire motion put forward by the SNP (which would have been very embarrassing for Starmer). So Starmer hurried up and wrote a watered down version of the SNP's motion and at the last minute Hoyle allowed Starmer to have a vote on it, even though it wasn't Labour's turn. Worse, Hoyle required the Starmer version to be voted on first, which meant if it passed, there would be no vote held for the SNP motion, at all, even though the day was reserved exclusively as 'SNP opposition day.' It was a tremendous favor to Starmer, which is why he can be seen/heard thanking Hoyle as he scurried out.
why did they go through several deputy speakers. is it tradition that speakers switch over throughout one sitting? or did this just happen because of the anger towards Lindsay so he was moved off the chair?
Surely the main point is that Israel don't give a toss about what the UK Parliament says anyway!
The UK really isn't that important any more.
Thanks for the great contribution, the Middle East was desperately waiting on your vote
If anyone else is wondering, the Gaza debate starts at 1:43:15

I wonder, did Lindsay Hoyle pick her as his deputy so he would look wildly competent by contrast?
