D colony. I found a carebara queen with some workers after 2 months they have alot of worker but i dont know what sp it is i saw one from google same queen and worker but major no. but he didn't tell the sp but i will keep it till it does nuptial flight and the fire ants are doing good thanks to u and other antyoutubers for making. Me a antkeeper i find ants intresting as a kid. I love to inspect ants hunting their food and making their nest thank you and other youtubers for making me a antkeeper.❤

Awesome video and great to see another build. I have had success removing nests from moulds by putting the whole thing in the freezer to cool down and then pouring warm water on the acrylic parts. The acrylic expands quickly and will allow the nest to pop out.

I like the intro in the middle. Also I was thinking if you could use parchment paper instead of oil. You’re half pieces are better of course.

Imprloetant needs when you start keeping ants: 1.) ventilation 2.) humidity 3.) condensation 4,) heating cable at the edge of the nest parts 5.) water feeders and test tubes for hydration ☝️ 5.) harvester ants require bird seeds 6.) Fruit is safer than honey and sugar
Thanks for sharing buddy, but it's not applicable on all places. Like here on the tropics we don't use heat mats or cables as the temperature is already too much. But I agree with the most though it varies on specie like for the condensation. For the carbs source I only give fruits occasionally, most of the time sugar water or honey. Especially on massive colonies.

Hello all ;) do you know what type of sand is used? Is it ok to use sand from rivers, put it in freezer 1st before using it? Thanks for all the videos and all the inspiration you are giving us
Yes you can buddy, I used sand for aquarium sometimes silica sand.

Hey D colony! Im making something similar to this and the fishtank formucarium, and i was wondering what you use for the watering straws? They look like lolipop sticks but idk!
Their 4mm drinking straw buddy. The one on lollipop would work too as long as you got a drill bit for it's diameter.
It amazes me how you can envision exactly how the chambers will look based on where you put the sand; my brain can’t take the reverse engineering 😂😂

I'm 9 @dcolony and have try keeping colony in a testube. I'm really interested. Can u make a diy ant farm that can kids can make? I don't have much money to spend so the cheaper is much better.

Hi d colony I have a question. What is the use water tower in the nesting?
It's for humidity buddy, water evaporates makes the nest humid.
If you buy ferrero rocher in germany the plastic is soft, this ferrero rocher plastic he is using is not available everywhere. On the balkans you could probably buy the hard plastic ferrero(its 2.class compared to german 1.class stuff) so just so you know guys, because i already made nests out of this plastic before this channel made videos about it and i have encountered this problem

Not perfect buddy but I did it Manually using a coping saw.
like your set ups sometimes my mind goes blank on how you do this I use light weight block which sucks water and my ants always drying out and going to ant heaven You have given me some ideas maybe drilling the entire length and filling with sand could help me solve this problem

Hi, it won't sleep through buddy. Plaster is quick drying so I'm not sure if that would be a problem or will make things easier.

It's a local brand name ABC tile grout buddy.

Yes buddy, you can add drinking tube and they'll be almost identical 😁.
The steel mesh circular is called a water tower. It is for humidity, not hydration ☝️ You still need to give the ants water feeders and test tubes with drinking water 😤 The growth chamber water tower is only for the queen and her brood to grow safely
That's work for both buddy, they can drink from it if you fill it with enough water, specially the one with downside curve mesh. But adding water feeders still needed.

It's sintra board buddy.

If you mean the brand buddy, I'm using ABC sanded tile grout.

Can you show/tell us which sanded grout you use? Also, don't grouts already come in many colors and shades, why do you have to color it?
I only have color white and this light brown on the vid buddy. I use ABC tile grout brand but I believe it's a local product only available in the Philippines. Maybe I'll make a short vid about this soon since we had some of our buddies askin as well.

Hey D, i was on Amazon looking up some molds.... because I am constantly trying to find a NO Hot glue method and came across this. B0B4DP194J. That is the item number Amazon in the state uses. Ill post the name next. Just wanted to get your thoughts on it. There are a few other cheaper types as well that interlock but still use clips.
