Thank you very much for the fantastic educational video. It really takes a big heart to spend personal time making content like this for the benefit of people out there, totally free. Thanks once again.
By far, one of the most comprehensive and easy-to-digest explanation of ui/ux design I have watched. I have been considering the 2 but never really knew which one to pursue. After watching this video, I am now certain ui is my path! Thanks!!!!
Finally I understand the difference between UI and UX design! I work as a graphic designer for a private university, and I think that both principles could come in VERY handy! I'm definitely going to look into doing a beginner's course, and I'm definitely going to check out the links. THANK YOU!
I taught a university class for computer science students around 2000 called “End User Computing.” We touched on stuff they didn’t get in their programming classes, including UX/UI, documentation, support, and so forth. I was the first one I knew to use the Don Norman and Steve Krug books in a class. Glad to know they’re still seen as good resources. Great video! Thanks.
Wow, I'm a graphic designer switching over to web developer, and I've been avoiding UI UX jobs when applying! This video made it a lot easier to understand UI UX, and I'm going to start applying to them as well!

Just what I am looking for, a clear explanation, using layman's term, on the difference between UX and UI design. It takes a special talent to help people understand how something works by mixing logical, analytical, and visual presentations altogether. Great job!

@Jesse Showalter: Thank you for making and sharing this video. I have a couple of questions. 1) Is it necessary to learn graphic designing before becoming a UI designer? Or are there other programs or courses having little to do or not related to graphic designing that you can take? 2) Do you need to become a UI designer before becoming a web designer and/or front end developer? 3) What is the difference between a UI designer, Web designer and Front end developer? 4) Out of the four job positions that I mentioned in #3, which one gets paid the most?
At last. Bulls eye. I asked nearly 50 people this question, including course instructors of UI/UX. they all gave me a broad answer but nothing really as clear. It's a real shame. But you really did demystify the puzzle. Love the video. Well done.

Thank you for this video! The best explanation for someone who needs an enhanced career change. Learning the skills are important and then earning career titles will come over time. It's all about puzzling things together. It's never just one thing, but to be multi-skilled in similar fields of digital design and then focusing on what will drive results. As Graphic Design became more widely used on job sites, along with it are needing many skills. I like to think like an engineer, but I like for things to be creative. At first, I just created things because it looked good and meeting people's requests. As years passed by, I became more analytical about things and questioned why does it work? What's the purpose? Coding is just another skill and sometimes it's challenging to keep up with, but I think UI is the answer for me as I am a very visual person, but logical so that's where I can learn the UX side of things. Front End development or Web Design are areas that I have dove into already, but haven't held jobs in those areas. UX is the blueprint, UI us the construction worker. You have great analogies, but am I explaining that right? Thank you! I have been doing a lot of career researching in the past 2 or 3 years and this one video confirmed what I want to end up doing in my next phase of a design career. I always had a goal in my mind and it's to work with a team of designers and developers. UI/UX is the way to go about it.
Thank you for the clarification!!! I definitely am more intrigued in UX but I do understand that UX and UI comes hand in hand these days. I am very interested in making the user experience more enjoyable , fixing little issues that I see in all in my apps and devices 😂 I definitely have a problem solver state of mind
The idea that UX and UI designers are distinct roles is a fallacy in my experience. Most often the scope of your role is dictated by the team. If a Product Manager or others define the product and even do wireframes, then often you will be essentially pushed more toward implementing the UI of that product as opposed to designing what the product is, e.g. what needs are being solved by it. Realistically you can be hired under either title and your role may encompass both or just UI. I work at a large tech company and our roles don’t breakdown between UI or UX, instead larger well-resourced teams are likely to have a separate VizD or a UX writer or Content Strategist instead.
I'm a 14 yr old who's strong skill is being creative. Cuz i live in a poor family right now. I am trying to find myself a high salary job. This vid helped me much, ty!

Awesome video! Very insightful - thank you Jesse!
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the thorough breakdown...SMILE!!!
🤘🏻
Basically like a colouring book - UX is deciding and drawing the barebone structure and UI is the colouring and presentation part
you could think about it like that
This video just chance my mind to go more for UI then UX cause I’m more visual and creative you know !! Thanks you are very cute 💖
