That really set the bar for his decline throughout the 90s that ultimately wound up with him being the worst Xman in the 2000s and a lunatic in the 2010s.
JazGalaxy The good X-Men stuff is really 1965 to 1991. X-Men #1-3 was good but Cyclops was not featured that much. In many ways it was Magneto's story. Then there was the rest of the 90s moving forward but it wasn't the same without Claremont.
I always thought the most interesting thing about Scott was that Xavier essentially raised him as a child soldier for his elite tactical team and he doesn't seem to have much of a concept of self beyond the team or the mission.
Scott Summers isn't just leader of The X-Men. People seem to think he's just mutant Captain America. Scott Summers is leader of the *entire* mutant race.
@@narenbaradwaj5058 he is more than that. He has a piece of apocalypse in his head and his changes and evolution to be the leader can never be achieved without Emma's help. Emma was molded into the woman she is now by Shaw himself. Scott is the amalgamation of all the best mutant leaders combined. And he is his own man who never takes lessons from other people like Storm or even Wolverine. If Beast is someone who does what he wants and when he wants to, Scott does what is necessary and when it is appropriate to
He's more than even that. Scott Summers in the literal embodiment the loneliness that comes with being an outcast. He's carried with himself a loneliness for his entire life. He thought he lost his brother, his parents, and his life when he went to the orphanage. Then he was brought to the X-Men, and, for the first time in his life, he fit in. However, the old team is soon leaves and Scott must try to lead a whole new team. It took some time but he soon fit into that team too. Scott is the leader of the X-Men not because he's a "natural born leader", but rather because he doesn't want to loose the only group of people that's ever accepted him. Unfortunately, to do that he has to isolate himself from the rest of his people to the role of stoic leader.
Am I weird if I missed the part of the intro where CBG19 and robot are sitting on the couch and the throw their hands in the air like they just don't care? Because I really missed that part...
I don't think it was just the movies that sabotaged Cyclops, the comics did a pretty good job of that themselves. Marvel seem to have a problem recently with characters who do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Just look to the other Summer brother, Alex, who has gone from a confident leader, to being picked by Captain America to lead a team of Avengers, to being a loser that no-one wants to bother with. Even Charles Xavier has suffered the same fate in the comics. He's gone from a guy who wanted nothing more than humans and mutants to live together peacefully to an absolute arsehole.
What kind of garbage kid watches the X-Men cartoon and decides garbage Cyclops is his favorite character? Let me guess you were also President of the Grade School Republicans?
Cyclops Is Better Than Wolverine I feel the same way about storm. I’ve been obsessed with her since I was little kid and I could never get enough and the movies just did nothing with her at all and just made her a gimmicky side player.
After watching this video, I HAD to subscribe. Everything she said is right on the money. Yes, the movies are to blame for Cyclops lack of respect. Because of them we’ve got a whole generation of people that have no idea how iconic the character of Scott Summers is. Tormented, Imperfect, Conflicted, yet still fights for mutants to the very best of his ability. He is the mutant savior, no questions asked. Such an amazing character. Marvel Studios MUST get him right. #CyclopswasRight #JusticeforScottSummers #TheTrueXman
Kye Dysarthria Sure, some may not. If you’re looking for a golden boy, Cyclops ain’t it (neither is Wolverine). But most people I’ve talked to don’t know him from the source material, only by his displayal on the big screen. Such a shame.
@@SuperWolsey nope he didn't, he is still being a dick and reckless, each new issue fo X-Men another mutant dies and it his fault. He is still trying to be all military and shit.
The character development of Cyclops over the last decade or so has made him one of the most complex and compellingly x-men ever! He’s WAY more interesting than Wolverine
We need a Winter Soldier type film for Cyclops as leader, then everyone will respect him like they do Cap. Great vid, frustrating to see people put down Cyces based on films that didnt even represent him correctly. For anyone that didnt watch X-men evolution growing up, please do, it has some great writing and development for Cyces and other X-Men.
I'm not sure if it's just the films that did Scott a disservice, the writers who did the Cyclops killing Xavier storyline, did the character a grave evil. Also, having Scott have an affair with Emma Frost wasn't good either. I miss the old Scott.
Cyclops has been my favourite since I was a kid. Not Wolverine, Storm or Cable. Cyclops. And let me tell you, it’s been hard being his fan for a long time.
If you want a great depiction of Cyclops on the X men, watch X-men Evolution. It follows Cyclops as a teenager, trying to become a good leader while also trying to control his powers.
It was said that Kevin Feigi's first priority will be Wolverine as he loves the character 🙄. I hope that's not the case, because it'll just be the FOX tragedy all over again.
I don't even want to see Wolverine in these movies. Not for a long time at least. You can't just replace Hugh Jackman. Let him rest and give the other characters their chance, then in 5-10 years hype up his return after everyone else is established and beloved.
I would love to see cyclops get the Captain America MCU treatment where he’s very righteous and believes in the people (mutant alikes) a true leader and very tactical
Yeah, I think they (and Superman) are very much alike in that they are the boy scout type of hero; they are seen as "boring". And you will never convince me that James Marsden couldn't have been for Cyclops what Chris Evans is for Cap; it bums me out that they wasted Marsden like that. At some point they're going to finally get Cyclops (and the X-Men right), but unfortunately it'll have to be with somebody else. Wasted potential.
I agree before he was played out to be a weakling or an a-hole i remember him as a great leader that has a few complicated issues but still a great leader. The love story between him and Jean was amazing as well....of course things got weird later but when i was reading the comics through the phoenix era it was amazing. Comic book girl is right on here the movies represented him in a crap way.
@@joshuahough8265 I was just talking about how likeable and charming he is. I'd point to "Sex Drive" as the movie that opened my eyes to that. Although yeah, in terms of acting, it seems pretty clear he was over-qualified for the X-Men movies.
SchulzEricT it’s just for years he was the guy who lost the girl or was the foil for the guy trying to get the girl. Nothing more. It was a stupid way to play him. I blame Singer for doubling down on Wolverine. There is two or so storylines that can focus on him as central character as Comic book girl states then nothing else.
Me too in fact the Wolverine hype pretty much ruined ever character from Gambit to Rogue to Colossus (thank God for Deadpool helping Colossus). Singer's dick riding of Wolverine actually made me hate the character Wolverine for some time.
they didnt do them right.. if the love triangle between jean was their and the leadership grudge.. it would have been alot better.. but Fox rushed their stories.. even though they were okay,.. there was no character development.
What’s funny is that I loved reading about Wolverine back when I was a kid, but I always loved Cyclops mainly because he was so honorable and dedicated to “the dream”...but the movies got ALL of the X-Men wrong...not just Scott
This carried over into the comics as well. The 90s cartoon was my gateway to the comics, but after the movies the comics tried to follow that model and I quit reading soon after. I think most of the problems people have with Cyclops, even if related to comics, come from this unfortunate era.
@8:00 mark you're 100% right. Instead of making the movies about the team..... They made it about Wolverine/Hugh Jackman... And then also about Mystique/Jennifer Lawrence
Cyclops should have been the main character of The Last Stand since Jean was the Phoenix and him having to fight her is more personal for him than it is for Wolverine, but nah let's kill him offscreen. Let's hope that future movies don't have this issue.
@@Xesthan I think for the sake of x-men and wolverine that x men should be first established without wolverine, and wolverine just be either introduced in his own solo film in the mcu or have him make his debut in the next avengers film. this way both can be established differently than they were before on the big screen, while giving the x men a chance to shine as a team vs having everyone fixated on wolverine. not saying wolverine shouldn't join the x men at some point as he should. just not right away is what im saying.
*(sigh)* Personally, I'm still _kinda_ sad that the Singer _X-Men_ films made younger me think that everyone hates Cyclops. As a kid he was probably my favourite character *:(*
It wasn't the Singer movies that did it. It's been there for a long time, and even people who actually read the books thought that for the longest time. I don't think Cyclops was really that interesting until after after House of M. He's got SOME interesting things in his story for sure, but it was more about how he showed up as a character. Rigid to all hell one second... until he realizes he fucked up and then he's all in his head until whatever codependent partner he's with at the time comes and rescues his emotional state. The only thing that makes him relevant is how much the Summers family was expanded upon... he isn't interesting, his family is.
@@GreenH0cker yeah exactly. The "everyone hates Cyclops" thing goes back so far, there are jokes about it in early 80s Marvel. Marvel even sold t-shirts at conventions that just said "I hate Cyclops"
Agree 100%. Cyclops was a favorite of mine when I was reading a LOT of X-men in the 90s. I did like Cyclops a lot in the first few storylines of Ultimate X-men.
The first X-Men movies focus shifted on Wolverine more when Hugh Jackman's career took off. Same thing happened to the prequels with the focus on Mystique with Jennifer Lawrence career taking off after X Men First Class. People wanted more of X-Men instead we got Wolverine/Mystique and these other mutants.
Scott is the Captain America of the Mutant race. Come at me haters. Also in Children of the Atom Capcom game...he's Ryu. Gene Splice! Optic Blast! He literally has a hadouken and shoryuken. Who's Ryu? Cyclops. Wolverine is Blanka. Case closed on importance.
What makes Cyclops cool is that he is more than just a boy-scout archetype, he is discipline-incarnate. More importantly, he is forced to be discipline incarnate. As was mentioned at the 15-minute mark, one slip-up and his powers start hurting people. All the best Cyclops moments focus on that fact....alas, the first few movies really didn't focus on that aspect of him...
Cyclops is the Captain America of the X-Men and the MCU would just need to establish that before proceeding to fellate Wolverine as they inevitably will. But he isn't the greatest tragedy of the existing X-Men movies. That would be Storm. Then Cyclops. Then Rogue.
Thank you! I got into comics around the time they were pushing the whole "Cyclops is a terrorist" thing and as I'm reading I see him just doing typical X-Men stuff. Curiosity got the better of me and I finally wanted to know what specifically he did that led to this. So I read the 2012 AvX and dear lord aside from being utterly terrible there is no reason Cyclops can even be remotely considered the bad guy. He's literally using mutant powers to end hunger and rehabilitating villains to solve the energy crisis. And the whole time the Avengers are treating him like Red Skull. It's the whole reason I have a "Cyclops was right" shirt. He is and continues to be not only one of my favorite X-Men but one of my favorite Marvel heroes.
The Cyclops I grew up with, was the one from the X-Men cartoon series in the 90s. A tall imposing character with a commanding voice. Kind of like Captain America, a born leader. The Cyclops Fox gave us I couldn't take seriously.
Cyclops is a tactical genius. He got two of the most powerful beautiful woman in all of marvel universe to fall in love with him. Also they’re both physic so you gotta be a solid dude to make that work.
Psylocke tried and failed back around the launch of X-men series 1 in the early 90s. She tried to pass it off as the whole body switch / memories kwannon fiasco when Jean confronted her but nah, she wanted a bit of cyclops really. He's a psychics kryptonite.
Cyclops has low key been bad ass...I hope Marvel does right by him He deserves better than being the N-Sync listening dork to Wolverine's cool biker dude
PSW1980 X Yeah...him loosening up is being caught off guard and accidentally shooting someone’s face off with his optic blast. Didn’t you watch the video?
@@PSWX-do4wj as Wolverine pointed out. "Sometimes I forget Summers, why you're still in charge. I forget that you basically have a nuke in your head." Those movies did a good job of forgetting the scope of Cyke's modern powers. The dude is a walking explosion. Him saying to the Juggernaut that he could take a mountain down might have once been hyperbole but it hasn't been for a long time now. He can't loosen up, because he can't control himself and him not controlling himself means he blows up city blocks by looking at them. Sure there are more powerful X-Men, but most of them don't have the same sort of traumas surrounding their powers that he has. The closest is Gambit and Gambit had a piece of his brain cut out so that he could have more control.
I always liked Cyclops. As someone who had to wear eye glasses from a very young age it was awesome to see a character who also had to wear glasses to see but, they also turned his curse into an asset, he was the team leader, and he had the smoking hot redhead who was all about him. A character for every little glasses wearing boy to look up to.
I agree 100% with you. I remember when X-Men Origins: Wolverine was coming out, my friends we like, “Finally a Wolverine movie” while I was like, “What are you talking about? There already were three Wolverine movies: X-Men 1,2,and 3” and Nightcrawler should have been a fun love, show off, kid at heart, happy go lucky, swashbuckler, instead of a Debbie Downer.
I’m also hoping that they FINALLY get Storm right too. The Halle Berry version has just never done her justice in appearance, strength, or personality... 🙄🤷🏾♂️
Ron Price Halle Berry never really appealed to me on the attractiveness front. I was even more disappointed with her/Singer’s version of “Storm”. A far cry from the woman that defeated Cyclops for leadership of the X-Men...WITH NO POWERS.
@Ryan Stewart Casting too. Let's be honest, Halle Berry is good and all, but she's not the strong and powerful Storm we know. Danai Gurira (Okoye in Black Panther) or Simone Messick (Misty Knight in Luke Cage) would give all that weight we need for her character.
Actually I didn't think Halle was great until the 3rd of the franchise...she was more of a leader in that one , I guess because Scott was falling apart
So agree with u. So sick of Fox focusing on Wolverine and screwing up the characters of Cyclops ( who I think is cool) Storm & Rogue. Hope marvel fix this.
I hope X-Men 97 brings more people to this video because he deserves justice for his lacking film portrayals. Such an unsung hero! Like how he took charge in House of M without hesitation and no one challenged him. Take his powers away and he'll be pragmatic enough to even shoot you with a gun. Create an X-team of killers and ask the impossible of others BUT always willing to step up and even sacrifice himself if necessary. So underrated!
Thank you for defending my favorite character! It’s so hard being a Cyclops fan. I get more discrimination from being a Cyke fan than I do from being a Magneto fan
Dear god as someone who has read Xmen comics since the 80s i was glad to see someone talk about the coolest Xman.... Scott Summers, jesus i hate wolverine
None of them should be hated they're both great. I've been reading the comics since my childhood when my father gave us the Marvel History X-Men books with the old comics. Now I read X-Men Blue and Cyclops has always been at least just as cool as Wolverine maybe a bit cooler. But Wolverine is also freaking interesting with his whole live story and stuff. But Cyclops's History is exact the same interesting. Don't hate anybody. They're all great in their own way.
I love all the X-men. Like the Z Fighters, they can do no wrong in my eyes. Wolverine is probably my favorite alongside Gambit, but I definitely got mad respect for Scott.
@@alfredmuller6626 As i see it, both Wolverine and Cyclops started losing themselves in the late 90's and it became clear in the 00's, as Wolverine no longer had "Advanced Healing Factor", but downright REGENERATED, while Cyclops no longer were much of a leader, and the "questionable things" started happening.
Nice to see you back with Robot and Space Brain talking about what you love the most. These are classically your best shows talking about the X-Men. Nice cliffhanger in the end there. Are we going to build out a CBG19 cinematic universe now?
I’m sure we’d all love to see your review and thoughts on xmen 97. Especially considering how you are one of this platform’s most prolific xmen comic book experts. You have for yeeears truly understood these characters.
That short dude from " lone survivor " " speed racer" and " alpha dog" would make the perfect wolverine. His voice is a little off but I believe he could pull it off.
They need to NOT have Wolverine in the MCU X-Men movies for at least the first two. I want a true X-Men movie, not another Wolverine and the x-men franchise!
Cyclops was always my main character in the *_X-Men:Mutant Academy 2_* Video game for the PlayStation. (I think the 1st one was also on the PS..but the sequel was better cos you could unlock Prof.X and Spider-Man)
How did i miss this before? Scott's always been my favorite. He's the most well rounded x-men in the 90s. He's basically Captain America, both in mentality and fighting style, just with optic blasts instead of super strength. His morality and steadfastness really set him apart to me. It's just frustrating how much Fox shit all over him.
Seriously makes me glad X-Men: The Animated Series, X-Men: Evolution, and X-Men ‘97 exists. They actually respect him. Also at least one animated show did try to make Wolverine into the leader because of the movies. It failed because that’s NOT who Wolverine is. Wolverine is first off, ALWAYS off on his own dealing with his past. Secondly, he’s impulsive and brash. He rushes into battles, usually against orders. Thirdly, Scott is a good leader because he’s more than capable and willing to make tough decisions. He’s able to think rationally and with strategy and he’s always around. Wolverine being off all the time works in general. It just doesn’t work when he’s supposed to be in a leadership role. And people seem to collectively forget Scott can’t control his powers (pretty sure because of the head injury he suffered). People could legitimately get hurt or worst killed if he loses control of those things (hence why he wears the glasses, visor, or keeps his eyes closed). They are ALWAYS on.
All I care about is getting a good Cyke this time. Give us the initial X-men team of Prof X, Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, and Colossus. Save Logan for the sequel and really build these people up Claremont style.
.. Or Rogue .. Or Storm .. Or Wolverine .. Lol.. They never really got any of them right !!!.. Sucks cause the X Men have alot of great characters , including STRONG WOMEN , and have so'ooooo much potential for grrat movies if done correctly !!!.. The X Men would make the Avengers look like girlscouts !!!
I hated what they did to Rogue. That is the worst thing about the X men movies. I was really hoping she would at least make a cameo in a flashback scene during Logan as being how Rogue should be.
@@kendallandrews8691 Ya they really turned her to shit in the movies. Like shouldnt she have all her Ms MArvel powers by the time she joins the Xmen? Guess FOX didnt want to shell out more FX money for another flying character lol

Turns out your show is really good and I'm gonna subscribe and share with friends. Hopefully people can change their opinions on ol' Scotty! Gotta catch up on your other videos now!
Cyclops did not become cool in the comics until his philosophy became an amalgam of both Professor X and Magneto, around the Astonishing X-Men by Joss Wheddon. After that he's had the greatest 10 year character arc.
I love this format!!! Glad to see your guys back. And talking about one of my favorite X-Men to boot. James Marsden was a great Cyclops, the movie did not develop him correctly.
I love how she's brought this to the forefront. My comic book history (I'm old so it's a lengthy one) has Cyclops at the TOP! Thanks Comic Book Girl 19 you nailed this!!
And Gambit, Storm, Rogue, I don't even remember Gambit being in the movies. Almost all X-men became side characters and the villains seemed to have had more spotlight than the heroes.
Chryssesandchaos - They did give Magneto some deserved spotlight. Magneto was my favorite villain character, he is a villain with a heart, but he goes crazy after his wife and kids were murdered. I really liked X-Men First Class because they did not focus on Wolverine
The two writers who crafted the Captain America trilogy should handle the duties of Cyclops, for the MCU. Scott Summers is practically Cap, so why not let those two guys write the character?
I actually liked Cyclops portrayal in Dark Phoenix. He wasn't quit the leader from the comics, but he actually made a meaningful contibution. Also the chemistry between Cyclops and Jean was so much more believable. But it's too little too late.
My favorite X-Men stories revolve around Cyclops and the Sins of the Father dynamic. Corsair(Nathaniel Essex)(Xavier)/Cyclops/Cable/Stryfe/Nate Grey/Tyler. Epic storylines that depth from each deeds or misdeeds done by them that influence their future culminating in Cyclops bloodline being destiny to battle Apocalypse.
yes! I hope Marvel will do a solo movies or trilogies with x-men characters (other than just Wolverine, I expect that :) that focus more on the characters and their personal relationships. All the Summers/Grey family drama would make for a really interesting set of movies all on their own.
Now that Disney/Marvel about to have their own streaming platform. They can use it to do standalone movie or series. I recommend using the X-Men Unlimited Series as a template

JazGalaxy The good X-Men stuff is really 1965 to 1991. X-Men #1-3 was good but Cyclops was not featured that much. In many ways it was Magneto's story. Then there was the rest of the 90s moving forward but it wasn't the same without Claremont.
I always thought the most interesting thing about Scott was that Xavier essentially raised him as a child soldier for his elite tactical team and he doesn't seem to have much of a concept of self beyond the team or the mission.
ua-cam.com/video/y5hyqMRTxRA/v-deo.html since your a wolverine fan
Scott Summers isn't just leader of The X-Men. People seem to think he's just mutant Captain America.
Scott Summers is leader of the *entire* mutant race.
Not just the leader but king himself
He's the true vision of both prof x and Magneto
Unfortunately, to do that he has to isolate himself from the rest of his people to the role of stoic leader.
and now he's a terrorist. he was my fave
I literally wanted to shed a tear when I heard the intro song, it’s been SO LONG!! Welcome back ❤️
Seriously!
Am I weird if I missed the part of the intro where CBG19 and robot are sitting on the couch and the throw their hands in the air like they just don't care? Because I really missed that part...
I am very happy. I been watching the twitch streams and they also have been great but I have also missed these videos too. :D
Yes, same!!!!!
Me too! For a got second I thought it was an old video of yesteryear. So glad the show’s back!
Cyclops was actually the one we should have been looking up to in the comics, NOT Wolverine.
I agree with you but I hate that Cyclops seems to have made all the bad decisions in the comics lately. And it depends on who's writing him.
agreed
@JohnnyGeekJr. Who knew, 40 years, the violent Wolverine would overtake Cyclops in popularity?
I don't think it was just the movies that sabotaged Cyclops, the comics did a pretty good job of that themselves. Marvel seem to have a problem recently with characters who do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. Just look to the other Summer brother, Alex, who has gone from a confident leader, to being picked by Captain America to lead a team of Avengers, to being a loser that no-one wants to bother with.
Even Charles Xavier has suffered the same fate in the comics. He's gone from a guy who wanted nothing more than humans and mutants to live together peacefully to an absolute arsehole.
In Xaviers' case, he did a lot of asshole stuff the comics never followed up on. Later writers noticed this and brought it back up.
white guys. 4 years ago little hard to see now clear as a fucking bell.
Cyclops been my favorite since I was a kid watching the cartoon and it always saddens me how much they screwed him up over 2 decades
Same...the best Leader of the X-men never portrayed correctly in the Movies at all.
he was one of the main reasons i got into xmen
Right there with you.
Or maybe some people just don't like the actual character.
Kye Dysarthria Sure, some may not. If you’re looking for a golden boy, Cyclops ain’t it (neither is Wolverine). But most people I’ve talked to don’t know him from the source material, only by his displayal on the big screen. Such a shame.
Fox might have done character suicide, but in the comics he created character suicide by himself.
Manny Robles but got better
Don't raise my hopes up, I'm just imagining the Russo Bros doing a Cyclops movie and it would so damn tight!
Nothing tops the Fox Kids X Men of the Nineties.
I love X-Men evolution. Best X-Men animated series.
Cyclops is an asshole in the comics. He is better represented in the films than he is in the comics.
finally someone talks about cyclops in the right way
Finally giving him his credit in Xmen 97 :)
Cyclops has been my favourite since I was a kid. Not Wolverine, Storm or Cable. Cyclops.
And let me tell you, it’s been hard being his fan for a long time.
Thank you soooo much for this video. Scott doesn't get enough respect and how essential he is to the X-men. You rock Comicbook girl!!
If you want a great depiction of Cyclops on the X men, watch X-men Evolution. It follows Cyclops as a teenager, trying to become a good leader while also trying to control his powers.
And he isn't with Jean until Season 3, meaning we get to see his friendships and interactions with other characters which develops him more
P.S. also please don't make Wolverine the focus of all the movies!!!
It was said that Kevin Feigi's first priority will be Wolverine as he loves the character 🙄. I hope that's not the case, because it'll just be the FOX tragedy all over again.
Or most importantly don't make a Villain Like Mystique the leader of the X-Men and focus of the X-Men movies
@@Refining1
Someone send Feigi this video!!
I don't even want to see Wolverine in these movies. Not for a long time at least. You can't just replace Hugh Jackman. Let him rest and give the other characters their chance, then in 5-10 years hype up his return after everyone else is established and beloved.
Also please don’t cast another tall dandy with no edge or grit to play Wolverine.
Reason why I love CBG19 #138: She defends Scott Summers.
Agreed.
Watching this after watching X-Men 97 knowing he’s redeemed
Especially after seeing his performance in WestWorld.
@@joshuahough8265
I was just talking about how likeable and charming he is.
Welcome back, team. Very excited.
Are you a time-traveller, David...?
Very X-cited you mean?
Hella dumb. Don't deserve a like. You deserve a slap
It’s nice to see Cyclops get some acknowledgement in this video, I don’t care what anyone says, Cyclops is my favorite X-man.
My favorite too

@@theascendunt9960same
Cyclops was always my favorite before the movies ruined him. All that Wolverine hype drove me nuts.
Me too! I loved Cy in the 80’s and 90’s. I didn’t understand the direction of the Fox with him. Cy’s story is deep and complex. He deserves better
@8:00 mark you're 100% right. Instead of making the movies about the team..... They made it about Wolverine/Hugh Jackman... And then also about Mystique/Jennifer Lawrence
man I've been screaming this for years. and I love wolverine but SHIT can someone else get some screen time?
fuck hugh jackman
Thank god that X-Men 97 did Cyclops justice. Plus Ray Chase did really great as Cyclops.
Hocker Even The Singer movies didn’t make me hate him, cause I’ve always thought his design was cool.
Fox turned cyclops into an over emotional cry baby wimp!
If that, he has 20 minutes of screen time between three and a quarter films. He's one credit and a paycheck away from being an extra.
And then the comics turned him into Diet Magneto
Post House of M is my favorite Cyclops, that's when he became not only the X-men leader but all of mutant kind's leader
I can't agree with you more
The X-Men movies where definitely more Wolverine movies than anything, that always annoyed me because there's so many badass X-Men characters.
nope. they were Hugh Jackman movies not Wolverine movies.
I agree 100%! They focused on Wolverine and Mystique too damn much.

I love you.
He said case close lol. What case? Others are going to have their opinions. So what
Right down to the mutant equivalent of "Hail Hydra," sadly. Did they fix him yet?
They did fix him recently.
You forgot "circle kick!" I love him in those capcom fighting games. Specifically MvC 2
As a fellow x-men fan and cyclops fan I had been saying this for almost 20 years too.
Then Rogue.
Exactly. The field commander. Remember how good they got before they fought the neo. Plus we need a good danger room.
Also Kitty Pryde is a tragedy in these movies.
Richard Butler ughh i hated that movie version of Rogue sooooo much. Smh
The entire Fox-Men franchise is a tragedy...
Yes I really hope Storm isn't done dirty like she was with Fox, I want a strong warrior queen not a lame ass beauty queen.
We finally get Space Brain and Robot again.
He was very whiny and indecisive in the early 80s with all the Phoenix stuff.
Clay3613 Wolvernie whin too.
Took the words right out my mouth bro. I never liked how they portrayed him in the movies. Made them look like such a punk ass
Cyclops is a tactical genius. He got two of the most powerful beautiful woman in all of marvel universe to fall in love with him. Also they’re both physic so you gotta be a solid dude to make that work.
Extra points because they freaking hate each other but agree he's one of the most amazing men they've ever known.
Dont forget he had pheonix force
Now all he needs is for Psylocke to fall for him so he can lock up that Redhead, Blondie, Brunette dynamic...
Psylocke tried and failed back around the launch of X-men series 1 in the early 90s. She tried to pass it off as the whole body switch / memories kwannon fiasco when Jean confronted her but nah, she wanted a bit of cyclops really. He's a psychics kryptonite.

@@PSWX-do4wj as Wolverine pointed out. "Sometimes I forget Summers, why you're still in charge. I forget that you basically have a nuke in your head."
Those movies did a good job of forgetting the scope of Cyke's modern powers.
I would love to see a good Cyclops character. Love that guy.
Me too he has potential, but he is as bad in the comic as in the movie.
I disagree. He is much better in the comics
I always liked Cyclops. As someone who had to wear eye glasses from a very young age it was awesome to see a character who also had to wear glasses to see but, they also turned his curse into an asset, he was the team leader, and he had the smoking hot redhead who was all about him. A character for every little glasses wearing boy to look up to.
exactly
You pretty much said the exact reason why I started liking Cyclops. I wore glasses since I was little. So it was a no brainer.

I've been saying this for years. It's good to finally see someone else come to the defense of cyclops.
I’m also hoping that they FINALLY get Storm right too. The Halle Berry version has just never done her justice in appearance, strength, or personality... 🙄🤷🏾♂️
YES!!!
100% FACTS!
Ron Price Halle Berry never really appealed to me on the attractiveness front. I was even more disappointed with her/Singer’s version of “Storm”. A far cry from the woman that defeated Cyclops for leadership of the X-Men...WITH NO POWERS.
@Ryan Stewart
Casting too.
Fox keeps making Wolverine as the Protagonist in their movies.
Rogue seriously needs better treatment...
@@drankydrank1 i knoww.. rogue was such badass in the comics. They reduced her to a horny teen who wants to get laid but can't in the movies 😂😂

As i see it, both Wolverine and Cyclops started losing themselves in the late 90's and it became clear in the 00's, as Wolverine no longer had "Advanced Healing Factor", but downright REGENERATED, while Cyclops no longer were much of a leader, and the "questionable things" started happening.

Cyclops: The First X-Man
Seriously makes me glad X-Men: The Animated Series, X-Men: Evolution, and X-Men ‘97 exists.
Wooohooooo!!! Comic Book Girl 19 RULES!!!

But give me a true representation of Storm!
I love how she's brought this to the forefront. My comic book history (I'm old so it's a lengthy one) has Cyclops at the TOP! Thanks Comic Book Girl 19 you nailed this!!
+1. Anyone who REALLY knows their, X-Men, has to like Cyclops. He's been through so much and is still, THE, (iconic), X-team leader!
Hopefully The MCU will get The X-Men right and they Focus on every Member and Not Just Wolverine!
@@IlokanoWarrior Everyone knows Magneto had more than enough spotlight. Good for you.
Chryssesandchaos - good for the world you mean. Magneto is the King!
@@IlokanoWarrior Yeah, sure. No wonder Dark Phoenix isn't doing so well. Lolololol!
Chryssesandchaos - oh I did not see that movie yet, I heard it sucked.
The two writers who crafted the Captain America trilogy should handle the duties of Cyclops, for the MCU. Scott Summers is practically Cap, so why not let those two guys write the character?
I think the Russo bros should handle the x-men too.
@@smackdown247 Hopefully the streaming service will have decent budgets, i'm cool with x-men streaming movies, tv shows, animations, or mini-series - not every show is practical for a theater audience, even though the stories are great, just too niche :)
@@anamusementinprogress If I remember correctly. Disney/Marvel are doing 3 MCU series for their service. Scarlett Witch/ Loki and Winter Soldier and Falcon series. I'm 99% sure they mentioned that it was going to theater quality and budget.
