After a very-long wait, my first challenge for my most requested game is finally here; Persona 5: Royal. Rather than do Arsene-only like most people have asked, I instead decided to play through the entire game without using the services provided in the Velvet Room. That means no fusion, compendium, etc. Be sure to stick around to find out what happens in part 2!

I get the consensus that P5 is one of the easier games but Nyarly has also played these games ALOT. The overall player like myself did struggle in areas because I didn’t know everything. The Maruki fight took me a bit though I never died as well as other bosses such as Burger Boy where I beat the boss at literally 1 second left.
As with everything, it's easy if you know what you're doing. The only persona games I've played were 4 Golden and this one, and the only thing I find easier about this one over 4 golden are palaces since you can sneak through them all and always get ambushes for free. 4's clunky controls and no sprint made that harder to achieve. Yeah if I'd known from the start that if you level up the wardens' arcana until you unlock the ability to buy higher leveled personas you can break the game with fusion alarms to get busted strong endgame personas with maxed stats and pretty much any skill you want, then I'd probably find it easier. But then again if I knew you can basically do the same thing with shuffle time in persona 4, they'd go back to being even in difficulty.
@@joaogomes9405 imo shuffle time sweep bonus is more reliable than fusion alarms overall, especially for getting personas, and skill level ups. But being able to buy higher level personas definitely just breaks the game
Shadow Okumura was probably the only boss fight that actually felt harder and more drawn out by the changes made to it in P5R, especially with the Cognitive Haru phase (and the additional dialogue from Cognitive Haru in previous phases). I can beat the Shadow Okumura fight in under 10 mins in vanilla, but in P5R I had just under four minutes on the clock.
It's just like any series imo, the first one you play is the hardest. I'm playing 4 after I played 5.. 4 isn't hard, the boss fights are just ultra long and you need to grind a little to sit at a lvl where the mobs won't destroy you.

Tip for the reaper: once you’re strong enough, use tetrakarn or makarakarn on joker, reaper doesn’t like to hit those so it locks him into focus/megidolaon spam which if you continuously use attack down on its cool
You can also cheese the reaper by fighting him during flu season

You could also run the 2nd Palace Will Seed item after upgrading it. It costs a lot of MP but functions the same as Makarakarn I think. It's been a while since I've played

Watching this video and seeing Maruki again really saddened me considering what happened to his English VA.

Glad to see you finished this run. Persona 5 Royal is far from perfect, but I adore it all the same.
Since you brought it up (in case you weren't aware), you might be interested to know that someone has actually been working on a "Hardtype mod" for this game for quite a while now (albeit for the vanilla game in RPCS3), and he's said that he intends to port the mod over to P5R when the PC version comes out!
It's called "Persona 5: Reimagined" (by the same guy behind "Persona 4 Golden: Nightmare," which was excellent).
I honestly thought the Human Morgana reveal was gonna be something simple like Joker meeting him downstairs

If that wasn’t bad enough, originally Atlus planned to have Joker, Yusuke and Mona join in too. They decided not to in the end, but I feel like 90% of fans wish that entire scene was scrapped
In general, I think Ryuji is just treated a little too poorly throughout the game. He's really too decent of a guy for me to find the constant abuse he faces from his allies funny or endearing.

I got an ad during the finale of Maruki’s boss. It really killed the epic mood.
If you want to know how worthless Maruki's third phase is, it's literally impossible for fused Adam Kadmon to kill you with Full Force. It's really scripted and the only actual fight that matters is Discount Ahriman

It reminds me of how pathetic the final boss of FFX, Yu Yevon, is. The fact that you have permanant auto-life makes it so it is physically impossible to lose which is why I consider Braska's Final Aeon to be the true final boss.

Will say that i dont mind it being scripted as the Azatoth fight is great enough on its own

14:40 the funny thing about the final part of the Shido fight, if you just use magic reflecting moves and items, it’s a free win.

Im surprised you didnt just spam makarakarn with joker during the last phase of the shido fight, its an easy win since he only uses magic attacks. and reaper only gets one attack per turn if you let him ambush you, it could have made it a bit easier

To be fair, you have to factor in the fact that they're exhausted, and are basically fighting on fumes until the first man falls.
In the Duel against Akechi, I just used Kaguya Picaro. Its immunity to both Bless & Curse makes the fight absolutely trivial.
In the shido bossfight you had a soma which would have recovered your health to max
Morgana getting yeeted at the end, still gets a hardy chuckle out of me during the second rewatch.

well this was a fun vid. I personally dont mind the game being not to hard. I love the fact that mementos made it so easy to level up and get cash and it made the whole experience so much more fun.

Having played this game for WAY too many hours now, i found that the only way to get a real challenge by this point is to set every partymember to "Act freely" to limit myself as much as possible...
I like breaking JRPGs, and P5R is probably the one that's easiest to break to the point where basicly nothing can touch you.
Not only can you make a persona that Null, Drain or Reflect literally everything except Almighty, but you can also EXTREMELY easily give any persona you want 99 in all stats, as long as you have enough money, access to the Hanging velvet room mechanic, patience and Chihayas ability to make Fusion Alarms much more likely (it's not required, it just makes things go much faster)...

So...uh...a Persona based on an Lovecraftian being...is Nyalarthotep actually interceeding?
Funny thing about Yusuke. I didn't use him for Hyakka Ryouran because its SP cost was very high. I am very stingy with items, especially recovery items, so I found another way. My main ways of buffing were to make a persona with all auto-party-wide buffs, good resistances, Vitality of the Tree trait (allows use of ambushed moves normally), and Thermopylae (same thing but much lower SP cost and can only be used when ambushed normally) that I'd switch to whenever the buffs ran out. I don't remember who I used, but I do remember fusing using Attis with the Vitality of the Tree trait to make a chain that had that trait.
Usually I see people use either Attis' trait and Thermopylae or Lakshmi's trait on F Orpheus since Neo Cadenza is a Mediarama + Thermopylae (DLC moment)

What's the music that plays during Akechi's boos fight?
Nyarly the reaper is level 85, and if a party member is 10 levels under an enemy the party member will only do 4% damage to them, so te earliest you want to fight the reaper is level 75 or above so your attack do more than 50 damage.
Of course you than throw all this info down the drain if you play the original P5 and wait until 11/13 for flu season
For me, this is super impressive. I'm just a newcomer and overall beginner in the SMT and Persona series. I have to learn how everyting works in this game and so far P5R is very enjoyable to learn the series with. I DID started with P3P but didn't got very far and do own P4G on my vita, plus SMTIV on my 3DS. So yeah I have a lot to play and learn with!

One thing I despise about P5's story is actually Ryuji's "death" and how the party members treating him afterwards. Instead of being relieved, the girls LITERALLY BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF HIM. WHY. Not a single one of them were happy to see him return. If someone can explain to me how they can realistically jump from "Ryuji died, we're all so sad" to "You piece of shit Ryuji!" in the span of a few text boxes, please do. This shit was so baffling to me during my playthroughs of the game.

Hypothetically, it should be entirely possible to max out all the Confidants in this game (except for Strength, which outright requires using the Velvet Room) even with the handicap you've applied to this run.

When I played Persona 4 Golden for first time I didn't know that we can fuse different Persona to create new stronger Persona. I thought that shuffle time is the only way to get new Persona so I think I played without fusing for atleast till Level 30 to 40.
P4G is somehow easier than royal, so I'm pretty sure it was just as easy.

Yeah, Shuffle Time makes P4G a cakewalk. Not even factoring in the fact that on NG+ runs, Marie's Dungeon gimmick is quite literally rendered completely irrelevant by Izanagi-no-Okami, thanks to Victory Cry, which means you will *always* have half of your SP. At all times. And enemies there are basically one shot by Megidolaon, because they're set up to factor in your low damage gear, which means nothing in the face of that skill's damage.
How? Seriously, how!?
@@cryguy0000 If you are asking me how then that time persona mechanics were new to me infact RPG were new to me. I first played RPG, Final Fantasy III on Dec 2019 and then in 2020 Persona 4G re-released which was huge success so I tried it and I was only familiar with Job system of Final Fantasy and didn't understand much Persona System.
Really excited for the PC release. Hope someone makes a mod that lets you use Akechi and Sumire for the whole game.

First can you beat that was an obvious yes to me, but i like this idea. Royal is already a bit too easy, especially with the velvet room so it might make for a decent 2nd run ill try once the steam version is here
Y'know, Arahabiki reflects both physicals, is resistant to dark and bless AND learns Makarakarn. Way better than Ghrimelkianienfnisak. You can just Spam Makarakarn on the final 1v1 vs Shido and he can't hit you at all.

Now beat SMT V as a classic SMT protagonist so no demon fusions to simulate demons being basic instead of getting fusion moves and with protagonist learning only physical moves (to simulate lack of magic, so you can get passive buffs, charge and physicals abilities).
Quick tip with the p5 reaper, if you let the reaper attack you first then he only attacks once per turn

That was certainly an amusing challenge run. Though it makes me wonder what you'll have in store for 2ep and 1. Kind of felt like a missed opportunity that Maya, Tatsuya and Naoya weren't dlc bosses in the velvet room as well.

If you do, you fight in 'surrounded' status, allowing access to Thermoplae. In addition, also the Reaper will only get 1 turn per round instead of 2
