We are not aware of a change in 2017. Sometimes situations with a vehicle can cause things not to work. It's also possible that too many keys have been programmed. Did you buy the key from us? Is so, customer service can help - very occasionally a key has a faulty transponder chip, circuit board, or dead battery
If you have 0 programmed fobs but one that at least has the correct cut key you can program the key. It takes about 30 mins but you dont need anything special. This works for Chevy Cruze 2012 ish models.
If you insert a cut key into the ignition and try to start the car without programming it. For Vehicles with a Transponder System, the engine may crank but won’t start because the immobilizer system doesn’t recognize the key. A security light (🔑 or 🚗 with a lock) may flash on the dashboard, indicating an unrecognized key.

See mine is American made and a 2015 snd it don't work. Matter of fact the key was cut by the dealer and won't even hardly fit my ignition.
Did something change for the 2017 model year of the Equinox? I tried this for mine, and it didn't work. Could a problem with the ECM cause this?
