    The reality here in the uk as of September 2023 is that buying a house at current prices is fast getting out of reach for most average working class people. Those who are renting cant save enough quick enough. On top of that gas, electric and grocery prices are very high so for most people its a case of living pay to pay without really being able to save anything. If in pakistan you have some land and a house then thats a better start than most. For all its negatives, no rent/mortgage, no council tax, better weather, culture, religion are still a lot of positives.

      @hassanrafique I appreciate that. Personally I would set up solar panels, thats the electricity issue sorted. I would cook on wooden fires and use gas as a luxury. I'm happy to live the simplest of lives whilst thinking of the 50 to 60 hours graft every week in the uk for the last 20 years. I'd hope to set up 2 small businesses that cover the day to day living expenses. Now its a case of trying to convince the wife and kids. Strangely enough, many people in the uk frown upon emigrating to pakistan. People look at me like I've lost my mind without realising this isn't the uk of 20 years ago.

    Things have changed for the worst in our country. I don't know about the past. But right now it is not possible to stay in Pakistan. Inflation, law and order and even family relations all are on a downward slope. Every man is for him/herself and beyond selfish. There is no social security whatsoever. If you belong from a powerful family (Army, Government officer, Politician or a rich businessmen) then stay in Pak. Otherwise leave on the earliest moment for your own good.

      Hi Zohaib
      I discussed the need with my boss first. The umbrella arramgement just followed after that once HR looked into it. Once you work via and umbrella then you become pkr resident for tax purposes. If you have a property in the UK that you rent out then for that you need to do an HMRC self return in the UK ( you still get the £12500 tax free allowance).

    Hi Hassan, just watching your videos and had one question if you can answer please. Did you consider moving to UAE instead of Pak as there you can potentially bring your parents to live with you? Can you please provide insights on the decision between moving back to Pak vs UAE?

    • @hassanrafique
      @hassanrafique  2 роки тому

      Hi Waqas
      We did have the thought of doing a two step relocation...get a job and spend a couple of years in UAE (save up some money) and then move to Pakistan and consider starting some business using the money saved. We did not know about the parent laws you mentioned. But then when I asked my company regarding remote working ..the plan worked and we decided to go directly. I have been to UAE once (to visit relatives and sister).. personally it was like a modern Pakistan...but I felt that most of the year there isn't much of an outdoor life due to the heat..but then again one can argue that we spend most time indoors anyways...so really I think it is a decision made on a case by case basis... opportunity wise if you get a job there on a foreign(western) passport, I hear, that the salary is double the amount they give to say someone with a Pakistani passport. Also skill matching is another thing...e.g. HR , mechanical, chemical, civil and petroleum jobs may be more common place then electronic, telecom, software jobs...so all these factors would also play a role. I hope this info will be helpful.
      Many Thanks for watching 👍

    • @hassanrafique
      @hassanrafique  3 роки тому +2

      Salam @ESSA KHAWAJA,
      When I went to GIKI as an 18 year old, I also missed my family and home town. Nostalgia was at its peak but I countered that by always visiting home during weekends ( at times taking an early class with the other section on Thursday if on Friday we only had a single period for that class)..point being that I fought the nostalgia head on and was able to do very well in my studies, enjoy uni and stay in touch back home.
      Now lets talk about UK...first try and write on a piece of paper...the things in UK that made the nostalgia worst and what can you do to avoid those...secondly look at the bigger picture...do you want to pursue a career in the UK after you get the degree or you want to come back immediately? If the answer is the latter and it is an MSc...then 1 year will pass like a breeze ( plus if you can afford it you can come back after 1 term for 3 weeks for a refresher)...
      If it is an undergraduate degree...then again based on affordability...you can visit between terms so that nostalgia remains minimum and you are never away from home for more than 4 months..
      If you are looking for a career in the UK...then I would advise getting married soon after you graduate and have a job...starting your family will really help you with this..
      Finally...if it is an undergrad you want to pursue...then I would think it will be better to do an undergraduate degree here and then go to the UK for an MSc ( the degree will have more weightage...you will have to spend less time in your studies..so you can find a job and get married soon after)..if you need more advice please feel free to get in touch with me on LinkedIn and we will take it from there...some how you struck a personal note with me and I feel like I am advising my younger brother...Just Remember ..LIFE IS BIGGER THAN THESE THINGS SO NEVER LET ANYTHING DRAG YOU DOWN!!!

LinkedIn learning is a good starting point and so is UA-cam 👍👍
