tbf Raichu's HA, serviceable bulk, tremendous speed, and stellar utility-based movepool made it strong but its typing really hinders it... It's also the only Lightningrod Pokemon that effectively utilizes the stat boost aside from Mega Manectric, who is unfortunately, a not-so-great pick for a mega slot in VGC meta.
I noticed that *Pachirisu's Thunderbolt/Thunder Punch* is offensively _worse_ than *Porygon Z's Hyper Beam* against *Gyarados* despite it being _400%_ as effective.

My favorite part about the VGC 2014 story is the fact that it's just a huge inspiration story. For the longest time, I've wanted to try and figure out something, literally anything, that I could call my own in competitive play as the Pachirisu fans did themselves.

Early XY VGC was probably the most exciting metagame I played bc it was diverse, new pokemon, and alot of stuff could succeed or at least do decently well. Seeing the twitch stream when sejun won was amazing. I feel that pokemon has only declined since that moment
Se Jun Park's Pachirisu was the only reason I've ever watched tournament matches. I wish there was more room for players to find signature pokemon that smash the tier system and turn it on its head.
Remember, if you want a weak Pokemon you love to succeed, you need to support it. You can't just throw it into a role it isnt suited for and expect it to succeed just because you want it to. Find what its unique strengths are, look critically at what the game requires, and find a way to win.
Pachirisu makes for a great Catching Pokémon. Nuzzle and Super Fang already has good synergy, but Bestow is a lifesaver. This is meant to give anything low on PP a Leppa Berry. And since it has Pickup, it can Bestow the Berry infinitely.
Good thing the Pikaclones started being good with Dedenne. Well, ok, Dedenne is still a bit bad, but hey, it's a Fairy type, so it has something. But Togedemaru and Morpeko are very good. Edit: Oh, did I say Dedenne, I meant Emolga, it's very good too.

The only thing I remember clearly about pachirisu was the time he was testing the air balloon as an item even before the gen 5, leaving a mess in a kitchen's cruiser.
Fun fact: Jeudy (the guy who lost to Pachirisu in finals) was my RA in college. I asked him about the match. He was a good sport about it, however, I was no longer his favorite resident after that.
Funny thing is Pachirisu's physical move pull goes pretty hard for an electric type. Its been able to learn seed bomb and gunk shot since gen 4 and U turn too. Electivire would love to have thoose attacks

i’d love to see “How good was Breviary actually?” He’s one of my favorite pokemon and I feel has a unique tier movement problem. Although recently is probably way better now
It’s funny that people think Pachi is viable because it saw success that one time in VGC. That’s not Pachi being good. It’s Sejun being amazing, and finding a mon that fits all of the niches he wanted. Guaranteed para that breaks sashes, super fang to help weaken bulky targets, follow me, volt absorb to support Gyarados, and being really freakin cute. Only mon that could do all of those things, and had the ability to abuse lack of knowledge. Sejun is a god.
Se Jun's Pacharisu is a great example of why my enthusiasm for comp pokemon is so shot now that SS is so isolated from the other games. Pacharisu had a very very specific set of tools it acquired over several generations and Se Jun used it with his meta knowledge to become the world champion. I mean, remember extreme speed Linoone? The fact that you had to use a Gamecube game and then trade up to Sun and Moon? That's AMAZING to me that you can still use a game from 15 years ago to get a specific pokemon in SM
The legend, and a surprise appearance. In a world where most of the competitive pokemon are scary looking in some way, Pachirisu has none of these at first.
This Pokémon is the reason why casual players think that coming up with poorly prepared teams is justifiable to win tournames _bC oNe DuDe wOn WoRlDs WiTh PaChIrIsU._ Everything has a strategy.
I’m gonna be honest with y’all, even if it is controversial. Gothitelle was the real MVP of Sejun’s team, and Pachirisu only gets all the credit because of the surprise factor. STag is just an inherently broken ability, even in doubles and in a format that lacks switching.
And unlike Pachirisu, Gothitelle has a not gimmicky, more splashable niche in Trick Room or Perish Trap teams, specially alongside Snorlax. Heal pulse, Helping hand, Trick room, Ally Switch, Taunt, Fake out and the always terrific shadow tag, alongside a 70/95/115 bulk and a decent special attack. Sadly, the VGC 2020 metagame is not kind to Gothitelle at all with Dragapult, Excadrill, Tyranitar and Mimikyu as top usage.
Pachirisu is here in Scarlet and Violet. There's a second opportunity for Se Jun to take a 2nd Champion Belt for VGC for the underdog before the restricted Mons and Landorus T drop.
If rain becomes a dominant playstyle then it perhaps could show up to protect waters like Wave Crash Flotzel but on the other hand, pretty much all of the Paradox Pokémon body it and there's a lot of Earthquake so it's hard to tell its chances

I've always hated Pachirisu, but I really have to admire the usage of it with that strategy. I never would've guessed that Pachirisu would get a "How GOOD" video and not a "How BAD" one. Guess that's what I guess for not following the competitive scene!
In all honesty, as hype as Sejun's Pachirisu during World's was, there is a reason it was never seen after that tournament. Amoongus is just better. Also its kinda annoying how people always point to Sejun's Pachirisu to point out how tiers are useless. All Pokemon are equal, but some Pokemon are more equal than others
ye, it's really good as proof that, yes, if you're REALLY good and have enough skill you can make pretty much any pokemon work...... but it doesn't mean that pokemon is necessarily better than it was before it's just a matter of perception i think, a lot of people are used to the idea that some pokemon are just legitimately unusable and i think when you're used to that, someone defying that and having a pikaclone help carry them to victory at worlds is refreshing as heck people should simply just accept every pokemon is probably capable of winning against the best in the right hands ! ......but some are still clearly going to have a harder time doing so no matter what
Yeah, it doesn’t show tiers are worthless. It just shows some Pokémon can be overlooked that might be good in certain (possibly very specific) situations.
Also not to rag on Jeudy Azzarelli but he was a very inexperienced player at the time and fell for it two games in a row and couldn't adapt. His games leading up to the finals were very lucky in his favor
Slick God Nah, Karen is just bullshitting you. There’s no way to make Pokémon like Tynamo or Ledian work if you’re up against a competitive opponent who actually knows what they’re doing. Sure, you’ll find stuff like Caterpie or Magikarp sweeps on channels like PIMPNITE(he usually Baton Passes boosts from stronger Pokémon onto the sweeper, which you can do to literally any Pokémon), but you have no idea how many times he attempts a sweep and failed because the opponent sees right through him. A FEAR sweep for example can be prevented by simply switching out. It’s mostly luck that he occasionally runs into a less experienced opponent who gets caught off guard by his strategy and has no way to counter it, it has nothing to do with the Pokémon itself. Pachirisu only worked because of the niche it filled protecting better Pokémon, nothing more, nothing less.

Funny thing is Pachirisu's physical move pull goes pretty hard for an electric type. Its been able to learn seed bomb and gunk shot since gen 4 and U turn too. Electivire would love to have thoose attacks

It’s funny that people think Pachi is viable because it saw success that one time in VGC.
That’s not Pachi being good. It’s Sejun being amazing, and finding a mon that fits all of the niches he wanted.
Guaranteed para that breaks sashes, super fang to help weaken bulky targets, follow me, volt absorb to support Gyarados, and being really freakin cute. Only mon that could do all of those things, and had the ability to abuse lack of knowledge.

Se Jun's Pacharisu is a great example of why my enthusiasm for comp pokemon is so shot now that SS is so isolated from the other games. Pacharisu had a very very specific set of tools it acquired over several generations and Se Jun used it with his meta knowledge to become the world champion. I mean, remember extreme speed Linoone? The fact that you had to use a Gamecube game and then trade up to Sun and Moon? That's AMAZING to me that you can still use a game from 15 years ago to get a specific pokemon in SM

Gothitelle was the real MVP of Sejun’s team, and Pachirisu only gets all the credit because of the surprise factor. STag is just an inherently broken ability, even in doubles and in a format that lacks switching.

Pachirisu gets all the credits because Gothitelle didn't appear in the Finals.
And unlike Pachirisu, Gothitelle has a not gimmicky, more splashable niche in Trick Room or Perish Trap teams, specially alongside Snorlax. Heal pulse, Helping hand, Trick room, Ally Switch, Taunt, Fake out and the always terrific shadow tag, alongside a 70/95/115 bulk and a decent special attack. Sadly, the VGC 2020 metagame is not kind to Gothitelle at all with Dragapult, Excadrill, Tyranitar and Mimikyu as top usage.

Pachirisu is here in Scarlet and Violet. There's a second opportunity for Se Jun to take a 2nd Champion Belt for VGC for the underdog before the restricted Mons and Landorus T drop.
If rain becomes a dominant playstyle then it perhaps could show up to protect waters like Wave Crash Flotzel but on the other hand, pretty much all of the Paradox Pokémon body it and there's a lot of Earthquake so it's hard to tell its chances

I've always hated Pachirisu, but I really have to admire the usage of it with that strategy. I never would've guessed that Pachirisu would get a "How GOOD" video and not a "How BAD" one.

In all honesty, as hype as Sejun's Pachirisu during World's was, there is a reason it was never seen after that tournament. Amoongus is just better.
Also its kinda annoying how people always point to Sejun's Pachirisu to point out how tiers are useless. All Pokemon are equal, but some Pokemon are more equal than others
ye, it's really good as proof that, yes, if you're REALLY good and have enough skill you can make pretty much any pokemon work...... but it doesn't mean that pokemon is necessarily better than it was before
it's just a matter of perception i think, a lot of people are used to the idea that some pokemon are just legitimately unusable and i think when you're used to that, someone defying that and having a pikaclone help carry them to victory at worlds is refreshing as heck
people should simply just accept every pokemon is probably capable of winning against the best in the right hands ! ......but some are still clearly going to have a harder time doing so no matter what
Yeah, it doesn’t show tiers are worthless. It just shows some Pokémon can be overlooked that might be good in certain (possibly very specific) situations.
If Clefairy was legal that year, it probably could have replaced it.
Also not to rag on Jeudy Azzarelli but he was a very inexperienced player at the time and fell for it two games in a row and couldn't adapt. His games leading up to the finals were very lucky in his favor

Nah, Karen is just bullshitting you. There’s no way to make Pokémon like Tynamo or Ledian work if you’re up against a competitive opponent who actually knows what they’re doing. Sure, you’ll find stuff like Caterpie or Magikarp sweeps on channels like PIMPNITE(he usually Baton Passes boosts from stronger Pokémon onto the sweeper, which you can do to literally any Pokémon), but you have no idea how many times he attempts a sweep and failed because the opponent sees right through him. A FEAR sweep for example can be prevented by simply switching out. It’s mostly luck that he occasionally runs into a less experienced opponent who gets caught off guard by his strategy and has no way to counter it, it has nothing to do with the Pokémon itself. Pachirisu only worked because of the niche it filled protecting better Pokémon, nothing more, nothing less.
OMG, I just realized that the Shiny Pachirisu's in the May International Challenge name was a reference to A Certain Magical Index series' Last Order. Sister's noice probably refering to the Misaka clones who have the ability Radio Noise
