Reshiram just has a lot of problems and honestly it’s not surprising
Fire/Dragon is a great typing in general but most of the Metagame isn’t really kind to a Pokemon with such a typing especially Ubers
Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon, Ho-Oh, Xerneas, Arceus Water and Ground, the list goes on
Heck even Tapu Fini, Azumarill, and T-Tar all give it trouble and they are not even Ubers
It is really disappointing. I hope Reshiram gets better soon.

The fact that Zekrom uses lightning and Reshiram uses fire makes me know they were ripping off Yugioh.
It's alright. It has some massive burn cards and good fusions, but it's not as good as Blue-Eyes or Dark Magician, but its definitely my favorite of the 3.

Basically red eyes was hot dog sh!t until late 2020 where red eyes dark dragoon made it used in several, slower decks.
I would really love to see a new tier called UUbers, where Reshiram, Zamazenta, Deoxys-Normal, and Solgaleo could all go play.

It's a little sad knowing that one of my favorite legends was borderline useless for 80% of it's life but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it's design and origin
And that’s why you play base Sword/Shield formats. There, Avalugg and Corsola-Galarian were good Pokémon too.
Reshiram is my favorite legendary of all time, and it hurts to hear what false swipe gaming is saying.
Honestly, Reshiram and Zekrom might have the coolest origin out of any pokemon ever.
Heck, even their names are cool;
‘Re’ (feminine suffix) + ‘Shiro’ (Japanese for ‘white’) = Reshiram
‘Ze’ (masculine suffix) + ‘Kuro’ (Japanese for ‘black’) = Zekrom

You hyped me up so much at the beginning while I was looking at his insane base stats. This video is so sad but also funny for some reason
Fire/Dragon was a typing I always though was the best and would kill everything and sure that’s sort of true in Gen 5 but after that it was clear it’s just an average typing
The, ironically fitting, opposite side of the Truth/Ideal dynamic was that Zekrom was fantastic on its own while Kyurem-B sucked really bad. To the point of not being Uber.
I guess that means that Ideals are great on their own while if truth is paired along with a person willing to accept that truth, then truth can go even further.
But no one wants the truth so only Zekrom is used in Ubers.
Update: it's good now, it finally got a good physical ice-type move, icicle spear, and got a godly boosting move in Dragon Dance
So it finally outclasses Zekrom
While Reshiram was always outclassed by kyurem white
@@Lrizu Nah. Ice-Dragon is a terrible typing and what also doesnt help is that its fully checked by ndm which is the second best mon in the current meta. It is in D tier currently. The same as Cinderace, Genesect and Reshiram while normal zekrom is quite good, being a+.
Reshiram suffers a lot from Metagross syndrome, where on paper it was THE perfect Pokemon, but was so hampered by its speed tier. And much like Metagross, so many people experimented with giving it a speed boosting move just to compensate (Agility for Metagross, Flame Charge for Reshiram).

Hilariously, Reshiram is just like a Yu-Gi-Oh monster.
The only reason you have it in your deck is to fuse it into something stronger.
But just like the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, it's strong enough to win by itself, under the right conditions.
Yes, in a base Sword/Shield format you can use Reshiram. Which is never coming back nor being persisted.

Did anyone else notice that the 5th gen box legendaries literally had the same stat totals as the 4th gen ones, just slightly rearranged? Reshiram is Dialga with the defense stats swapped and Zekrom is Dialga with the offensive stats swapped.

Ah Reshiram. Nothing quite matches the feeling of being 5 years old battling against N and you have Reshiram lead against his Zekrom with N's kickass theme playing in the background.
One of the coolest moments of my childhood.
I was 14 that time and also enjoyed that battle vs N
N's theme sounds like a lot of crescendos with little payoff.

Reshiram is not a bad Pokemon it’s actually very decent. The problem is that it suffers badly from the competition and many good Dragons exist now at this point . And the fact that the Metagame is not kind to its typing
Dragon/Fire is excellent offensively in Gen 5 but it’s just average now in Gen 6 and beyond thanks to Fairies
You have a better chance of killing something with Ho-ohs brave bird rather than Reshirams Draco Meteor

Nope. Even then, Primordial Seas completely cancels out all Fire moves.

@@matthewkuscienko4616 unless another pokemon used sunny day after it was sent out and it happened to be a grass type that did it or if apokemon with drought did it but thats too situational and to send a fire type with drought like that would be suicidal unless it outsped it and was trying to finish or cripple it with solar beam.
*Primal* kyogre folks. It doesn't weaken fire moves it prevents them. Also prevents sunny day. Only desolate land stops his rain

@@shirshanyaroy287 before gen 8 it had only 3 viable Physical moves, 1 non STAB and the others both Dragon moves, and no boosting move while also being weak to stealth rock.
Gen 8 gifted it Icicle Spear, a physical ice move, Dragon Dance, a boosting move, and Heavy Duty Boots which let it finally become an Uber.

Reshiram is one of my FAVORITE Pokemon in the entire game. I always have a hard time deciding between Reshiram, Rayquaza, and Latias for my favorite Dragon type, but Reshiram often comes out on top just for its beautiful design and immense power.

Man, this video was truly a roller coaster ride with extreme highs and deep lows.
This one hurts the most for me. I always liked Reshiram compared to Zekrom & Kyurem. But in " truth " ( no pun attended ), it didn't do well in battle. It's the Flareon situation all over again. I hope it gets some serious boost. Like increasing it's speed, given it Earthquake or something.
reminds me of the time when the home meta just started, my friend came up with the crazy idea of a scarf Reshiram. I won many a battle with that team. It's heart warming to see it had actual relevance in the metagame afterwards
Honestly one of my favorite designs for a pokemon, really clean and elegant, they kinda over did it with kyurem white tbh

We can throw in Deo-N as well. Literally has no niche that isn't already filled by Deo-A (unless you really REALLY wanted a second Deo-A for some dumb reason), but slightly weaker Deo-A has zero business in OU.

I guess I never realized we never had a Dragon/Fire Pokémon until Reshiram, but unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations, still a cool design though.
As someone who liked Zekrom more than Reshiram, I felt bad for how it struggled in Ubers.

It is Charizard perfected. It is just as bad as Charizard (maybe even worse) but with a cooler design and a fitting type.
It is like how Bass in Bob and George is the more perfected form of Mega Man, but since Mega Man is usually dumb Bass is even dumber.

Maybe it would be great for reshiram to get calm mind. I think it has the tools to effectively use a set with heavy duty boots, substitute, calm mind, roost and blue flare as its only attacking move. It would struggle with ho-oh and xerneas but if used correctly, it would still be a threat
There are a lot of Fire Resists in the Uber Tier ( Mega Ray, Kyogre, Tyranitar , etc)
Reshiram needs more speed and probably and maybe an ability like Drought or Desolete Land

Breaks my heart how much worse Reshiram’s models are than the Gen 5 sprite
They aren’t worse it’s just that they don’t include the red fire glow in the model which sucks

I'm not educated on how tiers work in comp pokemon at all - just really love watching the videos and learning what makes the competitive scene what it is. That said, I'd love to know if it is just the raw base stat spread alone that kept Reshiram in Ubers or if there is another clause that prohibits it from dropping. It seems like a rare time you watch a uber classed pokemon not perform well at all and yet never drops to a lower tier.
